CSS Export Efficiency

A few developers and clients have noticed that Muse exports CSS for every single page of a site rather than utilize one, consolidated sheet.
Are there plans to make this approach more efficient?
It seems redundant to have individual CSS for each page even though the style pages can be limited to 1 or 2 in Muse.

I am just curious as to why the CSS export feature does not allow the export of images that have rollover effects applied? Is there an extension that will allow this to happen, or do we just need to do this manually? It's not really too big of a deal because it is fairly simple to do in Dreamweaver, it would just be nice to save this step.
It is always best to allow Fireworks do the job it's best at - create website layouts.  Slice up the images and export them individually and use a HTML editor like Dreamweaver to write the code.  Were you able to do this step in FWs it may save you a step, but the code it would output would be bloated and fragile as it was when FWs exported those awful dropdown menus, which thankfully have been removed from the program  :-)

  • Css export produces no results

I have made a pretty simple layout with  a few 3 slices and I can not
get anything to export at all.
    The page is blank?!?!?!
I had updated Fireworks to 10.0.3 and the CSS export files before this started.
I waited 2 years for this functionality. I love it, but its as buggy as all heck.
    Can someone help?
    File is attached.

  • EPUB CSS exporting issue

Today I came across an important issue in InDesign's CSS creation during EPUB export. It is best described here:
    http://www.pigsgourdsandwikis.com/2010/05/indesign-flubs-exporting-headers-to.html
But I will paraphrase... When a paragraph style is defined as part of the TOC, and therefore becomes one of the 'headers' on EPUB export, the 'margin' settings for that style (which come from the 'space before', 'space after', 'left indent', and 'right indent' settings in the paragraph style) are not correctly set. For example, instead of setting the margin as 1 em, InDesign will set it as 0.01 em (which has little or no effect on the appearance of the text).
This only occurs when a paragraph style is part of the TOC and thus becomes a header in the CSS file. If it is not a header, the conversion to margin settings in CSS seems to work fine.
I couldn't find anything about this on the forums, so I thought I should post it. It seems that right now, the only workaround is to manually edit the CSS file. I have been using Sigil to do this. I should add that I'm using InDesign CS5 on Snow Leopard - I don't know if the problem existed with CS4.

  • Concept to html and css export in FWCS5

    Hi,
I'm trying to "play" with the image to html/css for website design.
    I have a site http://bhbws.com/fairy/index02.php
that I'd like to try this out on.  I have several issues...
when I go to export it's exporting as .tiff and I can't find in the preferences where to change this.
how do I export it when I have "simple rollovers" for the navigation??
I think I can figure out the rest...
    TIA

After adding slices to your document, use the Optimize panel to select image formats for the slices and compression levels. When finished, choose File > Export. In the Export dialog window, choose export as CSS and images, or HTML and images. Export to your predefined Dreamweaver site.

  • Newsletter creation and CSS export in Adobe Fireworks

I am a new to adobe fireworks and am currently in the trial mode of my download.
I was advised that Adobe FIreworks CS6 is the ideal program to create graphics and text to build a newsletter for my company.
Not knowing much about the program, I was able to add graphics, text and hotspots on specific images and text with an html link for customers to be able to click to sign up for the newsletter via our website.
The million dollar question I have is how in the world do I export this document and paste it into the "body" of an email to send to 5k contacts?
I do not want an attachment, I want the body fo the email to be html or css coded, but I know nothing about either of the two or how to do it.
I did find one video that walked me thru the export css process, but none of my images were shown and 90% of the text was missing.
I believe I need to understand "layers" to get this to work properly but could really use some help!
I am dangerously close to missing out on advertising to all 5k contacts before the holiday. Please help!!
BTW - the reason for doing this instead of using standard mailchimp or constant contact is because I purchased my email list and those are forbidden in both constant contact and mailchimp hence why i need to create my own opt-in newsletter to get people to opt-in via my website.
    Thanks in Advance!!

Seriously, do not use Fireworks to generate the html for your webpage.  It is graphics program with *some* html capabilites, but I would never use it for a live site.  It is always best to create the layout in Fireworks, slice it up as for use as individual images, or uses 'pieces' for background images and write the markup (html + css) in Dreamweaver or a HTML editor of your choice.
This tutorial may help you make the transition.  Naturally it helps to have at least a basic knowledge of html and css before working with Dreamweaver, it will make using DW so much easier.

  • Fireworks cs5 & CSS export

hi, I recently watched the video with the new features of Fireworks CS6 and I liked that CSS code extraction that has (http://forums.adobe.com/community/fireworks/post!input.jspa?containerType=14&container=223 1). I'm currently having the CS5.5 (Fireworks CS5) collection on my computer, so I wonder whether its possible to add somehow this feature in this version I'm having too as an update or exchange.

