CSS11501 Hangs during Config Sync
We have CSS11501 boxes in redundancy mode. Until now, the config sync process happened without any issues. For the last two occassions, the CSS hangs completely during manually initiated config sync thereby bringing down all active connections..After the sync is completed, the box returns back to normal.
The only changes made in recent time is the Redundancy config (failover from master to backup forcefully)..
Any know issues on the following bundle:-
Version: sg0810002 (08.10.0.02)
Flash (Locked): 07.40.0.04
Flash (Operational): 08.10.0.02
Type: PRIMARY
Licensed Cmd Set(s): Standard Feature Set
Hi, I will check to see if your are hitting any know issue but let me tell you that 8.10.002 is the first release of 8.10 code and we have 8.10.301 already which would be the best way to go at this point.
I will update you with any know issue. It would be useful to see the showtechs when the issue is showing u.
Also when you say that hangs completely:
would no respond to ping to the VLAN IP?
is it accesible via telnet or ssh?
is it accesible via console?
What kind of redundancy are you using? do you see any failover at the time of the problem?
Can you show me the syntax you are using to sync the config?.

ITunes 10.5 hangs during iPhone 4 sync
Just installed iTunes 10.5 and attempted to sync iPhone 4/4.3.5 several times. The process hangs while "Backing up" with the status bar right under the t in (Step 1 of 5). I've swiped the phone to cancel, which leaves iTunes continuing on as if the phone were still syncing. I used Task Manager to quit iTunes on Win Vista, restarted iTunes and attempted to sync again. Hangs in the same place. So, I restarted the computer, restarted iTunes and it's still hanging during Backing up... I am so frustrated! Help!!!
I've two Windows 7 64 bit desktops.
On the one I've always used which has all my backups, apps, music etc etc I'm having the same problem and I've tried everything including above suggestion, removing and reinstalling, New download, stopping processes using MSCONFIG and Autoruns all to no avail.
On the scond PC it's all working perfectly but I've no backups, apps, data, music or data.
Not happy. -
IPhone/iTunes sync hangs during "backup" phase
When I plug my iPhone into my Mac, a sync with iTunes starts. That's fine; what's not fine is that the synchronization always "hangs" during the "Backing up your iPhone" phase. If I click the little "X" on the iTunes display window, it proceeds fine, presumably skipping the backup phase of the sync.
How can I stop this from hanging during the synchronization?
Thanks.I have been experiencing this problem lately as well. I've been using an Iphone for over a year now and this is a NEW problem in the last 30-45 days.
My Iphone takes over an hour and a half to complete the backup. It appears to be hung but is not.
I also just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support....yeah...that was a waste of time. Essentially, they told me that ALL the data on your iphone goes through the Itunes server across your active internet connection and the time can vary depending upon how busy the server is and how much data is on your Iphone.
Holly Crap!....who designed the architecture for this thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this completely unacceptable. If this continues beyond September, I am switching to a Blackberry. When I connect my Iphone I don't expect to retire before the freakin thing finishes. -
BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during start-up
My wife has a 2 years old HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS, at Service Pack 1 level. BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during it's (BB Desktop's) start-up. Initially the screen with BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the BB logo appears but then it goes away and a smallish screen appears and never changes from a blank grey screen. If you mouse over the border it indicates it is not responding. She has been using this product on this PC with no major problems for several years. Looking in the Events Viewer, it seems the error first appears on 10/9/2011. Yesterday I tried to fix the issue by installing the laciest version RIM 6.1.0.36 (she was using .35) That made no difference. I have the program set to run as an Administrator and have told Norton to Trust it.
The Event log entry for the oldest such event contains the following:
The program Rim.Desktop.exe version 6.1.0.35 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
Process ID: 41d4
Start Time: 01cc86f573d09df1
Termination Time: 6677
Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Rim.Desktop.exe
Report Id: aa0d892a-f2e9-11e0-a448-002713bd2c63
Since it is necessary to either task-manager the blank window shut or to tell it to force it to close, these errors may be generated by that action.
Today I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but still no improvement. Any suggestions?I have just copied in the most recent attempt to start it. The full log is quite large

ITunes crashing during manual sync/update requiring use of "Apply" button.
My iTunes will sync new music just fine via the "Recently Added" smart playlist (to my 16GB iPod Nano Touch), but anything else I do that requires me to lock in changes by hitting the "Apply" button immediately locks up iTunes. If I try to manually select a playlist to add and hit "Apply", it crashes.

