CS3 3d animation capabilities

I know nothing about 3d animation. But with the new 3d capabilities of cs3 in photoshop, i know you can open a 3d object and you can manipulate the texturs and you can move and manipulate it spacially. But can you set keyframes to the object and actually animate them in photoshop and export them as an animation file or a video file even or something. I know cs3 has merged photoshop with the image ready animation capabilities, is there a way to use the same animation tools to animate a 3d object?

I would ask this question on the main photoshop forum. You are on the Photoshop Developers (SDK) forum.

I would like to see targets have "fly-in" animation capabilities to be used with menus, panels, etc. I would be great to click on a trigger and have a menu fly in from left, right, top or bottom  - control it the way you do with scrolling effects.

Plus you will need to buy a Blu ray DVD burner.
There have been discussions about quality issues with iMovie 08 because it uses single field processing to create the video images. Basically, this removes half of the lines of resolution from your original footage. This has to create some loss of quality. iMovie HD6, on the other hand, does not do this, keeping both fields intact.
iMovie 08 was really created to appeal to You Tubers and other web video users, where high quality is less of an issue. iMovie HD6 and previous versions were created to appeal to the budding moviemaker who wants a pro style editing platform with great quality, but ease of use, as compared to Final Cut programmes. That's also why iMovie HD6 was designed to work solely with miniDV tape cams, in either SD or HD format. DV Stream is a lossless format that produces superior results to any of the other high compression formats, such as AVCHD.
So, you need to spend more money to get HD DVDs, but your quality will suffer using iMovie 08, which your camcorder forces you to do. Perhaps some consideration of a suitable cam to begin with will be of help.

  • Add animation capabilities in Adobe Muse

Can you please consider adding animation capabilities in Adobe Muse (similar to what we have in Adobe InDesign)?
    Regards,
    RK

I know we can import .swf files into Muse. But, it would be great if we had InDesign's animation capabilities built into Muse so that we could apply those effects to Muse's widgets. One example - by clicking a button, we could have a simple contact form fade in from the left.

  • My first CS3 Flash animation in iWeb is done: Feedback pls!

    http://www.padmehum.de
It is pretty straight forward. With html snippet i made the page home.hmtl point Banner.html which i had created with CS3 Flash earlier.
Unfortunately the public IE computer i used to check cross plattform tolarency failed to run the flash part. As it was a public computer with very restricted accounts i couldn't check if the computer had Adobe Flash Player installed or not. According to Adobe Flash Player website Flash player should run on 98% worldwide. Can someone check my site with IE pls. and give feedback.

  • PSD CS3 extended / animation problem

    Hi,
    I have a picture on a layer.
I can easily animate it in a straight line.
Problem: I also want to rotate the image as it moves in the same layer.
    Can this be done ?
Or do I have to put as many layers as needed just to rotate ?
    Thank you,
    Alain

    Alain,
Which axis do you want to rotate around?

  • Animated GIF - Animation slows after save CS3

    Hello,
When Saving an animated GIF in Photoshop CS3 the animated frames slow when viewed after the save. Therefore any gradient fades etc seem to stutter, about 25% slower than the frame rate set initially.
When the animation is played in photoshop it plays at the right speed, only slows when viewing the file after saving...
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks
    Andy

I just experienced the same problem in Photoshop. 22 frames with "no delay" selected in all of them. When opening the animation in IE6 and Firefox it runs slower than the original.
Therefore, would you be kind to post it if you found a solution?
    Hope to hear something soon.
    Thanx!

  • Animation tools in Photoshop?

I am presently using Photoshop CS3 for animations and I must say that the tools are simple and easy to underatand. but I can't help noticing that most of the features pertaining to the animation aspect of Photoshop has not be improved since ImageReady. Now I have been trying to tween layer scale and rotate transformations but it doesn't work,if you scale a layer in a frame,it affects the others.
Pls,I am asking the developers to add the following features for Photoshop CS6:
Motion Tween presently has layer position, opacity and effects(It has been this way since Image Ready to CS5).Kindly add scale, rotate, and other transformations.I do not know why this has not been added.
-Also allow importation of audio files preferably wav,asf files.
I am begging you guys. This software is very popular around the world. If you add these,it will make animating so much easier.Right now,I have to make the frames into layers and resize each layer to animate scale transforms and it is time consuming.

