Cube Remodelling in BI 7.0

Here is my scenario.
I am working on a cube ZC_IC05 and this cube is compressed every month.
Dimension 1 - 0material
Dimension 2 - 0plant
Dimension 3 - 0mat_plant (0mat_plant has 0plant compounding)
For some reason 0mat_plant is incorrectly populated in the cube. So I would like to correct it by re-populating as 0mat_plant = 0material.
Can this be achieved using Cube remodelling???
Appreciate any help!
Anirudh.

Dear Anirudh
Remodeling, it's the way to change data model already exist. When you add a characteristic or key figure to an existing data model, you must check if the existing data in InfoCube must be enriched with the new information (characteristic o key figure). According your question "For some reason 0mat_plant is incorrectly populated in the cube. So I would like to correct it by re-populating as 0mat_plant = 0material" is relationship to enrich your historical data with the new information, in this cases as Visahl said, you must delelte the data in your InfoCube insert the new InfoObject "0material" and reload the data. Before do this, integrate the new characteristic in the data flow.
Otherwise, you can use a remodeling rule that is a collection of changes to your InfoCube that you perform simultaneously. For characteristics, you can add or replace characteristics with the following: a constant, an attribute of an InfoObject of the same dimension, a value of another InfoObject of the same dimension, a customer exit.
You can remodel InfoProviders in the transaction RSA1 choosing Additional Functions -> Remodeling in the context menu for your InfoProvider in the InfoProvider tree.
After that you should be create a remodeling rule. Enter a desccription for remodeling rule and choose the InfoProvider "ZC_IC05" and choose Create. After that, choose add operation to list, and choose remplace characteristic and you must specify the new characteristic "0material" is to be filled. And mapping for characteristic, in other words, the new characteristic "0material" is filled with the values of another characteristic, to adopt  the values of the original, for example"0mat_plant". Choose "Transfer" and save your specefication. Choose Check and choose impact analysis to display a list of the objects affected by remodeling. To the last step it is "Schedule" to start the remodeling and monitor.
Because it is a new functionality of BI 7.0 be carefull make a copy of the InfoProvider "ZC_IC05" before do the remodeling
I hope these comments join of the rest can help you!

  • Non Cumulative Inventory Cube Remodel

    Hello Gurus,
I've existing inventory cube with non-cumulative key figures with large amount of data. We are using standard non cumulative key figures 0TOTALSTCK, 0ISSTOTSTCK & 0RECTOTSTCK.
Now I've a new requirement to report issues (0ISSTOTSTCK) & receipts (0RECTOTSTCK) based only on LB. Right now they both are in base UOM. Converting them in LB in query (on the fly) is not an option because of volume / performance of report.
I'm planning to do this in backend by adding two more key figures for issues & receipts where i'll convert standard ones in LB. I'm not going to touch any of existing non cumulative key figures. But the overall structure (F table) is going to change.
I'm concerned whether this will work? Any risks? Marker updates?
    Thanks.

  • Use of Remodeling tool in BI 7.0

    Hi,
Can any one list the uses of the Remodeling tool in BI 7.0.
    Because the question is :
when we can remove or delete or replace the required InfoObject  in an Infoprovider( in particular a cube) we take the backup of the data in another cube, do the required changes in the old cube and then create the Data transfer pipeline { Export DS, update rules/Transformations( including the required transformation for the new InfoObject ), etc..} form the backup cube. we will do the same with the Remodeling tool also(make changes by taking the backup), then why we need a separate tool to perform the same task.
    please list all uses.

    Hi,
    Regarding remodeling Steps
Remodeling is one of the good feature in BI.
This helps in remodeling your Infoprovider, even when its filled with data.
where as in BW 3.5 you need to remove data before remodeling.