0x100bfd000 - 0x100c12fff com.apple.calculator 10.7.1 (117) &I am still having the problem. I have noticed a pattern to the seemingly random freezes.
The iPod is stopping to Sync at almost predictable points during the sync. The first stoppage occurs around the 1.9GB part of the sync. This has not always been the same file but it is always around the same place.
When I sync in small chunks the freeze occurs at almost the same place every time. As soon as it freezes, iTunes is toast and the entire computer needs to be restarted.
Anyways, the freeze happens around every 2GB's of data transferred. It does not have to be in one chunk, it is almost like it is happening on the iPod. Like the iPod is kicking itself out of the sync at certain points along it's hard drive or something. Once it freezes and I restart the computer, I can transfer another 2 GB before it freezes again... then restart, repeat. Finally I was able to load up the 14.8 GB I had in my iTunes. Several hours later... not sure if I should take the iPod back or not. If it is the iPod and that fixes the problem great... but if it is my machine, I get another 3-4 hours syncing and restarting my computer. Wheeee! -

K8N Neo 2 Platinum -- Hanging during boot --RESOLVED--
Heres the problem...
My system will hang during boot at anytime, from bios initalization to full windows boot (No BSOD ever and where the pc hangs in the boot proccess is totally random). And the only way to get past the hang is do a soft reset. I have to restart my system up to 3 times before I get a good boot, but once the pc is up and running, it stay running till I shut it down. (no hangs)
Now if I shut it down after the system has been running for a while, the pc will restart normally without any hangs. The hangs only occur after the pc has been down for a time.
I have reseated all the connectors, the memory (even tried different slots), add-in cards, cpu.
I have a clean install of Windows XP Pro (hard drives have been repartitioned and reformatted as NTFS)
All fans are spinning up fine, all temps are within norm, power supply voltages are within norm.
No phsysical signs of bad caps on the system board.
I ran ran Memtest86 for 18 hours striaght with no errors.
Ran CPU stress test with no problems.
No IRQ,DMA,etc conflicts found.
Windows records no errors during a freeze and I have checked for unwanted services/proccess as well.
I have tried min install to no avail.
Bois is retaining its settings (so bios battery is good)
I do not over clock anything. Bios is set to discover all important setting automaticly. (Bios setting are the same now as they were 6 months ago)
I am down to a possible cold solder joint on the system board?
This problem started to occur about a month ago.
If someone has seen this exact problem and has a resolution, well I would appreciate it if you passed along your knowladge
I am down to my last option of RMAing my system board. No. I have not replaced any components due to the fact I don't have extras lieing around nor can I spend the money just to troubleshoot :(

Ok I won't go into all the details of why I missed this but it turns out the northbridge heatsink fan had stopped spinning and thus the hangs during boot due to overheating (hhmmm, when I step back and look at this the symptoms point right to overheating).
This also expains why after several attempts at booting up, once the pc was up it would run like a champ. The chip would of course overheat and cause random freezes. Now due to the placement of the chip and the design of the heatsink once there was enough airflow over the heatsink the chip would remain cool enough to prevent further freezing of the system.
What helped to facilitate this is that I have a ducted fan system installed in the bottom of my case which directs a substantal amount of fresh air to the pci slots, the chip set and the AGI slot as well.
So what have we learned class?
1. check the obvious
2. do a complete physical inspection of your system
3. KISS -- keep it simple stupidIs this your ram:

Main Memory
• Supports dual channel DDR 266/333/400, using four 184-pin DDR DIMMs.
• Supports the memory size up to 4GB
• Supports 2.5v DDR SDRAM DIMM
Due to the High Performance Memory design, motherboards or system configurations may or may not operate smoothly at the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard settings (BIOS Default on the motherboard) such as DDR voltage, memory speeds and memory timing. Please confirm and adjust your memory setting in the BIOS accordingly for better system stability.
Example: Kingston HyperX DDR500 PC4000 operates at 2.65V, 3-4-4-8, CL=3.
For more information about specification of high performance memory modules, please check with your Memory Manufactures for more details.
Manually adjust your ram voltage to 2.65 volts and then manually adjust your ram timings to 3-4-4-8-2T.
If that does not work then do as Richard suggested and strip down to a bar-bone system, this is CPU+fan, 1 stick of ram (try other stick and different slots as one may be bad), graphic card and PS-2 keyboard, if it boots fine without any problems then add one device at a time until you find the problem.
Post back results as there are more things one can try but lets start with the simple stuff and work up. -
N70 hangs during "Updating" Multimedia Messages
I am running WindowsXPsp2, using PC Suite 6.84 on a Toshiba TECRA laptop. I am connecting to a N70 m/phone using a USB cable.
Problem:
When I click on the "Contacts" or "Messages" icon within PC Suite a new "Updating" window opens that shows the progress of synchronisation between phone and laptop but hangs (locks-up) during the sync of Multimedia Messages.Yes :-).
The problem is fixed by removing the "MMS Sync" applic from the phone. I can now upload SMS messages from my phone to my Laptop.
FYI. I re-installed "MMS Sync" applic on the phone and the problem re-appeared. It would appear there is a problem with the "MMS Sync" applic..??
thanks for your help. -
Well I decided to start a new topic on my continuing problem. I reinstalled my memory in the correct config. (DIMM 1 and 3) but it still hangs during POST. I cleared NVRAM, cleared CMOS settings and reloaded the defaults. I have counted the number of times I have to hit the reset button before it decides to load. It is usually 3... I am at a complete loss as for what the problem is. When it works, it works fine, but more often than not, it hangs and the LEDs on my DDR hang also...The memory is brand new so that's not a problem. This might be more of an annoyance than anything that I can fix, but I really don't understand...
Yes, all corsair RAM is warrantied to 2.8V, except PC4000 and above, which they warranty to 2.9V. If you wish to clarify this with them direct then read or post here
I think there is a compatibility problem with this chipset / memory combination, please read:-
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=24288&sid=&hilight=twinx+3200c2
and
http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showindex.php?s=d70e4df71151b858162832276f5f31d1&threadid=14984&highlight=twinx+1024+3200c2
I suspect that PAT is playing a part in this, but you need to confirm this via BIOS.
In Frequency / Voltage Control
Do you have Performance Mode: Slow.
If so, I would try manually setting timings:-
Advanced Chipset Features
DRAM Timing Setting
Configure DRAM Timing by SPD: Disabled
CAS Latency: 3 Clocks
RAS Precharge: 4 Clocks
RAS to CAS Delay: 8 Clocks
Burst Length: 4 Clocks
Integrity Mode: Disabled
and see if you can post.
Second thing to try is just one memory module at a time and run Memtest on each and see which errors.
If you still can't post at relaxed timings, see if trying some NoName PC3200 memory does the trick!
Unfortunately, the only DDR400 Corsair Memory Modules listed in this mobo's Compatibility List is the CMX512-3500C2PT and I have a feeling I've read somewhere that the a fix was implemented on these modules to ensure compatibility.
I would post on the Corsair forum, and see if you can't persuade them to swap your modules for a more compatible type.
The benefits of Low Latency memory on the 865 / 875 chipsets (all manufacturers) are the subject of much debate anyway and whilst opinion is as ever divided, I am firmly in the higher frequency is better than lower latency group.
Hope this helps. -
Hanging during waiting for changes
I just downloaded iOS 7 for my iPhone 4S yesterday. Now it won't sync with iTunes. During the sync process it hangs at the "waiting for changes to be applied" step. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need to wait for a bug patch from Apple?
Lots of people having the same issue

My new Iphone 5 hang during restore process. I've tried all the resolutions proposed above... Pls help!!! (The software is downloaded from apple, unpacked, iphone is prepared, the apple logo appeared on the screen as well as the process bar and... stops! the process bar does not start to fill in...)
In case it helps and additionaly to my previous post,
I attach herewith part of debug file produced during restoration process.
Thank anyone who possibly can help!