Sadly, the functionality of the CSS3 Mobile Pack was recently disabled for CS5 users—so even if you'd been able to download it, it would no longer be working. (True, it was an Adobe Labs feature, but it was also being used to promote Fireworks CS5, which makes their decision to disable it a questionable move, in my opinion.)

  • Exporting Paragraph Styles as CSS in AICS5

Why can't paragraph style be exported in CSS3, but character styles can?
I have a number of paragraph styles that I'd like to export.  I'm looking for a fast way to export all the paragraph styles, rather than having to convert them to character styles.  Any ideas?

Fireworks does not allow multi-page CSS export, the thought
    being (I
believe) that you would create the design for your main page,
    export it
as CSS and images, edit CSS and HTML as needed in DW (and it
    will be
needed) and then generate your site within DW or your
    preferred web
    design application.

I wonder if it´s possible to export all pages from

Yes, in Dreamweaver you can use the CSS panel to move rules
    from one
style sheet to another, or you can simply open the CSS files
    themselves
within DW and copy/paste as needed.
That said, pay careful attention that you aren't duplicating
    or
overwriting classes you need which are in the original CSS
    file.
Depending on what you are doing, you may just want to stick
    with one CSS
export from Fireworks, and then add any additional rules
    manually within
    Dreamweaver.

Figured it out. Instead of cells (td) my table contained
    headers (th).
I'll have to watch cs3 and how it does tables.
Now my question is about neagtive borders
    - IE supports
    - FF 2.0.06 does not, or at least the my I used them
Is there a FF work around?

    Hi Sara,
I was able to reproduce that Item Buttons do always show up in a new line if "New Column" = No is used in a theme 25 app. I have forwarded this OTN forum thread to our CSS expert to give some input.
As everything is appearing in the same column, the grid is not output. However, we have no way of knowing if the items should be on the same line or not. Regardless of what New Row is set to, the APEX output is exactly the same.
    - Shouldn't the grid be output in all scenarios? Otherwise this is really inconsistent and impossible to handle. Why do you need the information if it's displayed in the same row or not? Isn't that driven by CSS? In the case of theme 25, it's my understanding that "fieldContainer" is always displayed as "block", so it will be displayed in a new line unless it's wrapped in grid column DIVs. Because of that, the grid markup isn't rendered if the grid isn't really used.
Would you prefer a configuration option for the Grid Layout configuration in Page Templates to always render the grid?
Workaround: Set the "Column Span" of any page item to a value higher than 1. This will always force a grid layout.
    - Item buttons should be wrapped in a label template so that theme designers have greater control over placement, alignment and spacing.Actually we want to unify region and item buttons to just buttons. We have to have a look what makes sense. Have you thought about creating an "Inline Button" button template which emits the necessary HTML markup?
I'm not really a CSS export, so I hope Shakeeb will provide you some additional input.

  • Slices & Extract Assets, or Copy CSS & paragraph styles for retina web designs?

I'm trying to figure out how Adobe wants me to work in Photoshop when producing website designs.
Extract Assets is useful for fixed-size objects to produce 50% & 100% assets. 200% png output results in anti-aliasing even from vector shapes. Please correct me if I'm wrong but this seemed to be the case. Slicing is useful for elements on the site that may have variable height/width needing end-caps and repeat-x or repeat-y images e.g. buttons and nav-bars.
If I need to work at 2x resolution for retina, using Extract Assets and Slices, my paragraph and character styles dimensions are doubled, as are the dimensions of all my objects. This makes the Copy CSS a bit pointless - double height, width, margin, padding, shadow blur etc.
Should I be designing at 2x resolution and extracting and slicing, or at 1x and using Copy CSS, exporting paragraphing styles? Or something in-between?

Hi Ben, I ammended this line of code as you have shown and still I have no joy. So I reverted to an older version which was correct, but i am stil having the same issue.
I have a my_site folder (defined local root folder), with the index.dwt in it. In my_site there is also an assets folder with 3 further folders, CSS, JS and Images and their respective files in these.
Bregent. Thanks, I did define at set up. I went back to manage sites and checked there too and thr root file on the local is the same at set up. I just don't get why after I made changes to the carousel and and reiploaded the site I have had issues :-(
Any other places I should be looking people? This is driving me crackers!