Well..to some Photoshop might not appear like an ideal tool for animation but most people use Photoshop for drawing and painting and its better than most softwares in this respect though I hear corel painter is cool.So wouldn't it be cool for people who use Photoshop for drawing and painting and are familiar with it features to use it for animating.I do not know what you have against the software.
I enjoy animating the traditional way.Thats my own preference. It encourages creativity and I do not consider it tedious at all. Some people still make use of the lightbox for animating.I have tried Anime Studio and I hated the graphics and the whole drawing a character and sticking bones, painting skin weights that leads to bad deformation in certain areas.Keyframing with numbers and all that stuff. The animated movements look robotic.Animated shows like atomic betty and King Authur seem like softwares done with Anime Studio.I hate all those long process and key framing and whatever workflow.
With Photoshop, all I need to do is just draw.Thats all.To some people, drawing and colouring every frame may be work but I enjoy doing that.I even know of someone who used Flash and switched to Photoshop because of its graphics capablilities are far better than Flash.
I realize Photoshop might be lacking some features but because it does doesn't mean its not an ideal tool.Thats your opinion. If its not,why does the extended version have timeline animation(which I dislike).Simply put,Its not up to you to decide whether Photoshop gets these features or not.Adobe will decide.Stop discouraging them.Adobe might even make these features available as a plugin or patch that will be compatible with CS3 upwards.I enjoy using it for animation presently.
Here is something I did in Photoshop some time back.Took me two days:
Was real fun to animate. There are others far better than me.I hope I get better so Adobe,I will really appreciate it if these features are added.

  • Photoshop animated smart object to Flash??

    Hey All,
I could use a little help here, I am working on this project for a company and they need it to be animated. I tried using Photoshop's animation capabilities, but could only go so far with that. So I'm working on it in flash now. I have managed to import the scene I was working on in Photoshop to flash, but I can't seem to figure how to get the animated smart object (with a screen layer blending mode) to come across in flash. I'm sure there is some super simple way of doing this, but I can't think of one. I've got years of experience with Photoshop, but little time with Flash.
When I import the PSD file to Flash I am selecting the animated smart object layer as "Bitmap image with editable layer styles" selected, and have it also selected to be a movie clip. But it only shows up as a static layer without the screen blending like it was in Photoshop. What am I doing wrong here?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Paul you may want to ask this question over in the AI forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator its audience may have more experience then this forum's audience with Illustrator and Photoshop combo many here only use Photoshop. I for example have no idea what you mean when you write  a spot color.

  • Masks in CS3 not working

I did this tutorial here (even though I did not need it) to
see if what I was doing on my own was wrong but I found out that it
is not. Is anyone having problems with CS3 not showing masks when
you publish to SWF? in the timeline the mask works fine but when I
test movie or publish the mask is no where to be found. Everything
is blank all I see is the stage itself.
To see the tutorial go here
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/
then select flash CS3, then animation, then its the 5th one
    down on the list.
Anyone have any idea how to fix my problem please post. Thank
    you in advance.

Well the problem isnt in the movie its when i run the swf.
The mask doesnt show up all i see is the background.
    Any ideas?

  • 5003 Error from Looping 3D animation

    Hey all,
I routinely convert Flash animations to video by importing them into After Effects. Before doing this, I always switch all Movie Clips to Graphic Loops so the animations play live in the timeline... Its the only way to have nested animations show up when you import .swfs into After Effects - I think!
Well, I've never had any problems with this, it always works great. Until now. I've always wanted to add a little true 3D to my animations and was stoked on the inclusion of this in CS 5. I made a loop of 3D stripes on the "ground" of an animation (looking out the window of a train car, the 3D strips are to simulate passing vineyards) and it looks AWESOME! So, in preparation for taking the whole thing over to After Effects, I switched the loop (not the tween itself with the actual 3D effect, which I know can only be applied to a Movie Clip) to a Graphic Symbol, extending it to the end of the main timeline, and switched to loop. Inside Flash, it appears to work perfect, showing the 3D pan live when I scrub the playhead. Again, AWESOME! Then, I go to preview the movie and it breaks when compiling for some reason. giving me the "5003" Error. I'm so confused about this, because no other "movie clip" attribute, when applied to a movie clip that is nested, for live playback reasons, inside a looping Graphic symbol gives me a problem. I can use any filter, any blend mode no problem. If it works for live playback on the main timeline, it works for the published .swf and looks great when rendered to raster video in After Effects.
A lot of people say I should switch to After Effects if the end animation is intended to be video. The problem is that I love the animation environment in Flash and for my style it is perfect. I don't  do alot of swooping or panning or whatever kind of stuff that AE is great for. Plus, synching sound is easier for me within flash. Soooo... My question is, has anyone found a way to make use of the 3D animation capabilities of CS5 in a way that is exportable to video, ie. AE? Is there a way to adjust my file to avoid the 5003 error? Or, on the other hand, is there a better way to import .swfs into After Effects that makes use of non-interactive looping movie clips?
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your comments Mylenium, I originally thought it might be VRAM, but at 1gb (still quite an acceptable size from what I can tell - I'd expect more than 3 x 3d files for that) I originally dismissed it as the complexity of the files seemed quite low for it to be this. I'm still not completely convinced its the VRAM though because of the error message it gives, and have tried it on more complex 3d models and using more of them and it works fine on those. Seems odd about not letting me create a new document too. Would like the money get a 6gb card but a bit out of the budget range at the moment.
Do you know of a way to "optimise" 3d files so they take up less VRAM, for example reducing any unwanted textures, materials, vertices or faces within PS in a similar fashion to how illustrator can reduce the complexity/ number of shapes/ points etc? Cant ask the client as they dont have the time or I'd do this . Does rendering quality make a difference, or changing to a smart object? Doesnt seem to from what I've tried.
Re: using a dedicated 3d program, I'd be a bit reluctant to lose the ability to rotate / edit/ draw onto/ light etc objects within Photoshop now that I have a taste for it and go back to just using 3d renderings, otherwise I'd go down the route as suggested for a dedicated 3d package. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Add 3D Modeling, Simulation, and Animation to LabView

