CSD Browser Helpers Question

Hi,
I am currently working with secure desktop to create a secure environment for external people to login to our network. This requires access to a citrix environment though. The problem with this is that the user is not allowed to use any programs of their own pc but they should be allowed to run programs in the citrix environment.
Now in the cisco documentation it says this :
Restrict application usage to the web browser only—Check to let only the originating browser and
any browser helpers you specify run on Secure Desktop. Choosing this option limits the user's ability
to use other applications.
Does this mean that you cannot do anything except run things such as : word/excel/visio/java/flash/ programs you can natively run in IE, or does this mean that this actually allows you to use external programs as well?
I have tested this to allow wordpad via the following commands :
C:\program files\windows NT\wordpad.exe
c:\program files\windows NT
wordpad.exe
This did not allow me to run wordpad in citrix in the CSD environment. I did though, also add the windowsmediaplayer plugin and this did work.
Now my question is : are browser helpers the plugins of your browser or are they actualy programs?

File Browse Item questions..

Hi all..
Please help me with these questions on ""file_browse"" item.
I have a file browse item on a page, like in the following app.

1) when the user select a file with the browse button,we will get the
"""file path""" in the text field.
Is it possible to validate (via javascript or any other way), whether that particular
""file path"" is correct and a valid file exist as per the ""file path""??The reason for this validation is, sometime our users will copy the ""file path"" instead of using the
file browse button.

If users enter a valid path, but on that particular page if i have any validations,
If any of the validations fails, it is clearing of the ""file path"" that the user entered.

even it is in session state.. for a common user,he feels that it got cleared out and need to ""reselet "" the file again..It's a good practice to clean up any submitted files in APEX_APPLICATION_FILES should any related validations fail.
Is there any other alternative for this issue? or It is (file browse item) just how it behaves?To ensure a secure and safe web environment it's how it's got to behave.
Good UI design can be used to minimize the impact on users by isolating file browse items on different pages to items that are prone to validation failure, through the use of multi-page wizards etc.

Jbutton to open a htm file in browser - simple question

not sure where to look for this, but its a simple question
I just want to get a jbutton (from a jFrame)to open a local htm page eg:
When pressing the button open:
C:\Documents and Settings\****\My Documents\profile.htm
- Open this with any browser
any pointers to look in the right direction, couldn't find it with search
I dont want to use a JEditorPane to display the htm, just open any browser

I also wont be able to use it to open an local file which will be set up differently on each computer:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\***\\My Documents\\JavaProjX\\Preview\\profile.htmI want to use just: Preview\\profile.htm so it opens from the same location with different users, but

Where to Browse Current Questions Most Easily?

I used to come to discussions frequently and go to the Mac OS sections, the iMac sections and the iPhone sections and look around to see if there were any questions I could help with. Lately, and I mean for the last many, many months since the discussions have been reformatted, I have pretty much been sitting on the sidelines. I just cannot find a "place" to browse the current questions easily in a subject area of my choosing. I'm sure I'm missing out on something very basic but can someone give me a few tips on how to get back into answering a few questions every now and then? It just seems like there is no central place to go. I miss participating. I just need a bit of direction I guess. Thanks.

Browser window question

Hello.
When using iTunes I like having the browser window open at all times -- the one at the top with the three columns for genre, artist, and album.
This works fine for my computer-based iTunes library, but EVERY time I try to look at the sons on my iPod it defaults back to just a list. This happens even just exiting the iTunes application and restarting -- I don't have to disconnect and reconnect the iPod for it to happen.
So my question is how can I make the iPod song list view work like my computer song list, where the browser window is always there?

That's too bad because it used to work the way I'm wanting.
And I can activate the browser window when looking at the iPod -- it just won't STAY that way between successive launches of the iTunes application.

Open Browser behavior question

Hi, does anyone know if its possible to control the placement
of the window that pops up using the open browser behavior. I'm
doing a catalogue, and I would like that when you press a thumbnail
the popup window pops up to a specified size to the left of the
thumbnail. Any suggestions? Thanks

The DW open browser doesn't have the option to positions
popups. You can use
our open browser window which does, and has more features as
well. It's

Opera Mobile/Mini is the best mobile Browser-no question.It runs on Galaxy Y Why can't firefox do this instead of complaining of the phone's RAM?

Firefox for desktop is the best-I agree and I love it above any another browser. but to keep this rep in place Mozilla will have to make it's mobile browsers compatible with every gadget with an average performance like Opera has done.

The Galaxy Y was the cheapest of the Galaxy line up when it came out as it is basically a budget smartphone and has a older ARMv6 (as ARMv7 is required) and only 290MB of Ram when 512+ is recommended.
Mozilla is looking to try and do experimental ARMv6 builds again like the experimental example linked above however the ARMv6 builds can be slower, larger and unstable due to ARMv6 not supporting what ARMv7 can.

Browser column question

I know that there is an "In" and "Out" column for each clip, but is there another way to have FCP automatically tell you if a clip is used in the timeline (like DVDSP does)? I have dozens of jpegs that I need to use and I want to be able to make sure I am using them all and not twice. Couldn't find anything in the manual.