IPod/iTunes 6 hangs during updating
I've just spent most of a weekend trying to figure out why a 40GB click-wheel iPod will not sync with iTunes. I'm at a bit of a loss here. I know there are several (long) posts on update issues - perhaps this is just another case. Here's the low-down:
Gear:
* iPod 40GB 'click-wheel' model, 3.1 firmware (2005-09-23 update), firewire interconnect direct to iMac (no dock)
* iMac G4 1GHz, OS X 10.3.9, iTunes 6.0.1, about 1600 songs
Symptom:
iPod appears on the desktop and can browse folders. iTunes starts. Hangs during iTunes update on a random song. Usually <20 into the list - but sometimes anything up to song 1000. Flashing 'do not disconnect' symbol freezes on iPod LCD, iMac hangs (Activity Monitor indicates a >90% cpu load on iTunes process, generally requires a 'hard' restart to recover the iMac - even after force-quitting the iTunes process).
Tried:
* Reset iPod
* Restore iPod with 3.1
* Restore iPod with 3.0.2 (2005-06-26)
* iPod into disk mode and restore
* iPod disk verify and erase using OS X Disk Utility, restore firmware
* New firewire cable
* iPod into diagnostics mode - run most tests including HDD scan (all pass)
* iMac disk permissions verify/fix
* Delete iTunes preferences and restart - library rebuilds
* Copy music to a new location, delete all iTunes data, now start afresh and
use add to library to rebuild library
* Removed songs and entire albums that sync freezes on (just freezes on
another song)
* Checked out iMac firewire ports with iSight
* Discussed with Apple Tech guy at Genius bar, agreed pretty much all steps
had been covered. iPod exchanged believing something like iPod connector
to be the issue. No difference.
So I'm pretty much convinced at this stage the issue lies with the iMac software. iPod and cable have been thoroughly investigated and changed out. iMac firewire ports work with iSight.
I've seen some posts suggesting deleting and restrong from the 10.3.9 update the iPod driver (iPodDriver.kext). This seems pretty drastic! I'm hesitant to go get a Tiger upgrade - this should work with 10.3.9.
Apologies for the long post - but I'd be interested to hear views at this point.
Thanks
40GB click-wheel Mac OS X (10.3.9) iTunes 6.0.1Hey, you the man. I just want to say thank you. I hooked up a just repaired touch wheel iPod to my son's g4 iMAC, and it kept hanging on random songs and even the one's it transferred, it did slowly. I tried everything everyone else has, I did restores and erases forever. And it kept hanging up, so I had to frequently disconnect the iPod to get control back of the computer. This morning I was on the phone with Apple tech for over an hour. His conclusion was that because some of the songs weren't purchased from the Apple Store, I needed to manually transfer each song one at a time. I had to go, so didn't get to try it until later today and same problem. Again I called Apple tech support. Guy was very nice, on phone with him for 90 minutes, he didn't think the first advice made much sense. He gave up in frustration when we couldn't get into the disk utility because iPod kept going to automatic update. He told me to call back tomorrow and speak to a specialist. He said he's never had this much difficulty with an iPod. After the call, I managed to get into the disk utillity and do the erase and repair but didn't do anything. When I finally deactivated the auto update, manually transferring the songs one at a time didn't solve the problem. I read your post, started up after disconnecting the iSight firewire cable, took a chance of activating auto update of songs again, and voila, it transferred all the songs (all 176 of them) in about 10 seconds, like a warm knife through butter. And as they said on Saturday Night Live, it felt "like butter." I will call Apple tomorrow and tell them they really need to do something about this. In the meantime, I'll keep iSight disconnected whenever songs are being transferred into the iPod.
Again, your advice is much appreciated. Thank you for the post.

