Crystal Server Permissions to pull reports

I have a problem when I try to pull a report (no matter who created it) if I use the Administrator I can pull a report, but if I use other user I cannot pull. When I use Administrator to pull a report and after this other user (no Administrator) tries to pull the same report he can, but if he tries again he cannot.
The error when other users try to pull reports not using Administrator is: "Server not found or server may be down".
I gave "full control" to all the users, but the same error. Only the Administrator can pull reports (objects)
Crystal Server is installed on Linux.
How can I fix it?

One has to go to Servers and Rights. Change the rights for the groups from Not Access to View and to apply.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 connecting to Crystal Server 2011

    Hello SAP Experts,
I am new with the Crystal Client/Server platform and the only knowledge I have with the infrastructure is from the Crystal Server 2011 documentation I have pulled from SAP's website.  I have looked at a lot of online resources but very few have the answers that I need.
I built an instance of Crystal Server 2011 running on Windows Server 2008 R2.  Our clients are currently using Crystal Reports 2008 client where they connect directly to a SQL 2008 Data Warehouse to pull reports.
For security reasons, they want to implement Crystal Server 2011 to connect to the SQL 2008 Data Warehouse as a single point of entry, instead of having several Crystal Reports 2008 clients connecting to the SQL Data Warehouse.
The idea is to have the clients connect to the Crystal Server; the Crystal Server will then connect to the SQL Data Warehouse so clients can pull reports from it.
    My questions are:
    1.  Is it possible to connect a Crystal Reports 2008 client to Crystal Server 2011?  If so, how do I accomplish this?
    2.  Do I need to create a Universe in order for the Crystal clients to pull data/reports from the SQL 2008 Data Warehouse?  Or is there a way I can create a connection without a Universe?
Any help offered is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Check our site for more info but in general CR fully respects all DB security, if the user does not have permissions on the table used in the report the report will fail to run.

  • Error running reports from Crystal Server XI R2 with datasets

Hi, sorry if my english is not good. I'm from Spain.
I have a problem. I'm programming with Visual Basic .NET 2008.
I'm using Crystal Reports Server and programming under Visual Basic to take reports from crystal Server, changing the tables from the report to datasets and scheduling this report.
Crystal server change connections to CrystalReports.Dataset.
Preview reports from server sends me an error "DataBase connector unknown"
If I run this report (with datasets) into my VBNET application (into a  CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer control), IT WORKS!!!
I need help because I need to schedule these reports (to send them by email, export to PDF formats, ...)

Reporting off of a dataset is reporting off of a disconnected datasource.  The reason your application works is beacuse you most likely populating a dataset in your application and passing it to the report at the same time.  When scheduling, there is no interaction with the report so unless the report is using an xml file on disk as its datasource, how can it retrieve data?
To get around this, you can build a dll (.net data provider) that returns either a dataset or datatable and point your report to this dll.  this way, when the report is executed, it loads the dll which fetches the data for you.
    - so the first step is to compile a dll that returns a dataset or datatable.
    - to design your report off of this dll open the database expert and create a new ADO.NET connection.
    - in the File Path area, click the ellipsis ("...") button to browse to your dll and make sure the selected File Type is ".Net DataSet Provider".
    - once the dll is selected, you can choose the dataset/table returned by the dll.
If your method in the dll is parameterized, it will add a parameter to the report (similar to stored procedure parameters.
note: the location of your dll must be in the same path on the CR Server as it was when you designed your report in order for it to be loaded correctly.  I usually put the dll in a folder that I know will exist on both machines.

  • Crystal Reports 10 Enterprise Server Issue - Exporting Large Reports to PDF

Weu2019re implementing a Crystal Reports 10 Server for a customer but weu2019re having an issue with exporting large reports to PDF.  The report size that starts to show this issue is roughly 300 pages with 20 records per page.  We use the default Crystal ActiveX viewer.
Basically what happens is that the user will launch the report in the ActiveX viewer and the large report will take a while to load, as much as 3 to 4 minutes.  The user may then wish to export to PDF.  Once they attempt it with these large reports the viewer will basically hang and possibly be processing but will then time-out after roughly 5 minutes with this error:
    u201CProxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /thinqreports/THINQCrystalInterface.asp.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
    IBM_HTTP_Server/6.1.0.9 Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) Server at lmsproxy.aurora.org Port 443u201D
We believe this error is coming from a server on our network.  We have a proxy server between users and the Crystal Server that has a 5 minute time-out for connections.  What we want to know is:
    - Is there a way to speed up this export to PDF process?
    - Should the Crystal Viewer be keeping an http connection alive to the Crystal Report Server while its doing this export process?
    - If not, what port does Crystal Viewer use to communicate with the Crystal Report Server?
    - Is there something we can set in Crystal to keep an http connection open?
    - What is actually occurring during this export process?
Occasionally, we may get the above error when simply launching a report, not just attempting to export to PDF.  We presume that is because loading the report into the Crystal Viewer from the Crystal Report Server is taking longer than 5 min.
    Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks.
    Scott

    Scott,
As this is happening within Enteprise (and I am assuming the report does not time out in the Crystal Reports Designer) I would suggest posting this to the BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration
    forum.
My limited Enterprise knowledge would be to suggest scheduling the report as PDF but I don't know if that is a viable option for you.