No, there's way to do exactly what you want.
You can do a search for clips used in the Selected Sequences via a Find command, but that falls short of what you'd need (no way to track dupes, for example) and search results don't match back to the Browser.
Because of the way that FCP is built, I don't believe this is possible - as a hypthetical Used function would have multiple values (just think about how it would bloat every time you copy a sequence) and probably wouldn't have much benefit.

IE Browser Settings questions

We came across some internal documentation that recommends setting the IE browser to check for a new page at every visit.
Is there an Oracle preferred setting for the browser when accessing PLM4P or is it ok to have set to check each time?

Open Browser Window questions

Okay, I'm deferring to my DW book on how to open a new
browser window to a set size. It works fine, I understand the code
and all things function as they should.
BUT...
There is no longer that cute, little hand that pops up to
tell the viewer, 'HEY, click here'. This is new turf for me and I
know it shouldn't be difficult. Help?

This symptom means that you have mistakenly applied the
behavior directly to
the image, rather than to an anchor wrapping the image. To
fix this, select
the image, and enter "javascript:;" in the Link field of the
Property
inspector. Press Tab to set the link. Then apply the behavior
to that
anchor tag.

Tabbed Browsing - Two Questions

Greetings,
Using RX7, I would like to create a Web Help project. The
launch page would show the name of the help file and tabs accross
the top (similar to the Copperfield Publshing site) for navigation
purposes.
Is this possible to develop with RH7? If so, where can I get
information regarding the required coding to implement this
feature?

I can still update all app in the App Store app via the Updates tab - I can't remember exactly what it looks like (and I don't currently have any updates so I can't check), but I think that there is an 'update all' button at the top of the screen on the Updates tab .
In terms of Safari, on iOS 5 it now uses tabbed browsing, the thumbnail/page browsing no longer exists. You can open new tabs via the '+' to the right of the tab bar, and you can close the current tab via the 'x' on the left of the tab (unless you only have one tab open). I think that the iCab Mobile (?) browser might support thumbnail/page browsing. If you want thumbnails back in Safari (or the choice of them) then you can try leaving feedback and maybe in a future release it'll happen : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Can you suggest a way to center the site in the browser
window at all times. I am using GO LIVE,6.o but might also learn

Browser Keystores question

Hi all,
Does any one know how to configure Java Plugin 6 to use the Firefox kesystore either in Windows or in Linux environments?
I installed and configured 'JSS' based on the information available at http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/keystores.html
but still the plugin is not using the keys from Firefox keystore.
I follow the steps as follow from the URL:
Linux / Solaris
1. Create jss directory under Mozilla's installed directory.
2. Copy JSS JAR file into the jss directory.
3. Copy JSS native library .so into Mozilla's installed directory.
4. Set environment variable MOZILLA_HOME to Mozilla's installed directory in Mozilla's launch script.
5. Change environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include Mozilla's installed directory in Mozilla's launch script.
How can I tell if my Mozilla load the JSS library? I run the command "strace -o /tmp/check -f firefox",
I see in file /tmp/check load up libjss4.so : open("...libjss4.so/tls/i686/...libX11.so.5 ...)
I download libjss4.so from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/security/jss/releases/JSS_4_2_5_RTM/Linux2.6_x86_glibc_PTH_OPT.OBJ/lib/libjss4.so

Browsing History Question:

I regularly clear out the cache in Safari, yet today I used a search facility at a website which, as soon as I typed in the first letter of my enquiry, listed a whole log of stuff I thought had been deleted dozens of times over.
Can anyone explain how my computer can be 'interrogated in' this way and how I can prevent it, please?

This data is not held in the cache, it is in a file found at <username>/Library/Safari called "Form Values".
Go to Safari preferences and deselect Other forms in the Autofill pane if you don't want Safari to remeber these things.
You can individualy delete remembered data on a per site basis using the buttons in the same pane.

Browser compatability questions

Can someone please look at my site and tell me what I am
doing wrong.
In IE it looks correct. I have the main content in a master
div container..it has a background image that is black hrz stripes.
On the body I am using css to add a gray background of similar
texture.
When I look at the site on Safari or Fire Fox... the body
background is the entire page, main content container and all.
In addition, it is ignoring the auto width css that centers
the site on the background.
I am a new designer. I appreciate anyone's help. Thank you in

Your page code is a bit off. For example, you have this link
within the
body -

but links to external stylesheets that occur between
<body> and </body> are
ignored, so none of the rules that are contained within that
stylesheet
would be expressed on the page.
Then you have this in your main CSS stylesheet -

margin:0px;
background-image:url(../images/backgrnd/grey-hrz-100x100.png);
But the stylesheet and the page are both already at the root
of the site, so
it's not possible to follow that link to the image by going
up one directory
level.
Also, you have several instances like this in your main CSS -
margin:5px, 8px, 0px, 0px;
There are no commas allowed between these values.
But as to why the center alignment is not working, I'm
baffled. It should
be, but clearly it's not! Hmmm...