  • Is there a way to extract CSS font weight info in illustrator cc

    Hi there,
i am trying to extract CSS font weight infos from Typekit Fonts from the Illustrator CSS export function. No Luck – Is there even a way to do it?
Illustrator is not able to separate between Bernina Sans Semibold or Extrabold oder even condensed vs non condensed…
Help is very much appreciated! :-)

    Sudeshna,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I do not know programing so am unable to do anything with the code in the link provided. This process has caused quite allot of stress as I was able to make something work with one of my clients Flash files into Illustrator but not the other. I have CC and previous versions of Flash but none of them work for what I need. Even when I am able to get an FXG file saved it will not open in Illustrator and I keep getting the same message that the "file needs to be validated". I have no clue what that means or how to validate it. There is nothing online to help.
Is this a problem that Adobe has recognized and that is why it has been removed… for a rebuild? If so, I certainly hope they come up with a better solution than previous solutions. I am surprised there are no posts about this online as I would think it is a headache for others as well.
I am sorry for all of my frustrations and I am certainly not trying to take them out on you. I am just trying to remove vector art from Flash to work with in Illustrator. Easy enough from Illustrator to Flash.
Please let me know of any other solutions you might have and thank you again for your response.

  • Export & Renaming  -  Newbie to Lightroom seeks answers.

I shoot stills for various networks and fortunately (or unfortunately) Aperture has been pretty good to me as an organizational tool where I can edit down images, maybe do some lighting adjustments if it's on a soundstage, then rename them and add metadata and then export them.  It's very easy to batch edit metadata, and everything gets put into the JPEGS and TIFFS that I have to deliver.  I shoot (RAW) on Nikon D3S/D4.  Aperture renames the masters......and the masters names match the jpeg version names if for some reason I need to go back to it and re-export or tweak something for my portfolio.
Needless to say, on a side-project shoot recently, I decided to take the plunge, get Lightroom 4 and give it a try.  I like some of the image editing tools....masks and what not are great. And in my heart I think Lightroom is probably a much better solution in the long run.  Like I said, image editing --good results there....but this renaming/exporting business....holy crap.  I've spent three days so far trying to do this.  Need some of your expert help because my workflow that existed can no longer exist in the Lightroom world.
    Here's what I can't do:
I can't make new versions or (in LR wording) virtual copies (say one black and white, and one color) of the same image and export it as an individual.  Or rename it in sequence.  It always reverts to the master's name.  This is very frustrating.  I re-order my images (to group certain scenes together) in the library/folder view, then I go to rename, and it's great except for those virtual copies.  If I've expanded a stack in a folder, it should rename all images in sequence....it's trying to out think me.  And to that end, it's probably working.
But this is a big problem....because I now have two VideoShoot_32_10222012 images (one a color NEF and one a black and white NEF * Copy) and when exported, one is called VideoShoot_32_10222012.jpg  and the other is VideoShoot_32_10222012-2.jpg.  And of course is not where I want it numbered wise -- in my custom grouping.  So it messes that up by one image number.....I've tried different ways to do this. Including just deciding to take one of the copies out and only have the master.
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DECIDE TO TAKE IMAGES OUT OF MY LIBRARY TO EXPORT EFFICIENTLY.
So, any pearls of wisdom?  Do I have to edit and change metadata (on the raw) in Capture NX2 and then pull into Lightroom?  Do I then export images as JPEGS, TIFFS and keep an archived DNG file?
    Thanks --
    Jeremiah

When LR is told to use the filename in its export naming setup; or when you use the Renaming option for the image file itself; LR has no choice but to repeat the exact same naming for virtual copies, because the same single file is being referred to - both master and virtual copy share that.
But you can include "copy name" within the naming setup at export, as well as the filename. That way, these various versions will each produce consistent, unique-named output (by default, new VCs are created as "Copy 1", "Copy 2" etc but you can then alter that as you wish).
Another thing you could do, is to include a sequence # or image # as part of the export filename - 001, 002, 003... -  image 08 of 36 - that kind of thing. But this numbering might easily then differ for future exports of the same image(s) from LR; which is not ideal IMO.

  • Keyboard shortcuts to indivudual CSS styles

    Hello!
I have a css style I would like to use through a keyboard
    shortcut
    I tried the following:
    * assign a keyboard shortcut to this style through the
keyboard shortcut menu (CSS-styles section), but there the
individual CSS styles do not show.
    * record a command (from the history steps) that assigns
this style and then assign a keyboard shortcut to this new
    command from the
commands manu - but user defined commands do not appear
    there. in the shortcut assigning
    menu
Is there something I did not try and will give me the desired
    shortcut?
    Thanks

So - I don't think you can apply a custom class with a
    keyboard shortcut.
Frankly, if you have zillions of times you have to do this on
    a page, then
you are not using CSS most efficiently anyhow.