  • Report works in Crystal Reports, but not when scheduled in Crystal Server

    Hi,
I have a pretty simple report designed in Crystal Reports 2008. Basically it shows a list of call notes (memo field) from customer activities in our CRM system. The report works fine in Crystal reports, but when run or scheduled in Crystal Server 2008 the output is always blank. Furthermore, the page format etc. is "lost" in crystal server, so that the output is PDF of a quadratic blank sheet (not my standard A4 format)... Exporting to other formats - excel, Word etc. all gives the same result.
I have tried to strip out various formulas, formatting etc from the report, but nothing helps. Which leads me to thinking that the real problem is that the report contains a memo field? Anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Claus,
I've had issues between what Crystal does and what the Report Server does.  To resolve this, we found out Crystal Reports 2008 latest service pack has some things that will fix Server 2008 and they aren't in the latest Server update.
We updated Crystal Reports 2008 on our machines.  Installed the latest update for Crystal Server and then installed Crystal 2008 on the Report Server and installed the Crystal Reports 2008 update.  A lot of our compatibility issues went away after that.
    Good luck,

  • Crystal Report not working when posting the report to the Crystal Server.

    Hi All,
I created a report using Crystal Reports 2008 with two ODBC connections (User DSN's). When I run the report in Crystal Reports (where I originally created it) it runs fine with no problems.
I am now trying to load it on Crystal Server 2008. When I try to run this report in InfoView, I get a message: "Error Failed to open the connection." I am thinking that it has to do with the ODBC connections but I am not quite sure. Could someone lead me in the right direction? How will the report that I now saved in the repository on the server connect to the ODBC stream?
       Thank you in advance.

Solved my problem. I had to tweak the ODBC drivers on the server.

  • How do I create a report of what is run and when on Crystal Server

In crystal server, how do I create a report that will tell me the name of all of my reports and the time it is scheduled to run?
I get the feeling it is in the Query Builder,  but I have no idea what the names of all of these tables are.
Anyone ever done this or know of another way to do this?

  • How can I get a Listing of all scheduled reports from Crystal Server 9?

    Hello,
    Can anyone help?
A colleague and I are trying to find out when we can schedule a server reboot (Crystal Reports 9). We can look at individual jobs but we don't seem to be able to find a list of all the jobs and when they occur.
We need to do this as we would like to schedule a regular server reboot without interrupting jobs.
As you may be able to tell, my colleague and I have little Crystal knowledge, but we have found our selves looking after this server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for your response.
Do you remember what kind of installation process you have followed while installing your crystal enterprise.
It will prompt for client installation and server installation.
If you have installed client products then you wont have instance manager in your list of products.
Else  if you don't have instance manager in crystal server 9, then for buying the product you should contact your accounts manager.
He can reach the CIC people through your company and based on your license agreements you can the product.
Just let me know if you have any queries.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Error adding report to Crystal Server 2011

I have a report that runs against Salesforce.com that I'm trying to add to Crystal Server 2011.  The server is running version 14.0.2.364 of BI.  When I try to add the report through either the CMC or through the BI Launch Pad I get the same error.
"An error has occurred: Adding Crystal Report "Quarterly Report 2011 with MF v3-2 Les Testing.rpt" failed. The server with kind rptappserver returned an error result. Failed to copy the report file to the report object. Refreshing the report object properties might have failed. Failed to read data from report file C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\CrystalReportsRasServer\temp\{7FD511B8-F5DF-42AC-98D7-D2C43B1C458B}.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object "
If I try to add it by saving from Crystal Reports I get "Item 1 was not found in the collection"
I'm logging on as administrator in both cases to the CR server.  I did find a thread where it was suggested that checking the "No Printer" box under page setup may fix it so I tried that but got the same results.  I also saw some references to firewalls, but the server is on a local subnet to my machine and all windows firewalls are turned off.
The server is a fresh install of 2008 R2 and a demo download of CR Server 2011 and Client Tools.
Any help on a direction here would be greatly appreciated.  I've been banging my head against this for a while now.

