CS3 Help Menu "Move Items" Dialog Box

CS 3.0.1, WinXP Pro. When I open the Help menu, I get a dialog box called "Move Items." It lists folders and says, "Select the place where you want to move 'help.html' then click the Move button." I click Cancel, it comes up again, I hit Cancel, and the html Help file opens. I recently hit the Move button, and had to repair the installation to get Help to work again. Must that dialog box come up?

Thanks Peter. However, the Move button blanks out when I choose that folder (which makes sense). If I move it somewhere else, Dr. Watson Postmortem shuts down and everything locks up or Help no longer works. Guess I'll just live with the infinitesimal inconvenience of the situation as is. I rarely use the Help menu, so it's not a big deal.

InDesign CS3 Help Menu opens constantly

The InDesign CS3 Help Menu opens constantly every time I click anywhere in a document to do anything.
Such as draw a box, insert type, anything. It virtually renders the program unuseable. I click to make an addition to a doc, travel up to the help menu to close it, do my thing, then repeat for the next action. Reinstalling has not stopped this. I cannot disable the Help Menu (which would be a fine solution BTW). I cannot afford to upgrade to CS4 right now. I am not sure that would stop it anyway. Photoshop, Illustrator, no other program in the CS3 suite exhibits this behavior. Anybody got any ideas? I recently recreated my whole OS and all programs on a new hard drive out of necessity. InDesign was doing this before that rebuild, and it does it now (after the reinstall). CS3 was reinstalled clean. That did solve a serial # issue with Acrobat where it wouldn't launch. I didn't transfer anything from the old hard drive except e-mail and internet settings.

Are you using the default keyboard shortcut set or a custom one? Also, are you using any special mouse, keyboard or tablet input devices?
Try going to Edit->Keyboard Shortcuts->Help menu Product Area and see what the default Help shortcut is. Perhaps it has been set to something crazy like "mouse click". You may just set the Keyboard Shortcuts back to [Default] set and see if that does the trick too.
Alternatively, something either software or hardware related in your setup is frequently triggering that event, which may be the case if you have a non-apple kbd, mouse etc installed.

Restrict movement of dialog box

I have an internal frame when the user clicks a button a dialog box should pop up , how shall i restrict the movement of dialog box within the parent..(Desktoppane) i have used custom dialog box coz i need to capture the button click event.

You could use a JDesktopPane with JInternalFrames, this is their default behaviour. Read this section from the Swing tutorial on "How to Use Internal Frames":

Otherwise, you would have to add a ComponentListener to the JDialog. Whenever the JDialog is moved, you would check its location and if it is outside the bounds of the parent frame then you would reset its location. Here is a tutorial on "Using a Component Listener":

Photoshop CS3 Save and Save As Dialog box not working

I can't do a "save as" or "save for web" in photoshop cs3. The dialog box opens and I can't change anything but the file type pull down menu (and sometimes not even that). This problem happens sporadically.... but most of the time it doesn't work.
I have re-installed Photoshop cs3 but I still have the same problem.

I'm seeing exactly this same problem with Photoshop CS3 after the upgrade to 10.5.8. It appears that the dialog box never gets focus for "Save for Web and Devices" -- the title bar of the dialog is grayed out, while the main "Save for Web and Devices" panel still has focus. That means there's no way to clear the dialog, since the panel is waiting for it to return, but the dialog can't get any input. None of the standard resets work for any length of time. I seem to remember similar problems in a much earlier release of Mac OS X, but I can't be sure. Quite annoying.

Print Preview is missing from Firefox 6 on Mac OSX Lion in both File Menu and Print Dialog Box

The question says it all really. Print Preview option is missing from both the File menu and from the Print dialog box when you select Print. I use Print Preview a lot to avoid wasting paper.
A relevant issue might be that the Mac OSX app Preview is currently having trouble with various printers including my Xerox and so, temporarily, the default application for all Preview items is now Adobe Reader until Apple get their act together. Perhaps this is affecting things?

Help menu appears when dialogue box dismissed

I use CS3 on both OS10.4 and 10.5. I have noticed lately that when I dismiss a dialogue box or if it closes itself (eg the print dialogue box), the help menu appears. In addition, the cursor moves to another area of the screen. In order to continue working, I have to click away from the menu, which then closes and I can proceed. This happens with PS & ID in CS3 and ID in CS2. Is there a conflict somewhere (between mouse driver -- in this case Logitech --and CS for example?). Can anyone help please? Thank you.

Well, we are using fax attachment to Journal entries(JE) which is subject to approval. If a user deletes the attachment from JE I'm sending the express work item to refax the supporting documents so that it can be sent back for approval.
The problem here is, If the user deletes the attacment from FBV2, he gets the express message, goes to inbox, executes the work item to fax the supporting document which gets attached to JE and JE goes for approval. Once it is approved It gets posted in the background. If the user, who deleted the attachment remains in the inbox when JE is approved he is technically blocking the JE and hence posting is failing.
I can change the work item priority and send a normal work item and a mail to his outlook regarding the deletion and need for refaxing. But business wants express message to refax.

When left click drop down arrow and other items, dialog box constantly pops up instead of performing action. how can I turn it off, or must I uninstll mozilla?

