Crystal Reports 11.5 ( XIR2) on W2K8-64Bit Server, ASP ActiveX Viewer

Hi experts,
hope this is the right Forum to solve my problem.
During the last months , i had to migrate/upgrade at least 5 Customer, coming from a
Win2K3 32 Bit Server Environment, using various CR Versions ( 9 to 11 ).
Target Plattform : W2K8 64B / CR XIR2 ( 11.5.12.1838 )
They all have in common , using the Classic ASP and the ActiveX Browser Control Plugin
the so called RDC technique
I finaly got 3 Systems running with the CR XIR2 SP6,
went to the hell of registry permissions, DLL Registring, temp Files , IIS 7 ApplicationPool,
directory or other access Rights etc. ..
But two of my servers share the same Problem,
which did cost me days of investigation an tryOnError proceeding.
Here are the Symptoms :
Calling the Report launches the ActiveX Viewer, but the Plugin stays Grey .
BUT : exporting to PDF , or clicking on the "Group Structure" Button shows the correct result.
So the Database and Serverside report preparation seems to be 99% working.
and the Client Server Communication is running either.
Seems to be the only Problem left, to Render the Screenlayout , and pass it to the Browser Control.
Checking the serverside with ProcessMonitor shows ,
the the final Error that occures is,
that Crystal expects a Temp File such as \epfXXXX.tmp
which is not there !
so what is the Problem here ?? which DLL or Process is responsible for generating a EPFxxxx.tmp File ?
Does anybody have a solution or hint for me??
( i will write a complete howTo with all my expieriences, if anyone helps me laying the final brick ...

that was the solution
the final hint was, to modify the RDCrptserver115.asp itself,
identify the line with
reponse.addheader "CONTENT-LENGTH" , lenb(temp)
and change it to
reponse.addheader "CONTENT-LENGTH" , lenb(temp + 0)
so i'll try to summrize the known ( and finaly solved ) Problems
regarding "RDC in Classic ASP , running on a Win 2008 64 Bit Server"
and share it to this and other forums

Oh my, Crystal 6 was one of the worst versions ever. It crashed and was just painful. I'm amazed you would still have to working today.
That being said, Crystal 6 was released about 13 years ago and I would be very highly recommend not using it on Windows 7.

Crystal Reports 2008 and Sharepoint Services in 64bit

I have searched and post questions about the problems with the fact that thera are no great support for 64 bit. And still no solution. Why? Why? Why?
Now to my question. I have Crystal Reports 2008 in a Windows 2008 64 bit. Yes, I have got it running with the help of: Enable32bitAppOnWin64. But now to my problem...
I want to run Sharepoint Services 3.0 on the same server. But read on Microsoft.com:
The hardware and software requirements described in this article apply to both x32-bitu2013based and x64-bitu2013based systems. However, if you installed the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2008 and then modified the Enable32bitAppOnWin64 registry key so that Internet Information Server (IIS) is running in 32-bit emulation mode, you cannot install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To install either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 you must run IIS in 64-bit mode.
Does this means that I cannot run my webapp and Sharepoint Services on the same machine just because you havent find any solution to the 64-bit problem? What to do???

We have 64 bit runtime for Crystal Reports Basic that comes with Visual Studio .NET 2008. The version number for CR Basic is 10.5.
It sounds like you are out of luck if you want to use Crystal Reports XI R2 or Crystal Reports 2008 because there are no plans to release native 64 bit assemblies in those versions.

