CS6 InDesign Server and OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) Compatibility?

Hello All,
Is anyone running CS6 InDesign Server on OS X 10.8 (Mountian Lion) without any issues? Adobe's system requirements only supports OS X 10.6.8, 10.7, and 10.7 Server.
Thank you!

I have been running the deomo on 10.8 without any problems.

  • Document Units between InDesign Server and InDesign Client

    I am working between a Client application using InDesign CC and a Server application using InDesign Server CC.  The problem is that the Clients have their default document width/height settings set to Picas whereas the Server's settings seem to be in Inches.  This is causing problems when Server application is trying to generate a PDF in the units specified by the client.  I need help in figuring out how to get InDesign Server to use Picas instead of Inches.
    Here is a sample of the code used to look at the page width/height values.  I have a module-level boolean called 'mInDesignServer' set to True to test with InDesign Server and False to test with InDesign:
                     If mInDesignServer Then
                        doc = DirectCast(Application.Documents, Global.InDesignServer.Documents).Add
                    Else
                        doc = Application.Documents.Add
                    End If
                    doc.ViewPreferences.RulerOrigin = Global.InDesign.idRulerOrigin.idPageOrigin ' Global.InDesign.idRulerOrigin.idSpreadOrigin
                    doc.ViewPreferences.HorizontalMeasurementUnits = Global.InDesign.idMeasurementUnits.idPicas
                    doc.ViewPreferences.VerticalMeasurementUnits = Global.InDesign.idMeasurementUnits.idPicas
                    doc.ZeroPoint = myZeroPoint
                    ' Look at the document preferences
                    Debug.WriteLine(IIf(mInDesignServer, "Server", "Client") & " " & _
                        "Page Height: " & doc.DocumentPreferences.PageHeight & " " & _
                        "Page Width: " & doc.DocumentPreferences.PageWidth & " " & _
                        "Page Size: " & doc.DocumentPreferences.PageSize)
    Here is the output from the Debug.WriteLine statement when run under both conditions:
         Server Page Height: 11 Page Width: 8.5 Page Size: Letter
         Client Page Height: 66 Page Width: 51 Page Size: Letter
    As stated above, how can I get InDesign Server CC to change its default units to Picas to match that of the Client?
    Thanks,
    Jody

    This worked for me...
    oDocument.ViewPreferences.HorizontalMeasurementUnits = idMeasurementUnits.idMillimeters
    oDocument.ViewPreferences.VerticalMeasurementUnits = idMeasurementUnits.idMillimeters

  • Osx 10.8 mountain lion compatibility and crashing issues

    I upgraded my old mac laptop a special edition 1278 that is aluminum unibody, yes they do exist. It has 2Ghz intel core2duo 8gb ram a 7200rpm hyrid 500gb hard drive on a 13" frame with the now standard one big button touchpad.  I had gone from snow to lion to now mountain lion.
    Well, FIRST WARNING, I ASSUMED Adobe Creative Cloud should work with mountain lion since it was working with lion, WRONG!
    upon upgrading completeing, and trying to launch Adobe Creative Cloud CS6 Dreamweaver,I was informed by Adobe application control that "your computer is not authorized to use adobe creative cloud....can not activate software....you have already reached the maximum activations of two".
    Well one of the activations was this laptop running lion and now since I didn't know to deactivate the software before upgrading I can't deactivate it and then reactivate it under mountain lion.
    The ONLY adobe solution?....get ready for this....Deactivate my subscription killing all computers ability to use the adobe software, ALL PRODUCTS for....get ready for this....24 hours. Then I can reactivate the two computers i want to use the software on.
    Unacceptable solution. especially since further checking on many sites DO NOT LIST CS6 Products to be compatible with mountain lion.
    Secondly, since upgrading to mountain lion and it upgrading xcode and xcode related files....it crashes when trying to run programs/apps during development.
    It doesn't matter how complex or simple they are...they can be lank apple supplied templates. If i click Products->Run a few seconds later xcode crash!
    If you have a fix for either of these issues please drop me a line with useful suggestions I appreciate it.
    and no. let's be clear on this-although it feels this way, my head is not up my....thank you for that comment or suggestion up front
    I am looking for a serious solution.

    i'm running os x 10.7.4 and have been unable to get the cisco usb printer software installed on my powerbook. did you have any issues with that or can you direct me to the software you installed on yours?
    I'm on a 2008 Macbook Pro. The initial installation went smoothly for me. I'm not sure where to download the VUSB software online, I believe it downloaded the file when I was using the Connect Cloud setup interface. I clicked on devices, then add device, then usb printer. It should walk you through the steps and download VUSB during that process.