When using mozilla for web searches, each time I click to correct a word or grammar a dialog box constantly comes up like a right click box asking if want to copy, cut correct spell etc. when I click to search at the magnifying glass another box keeps coming up. Seems like everything I left click when in mozilla springs up a dialog box. Pretty frustrating and does not happen when I use AOL search without mozilla. The right click box comes up as it should but need to lose this left click box or firefox. I already checked mouse touch pad properties and made sure R click main.

Scroll Bars Missing In New Item Dialog Box When Accessing Other Site Collection

I have run into a problem I am hoping someone can quickly inform me of what I am doing wrong. I am creating 2 hyperlinks on a page that will create new items in one of 2 separate lists (1 on each site collection). I tried using the same code in my CEWP for
each and encountered a funky issue, whenever I access a different site collection with the below code the dialog box says DIALOG for the title and there are no vertical scroll bars. Does anyone know how to tweak the below code (or improve it) to bring back
the scroll bars for the dialog box?

Help Product Improvement Program dialog box won't go away

When I re-opened the beta version of Fireworks CS4 last
night, there was a dialog box asking me whether or not I wanted to
participate in helping Adobe with product enhancement by submitting
information on my usage of Fireworks, but the bloody thing will not
close. There's options to select yes, no and a few other things,
but whenever I select anything it won't go away. Does anyone else
have this problem? And if so, is Adobe aware of it?

Yes, this problem has been reported already in the CS4 Beta
forum.

that topic, it appears that only Mac users reported the error
so far, and the only way out was to quit and restart Fireworks. I
think it would be a good idea to post your case there too.

CS3 Help menu opens after every command

I have a user that every time they finish a command like create a new document or rotate and object the help menu opens. This interrupts their workflow since you have to click off the menu before continuing. I have tried deleting the preferences but that didn't help. I have also booted into safe boot and this does resolve the issue. Is there an other setting or preference I can remove that would resolve this issue?

If I recall.. around the time of CS3 there were issues with Unsanity "haxies" causing this as well as other small third party OS add ons.
You might...
A) Include what OS you are using
B) If it's Mac OS, try booting into Safe Mode by holding down the shift key when starting up the system and see if the issue goes away.

CS3 page setup: in print dialog box???

I am confused about the page setup in CS3. Coming from Illustr. 10 if I started a drawing in landscape mode and wanted to change into portrait mode I had to change the document and page setup boxes. Now in CS3 there is only a document setup, the page setup is in the print dialog box. Can someone share some light on this?

I think the process is now as it always should have been. It was crazy always having to go to two different dialog boxes just to change one setting. The thinking here is that Illustrator is now smart enough to know to automatically adjust the Page Setup settings for you -- if you rotate the document from Landscape to Portrait for example, AI should be able to figure out on its own that you want it to print that was as well.
The main point here is that Page Setup options aren't needed much anymore -- most of the options are handled directly within Illustrator's Print dialog (and can hence be saved in Print Presets, etc).

Help with JOptionPane -- Popup Dialog Boxes

I need to create a popup dialog box that looks like this:

red = JTextField (Where the user will input a number that I need to store)
green = Drop Down List with 1,2,3 as choices
blue = JButtons for OK and Cancel
So yeah, I need an easy way to collect a bunch of information from the user, and this was the best way I could think to do it. The user has to enter a number for all of the fields, but is there any way for the field to have a value of 0 there by default?
I read some of the Java tutorials for using the JOptionPane's showXXXDialog but I wasn't sure if that can't of method could create such a complex dialog box. Any help would be really appreciated. How can I make that dialog box and get all the input I need from it?

Create a panel containing red and green and pass it as message to JoptionPane.showConfirmDialog with OK_CANCEL_OPTIONS to have blue. If it returns OK_OPTION read and use values from panel. That's it.

Need help with "get info" dialog box

1. What does "Part of compilation" Y/N, do for me?

1. when you import a compilation album (like an 80's compilation or something), itunes will import it as
song 1, artist 1, 80's greatest hits
song 2, artist 2, 80's greatest hits etc
Click part of a compliation means that, it means that it would keep them altogether rather than having lots of songs everywhere
2. If you start playing a song, then stop, part way through, when you next come to the song, itunes will remember where you left off
3. Albums like jean michel jarre, classical, mike oldfield, etc, have many songs which merge into each other. Having gapless album ticked will ensure that, when playing the album, there are no gaps between songs

I need help - Open windows and dialog boxes are ghosting and flashing.

My Mac Pro has recently come down with a "bug". When i open multiple windows they don't seem to cope well with each other and parts of the window behind will still show through the window in front in fragments. When downloading, the loading bar will also flicker and partly show the dialog box behind. The only thing that fixes the broken up windows/dialog boxes is to minimize then maximize again. At first i thought it was a memory issue but the problem occurs with no applications running except for finder. I have done several restarts, updated my software and have checked my hard drive in disk utility and everything appears okay?
I can still operate the machine but it's getting a little annoying. Can anyone help me here?

Try installing multitouch, and then see, while in windows, if you've successfully installed multitouch and multitouch mouse, you should have those drivers. Also check if you've installed trackpad and trackpad enabler.
