CS3 or wait for CS4?

Hi,
I've read bits and pieces of news for CS4 like 64 bit
support, new code or something and was just wondering if CS3 wont
upgrade to CS4?
I'm not the expert but I'm sure thats not the case. But I
don't want to upgrade to CS3 if a CS4 update wont be available. I
thought I read somewhere that the new code wont be compatible with
the PowerMac G5 only the Intel based ones? Since I don't have a
Intel Mac and if what I read was correct I was wondering if I
should get CS3 before its gone...
Anyone know a good news site with info?

Hard to say.
With all honesty, I would get flash just to get going and
learning, not bothering when
the upgrade will be out. Every day you can be one day ahead
of someone else in the industry
and learn stuff. Get your hands on flash now, upgrade when
available. And if happens that
new version won't work on your mac, then you have nothing to
worry about as you already have
fully functioning tool.

  • Problem installing CS3, being asked for CS4 disc

    Hi,
I'm having problem reinstalling CS3, during the installation I'm being asked to insert CS4 disc. All I want is to reinstall CS3.
Also, the liks to download CS3 products don't work.
Anybody can help me with this? Thanks!

Karniak which operating system are you using?  I would recommend removing any current installations for Adobe Creative products on your computer.  Once removed please use the CC Cleaner tool to insure complete removal.   You can find more information on the use of the CC Cleaner tool at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Once you have used the CC Cleaner Tool please reinstall CS3.  If you need a fresh copy of the installation files then you can download them from http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html.  Is this the same location you were attempting to download from previously?

  • Waiting for Dreamweaver CS4, OR migrating to another developer?

    Hi:
Not long time ago when DWMX came out I got very excited. At
last something real came out. I tried Codecharge, some coffeecup
tools and many many other programs that claimed that they could
help us develop websites with less coding and more thinking. But it
was only DW and just DW which could make things right. Golive was
there, trying to compete with DW but it was a joke comparing to DW.
Golive was just a design tool but DW was a real developer tool.
Many great books about DWMX came out and showed us new ways of
making best websites ever. DWMX2004 came out with good improvements
and then DW8 with some good fixes. But most of the major options
where the same as MX. I got worried when Adobe's acquisition came
out and after seeing what happened to DW in version CS3 I really
panicked. It is going to become a newer version of Golive!!!
I'm not the only one who is worried. look at this open letter
    at
    http://stringfoo.com/2007/05/08/an-open-letter-to-adobe/
and you will see even PHP developers (I am a CF developer) loved DW
but the new version is so disappointing that we all believe it
might be the end of DW for developers.
    I ask Adobe people:
Should I migrate to another tool? Should we all forget about
next version of DW (I assume it will be CS4) and go for some tools
that do things 50% less effective than DW and 200% more messy?
Is there any hope that CS4 becomes a new hope for us who love
    "less coding and more ideas?"
Or we are just waiting for a newer version of DW as an
    upgrade for Golive?
Please help us decide and not to wait if there is no hope and
    no help for us developers.
    Thanks

That open letter is full of excellent suggestions. Although I
    don't
agree that Dreamweaver is just becoming a newer version of
    GoLive, I,
too, would have liked to see more done on the server side in
    this
version. The way to influence the direction of CS4 is to
    submit feature
    requests through the Adobe website:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Now that CS3 is out of the door, the development team will be
    drawing up
its initial plans for the next release. Now is the time to
    tell the team
what you would like to see in CS4.

  • CS3 Design Premium won't install - Asking for CS4 disk 1

I own both CS3 Design Premium and CS4 Production Premium on my iMac with Snow Leopard. Mac OS X 10.5.8
I have all CS4 programs installed.  I only have Dreamweaver installed on CS3.
I need to use InDesign and tried to install from CS3 Design Premium disk.  After disk one runs for a short time, the program asks me to insert disk 1 from CS4 Production Premium.  After reading that disk, it asks to put CS3 disk 1 in.  These messages continue and I can't get anywhere.
Anything I can do?  Uninstall both programs and reinstall?
    Thanks

Inserting the disks over a dozen times a piece finished the installation.

  • Tryout of *current* version while waiting for CS3?

I'm an InDesign and Illustrator user who may be
picking up Dreamweaver (either individually or as part of one of
the new suites) when CS3 comes out. I'd like to try learning it at
home before I have to use it at work. I notice there's no Tryout
version, and that the Dreamweaver web site says that a Tryout
version will be available 6-8 weeks after CS3 is released.
Is there any way to get a hold of the
current version as a Tryout? That way I could learn how to
use it while waiting for the new version to arrive.
    Thanks.