  • Bash Update 1.0 for macs OS X Lion v10.7.5, OS X Lion Server v10.7.5, OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5, OS X Mavericks v10.9.5

    Do I upload the following update of 9/29/14 for OS X Lion v10.7.5, OS X Lion Server v10.7.5, OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5, OS X Mavericks v10.9.5 as I ALREADY AM USING 10.9.5 which indicates Sept 18 update - should I seek it out and load it? It DID NOT come to me as a new update - I was just reading about updates an duplaods in MAC RUMOR, APPLE INSIDER THAN CLICKE DON THE Apple KB. Yes or no? THANKS

    Most Mac users are not at risk.  I suspect that the next scheduled security update will include this bug fix.  I suspect it was released as a downloadable patch for Mac users that do things that would put them at risk and for Mac users that are worried (perhaps needlessly).
    To be at risk, you need to run a web server AND that web server must be using CGI scripts that either directly use bash scripts or use a web server that invokes a CGI script via a bash command line hand-off.  Very few consumer Mac owners do this, and Mavericks does not include the ability to easily start a web server.
    Or you need to configure your Mac to allow anonymous ssh (Secure Shell) logins.  This would be someone that is perhaps running a public GIT Hub source code control system.  Very few Mac owners ever do anything like this.
    You have enabled the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) web Interface via a Terminal Session command line command (you would know if you did this).
    If you do not do any of these things, it is very unlikely you will be at risk for the ShellShock bash bug.
    NOTE:  This bug is very serious business for commercial web servers running on Unix platforms, so I'm trying to downplay the seriousness, just that you have to be a member of a select class of Mac users to be at risk with your Mac OS X system.

    My iMac goes to disc utilities on startup, repair disk doesn't cure it and I can't reinstall Mountain Lion because I don't remember my ID and password at the time I bought the software the system isn't accepting my current details and Apple isn't recognising the answers to my security questions.  They don't even seem to have my correc date of birth so I can't progress the reinstallation.  I'm currently abroad and have my iMac with me but with no way of contacting Apple that I can find, I'm at a loss and very reluctant to pay £35 to try and get my ID and pasword sorted out given that their system recognises my current details.  can anyone help please?

    when they gifted me the mountain Lion software several years ago.
    Mountain Lion was introduced in July 2012. Did the people who gifted you possibly use their Apple ID for the purchase of your OS? If you used your own Apple ID, you should have simply used the one you use for all things app store. The problem with any purchase at the app store is: whatever Apple ID was used to purchase, it willl stay tied to that Apple ID forever. And, purchases from the app store are not transferable.
    So, you can check with the person(s) who gifted you or spend $20 to buy it - or, if your hardware is compatible with the new OS Mavericks, you could download it and associate it with your Apple ID.
    FWIW, according to the licensing agreement, the OS remains the property of Apple and you are only granted a license to run it.

  • Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase harddisk and install Leopard Snow Leopard Mountain Lion. Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion

    Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase the harddisk and install Leopard > Snow Leopard > Mountain Lion.
    Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion?

    I tried and failed for several hours to install Mountain Lion, and was repeatedly getting the "Recovery System" cannot be created error.  I tried all the tricks: resizing the drive partition, booting from an external boot drive, all to no avail.  After reading other users struggling with the same issue, I had determined it to be a boot camp drive error.  However, I didn't want to have to erase and begin anew when I came upon a possible solution.  I had long ago renamed my boot camp drive with a "." (".windows" for me) in order to avoid having the partition show up on my desktop.  So, I boot into windows and renamed the c: drive without the "." ("windows"), and reboot into os x.  The install then went off without a hitch.  I hope this will be helpful for others struggling with this issue that may have renamed their boot camp drives in a similar manner.

    Hi Fred,
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

    The Utility transferred all of the AE's settings, so I still have to change the password, which leaves me with only 2 other questions, I think:
    1)  I assume it's just a matter of using the Utility, entering a stronger password and checking for it to be remembered in Keychain Access.  But do I have to  change the password for each individual unit-- the TC, the Extreme and both Expresses-- or will changing it just for the TC alone work for the entire network?
    Resetting the password you will need to do for each device... the utility cannot even see those old units.
    So you will have to do it for each one.. think it through.. because as you change passwords the others will lose connection.. so start from the express which are wireless extending .. change those first.. and go back up the chain.. as each one changes it will drop off the network.. until you reach extreme and change that. Then you might need to reboot the whole network to get everything talking again. If something goes wrong.. just pluck that one out of the mix and plug in ethernet.. reset and redo the setup. That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.
    2)  Who's the treasonous SOB who spilled the beans to you about the ICBM in my back yard?!?
    N.Korean hackers.
    [Edit] Whoops-- one more question:  I want to partition the TC's disk, but Disk Utility doesn't see it.  What do I need to do?
    You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).
    Look at Q3 here.

    Mixing TM and data on the TC is worth planning carefully. They don't necessarily sit happily together.

    This is not difficult and you will not have to download from the app store.
    your computer has what is called  a recovery partition that came with it.
    simply hold cmd+R while you boot up. let go a second after you hear the chime.
    you will boot into the recovery partition.
    Use disk utlity to format your usb drive and then exit Disk utlity and go to Reinstall Mountain Lion.
    it will ask  you which disk you want to install ML onto. Choose your new USB drive.
    easy peasy