I am posting to announce the availability of RoboWorks software.
RoboWorks is an easy to use software tool for 3D modeling, simulation
and animation of any physical system. It provides an inexpensive
alternative to hardware (especially robotic) and brings 3D simulation
to every desktop. When using RoboWorks you will benefit from:
    * Extremely intuitive model development
    * High quality, fully interactive 3D graphics
    * Lightweight files that conserve disk space
    * Full animation, even while building your model
    * Interfacing with popular software packages
Most analysis and visualization software such as Matlab, MathCad, and
LabVIEW support graphics limited to charts and graphs. RoboWorks adds
    3D modeling a
nd animation capabilities to these software packages. Now
you can do your analysis in the software of your choice and visualize
and animate your results in RoboWorks.
RoboWorks supports interactive animation via the keyboard (animate as
you build your model), through a data file, or through RoboTalk.
RoboTalk is an Open Source applications programming interface that
allows programs running on any platform that supports TCP/IP to
interact with and control RoboWorks models in real time. For example,
your control program running on Linux can now control your mobile robot
    simulation in RoboWorks in real-time.
RoboWorks comes with full-featured help and a variety of sample models
such as those shown at left. Also included are sample RoboTalk
programs, LabVIEW support, program-interfacing support through DLL's
and RoboTalk source code for non-supported platforms.
For more information email us at [email protected] or visit

    Before you buy.

Well, what you mention in your two sentences is somewhat of an Oxymoron. 3D modeling and animation, decent software and simple to use don't belong in the same sentence let alone paragraph. This is a FCP forum but I'll answer with my 2cents as I am a motion graphic artist that does 3D animation. There are about 6 different 3D applications that are worth their salt. Maya, 3ds Max, Softimage, Cinema 4D, Houdini and Blender. All are quite capable. None are what I would call simple to use. If you want to do 3D animation you need skills in modeling, texturing, rendering, lighting, rigging, animation, dynamics, drawing and script programming just to get started. If you are not up to spending the time and effort in having someone train to learn these skills and to spend the $$ for the hardware and software, what I would recommend is outsourcing your initial projects to get you started so you get an appreciation for what is really required to do the job and then once you understand all that is needed, you will have a better understanding of what software would fit for what you are trying to accomplish.
    BTW I do freelance work.

  • Seemingly Simple Animation Needed

I have 3 words displayed on one slide. I simply want two of them to disappear and the third one to move to the center.
Making the two disappear is easy. I can't figure out how to make the third one slide to the center afterward. I'm using KN2. Can this be done in KN3?
More sophisticated animation capabilities would be nice - like being able to have an object follow a path.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
    Steve

I have 3 words displayed on one slide. I simply want
two of them to disappear and the third one to move to
    the center.
Well, as it turns out, where there's a will, there's a way. It's not an ideal solution, but I simply repositioned the word on subsequent slides with the slide transition set to automatic and no delay. This simulates movement across the slide. The movement is not smooth, but you can play with transition effects to make it interesting.

  • Animation palette non-existent

I have photoshop version 8, or CS3 and everywhere I have read it says that I should be able to create animation. I thought is was a good idea for a class project but when I looked, I couldn't find the animation palette. I have looked everywhere but it has seemed to disappear.
I thought someone could help me. Do I need to install a plug-in or software? Does CS3 have animation?
    Thank you in advance

I realized after I posted that the photo was too small so you could
n't see that I was in window but that there was no animation choice and it went right to brush
    Sorry about that

  • Can Adobe Photoshop CS4 be used for 3d modeling?

hello, I know Adobe Photoshop Extended can be used for 3d modeling but can just the normal Adobe Photoshop CS4 be used in the same way because i dont feel like buying it for $1000 but I need Photoshop for my 3d models for texturing. So can the normal Photoshop be used the same way as the Extended can and will not make a difference? Thanks
    Stephen

I know Adobe Photoshop Extended can be used for 3d modeling
No - it can't do 3d modelling - what it can do is 3D rendering, to some extent. Photoshop CS4 extended only has primitives (cubes, rhombus etc) and these are not editable. So full 3d rendering is not possible. You have to load in models created in other software,
Extended's 3D capabilities are in the process of development - meaning that they decided to INTRODUCE it into CS3 and 4, but its far from the finished article. Both in terms of interface and capabilities. Now the rendering, animation capabilities, and ease of use is better than most people realise - but it sill has efficiency, and design problems, which need to be reassessed. Its more like BETA2 than finished product.
