Crystal Reports Server - Scheduling Report Exports

Dear Experts,
We are using Crystal Reports Server XI Edition and we would like to schedule report exports. Crystal Reports Server configuration console allows us to automate report exports but apparently we could not find a way to pass report parameters and formulas from any export management tab. Naturally, each report needs to take different parameters but to our knowledge CRS management console does not have a screen that prompts us to key in or to read dynamic report parameters and formula. It simply uses the default report parameters. Can you confirm this please?
To overcome this limitation, we are thinking of developing something like a script that directly interacts with CRS. The script would pass the name of the report, the report parameters and other relevant details like CMS username/ password.Do you think this is possible and if yes can you please point us to the key APIs required for scheduling report exports?

You are able to change the parameters for the report within the Central Management Console under the processing tab before scheduling.
Here is some sample applications that you can refer to in regards to doing this using the api:

Crystal Report Server - Scheduled Reports Have Failed - SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_SE

I would like to suggest you following things:
1) Please check the SMTP settings on the respective report's job server. Like Severname of the SMTP
server. Port number of the SMTP and domain.
2) Check whether are you able to send the mails from mail client to the desired destination.
3) Verify the Port number given to the SMTP, by default it is 25. And also verify it is not blocked on the
firewall.
4) Also verify whether ip address of the server machine where job server is installed is included in the
allowed list at the SMTP server end.

Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.

I am running reports on the web through Forms using Run_Report_Object built in. I am using Oracle 9iAS Enterprise Edition Release 1(1.2.2.2.2), Forms 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18.3) and Reports 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18) using CGI implementation. Most reports are running fine, but I have one that produces 125 pages and we are getting the following messages in the browser:
Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.
However if you look at the Reports Server Queue Status thru the browser it shows that the report did finish, but it took 16 minutes. But the user gets the above message in their browser window.
Is there a way to get the first page of the report to display, while the rest of the report finishes, so the browser window doesn't timeout and display the above error?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no limit on the report run time. The most probable reason why you are getting the 'Report cancelled upon user request' message is the users might have hit the "cancel Report" button which is displayed when it is running in 'SYNCHRONOUS MODE'. do not hit that button as it will terminate the report. to increase the speed of returning the results by the report, try improving the sql that you use in the report, or if you have DBA rights try adding in INDEXES on the columns of the tables used by the report.

I found the solution to my problem. It was nothing to do with
the cgicmd.dat keymap file, but the html form itself. It's
confused between the url arguments and form arguments from the
submit button. So, what I did was open a new window with all
arguments instead of using the submit function.

Crystal Report Server XI Report recurring instances do not work. Logs?

I have scheduled a report to be run every morning, and each instance return status is "success". However, I encountered the following problem when I try to view instances of the report: There is a long time period of waiting (seems to be waiting for some kind of timeout), and then eventually the message: "A request was cancelled. The necessary security privileges could not be verified. This indicates a problem with the security server."
I also noticed that in event viewer (windows server 2003) I see many failure audits to login to the sql database, and the events contain the login used in my data source.
It's interesting to note, that when I run a single instance of the report "Now" there is no problem.
Some info about the report which may be relevant:
The report uses 2 formula fields to auto-parameterize 2 of the 5 parameters used by a subreport. The other 3 subreport parameters are set when scheduling the report.
The subreport uses a call into a stored procedure in a MS SQL server 2005 database to retrieve its records.
The 2 fields which are parameterized are datetime fields (StartTime, EndTime), and the main report is basically just a wrapper to only show the previous day.
JDBC data source to local Sql server instance.
Also, the crystal report server XI install uses the same sql server instance to store CMS data under a separate database.
I'm stumped on this.
Has anybody encountered this problem?
Is there a simpler way to auto-parameterize the report?
Why are the failure audits occurring when I view the instance of the report? Is this because the instance is setup to use RPT output format?
Are there logs I can look into aside from event viewer? I can't find anything that looks relevant under program files, but perhaps I missed something.
The failure audits would make more sense to me if it occurred with the other report instances, but some instances are shown correctly, and some just do this timeout thing.

Crystal Reports Server - Sub Reports requesting SQL Log In

I have a Sales report which has four subreports. The main report has parameters for year and four product groups. The year parameter and one of the product group parameters are passed to each subreport. When I run the report in Crystal Reports only one SQL log in is requested. When the report is run from Crystal Reports Server the SQL log in for he main report is handled automatically by CR Server but the report then prompts for 4 SQL logins, one for each subreport. I am not using integrated securirty. How can I prevent the four SQL log ins?

From the question that you have posted, we would like to know the following things: -
1. Are the main report and the subreports using the same database connection?
2. Which type of viewer are you using in Infoview to view the reports?
3. How many connections do you see in the Database Source under Process Tab in the properties of the report in CMC?
Usually this issue can be resolved by using ActiveX or Java Viewer in the Enterprise.
Please try chaning the viewer and let us know if it helps.

How can Crystal Report Server send reports to Fax?

If we can fax these crystal reports directly from the server (instead of printing them out and fax them using a fax machine), then there should be significant labor saving as well as less delay to deliver the report.
I wonder if other people can send Crystal Reports to a fax machine. Any addtional hardware or software are needed to send fax from Crystal Report Server?

Hello,
Crystal Report Server is not able to send reports directly to a fax.
However, you can send them to a printer.
Now I believe there are some Fax softwares that emulate a printer (like Right Fax).
So it might be a possible solution to get your document faxed like that.
Have a look at it but keep in mind that the official answer from SAP is that it's not supported.

After restart Oracle Report Server some reports start automatically to run.

