Cannot move any files into trash to delete them. I get a Trash warning box saying "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'file name' could not be read or written.(Error code - 36)".Macbook has so much data it is almost not working.
I have tried reseting to factory settings by removing battery and holding down the power switch for more than 5 sec but this does nothing.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I think with so much unwanted data on the desktop and other places the whole os will crash very soon.
Thanks, RickThe hard drive may be dying anyway, or the directory damaged because it is so full. You should never let the hard drive get over 85% full.
A -36 error is a read/write error.
All you did with the power is reset the SMC. Does nothing to reset everything to factory settings.
Do you have your original 10.4 installer discs for the MacBook?
Is your data backed up? -
Hello.
I just got a Lacie 512mb disk, and thought it would be ideal for running my iTunes library off of. Got the disk, ran it through its paces, hooked it up to my Mac mini, and I can't seem to copy hardly any files over. Here's one error (but you can replace "iTunes Library" with any song and it's the same thing)...
'The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "iTunes Library" could not be read or written. (Error code -36).'
So, I think there's disk or file damage, etc. I boot off an external and run Disk Utility, DiskWarrior and TechToolPro against it - everything checks out fine.
But I can't copy files from the mini's internal to my external Repair Boot disk or the Lacie 512. Always that same -36.
So, at first I think it's the mini, then I think it's the Lacie, because it's new, so I reformat it: same issue. And that coupled with it won't copy to my Repair Boot, makes me think the mini again.
But, I've got a g1 iPod mini hooked up (formatted in hfsj+), and I can copy this file to the iPod mini, but no where else. I not sure what this makes me think.
And, I can duplicate the file on the Mac mini. In fact, if it's a song file that won't copy (none of them will), I can play it just fine.
Thanks.
Mac mini Mac OS X (10.4.3)I experienced a problem in a familiar way.
After a recording session I tried to copy the complete folder with session and sound files to another disk (original and target disk both LaCie d2 250 FW800).
Somehow the proces stopped prompting an -36 error over some files.
When I look up these files in the Finder, it seems to have an iTunes audio-file icon instead of a ProTools audio-file icon (and so other standard app to open with). All the other files will copy fine. The files will play with quicktime in the preview window.
Any-one a solution?
Almost seems like some kind of copy protection, like implied earlier in this thread. I hope it's not. These are the originals... -
Could not retrieve server initialization data
This is in regard to recent issue reported under MS Project 2010 Proffesional edition. We were trying to connect MS Project 2010 Proffesional Client edition to MS Project 2010 server so that we can upload the project to resource center directly.
Right information is added under info-> Accounts and post to that MS Project client reports the following error "Could not retrieve server initialization data". Please let me know how to get rid of this.
Quick help is required!!
Thanks
Yash Bindlish- Confirm you created your Project Server account within the Project Client? This is done from the backstage by clicking File > Info tab. If you haven't completed
this step, you cannot connect to Project Server.
- Confirm when you open Project Professional 2010, did you register the account?
To register the account
FILE >>> INFO
>>> "Manage Accounts"
Also, make sure all the accounts do not have a default account.
This is to make sure the default "Computer" account is not being used.
Also you can try with
“Disable the loopback check”

Server could not find any Meta-Data devices!
Our MDC dropped out and the backups did not engage.
On a reboot of the MDC we were able to mount the volume, but all files (QuickTme movies, FCP projct files) could not be opened with an "unknown file type error".
We shut all the clients down we checked the volume and (cvfsck -nv) and while "dirty" it did not report any errors.
Stopped the volume and ran a cvfsck -w which gave us:
"Server could not find any Meta-Data devices!"
Checking Xsan admin logs shows us:
"PioOpen: no such device.
Fatal: Cannot open stripe group "md" - Operation not supported by device
Fatal: Physio_init failed."
Where "md" is our metadata storage pool.
We shutdown all switches, RAIDS, clients, etc, but bring them all back up and checking with one MDC or another is the same result. Volume will not mount.
All fiber connections seem good, checked in RAID admin and on switch.
Ideas?AppleCare suggested that maybe a metadata backup could have helped.

