Css background files for website not appearing on safari

My website's background shows up on Internet Explorer, but it is white on Safari. bestpianobar.com
Here is the css data:
<STYLE TYPE=text/css>
<!--
body {background: url(newimages/bkgrd.gif); background-attachment: fixed}
Any suggestions?

Hi,
It doesn't work in Firefox either. It looks like your CSS file is declared incorrectly. In the ran.css file you have the <style> tags - those shouldn't be in there, just the CSS selectors should be.
PS. If the site is meant for general public consumption you might want to offer an option to mute the music

  • Uploading files to website not working with Safari in Windows 7

    Safari version: 5.1.7
    OS: Windows 7
    Hi,
    I am a website owner, and I have a feature on my site where users can upload large (up to 50MB) music files to my server. The feature works in Firefox on OSX & Windows platforms and it also works in Safari on OSX. The uploading feature is not working with Safari for Windows. Do you have any idea why and how to fix this? It can't be an issue with my server as it works in other browsers fine and works fine in Safari for OS X.
    If you have any information on how to solve this or things for me to try to rectify this for use with Windows operating system it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    GREAT NEWS!!!!
    I have solved this issue myself with some help from my a user on Microsoft Forums. The issue stems from the mime type of each Browser Chrome, IE, & Safari for Windows defaults as audio/wav. When the mime type is changed to audio/x-wav everything works. Firefox defaults to audio/x-wav and when changed to audio/wav it DOES NOT work.
    Once I input some code in my .php upload page to change the mimetype if audio/wav is detected everything works GREAT!!!
    So Here is what you need to do: Find your upload page and input this code:
    echo "<p>MIME Type: ".$_FILES["file"]["type"]."</p>";
    right before your "If/then" statement of file type. For me it was near line 30 in my upload.php page, but I'm sure this is different for everyone.
    This will detect and DISPLAY the default mime type of your browser on the error page when your upload doesn't work. Once you know what mime type works for your file type then you can change your "if/then" statement for mime type upload to change your mime type to the correct one.
    I don't want to give the code here, because I'm sure it's specific to your file types and your site construction, but this should lead you on the right track.
    ***This is the solution if you ARE NOT ABLE to upload any certain file in a certain Browser. It has to do with mime type construction***
    I hope this helps others like it helped me!!!!!

  • BPM - Background Job for Reorganization = Not Scheduled

    Good afternoon, first of all thank you very much for the support they can provide. I have developed a JDBC interface -> BPM (Multimapping) which works well. Modify a Message Mapping in the BPM that I use for an RFC Lookup, I have added the Configurable Parameters in the BPM and Integration Directory and everything works fine at design time. But when running the interface at run time the message reaches the BPM and the error "error in BPE inbound Permanent processing".
    I have reviewed the Business Process Engine in the RWB and the item is Red Schedule Background Job for Reorganization and detail reads: "Background Job for Reorganization = Not Scheduled".
    As I can solve this problem. Thank you very much.

  • Cannot open file it does not appear to be a valid archive

    While trying to download Oracle 8i/9i i keep getting the message
    'Cannot open file it does not appear to be a valid archive'
    Can someone please help me with this
    i have tried to download this 10 times already but of no use
    Thanks
    Rimpy

    I was getting a similar, if not the same, problem when I used IE 5.5 to download the file. It used to start extracting then stop about 75% of the way through and dump some error about the archive being corrupt and not being able to open it. After installing Netscape and disabling the download manager application, I was able to download and extrac the zip files with winzip 8 and also winrar without any problems.

    Because line-in has been removed.
    It does allow for an Apple headset with mic., but I don't know if it would work with third-party ones.
    You'll need to use a Griffin iMic or similar to use line-in via a USB port.
    The same goes for the 15" retina, the newest MBA and the new iMac (whenever it finally arrives).

    Chances are, you have already tried this and already know the answer.
    But, if not....sorry, but no......since your printer is not AirPrint compatible, you must use the extra software workaround in the Mac.
    A newer AirPrint printer would allow you to do what you want.

  • Text not appearing in Safari, but is in Firefox?

    Hello there,
    I've recently completed a webpage using Adobe GoLive. The thing is, any of the text in the pages will not appear in Safari, but does in Firefox, IE etc. I've changed about the character encoding, but nothing's worked for me.
    Another funny thing is, the if I make any of the text a hyperlink, then it does display in Safari (just the linked bit).
    I'm completely stumped!
    You can see my problem here: http://www.ireland-kilkenny.com
    I created part of the site using iWeb:
    http://www.ireland-kilkenny.com/pastnpresent/Past%20%26%20Present.html
    I'm really stuck for a solution to this!
    Seamus.

    Why is Safari so particular about coding standards, when other browsers will display the page with no problems at all?
    Safari is one of the younger browsers out there and so the developers concentrated on the core established standards - as time goes on they slowly add more of the 'quirks' that other browsers allow website designers to get away with
    WebKit is the core rendering engine of Safari and the developers have a website that shows what they've been working on. They also let you download a version of Safari that has been built with this WebKit to let you test out if various bugs have been fixed:

  • "Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not be saved." not appearing in Safari 7.0.3 prefs

    A December 2,  2013 Apple FAQ says that you can go to Mavericks:Safari:Preferences:Passwords and select "Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not be saved."
    However, this checkbox does not appear.
    The features and management of iCloud Keychain are causing concern among users.
    I share these. For example, today I chose to let Safari produce a complex password for a Chase credit card site. Yet, when I went back to that site to sign in, I could not. Nor was that password in the list on Safari!
    This is not good. For iCloud Keychain to be trusted, it must be very reliable, and we must be allowed to manage it.
    I was forced to reset the password for Chase, and had to refuse Safari's offer to use their suggested password (as I would possibly never see it again!)