I cannot offer much help, but I see the same issue.
When I create a report in Developer it runs fine in Developer, but it will not load up to Crystal Server.  I can save the report with a new name and 50% of the time it will load to the Server.  Sometimes when I try to load the report, it seems the Server is thinking for a long time.  I hit "OK" button on server screen and then "Cancel"  the report SOMETIMES shows in the list of reports.  I just witnessed saving a non-loading report as another report and successfully loaded it into Server, then I ran the report in developer, closed it and tried to reload it to the server and it failed.
It appears to be completely random.
My gut tells me it has to do with the Salesforce driver (i.e. when I run it from Developer, the driver pollutes the report and chokes loading it on the server?)
    Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Migrating all configuration  from Crystal Reports Server XI R2 to Crystal Server 2013

    Hi,
We're running an old Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP version (boe 11.5)  and we're planning to start using Crystal Server 2013
As far as I know no upgrade is possible and that's not needed either.
Instead I'm interested in the migrate possibilities. I saw this thread but it doesn't answer all the questions https://scn.sap.com/thread/3462417
So first I will install Crystal Server 2013 on a new server and then I use some migrate tool.
    Questions:
    - does the migrate tool support migrating from my version CR server XI R2 SP1  to  Crystal Server 2013 ?
    - does the migrate tool copy all report schduling information (recurring schedule, destination etc)? We have ~1000 scheduled reports so doing manually is not an option
    - does the migrate tool copy Business views/Business view connections ?
(- odbc data sources are probably not copied but that's ok)
    -Mikael

    Hi Mikael,
Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
    Anwers to your questions:
    1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
    2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
    3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

  • C# retrieve report from SAP Crystal Server

I have installed SAP Crystal Server on a Windows 2012 Server machine. The installation looks fine. I can run the Central Management Console and everything appears to be up and running.
I have a Windows application running on my local machine and all I want to do is run a report.
    myRCDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    myRCDoc.ReportAppServer = _server;
    object path = reportName;
    myRCDoc.Open(ref path, 0);
    I get the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in Billings.exe
Additional information: Failed to connect to server "ENTBSQ01".
How do I make the server reachable from my windows code?

    Thanks Dell!
I'm currently not logging into the CMS.
I'm not clear when you ask "working with reports from CRS"?
The *.rpt files are indeed stored on the server.  My windows app simply calls ReportClientDocument.Open to get the report.  I'm assuming that means I am indeed working with reports from CRS.
I'll try to logging in part first and then move to checking the SDK.
    Thanks again!
    -Terry

  • Report Alerts are not shown on crystal server 2011

    Hi,
I have created alerts on From date and To Date. The alert is shown when the difference between From Date and To Date is more than an year. It is shown properly in the crystal report designer. When I am uploading the same report to the server the alerts are not shown on the server.
Can someone help me with the same.
    Thanks,
    Simran

    Hi Jawahar,
I have uploaded the report in CMC using Add--> Local Document.
For Alerts I have checked the Box 'Enable Alert'. Still I am not getting a Pop Up which I get in the crystal report designer. Is the Alert sent on Crystal Server by email? I have currently selected default setting in Configure Alert Notification.

  • Can't upload reports to crystal server

    Hello guys,
    First is the system info:
Crystal Server XI R2 with SP3
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 6)
    Database: Oracle DB 10g
This issue shall be divided into two parts.
    Parts one:
Before the server is reinstalled we can upload some reports. But there is some limitation. When one report is changed, we can't upload it to the server directly. This report should be renamed to a different name then it can be uploaded. If we don't do so it fails with an error message says 'An unexpected error has occurred'. So every time we need to rename reports and then upload them. This workaround is OK for some reports but not all of them. No matter how we reboot the machine or restart the crystal server.
    Part two:
One day the machine crashed and we reinstalled the crystal server. But this time it won't accept any report at all. Still it accepts other file such as *.Doc, *.PDF Etc. Every time we try to upload a report and we get an error message says 'An unexpected error has occurred'. If we use CMC to upload a report we get something more detail says 'There was an error while retrieving data from the server: Unknown exception occurred when calling into the plugin'.
BTW, all reports are tested in report designer. They are 100% OK. All services of the crystal server are up and running.
And one more thing, how can I attach file in this forum. I want to give dear you the log files to refer to.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi
It would be easier if you would keep this all in the same topic.
As suggested in you other thread ([Can't upload reports to crystal |Can't upload reports to crystal server]), this is very likely to be a permission problem.

  • Crystal Reports Server 8.5/Web Reporting Launch Kit/Crystal Enterprise 8.5

I have an old IIS 5.0 server which is serving up our company's Crystal 8.5 reports.  The time has come to decommision that server, so I would like to migrate the IIS configuration to a new server.  However, I have been unable to locate the media necessary to install the server side component on the new IIS server.  The first question I have is, what is the product name I should be looking for?  My research has been inconclusive, identifying Crystal Reports Server 8.5, Web Reporting Launch Kit, and Crystal Reports 8.5 Enterprise Edition as possible product names.  My second question is, how can I go about obtaining replacement media for the product?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Peet,
The software might work on windows 2008 server. However, if there are any error messages or bugs found while using it will not be addressed as the product has not be tested on this platform. (As also the technical support for versions 9.2 and earlier has already ended, so Product Group no longer works on the bugs or supported platform for these products.)
A better idea would be to install the products CR 10 and higher on Operating Systems which have been tested. That ways you can be sure that the the product is supposed to work correctly on a particular setup.
Please do let us know your thoughts about it.
    Cheers!