Could not find version number data in TF_BUILD_BUILDNUMBER
Hi,
I'm using the default build process template TfvcTemplate.12.xaml that came with TFS2013. I'm trying to call ApplyVersionToAssemblies.ps1 (from the Community TFS Build Extensions) in the pre-build script to version
assemblies. In lieu, I got this error below.
ApplyVersionToAssemblies.ps1 : Could not find version number data in TF_BUILD_BUILDNUMBER.
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Write-Error], WriteErrorExcep
tion
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.WriteErrorExceptio
n,ApplyVersionToAssemblies.ps1
I've read that
TF_BUILD environment variables are automatically created, but I do not see them in the build machine. Do I need to manually create those variables?
TDNThank you so much EvgeniyBaryShev VI! I was able to see the available TF_BUILD environment variables. The PowerShell script was looking for a 0.0.0.0 pattern in the build number stores in TF_BUILD_BUILDNUMBER. Once I changed the build number format,
I was able to version my assemblies. Thanks again for the pointer!
TDN
Hi,
I am getting the same error of TF_BUILD_BUILDNUMBER.
Can you please help me out regarding the changes carried out by you in details.
Thank you. -

Adobe photoshop extended CS6 not complete command could not find Javascript Plugin
When I open Photoshop Extended I get the error could not complete command could not find javascript, I have update the Java program, Reloaded the photoshop program, I still get the error message.
Java and Javascript are not really related to one another at all (except that they have 4 letters in common :-)
When Photoshop starts on Windows it looks for and tries to run this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS6\Adobe Photoshop\photoshop.jsx
Which is the "startup script". It's possible you've deleted yours or it has become corrupt. Reinstall is your best bet.
It's also possible that your Photoshop instance was configured to run something on application start using File -> Scripts -> Event Manager and Photoshop Event "Start Application". For example I set my CS5 to use "Welcome" at startup, then renamed welcome and got this message:
Which provides a big clue what is wrong. If you're seeing the above (or something similar) make note of the file listed and select "Yes".
On a 64-bit version, you can look here:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Presets\Scripts but there doesn't seem to be the equivalent.
Not sure where to look on the Mac. -
JCO.Server could not find server function 'CONTROL_RECIPE_AVAILABLE'
Hi Experts,
I've been trying to read some of the topics in the forums to find answers about the error JCO.Server could not find server function but still haven't resolve the issue.
Basically, the scenario is from SAP r/3 to PI 7.1 ehp1 (process integration) system.
All of the aforementioned steps we're done.
R/3 (SAP) end
1.) Create RFC destination (T)
2. ) Indicate the program ID
3.) Indicate the server/hostname
4.) Indicate the sap gateway
Test connection was made and it was successful.
SAP PI end.
Integration Directory (Let me skip from the basics and state directly the setup of my senderRFC)
1.) RFC Comm Channel (set as Sender)
2.) Indicated the server hostname (sending system), sap gateway and Program ID (basically what was indicated in RFC setup in SAP end)
3.) RFC Metadata Repository Parameters (In here I used the details of PI environment)..Created user with SAP_ALL profile..I used system without Load Balancing (Parameter, AppServer, SysNo, Logon User, Logon Password, Language and Client)
I was able to test a message from SAP end but still "JCO.Server could not find server function" was the result upon checking sm58.
Did I miss something from my setup and config?Hi Michal,
I guess there's a big difference with RFC Server Parameters and with RFC Metadata Repository Parameters.
Note: Im using PI 7.1 ehp1
For RFC Server Parameters it includes:
- Application Server (gateway)*
- Application Server Service (gateway)*
- Program ID*
For RFC Metadata Repository Parameters it includes:
- Load Balancing or no Load Balancing (choices)..in here my choice is no Load Balancing
- Application Server*
- System No*
- Logon Language*
- Logon Client*
- Authentication Mode (Use Log-on Data for SAP System or Secure Network Connection for RFC)
if Use Log-on Data for SAP System it includes:
- Logon User*
- Logon Password*
If Secure Network Connection for RFC it includes:
- Quality of Protection
- SNC Partner Name
Looked onto your blogs mentioned several times, but no information on RFC Metadata Repository Parameters. -