When our report server is restarted always a number of reports are started automatically.
I don't know why these are started automatically?
Is there a avoid starting these reports?

If you are storing the jobs on the database then please check:
Using the Reports Server Queue PL/SQL Table and API - RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE (Doc ID 72531.1)
otherwise just rename the report server .dat files
1- Go to $ORACLE_HOME/reports/server directory
2- Rename Reports Server dat file.
Unix example :
mv reports_server_name.dat reports_server_name.dat.old
3- Try again to start Reports Server
Possible causes of the issue are:
1.scheduled jobs
or
2.restart of report server while some jobs were waiting in the queue

Reports Server/running reports on the web.

I am trying to configure my web server to run reports on the web. I have followed the instructions provided by Oracle, but some is not clear. When i try to run report on the browser, i get the following error:
CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:
Oracle documentaion say the following about the steps to configure the web server:
1-Start your Web server by entering the following:
2-Start your browser.
3-Create a listener.
4-Configure your Web server mapping and note the physical and virtual directories. For example:
I have done all the steps above except creating a listener. The documentation doesnt explain that step at all.
I have created a cgi-bin directory and made it excetable and copied the rwcgi60.exe from reports server machine to the web server machine. I also copied the TNSNAMES entry for the web server from the reports server machine to the web server machine.
Here is the command i use(just trying to make sure that web CGI is responding, but it doesnt work)
http://web_server/scm/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe
Other question: On the server machine, i have 3 oracle directories: ORA81, ISUITES, 806, which one should be the home directory for the reports to work on the web??
I am using oracle 8.1.7 with 9iAS release 1.

people with legacy CGI. It is not intended to support people with new
development to -- we encourage you to use JSP and servlets.

URGENT: 9i report server for reports (9i ver) deployed on Weblogic6.1

Hi,
My company's product is a web-based reporting application running on WebLogic6.1 and Reports6i. I have recommeded using Reports9i due to its vast array of features. In the test environment, I have been able to successfully integrate Reports9i on WebLogic through the Reports9i J2EE Thin Client.
I would like to know that, for production, is it possible to use this same configuration to pass requests to a stand alone oracle9i report server as was the case in 6i. Since we are already using weblogic6.1 in production and cannot migrate the entire application to oracle9ias appserver just for using the reporting functionality.

I would suggest you to read the readme which is available with the Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client.
Please note that for testing and development purpose,
your configuration of "Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client for WebLogic used to pass request to a standalone Report9i Server installed through the Oracle9i Developer Suite." is perfectly O.K
However, To use in deployment / production environemnt, you must have a license of Oracle 9i Application server

Hi Konrad,
Query builder is an application which gets deployed when you deploy the BO applications like CMC/BILaunchPad.
The name of the application is AdminTools. You can check with your admin/deployment team if you have it deployed.
You would be exceuting the below url to access the application
http://<servername>:<port>/AdminTools
The name is case sensitive so follow the same case.
It would be best to run your queries in AdminTools application rather than running those directly on CMS tables though management studio. Running queries directly on CMS databse tables is not recommended.

Difference between report server and a report engine
Report engine is a part of Report server..When ever a report server starts then the report engine gets initialized and gets available at the same time.
If Report server is down,Report Engine also goes down.

Now consider this example,
If you have set you Max and Min engine to 3,
Now assume,3 users have simultaneously sent request to execute a report.
These 3 request will be handled by 3 engines available in the report server.
Now in between this,if the 4th user tries to execute another report..since all the engines are full,this request will be in the queue and will be executed once any report engine gets free.
Multiple report server will be helpful,As the load gets balanced between different report servers.

ALV Report - Production Scheduling Report

Hello Gurus,
I need to write an ALV report of open production order operations per selection criteria. If the production orders are linked to any sales order, then the result of ALV should also contain the sales order data.
Selection screen should contain -
Plant(required), Production order number(optional), Material number (optional), Work center (optional).
If the system statuses of the production orders are not TECO, CLSD, DV then they are considered as open.
The ALV report should contain the following fields.
SO Number, PO Nbr, Ship-to-address, Material availability date, Req ship date, Last confirmed date, Ship via, Sales order line item, Pro Ord Nr, Plant, Pro ord cre date, Material Nbr, Material desc, Order qty, UOM, Sch Start date, Sche finish date, user status, MRP ctrler, Remaining hrs etc.
Please guide me how to proceed to achieve the required report.

Oracle Report Server pdf report

I am running a report via a URL through rwservlet. The settings are DESFORMAT=pdf&DESTYPE=cache
The report runs and displays via Adobe Reader in the IE window the URL was submitted on. The is exactly the behaviour we want.
When we choose the Adobe save button it pops up the save dialog box with the URL as the filename. We do not want it to do that. We want to suggest a filename to use.
I tried setting the Content Disposition as suggested in other postings. I set it to "inline" and gave it a filename via a parameter on the URL. It displayed the report in the IE window as we wanted - but It ignored the filename and used the URL when saving via Adobe. I set it to "attachment" and it used the filename I sent in the URL - but popped up the Save/Open dialog instead of directly displaying the report in the IE window. When you hit Open it opened a new Adobe Reader window. We definitely don't want that.
I also tried playing with mimetype as suggested in other postings. This did not do me any good either.
Is this not something that can be done? Or am I just not getting all the settings correct?

You are not alone with this irritating problem.
When i try to email the report via Acrobat Reader - the filename is: rwservlet (and no fileextension). There must be a way to overwrite this rwservlet.
I found a suggestion where a programmer suggest to redirect the output to another jsp-file - which includes Java-code...

Anyway isn't there a more "simple" approach...