No. But I'll whip one up for you....
Always use document relative links unless you have a good
    reason not to.
    GOOD REASONS
    1. Document relative links don't work
    2. You are using include files that link to pages at a
    variety of folder
    locations in the site

  • Buy CS4 or wait for CS5

I'm relatively new to Photoshop, and I'm planning of buying it for my home PC in the next few months, but I was wondering if it would be better to wait for CS5 since I read it was coming "Mid 2010". Thanks in advance!

You beat me to the punch! I was going to add your "leaked" info.
Still, Adobe has historically given a "grace period" to buyers of previous versions, usually within 30 days of release. Who knows here? Should be the same, or very similar.
Now, will PS (and the other common suite programs) be on pre-sale upon release, or later? Will the release be THAT much later? When will the "grace period" kick in?
Even with an unveiling date, there will still be questions.
    Hunt
PS - some folk, with very recent Flash versions have ended up with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) CS5! Do not know what that is about, but I find it interesting.

  • "Waiting for server-" errors in Contribute CS4

Haven't updated my website in a while, so this is new for me, but starting yesterday I've gotten nothing but "Waiting for server..." errors every time I try to edit or publish a page. It takes about 10 attempts before the page finally downloads for edit or publishes. So a 2 minute task now takes about half an hour and it's driving me crazy. I'm using Mac OS X Lion (10.7.5).
Has anyone else seen this behavior or know of a work-around?
    thanks!

Yes, I am editing the files directly on the server. Until recently, I've been working this way for years.
Dangerous.  You must be exceptionally confident.
    Are you working in CF?
At any rate, I'm not experienced with using this configuration, nor do I know anyone that works this way.  Maybe someone else will pop in to help....

  • Waiting For Server CS4 Virgin Media 1and1

    Hi
Over the last few month I have been getting "Waiting For Server" error messages from Dreamweaver while working on my websites hosted on a  dedicated server with 1and1. My ISP is Virgin Media, whith whom Ihave a 50MB connection using a Virgin Media super hub.
This problemn didn't exist just over a month ago.
I have asked boith 1and1 and Virgin Media for help. Both deny there is a problem with the connection at either end and have suggested it is a Dreamweaver problem.
I have completely uninstalled Dreamweaver on both my Laptop and Desktop PC's.
I have tried the passive FTP and server compatibility settings within Dreamweaver, with no difference.
I have also tried using a couple of external DNS services, with no difference.
While I'm working, I can mayb eedit and save 5 files, then on mayb eth e6th I'll get the waiting for server message, which will then connect and save the file after about 30 seconds.
Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions that I haven't tried yet?
    Many thanks
    Mr M

  • I NEED CS3 design premium for windows

Dear Adobe - do you have a way to buy previous software versions??
My main client uses CS3 Design Premium so that's what I need (no, I don't want to get CS4 and save everything down).  Now that CS4 is out I can't find any way to get CS3 from Adobe.  I'd like to download it rather than wait for a boxed edition to be shipped, but the only way I can find to do this is by using one of those shady "buy cheap software" sites.

    >>>>Please understand that this is a User to User forum and not an official channel to communciate with Adobe. Typically you would call Adobe Customer Support to get answers to the type of question you pose.
I KNOW that.  It was a lame attempt to be funny.  Clearly didn't work.
    >>>>>Those shady "buy cheap software" sites refer to are typically hawking hacked and/or pirated software and if you buy that stuff, no are no less guilty than those you buy it from.
I DON'T WANT to buy it from a hacker site... but basically what you're saying is that I have no other legitimate option to buy it from Adobe.

  • How to remove CS3 after upgrade to CS4

What is the best way to remove all my CS3 suite after I upgraded to CS4 Suite? Thanks.

As I no longer require CS3 on my Mac after upgrading to CS4 and waiting for the required plugins to be available I have successfully uninstalled CS3 using the Adobe CS3 Creative Suite uninstaller.
NOTE: please make a copy of the 'Adobe Unit Types.osax' found Macintosh HD/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax
At home did this without making a backup of the 'Adobe Unit Types.osax', so when I launched Photoshop CS4 it suffered from the "Error: "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder.."
At work I did this with making a copy of 'Adobe Unit Types.osax', place it back after the uninstall of CS3... and presto so far so good.
for the 'Error: "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder... are missing' when you start Photoshop CS4 (Mac OS)" read here:

sorry if this has already been posted, I could not see this anywhere.