Error: could not find source for resource bundle charts
I am trying to upgrade from Flex SDk 3.4 to 3.5.
I have copied the Data Visualisation SWCs under libs, locale and rlsls folders as suggested by adobe.
I get the following error when building the application
flex-library:
[java] Loading configuration file /usr/local/lib/flex_sdk/3.5.0/frameworks/flex-config.xml
[java] Error: could not find source for resource bundle charts.
[java]
What am I missing? Any help is highly appreciated.
ThanksCopying
/Software/FB\ Eclipse\ Plugin/Adobe\ Flex\ Builder\ 3\ Plug-in/sdks/2.0.1/frameworks/locale/en_US/charts_rb.swc into
the 3.5 SDK directory
/usr/local/lib/flex_sdk/3.5.0/frameworks/locale/en_US
solves the problem.
Not sure why as the charts_rb.swc comes from Flex 2.0 -
RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA'
Hi, All
the system is PI 7.0 EHP1 oraclei Win2003 server, I configured SLD but I run RZ70, having error "RFC call failed: JCO.Server could not find server function 'SET_SLD_DATA' ". I know there are lot of tread about this error, but none of themsolve my problem. all JCO, RFC connections and SDL DATA supplier(VA) seem OK. error message in SM21 is "Could not send SLD data"
detail from SM21
The system could not send the data that has been collected automatical
for the System Landscape Directory (SLD). Check whether the gateway
configured in transaction RZ70 has been started and whether the SLD
bridge has been registered with this gateway.
You can use transaction SM59 to check this in the sending system for t
implemented RFC destinations. The RFC destinations have the standard
names "SLD_UC" for Unicode sending systems and "SLD_NUC" for non-Unico
sending systems. If a different RFC destination has been entered in
RZ70, check this destination instead.
You can use the Gateway Monitor to check the target gateways. In ABAP
systems, this monitor is started with transaction SMGW, or you can use
the external SAP program "gwmon". Check whether the specified gateway
has an active registration.
OF COURSE I checked RFC of SLD_UC and SMGW
any different ideas

You may be aware but if you are not --->RZ70 creates the required SLD* RFCs during runtime - therefore if you have defined these RFCs manually first using the same namespace you can get RFC conflicts which result in a failed submission
Please also check the user in the RFC is known to both systems and has required authorization to write to SLD
Generally with SLD you have to install or select a suitable gateway to handle incoming data supply traffic
Also the gateway you are using has be known to SLD and reflected in RZ70 - i.e these defintions have to be the same
It is also recommended to delete all references to SLD_* RFCs in data supplier and target SLD
after a failed submission attempt to allow RZ70 to recreate these consistently once the above has been checked
Best wishes

When my clients try and login. All I see in the logs is
011-11-28 10:05:43: [rv120w][IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for 212.183.140.51[65212]The error that you are getting that shows in the log file by the "pings being blocked" it refers to the connection being block by the firewall or security on your computer.
Things that you should look for is: What type of internet security software you are using will a lot of the time block QVPN from working.
With Windows 7 it has a lot of added security so the windows 7 Firewall has to be on because soon as the firewall is turn off or another firewall is loaded that turns off Win7 firewall, the Win7 OS turns off IPSEC and that is needed for quick VPN to work. Hope this has been helpful and gave you some more understanding. -

= No SB0220 support available? SO, IS THERE exactly a model numbered as SB0220 AT ALL?
I think there is not.
Yes My Sound Card is exaclty SB0220. I have downloaded the patch and start it. After that I configured the installer and now I have creative drivers. But are they the best for my sound card? After all I`ve pathed the installer and some sort lied it. If the drivers are for my model, why should I path it's
Yes, I've seen a true SB0220 too on a picture after writing that comment so there is true SB0220 model. But, are you sure your card is SB0220? Did you look the number from a sticker on card board w/ serial number lik MSB022xxxxxxxxxxx where the SB022x is the true model number for your card.
Why you didn't got drivers installed for your card is, because the installer doesn't support the model SB0220 (supported cards are listed in ctcomp.dat -> this is the file ctcomp.exe patches).
IIrc, those drivers are the latest ones for your card. If you like to, you can try soft-mod your card the way, you can use Audigy series drivers (which are a bit newer) -> http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/audigy-2.php (i.e. you just use ctcomp.exe utility to patch the installer for Audigy drivers (use these drivers st - http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargement/creative/%20audigy%205.2.0.042.exe) (newer installer maybe can't be patched w/ ctcomp).