Web Elements in Crystal Reports on BOE XIr2

HiI am trying to set up my crystal report with multiple web elements controls and had a few questions. Any assitance would be appreciated:1) I have set up a radio button control and two drop down controls in my report. When I post the report to BOE and view it in Infoview, I still see the initial parameter page pop up before getting to the report. I have default values for each of the parameters and would like the report to bypass the parameter page and use the default values. Once in the report, I am able to change the parameter values by using the web elements controls. Any suggestions to get rid of the parameter page?2) I also need to set up a hierarchical set of controls in the report. I would like my radio button to be at the highest level and have the drop down box data be controlled by the radio button selection. How can I set this up?3) Radio button - dynamic labels: I've done this with a drop down box where the data gets populated from the result set data. I was hoping to do that with a radio button as well, where the number of radio buttons and labels get dynamically generated based on the number of values in a column. hello AJ,1) good question. once you've built a custom page you never want to see that default prompt page again. what you should do is publish a hyperlink to your CMC that is an opendocument link with default prompt values to your report containing the controls. then hide the report itself in a folder that the end users can't see. this way only the hyperlink is available and no one will see that prompt page again.2) if you open up the webelementsdcp.rpt from the webelements.zip folder, this is an example of heirarchical controls. for the first control in the ElementSet, substitute the WESelectCascade for a radio button control and you'll get the result you're looking for.3) see #2...once you've done the substitution above, the radio button will be using the same live data that the cascading select menu did.cheers,jamie

Problem installing Crystal Reports 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server

Sheesh. One of my users needs crystal reports and still uses it weekly. It's time to update off of an old 2003 server so I setup a new Windows 2012 R2 server so that she and others can RDP into it and use the application and reports (it's a payroll thing so they want limited access).
So - totally plain vanilla Windows 2012 R2 install. Then make sure I have all the .net stuff installed in the windows features.
But, whenever I run the setup.exe from the downloaded ZIP file from the sap store I get:

I can't find any information on this! I have found a similar message that refers to a 2011 install that was fixed with a SP9? But this machine has no current install. I did buy the full version two days ago online from the sap store.

There is an older C++ library that you need that is not available by default on Win 2012. You can get the install for this here:

Also, be sure you're logged in with Administrator rights, the right-click and "Run as Administrator" when you run setup. You might also have to turn off the Windows Firewall when you run the install (you can turn it back on again after the install is complete.)

What I want to do is change to Oracle server / database the report is connecting to at run time before the report is displayed. Did you get a resolution to your problem? I cannot dynamically change the datasource location in .NET using CR XI via OLE DB for Oracle. I get "This field name is not known." messages and when I try using the set datasource location in the designer tool, the mapping dialog box comes up with no fields in the right box. Thanks, Brian

Crystal Reports 2011 not working in windows 2008 server CITRIX

Hi All,
We are using Crystal reports 2011 in windows 2008 server which is CITRIX farm., having crystal reports 2011 runtime in it..
We are using .net applicationton to run the reports.
The crystal reports parameter popup is getting opened. But the calendar icon is not fuctioning ..clicking on the calendar control no pop up appears. no error too..
OK button is not responding. Cancel button too.
Can you please help us why we are facing this issue in CITRIX only. When we are using the same version in desktop, Crystal report is working fine.
Please feel free to ask if required any more details about my problem.

Ido's idea is excellent, only addition I'd like to make is the following:
You are trying to run a .NET app. However, CR 2011 does not install any SDKs. So, the directory specified by Ido is not correct. Assuming that by CR 2011 you actually mean "SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET", then the directory would be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\Crystal Reports 2011\crystalreportviewers\prompting
If that does not help, use Process Monitor and see what the logs tell you (look for Access Denied messages).

How to change Crystal Reports XI database name at run time from ASP code using ADO

Dear All,
I need advises regarding to my problem below
I have two database in same SQL 2005 SERVER for TEST01 and LIVE01 Environtment, and I've created more than 100 reports with Crystal Reports 11 and call it from ASP classic page.
The problem is how can I change a database from TEST01 to LIVE01 at the run time from ASP code as I already using TEST01 database on Crystal Reports and I do not want to set a new database location inside crystal for each reports

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the same problem when moving reports from development to Test to Production environments. If the DBName is not the same the report ignores the name provided at runtime.

Does Crystal Reports need to be on the web server?

Hello,
here's my scenario. someone who left us moved a .Net web application from server 1 to server 2 and didn't leave us notes of what he did. The report came up on server 2 fine but was not getting the right data so we changed the datasource to get the data correctly. Now we deployed the fixed version on server 2 and refreshed the web server. Now we see the correct results BUT the Business Objects icons (e.g. BO image, print icon, forward and back icon) are all "X" meaning that they could not be found.
We took a look at server 1 and it had the full version of Crystal Reports installed on it. On server 2 it looked like the DLLs were dumped into the GAC and that's all.
We're a bit perplexed by why it was working on server 2 with all the Business Objects icons even though Crystal Reports was not installed on it until we restarted the server with the fixed code. We were thinking maybe it's some sort of caching?? I've never seen this before so I'm a bit perplexed.
Any ideas on why this happened?

