CSS Box-to-Box software upgrade

I'm getting ready to upgrade two CSS's in box-to-box redundancy mode.
The upgrade is simple enough, but what are the best practices for two boxes in box-to-box?
I suppose I can copy the software up to the master box. Then force the standby box to be master and copy up the software to the standby.
Perform the upgrade/reboot on the standby. Then once the standby is again operational, do the master.
Seems cumbersome. Any suggestions?

I would suggest upgrading and rebooting the secondary CSS, then do the primary. Â However, I would suggest you verify the APP session status between the 2 CSS's BEFORE upgrading and rebooting the primary. Â If you can ensure APP session communication between the load balancers you should be okay to perform the upgrade on the primary device. Â In my opinion this is the better if the two options you have outlined.

G4 Box software upgraded recently to 17.3

I havent used BTY much lateley as HH5 is still dropping connection to often (I should k=look on the bright side and think of the money I have saved not watching films) However, as the above problem seems to be slowly (very very slowly mind you) improving I thought i woulld catch a bit of thr TdF on Eurosport.
I notice my little G4 box software was upgraded a few weeks ago to 17.3 ....... anyone any ideas what's fixed/added &/or changed ????
I have noticed I can get a red button (almost forgot that ever existed) but cool timing for Games in Scotland (hopefully BBC will be doing their bit again).

Thanks for that ........... my Red button is still working, that's two days on the trot (not a record I know but ...... it's better than Infinity 2 & HH5 at the moment .... that gives me Infinity 1 and even that goes AWOL every day!!!)

Software upgrade on box-to-box redundant CSS's

I am planning a software upgrade from version 5.00 Build 63 to version 6.1 on a pair of CSS 11150 devices running box-to-box redundancy.
Should both devices be upgraded at the same time, or can I split them and upgrade on consecutive weekends ?

if it was 2 different 5.0 release, I would say ok.
But a 5.0 and a 6.1 release, it could be ok but that's not 100% sure.
Sorry, that's all I can say.
Maybe you could put both images on the CSS, boot the CSS out of 6.1 and configure them to reboot with 5.0 in case something wrong happens.

Is the software upgrade img 1.9 coming to motorola boxes or just cisco boxes, and when is it coming to SE Pa?

All boxes (Moto and Cisco) will be upgraded to 1.9a. When is another story. SE PA (VHO8 was supposed to get it last week, but something stopped the push. Any dates would be a guess.

CSS software upgrade failed

Hi everyone,
My customer had a problem during upgrading CSS software from 7.50.303 to 8.10.602.
He executed upgrade but it was failed with the following message.

Cannot delete enough installed versions to allow the upgrade.
One cannot delete an image that is the currently running image,

in order to continue with this upgrade.

There is no another information on the CSS but I have just the above message.
Have you experienced similar symptom? or Do you have any information why this is happened and/or how can resolve this problem?

Can you please share the commands you have run for upgrading the CSS software.
Kindly tell how many versions are already installed on you CSS.
Use the version command to see the currently running software version.
To
a. List the ADIs on the CSS.
(config)# show installed-software
sg0720104
sg0730003
b. Access boot mode:
(config)# boot
(config-boot)#
c. Use the remove command to remove the ADI.
(config-boot)# remove sg0720104
If you are having two software version installed.
Kindly send me the output of the
(config)# show installed-software
Before you can upgrade your CSS, make sure you have enough space on the box to
complete the upgrade.
Because a hard-disk-based CSS can contain a maximum of four ArrowPoint Distribution
Images (ADIs). A Flash disk-based CSS (CSS 11150 or CSS 11800) can contain a
maximum of two ADIs. If the limit has been reached, you must remove one ADI
version before you can add a new version.