IPod recognized, but hangs during update
So my iPod will show up in Finder and in iTunes, and automatic updating will begin. However, at random times during the update, sometimes 4 songs in, sometimes 65, the whole process will just hang. iTunes status screen gets stuck on flashing between "Updating iPod..." and Song 65 of 2054 and just flash between those two over and over.
Meanwhile, the iPod screen itself is also stuck and no longer flashing "Do Not Disconnect" -- it's a steady screen with none of the normal flashing.
Tried resetting, doesn't do anything.
Tried restoring, and it hangs after Authenticate asks me for my password to Restore the iPod.
I wind up having to just force disconnect and force quit everything and restart.
Anybody else have this problem? Thanks for any help you can give.
Oh btw, OS 10.3.9, iTunes 4.9, iBook G4.I am having the same issue where it hangs during update -- seems to always happen around the 1800th song. Here's more specifics:
-I've got 7000 songs in my Library
-my iTunes Music folder is located on an external FireWire HD
My Mac has no problems mounting the iPod. No problems restoring with iPod Updater. No problems with erasing using Disk Utility.
I have tried the following:
1. Resetting and then restoring via iPod Updater.
2. Erasing/reformatting via Disk Utility, including zeroing out all data, and then restoring via iPod Updater.
3. Resetting into Disk Mode.
4. Manually updating songs.
5. Automatcially updating songs.
Nothing works. I have been troubleshooting this for about 8 hours now with no luck. No matter what I do differently, it always hangs around song 1800. I even tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes -- and I have tried this with several different user accounts and on different partitions I have set up.
When it "hangs," the iPod itself just makes a the "clicking" sound of a HD. I'm wondering if the HD is just bad -- but it came up with no errors when checking with Disk Utility.
Any more suggestions?

Arch Live CD x64 hanging during boot at "triggering uevents"
Hello!
I recently was recommended Arch by a friend, and after I followed the 'Newbies Guide' and burning a live CD to install Arch with, it appears to hang during Live CD boot at "installing uevents."
I am trying to install Arch as a dual boot on a late 2008 MacBook Pro which is currently running x64 Windows 7. I have plenty of HD space (100gb free and 100gb unallocated to install Arch onto).
Here is a picture:
http://i.imgur.com/Y8P41nf.jpg
I get the same error weather I try to install x64 or i686 (I think that's what it's called). Is there any reason for this?
Thank you!

You can try nomodeset. Seems to be a failure in loading a driver for your hardware. To read more on similar issues, there's a few posts with more info and suggestions by googling it.

Disk utility hangs during disk verify
Initially 'disk verify' registered errors on exit - minor error/issue it said, some kind of header problem, so I ran disk utility off the install disk. Now the machine's native version of disk utility hangs during disk verify, blue & white spirals forever.
This coincidentally straight after my gmail/google address/account was hacked a couple of days ago.Have you tried booting in SafeBoot mode (shift key held on start
until login screen appears) then launch Disk Utility and then run
its 'repair disk permissions' item, selecting the Macintosh HD;
and then note the repair window. It should fix something.
And when Disk Utility is done, quit it, and restart the Mac normally.
{...It is unlikely something from gmail affected your computer unless
you open up unknown sourced emails or go to odd web sites where
something may be downloaded from there, which you would almost
have to install (as admin, etc) for malware to work. You can get and
try ClamXAV for free to see if it sees any malware virus content.}
If you use Gmail, and do not log in using the https:// (secure http)
you should change the habit and bookmark the secure login site.
And when booted from the Installer disk and running Disk Utility
from there, see about running "repair disk" and not verify. The
repair choice will verify; but verify will not repair. Could be if
you cannot use the Utility to Repair the issues, and the other
SafeBoot mode and the computer's Disk Utility to get it working
you may need to further troubleshoot and/or get third-party tools.
In any event...
Good luck & happy computing!