  • Inventory cube - non cumulativekey fig values are showing -ve values

    Hi Guru's,
For Improving the performance of inventory cube *0IC_C03
    The following steps i did:
    1) Created History cube by taking a copy of actual cube (0IC_C03).
    2) Transferred all the four years of data (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) to history cube(4 yr data) as a back up to do clustering and for cube remodelling.
    3) After doing all these, loaded the current 3 years (2008, 2009, 2010)data back to the actual cube and kept one year data in the history cube (2007) (i.e maintained only recent 3yrs data in actual cube).
    5) Created a multiprovider includes actual and history cubes and populated the existing report on top of the multiprovider.
    6) After purging one year data from the actual cube, stock values in the reports are showing negative values
    7) To clear that issue i loaded the 2007 year data back to the actual cube (now the cube has all years data as it was before) to avoid the negative stock value, but again stock values are showing negative values.
How to solve this issues in inventory cube..
how too eliminate the negative value in reports which was working prperly before data purging( removing the first year data from the actual cube)

Hi prayog.. 10q for answering... Yeah i went 2 the data targets. And the forumlae is already wrriten like this IF( Debit/Credit = 'H', Qty in OUn, ( 1- * Qty in OUn ) ) for Actual Consum. K.F and IF( Debit/Credit = 'H', Amt. in local curr., ( 1- * Amt. in local curr. ) ) for Amount.....
So i already said that from one of the infosource the data is flowing through ODS and then 2 CUBE. So i checked out the data in ODS with the movement type and posting date as per in the Report.. I selected the 'Debit/Credit' = H and Movement type and Posting date... But in ODS o/p the keyfig's are not displayed..... This is the problem...

    Hi,
Remodeling is one of the good feature in BI.
This helps in remodeling your Infoprovider, when its filled with data.
You can add characteristics and key figures in BW 3.5 without deleting data in the infocube, but you can't remove them without deleting all data first.
Deleting data is also needed when you change dimensions.
If you dont need any history data you can just add the keyfigure in Edit Mode. The corrresponding update rules may get deactivated and you may have to reactivate them again.

  • How to Load data in remodeled info provider(Info cube) ?

I have added one key figure  in existing cube by using remodeling process.
I changed the transformation rule and reloaded the data but the new key figure is still showing value as 0.
Can anyone please explain complete step by step process of loading data in remodeled info cube.
I am new to SAP BW. please help me to sort out this issue.
    thanx

    Hi,
After adding the key figure, use one of the following options to populate data.
    1. Constant: To populate constant data for new key figure.
    2. User Exit: To populate data from different source.
For replacing the key figure, use the following option to populate data.
Customer Exit: To populate data for the replaced key figure.

  • Remodeling a time characteristic in a cube - Doesn't allow??

I have a cube containing time characteristic 0CALWEEK.  I would like to use the remodeling toolkit so i can write some custom user exit code to replace the values in this field based on logic.  However I am not allowed to select this field!!  Why doesn't SAP allow you to remodel (change values) in any of the time characteristics in a cube??  Is there any way around this?
    Thanks, Peggy

You are close to my issue.  This is a regular basic cube.  (no non-cumulative)
It contains snapshots of an 18 month plan (future dates).  We have over 2 years of snapshots.  Last year the source system sending us the plan data used a calendar that handled the weeks of 2010 differently than the SAP calendar.  (SAP buckets the first 10 days of 2010 in week 1; whereas our company only used first 3 days of 2010 as week 1).
Anyway, we have about 100 million records in these snapshots to adjust the calendar week to match up with the SAP calendar week.
All we wanted to do was to use  the remodeling toolkit on the 0calweek field and choose "replace characteristic" and populate with a bit of ABAP code.  However we are not allowed to pick any time characteristics.
We know we could always use the old standard ways to move data around to dummy cubes and fix, but that takes hours of processing for all the data we have to do.  (actually about 10 cubes this size).
So we are testing the remodeling toolkit by adding a new characteristic that "references" ocalweek and using Abap to populate that the way we want.  We can move the queries over to the new field.  That seems to be working and fast since work is done using Oracle level commands, instead of data packet by data packet.
Do you have any other ideas?
    Thanks much!

  • Remodelling cube  for Time characterstics

Can we do remodelling for A cube with Time characterstics. I am trying to add Fiscal year to existing cube with remodelling option. But it is giving error message"please enter a valid value for characteristic ". Can you please help me to understand which char/KF we can remodel.

You can model everything in the cube - Char , KF , Time Character.