Before you can upgrade your CSS, you must copy the new CSS software to your FTP server and configure an FTP server record so the CSS recognizes the server. Use the show installed-software version-limit command to display the maximum number of installed versions allowed on your hard disk or Flash disk.
When upgrading the CSS software, you can use the upgrade script or manually enter CLI commands. The upgrade script allows you to upgrade the CSS either automatically or interactively by responding to script prompts.
Either way, the tasks that the script performs include:
•Checking to see how many installed software versions are installed on the CSS, and if the CSS contains the maximum number of installed software versions, then deleting an older software version.
•Archiving the running configuration to the startup configuration.
•Copying the new ADI to the CSS boot-image directory.
•Unpacking the new ADI.
•Copying the scripts and user profiles from the older CSS software to the new software. The copied scripts do not include Cisco-supplied scripts except default-profile.
•Setting the primary boot file to the new ADI.
•Rebooting the CSS.
We recommend that you use the upgrade script because the upgrade script ensures that the existing scripts and user profiles are copied to the new software.
When manually upgrading the CSS software, you must enter CLI commands to perform the same tasks that the upgrade script would perform.
You can run the upgrade script to perform the software upgrade without having to enter any information. The script automatically:
•Checks to see how many installed software versions are installed on the CSS. If the CSS contains the maximum number of installed software versions, the script deletes an older version.
Note The script does not prompt you to delete a version of software that you configured as the primary or secondary boot file. On a disk-based system, you may need to quit and then deselect the primary or secondary boot file before continuing with the upgrade.

Override Link Class in "Other CSS" Box

Hi -is there a way to override the class of a link in the "other styles" box for a component?
My example is this:
I use a skin with a dark header. The text for the widgets in the header are white (Administration, etc)
The body of the site is white.
When I put another widget that uses the same class (x106 in this case) it makes the link color white and you can't see it on the page.
I've tried many ways to go into the "other CSS" box (under the style tab) and none seem to work.

That's not exactly the problem. I know what the classes are (x106 and x107).
The problem is that I am trying to use two "widgets" or ADF components (like the login/logout or My Favorites links) on two different background colors.
I cannot get into the code of the ADF component to tell it to use a different class.
Also, if I change the class (x106 for example) it changes ALL of them.
What I think I need is a way to override the CSS for the link in the "Other CSS" box for that component somehow (I've tried many things - can't figure it out and not sure it can be done). I would think that this would override the class in the skin.
In short - what I'm asking, I guess, is this.
IS there a way to override the CSS LINK color for an ADF template component - OTHER THAN in the Skin's CSS file.

Have some performance issues on Windows XP, too.
I am using d3d prism settings to render on Windows 7 and XP. On Windows 7 everything working fine.
On Windows XP it is slow and sometimes flickering.
I didn't find a solution.
1) Tried to start the application with other prism settings like -Dprism.order=d2d and OpenGL.
2) I changed the 3d graphic settings that made it better, but didn't solve the issue.
Someone knows the difference of rendering the javafx application in Windows 7 and XP (DirectX 11, DirectX9.0c)?

My CSS box doesn't seem to be pushing the text out of the way

I've just managed to get CSS boxes working on my site, and as
you'll see have applied them to the right hand side of a number of
pages and added links. I looked at the site locally and online last
night from my machine and everything seemed to be working as
expected.
However, I've just got to work and had a look at some of the
pages and the text box A - doesn't seem to have extended enough to
surround all of the linked text and B - doesn't seem to have pushed
the surrounding text out of the way enough so now there's a
horrible overlapping this going on.
As I have set the box's height properties to something like
150 (can't quite remem) I'm assuming this is what is causing A and
B? So, how do I then set the box's properties so that it will
shorten or lenghten depending on how much text I put inside it -
just leave the height property field blank?

Yes. The answer is to never set the height of a box which
contains text
(unless its for a scrolling area). Let the amount of text
within the box
determine the height.

Also in the box i have an image.

Add a hyperlink to a css box? not sure what exactly do you mean. However, you can add a hyperlink in your html code like this:

Epson Workforce 845 will not print after IPad software upgraded

All worked well before I upgraded my Ipad2 software yesterday. No longer prints. Message when I press print says it is searching for an AirPrint printed, and finds none on my network. Nothing has changed except the software upgrade. hat must I do?

Thanks...other computers on the wireless network continue to work well. The Epson Workforce 845 is an approved printer on AirPrint. Trying to find a printer setup screen on the iPad without success. When I bought the new wireless printer, it worked right out of the box with the iPad.
I am tempted to restore the software to the original factory settings through iTunes but fear losing everything that has been added since I got it. A disclaimer on iTunes says I can back all up, and later reinstall after I reset to original factory settings, but I am skeptical. Any experience in this area?

two requests in the next software upgrade pleeeassseeeeee
1. Contacts: im not blind pleeeasseee can we have the ability to reduce the size of the text, its massive.
2. Contacts: I have all the birthdays in my contacts, the most obvious thing for me is for there to be a tick box in each contact that says "Add to Calendar" with another box setting an alarm for that entry.
I cant believe ive entered all birthdays into contacts and now i have to enter them all again into calendar lol.
Surely please someone else say this would be useful?