Mysterious for sure. When you say;
no virtual directory to crystalreportviewers115 and Crystal reports is not installed on the server (except for seeing only a few CR Dll's)...so how the heck did he get it working
You're essentially saying something like;
The car has no wheels, no engine, yet somehow it managed to get from point A to point B.
Sorry to say, but it ain't happening...
The only way to get a project that includes CR to work is to deploy the CR runtime. Either via MSI file where a simple double click will install the runtime and configure the viewer directory under the default app pool, or via a setup project you build using the CR MSM files. Again the files will be installed and the viewer directory configured under the default app pool. If your app is under a custom app pool, you need to configure the viewer folder under that pool as the install has no idea about non default app pools. Crystal Reports XI : Visual Studio 2003 to Web Server Deployment

I am having trouble deploying my web application to my web server. I created the web app using the crystal reports version that came with visual studio 2003 on my localhost. Then, I bought Crystal Reports XI for the server I would like the web app to be on. Once CR XI was installed on the server, I deployed my web app and included the dll files from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\managed directory. Now I receive the following error; The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'CrystalDecisions.Web' does not match the assembly reference. I changed both the aspx file and the web.config files assemly versions to match. I still receive the same error.

First of all you didn't make any mistake installing CRVS2010. It has assemblies with version 13.x
Now as far as patches are concerned ensure that you are on SP2. You can get runtime and patch from following:

You can opt for AD.NET as one of the datasource but what is the error/ warning you get when you use Web Serive as datasource?

Crystal report- Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed

I am trying to connect to a SAP R3 system from crystal reports but it gives me below error.
Please note : Transports have been imported and also the roles CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT and CRYSTAL_DESIGNER. My user is a member of these roles which were release along with Best practice reports v1.31

Crystal Report XI not updating correctly within CR Server

Greetings. I have a report that I have created using Crystal Reports XI. I then have published it and set it up within Crystal Reports SERVER to automatically run on a daily basis. The report automatically runs with no errors, however, when you look at the data, it does not reflect the current database - instead shows the data from whever it was published. Thus, the reports look like they are updated daily, however the information inside shows that they are not.
Any help/tips/advice on what to look for to fix this problem would greatly help! I'm new to Crystal Reports Server.

I have them set up on the Crystal Reports side, then when I publish them, the database information is "grayed out", so the reports initially don't run once published. So, I then log into the CMS using the ADMIN password and set the database parameters. The reports run fine and the data is saved with the report (only if I publish the report with the data saved). However, the next day (assuming you have daily reoccurence setup), the report is the initially published contents, not the "refresh".
I am probably missing some "simple" step...but being a newbie to this, I'm obviously missing it! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Crystal Reports for Eclipse plugin and CR XI server

I have a software requirement in which I need to support both internal (CR Eclipse plugin using the report viewer, not sure what the real name of this is) along with external (CR XI server) reporting. In other words, I should be able to display a report (.rpt) that exists on my local app server along with one that exists on the CR XI server. My question is this:
So I have both sets of jar libraries (eclipse plugin and XI server) and I see that some of the them are overlapping (some of the jars have the same name). For the ones that overlap, should I choose the ecilipse plugin or XI server ones...?
One example I found is that the eclipse plugin rasapp.jar contains the POJOResultSetHelper class whereas the rasapp.jar from the XI server does not. In this case, I presume I should use the eclipse version, right?

Hello Louis,
-If you are using latest version of CR Eclipse plugin using the report viewer,then I would recommend going for JAR files of this eclipse plugin than that of CR XI Server.
-The only reason being Eclipse plugin will give you most updated JAR files.
-Before using JAR files from Eclipse plugin, I would suggest you to update your present JAR files to latest available JAR files.
This can be done through Eclipse using update option.
And once you update them, you can use those JARs.