    Safari version 7.0.4
    That option is no more available.

  • My website background image color is not correct in Safari????

    On my website my background jpg image that appears in bottom left corner is not correct in Safari. In ALL other web browsers (Firefox 3.1, IE, Opera, etc) my website looks fine! So it must be a setting or error in Safari. The jpg image in question has a background color of 191919 (dark gray) and it matches in Firefox and IE, etc... but not in Safari? In Safari my jpg image is a lighter color than rest of webpage. My header is the same type of file (jpg with #191919 background) and it looks fine... THAT is the strange part!
    Is this a known issue with safari or am I doing something wrong? I have tried no color management on the image in Photoshop and with color management in Photoshop (when I save for web) and this doesn't seem to matter. It is driving me crazy. My website looks silly in Safari with this error. www.eXacteXposure.com is the website.

    I'm not seeing that problem here, either (Safari 3.1.2 in Mac OS X 10.5.5). The image at the bottom left corner matches the background nicely.
    Have you looked at your site on more than one Mac running Safari? My thinking at this point is that your web site and images are fine, but there's a problem with your installation of Safari. Do you have any third party Safari "enhancers" or hacks installed?

  • CSS formatted div borders do not appear on page(s)

    Hello all,
    I have a website I'm developing using the Skeleton 960 grid. I have defined borders for ID #r_col_entrypage and applied them to the div by using <div class="five columns" id="r_col_entrypage">. The css for the borders is included in the layout.css and appears in design view within Dreamweaver; however, does not appear in any of the browsers I've tested it on - IE, Firefox or Chrome. At one point I had this working but then changed the layout of the page (decreasing some div widths). I have tried changing the size of the two divs that are next to each other - that didn't work, I've tried increasing or decreasing the padding in the css below thinking that perhaps my border was being overlapped and that didn't work either. I'm about out of ideas as to why it is not appearing and wondered if someone could take a look and see what might be happening. I know I have a lot of style sheets with this and that may very well be at the root of this. You can find one of the pages that I'm having trouble with at http://bpiads.org/newsite/donate.html. Thanks very much and let me know if there is any additional info you need.
    #r_col_entrypage {
    padding-left: 20px;
    border-left: 5px solid #46673b;
    border-bottom: none;
    border-top: none;
    border-right:none;
    font-size:110%;
    font-weight: bold;

    Thank you... I had looked at the code so many times I wasn't "seeing" it. This did fix the problem of the border.
    Now, however, my container that contains the navigation has tons of empty space above it which I am trying to figure out... any thoughts on what would be causing that? I tried changing the "height" from 40px to "auto" and that doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Maureen
    Thats because you have set min-height: 200px; on the "banner" <div> which preceeds your navigation <div>. The height of the image in the "banner" <div> is only 35px so NORMALLY you would set the height to 35px BUT you can't do that because you have used the id "banner" for the <div> above that as well, where the height of the image IS 200px. Only use an 'id' once on the page. Just delete the min-height and everything should be ok.
    #banner {
        /*background-image:url(../images/bpi-banner-new.jpg);
        background-repeat: no-repeat;
        position relative;
        height: 200px;
        width: 940px;*/
        min-height:200px;
        min-width:940px;

  • File Place does not appear on my menu. Neither does Tools Photoshop Image processor.

    In Bridge File>Place is grayed out on my menu. Tools>Photoshop>Image processor does not appear at all.  I have reset the preferences numerous times and am good to go until I shut down my computer.  When I reboot they are gone again.  I have a Mac with OS 10.10.2 (Yosemite) and CC.

    Mardi Carter wrote:
    I shut down using "Shut Down" under the Apple menu.....always…
    Well, that's fine for the OS, but sometimes not so great for Photoshop.  Try QUITTING Photoshop from the Photoshop menu, or by Command Q, before you get anywhere near your Apple menu .
    Gene gave you sound advice, but don't forget to run Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility before and after any installation, upgrade or update of the OS or any application.
    You'd think that shouldn't be necessary, but it is indeed vital, indispensable routine maintenance.
    Forget about "it had never happened before", Yosemite is a work in progress.  Apple never gets a major OS X release right until about the dot four or five release, so Yosemite has a way to go before it's at 10.10.4 or 10.10.5.  That has proven to be the nature of the beast.

  • Background images for website enlarges on iPAD and iPhone

    I have a responsive website. My CSS3 for the background looks like this:
    body {
               background url(.../images/backgroundArchx1920.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
               -webkit-background-size:cover;
               -moz-background-size:cover;
               -0-background-size:cover;
               background-size:cover;
    It looks great on a desktop and on my home page on all devices. BUT when I go to pages that have a photo gallery on the the iPAD and iPhone 5 enlarge the background and it is not fixed anymore.
    What am I missing?

    There are many places to get an answer to your question, but this is not likely it. This is a user-supported technical support forum for other users - not developers. Maybe someone here can help, but I think you are better off with Google or a web development support forum.