Software Upgrade Problems!

I had to reset my whole iPod and I plugged it into my computer, but it's not syncing the software upgrade to it.
I'm not buying it over again, and it still shows that I bought it in my Purchase History.

Look at your purchase history for the order number.
This is what I did:
On the 'Choose A Category' Section:
Purchase(s) - Missing
Then: I'm unable to locate my purchased items.
Enter your Order Number and in the Text Box say that it got erased when you restored your iPod touch.
They replied to mine within 24 hours and I got it back.

Software upgrade assistant launches IE

Please help! Everytime I plug my phone into my computer, the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant starts Microsoft's Internet Explorer and loads a verizon web page. I can't find any way to stop this from happening. I don't use IE because it's too great a security risk. I don't appreciate Verizon malware loading this program without my permission. I also don't need and don't want to see Verizon's web page everytime I plug in my phone. I tried removing the Software Upgrade Assistant, but then I get the "Software available for your phone" pop-up instead. How can I prevent my system from starting IE everytime I plug in my phone?

      Thanks for your message. My PC still connects to the internet
just fine, but everytime I plug the phone into the USB port, the new
software launches Internet Explorer (on the PC) and loads Verizon's
Consumer Products web page. There are two problems with that. First, I
don't use Internet Explorer because of it's inherent security risks and
I don't want it running on my machine. Second, I don't care to be
spammed with the Verizon Consumer Products page every time I plug my
phone in to sync it or charge it (several times a day). I was hoping
there was an option to turn this "feature" off. A simple options menu
box that would let me choose between "on connect launch browser." and
"on connect do nothing" would be sufficient. I've reviewed all the
options and this choice doesn't appear to be available, hence my question.
      Note that this never happened until I did the 4.3 upgrade, so I
have to assume it is another one of the several defects in the upgrade
package. There are a couple of simple ways to fix this defect. The
first, and best way, is for the software to give me the option to
launch, or not launch Verizon's consumer products web page on USB
connect. That would solve the problem completely. Failing that, the
Verizon software should use the system default browser instead of
launching IE. That might still be annoying, but at least it would
resolve the security problem.
      I appreciate your response to my inquiry and hope that Verizon and
Samsung will continue working together to fix the many problems with the
4.3 upgrade. Hopefully Verizon will recognize that the browser market
has changed and IE users account for less than 23% of the browser market
today (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browser_wars). Verizon needs to
adapt to the new browser climate and stop writing software that is
dependent on IE.

CAN'T DOWNLOAD JANUARY SOFTWARE UPGRADE!!

hey so ok this is what's happening.
before we start YES I have updated to both ipod touch software 1.1.3. AND to itunes 7.6!
I plug in my iPod, open iTunes, and go to the iTunes store. I click on the "January software upgrade" link on the store's homepage, and it takes me to a white page with pictures of iPod touch, descriptions of the new apps and features, icons for them, and a list of system requirements. A message in red text says "Connect iPod touch and click 'check for updates' before installing the January software upgrade". Umm but I already did! Also, at the bottom of the page of the left and right sides of the page are buttons saying "no thanks" and "remind me later" respectively.
There is no option anywhere on the page to purchase the upgrade. What gives?

I seem to be having the same problem as others. I have purchased the software but cannot get any further. It will not appear in the purchased box under store. I have spoken to Apple and they were no help whatsoever. I am getting really hacked off. Would you walk into a shop buy something and then be told sorry you cannot have it, email us and tell us what your problem is. MY PROBLEM IS I HAVE PURCHASED SOMETHING AND I CANNOT HAVE IT.......... The lightscribe DVD drives does not read media. Attempted software upgrade to no avail. Error.

The drive would not read media regardless of type or format of CD/DVD. Downloaded and attemted lightscribe DVD software upgrade; however, during installation system generated error stating "InProc Error". Something in programming of upgrade (get file...).

You may want to try this Microsoft Fix-It.
What can I do if my CD or DVD drive doesn't work properly?
You could also try using System Restore to restore a previous restore point from before this became an issue.
If that doesn't work, you could try a recovery. Recovering your laptop to its original, out-of-the-box state is a great way to eliminate software as a possible cause of the problem. Note that doing a system recovery will return the laptop to its default conditions, completely wiping your data. Information on how to perform a system recovery can be found in your user's guide. On most models you can hold '0' (zero) with the computer turned off. Then press the power button while continuing to hold '0' until the recovery utlity starts.