  • Documenation for CS4

    Hi all,
After a very long absence from this group, I would like to hear advice about purchasing documentation for InDesign CS4. (Windows shop--Windows XP)
After a multiple-year wait, our team finally got upgraded from CS2 to CS4. Over a year ago, anticipating we would get CS3, I bought David Blatner's "Real World InDesign CS3." I think very highly of Blatner.
Can you tell me if there are enough differences between InDesign CS3 and CS4 to warrant my buying (my company does not buy support for us) Blatner's same book for InDesign CS4?
Also, do any of you prefer another documentation source?
    Thanks very much.
    Lizbeth

I think the Real World InDesign book is a fantastic resource, although Sandee Cohen's Visual QuickStart Guide is probably better for beginners, as Peter suggested. However, if you don't want to buy any new books for CS4, you'll probably be fine using a combination of your Real World CS3 book, the Help system, and Google.com.
There are several new features in CS4, and some features -- such as Preflight and Hyperlinks -- have changed quite a bit, so you'll want to become familiar with those changes to avoid getting "bad" advice from your CS3 book. You can check out the "What's new" help topic to get an overview:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/6.0/WSFE4C4DDD-967A-4cf0-845F-AB2B86FCC809a.html
By the way, I'm the guy who writes the Help topics for InDesign. The web version of Help includes links to videos, user comments, and links to related blog entries, book excerpts, and forum threads. And, when you search in web Help, you can include some of the best community sites in your search results -- essentially a customized Google.com search.

  • Should I have an installer for CS4? Getting a little upset.

I've been on the phone waiting for customer service for well over 30 minutes, I've been trying to install CS4 on my macbook (2.16 2 g ram) and it's giving me more problems than I ever could have imagined. I'm more or less just supremely irritated now.
When I instert my disk to install nothing happens, I click on the icon for adobe and it gives me all the options to mount the disk images for any of these but an installer is nowhere to be found. I've done the CS3 and CS4 wipe to be sure and I still am having no luck. Any thoughts.

yeah I'm in thet one and have 2 choices, payloads and extensions.
extensions lists the following: (which I assume are languge prefs.)
    AdobePhotoshop11-fr_CA
    AdobeFlash10-en_GBLanguagePack
    AdobeFlash10-en_USLanguagePack
    AdobeFlash10-es_MXLanguagePack

    AdobeInDesign6CommonLang-en_GB

    AdobeInDesign6CommonLang-fr_CA
    AdobePhotoshop11-en_GB
    AdobePhotoshop11-en_US
    AdobePhotoshop11-es_MX
    and payload lists these:
    AdobeFlash10-mul
    AdobePhotoshop11-Core
    AdobeInDesign6AppBase-mul
looked through them all and some have DMG files but indesign gave me the shutdown.

  • CS5 Premium Bundle 50% off or should I wait for CS6?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium going for $849... half off the asking price?
Is it worth it to purchase or should i wait for CS6?

Whether or not to buy RIGHT NOW depends on a couple of things:
    1. Do you NEED the software now, or can you wait about 2 1/2 months for CS6 to ship?
    2. Are you upgrading from a very old version or starting out fresh with Adobe Creative Suite?
Another thing to consider is whether or not you're interested in the Adobe Creative Cloud, which is a current service offering but will be coming into full effect with CS6. It will be a subscription service but it looks like it will be an incredible value for the user who typically upgrades with each version and uses the software on a near-daily basis.
If you need/want a box software and don't plan to upgrade again for a long time, then perhaps buying CS5.5 right now while it's 1/2 off is a good deal for you. You might also want to wait until March 1st, because Adobe has a 30 day return policy and you may want/need to consider that as an option if a bunch of new buzz builds about CS6. Also, sometimes early March has been a cutoff date for free upgrades to the next version when it's released in April (again, this is based on past scenarios...no one will be able to guarantee anything about these considerations).
I typically upgrade for each full version, which has run me about $500-$700 on average each time (from CS2 to CS3, then CS4 and now CS5). I did not upgrade to CS5.5 because I didn't really need to, so my cost for CS5 has been about $25 per month for the past 2 years (but without an upgrade to CS5.5). The Creative Cloud, which is slated to start at $49 (whatever that means), looks to include a LOT more stuff and be a reasonable option for my type of usage, so I'm waiting to see how that turns out.