  • Remodeling the cube and adding sales document number

    HI guys
I have a requirement of sales order number in the sales over view cube ( 0sd_c03 ) so i am planing to remodel the cube to add sales order number and item
as i can not create a new dimension i have to add these two charecteritics to a old dimension
so whether it will give any perfomance issues later on as the sales document number will increase the
records in that dimesion or can i go ahead to do it or i have to delete the data in cube and change the cube adding a new diemension ( line item dimension)
    please suggest..
    Regards
    Amiya

    Hi Amiya,
    Regarding ur case ..
In my opinion, it should be separated into different dimension ..
Because it will make that old table dimension become have huge data,
it will make slow in fetching the data.
    To make it.
    1. Edit Info-Cube using t-code RSA1
    2. Create new dimension, and insert dummy characteristic, then save, and activate it.
    3. In the remodeling, t-code: RSMRT, you can add those 2 characteristics there, you also can initilize the value for those characteristic.
    4. Then, in the remodeling, you delete the dummy characteristic.
Hopefully it can help you a lot.
    Best regards,
    Niel.

  • How to transport a Cube after a remodeling activity?

    Hi
I did a remodeling in a cube, where I´ve added 2 new fields.
It´s being working pretty well in Dev, also the update rules, Cube, ODS, infopackage, everything looks fine, but when I closed the request with the remodeling activity and transported to QA, the changes did not appeared.
My question is, should I transport the Cube again? In this case, should I add in the transport package, update rule, ODS, whatever it´s depended of this Cube?
    Thanks
    Rody

    Hi
Guys Thanks for all the support until now! But did not work at all.
I tried this load several time, each time I´ve tried to bring less records setting some restriction in the Infopackage, but did not resolved either.
I´m creating a new request with everything, Cube, Update, Info, fields, and see if this time it will go ahead.
I´ve also tried other load that uses the same logical source system and it worked, so I guess it´s something related to this specific change.
    Any clue will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • New fields addition to BW 3.5 version ODS and Cube and transport to PRD.

    Hi,
We have a scenarion on 3.5 wherein there is a enhancement to ODS and Cube(few new fileds are added), this New ODS also feeds data to Cube.  Since we do not had data on Quality system, we had no problem in adding fields to ODS and cube, but now we need transport these changes to Production, In production ODS and Cube has large data. we have few doubts.
    1. Shall we need to delete data from ODS and Cube then Transport request to Production server.
    2. Is it ok to move transport request without deleting data in ODS and Subsequent Cube in production system
    Guys and Gals,
what is your suggestion on this one. WE are in BW 3.5 only. No BI7.
    Please revert back.

    Hi
you can directly transport that to production.
the image will over write with the existing one and for the new object add , a new table space will be created.
it will not affect the Old data
But in the Cube even if the data is there there is a concept called remodeling

  • Adding new info object to a cube.

    Hi Friends,
This is a BI SYSTEM, we have a cube with existing data in it. Now we need to add a new info object to the dimension of the cube.
Now we can add the info object to the cube in 2 ways.
    1. remodeling the cube
    2. select the cube in RSA1 , RIGHT CLICK, IN CHANGE MODE add the info object to the dimension of the cube.
now my question is why we have the concept of remodeling, when we were able to add the info objects to the dimensions of the cube in the change mode.
    kindly explain me in detail.

    Hi Soumya,
If you go by option 2 of adding Infoobject in Cube by going in change mode and adding the respective Infoobject in Dimension,
Then you have to delete Data first from the Infocube in order to add infoobject by this option. Otherwise it won't allow you to add infoobject.
But by remodelling option you can add the infoobject in dimension without deleting any data from Cube. But this option has its own limitations too.
Please refer the following link for Remodelling Concept:-

  • Addition of 0MAT_PLANT  to a cube

    Hi,
I have the following requirement. I need to create a report on a cube where I need to display a field called Import Code of a material This Characteristic is an attribute of 0MAT_PLANT InfoObject. The cube has 0MATERIAL and 0PLANT. But it does not have 0MAT_PLANT InfoObject. Since, the cube is very critical in the system, and loading the cube will require appreciable production downtime, so we cannot add this InfoObject to the cube as then we have to reload the data.
In that case, what would be an alternative solution?
Would creating an Infoset on the cube and 0MAT_PLANT help?

  • Adding of new infoobject to a cube?

    Expert's,
I have an issue, where in I need to add a new  infobject to a cube. This cube is getting updated by an ODS.The ODS is updating deltas  to cube.Upto ODS it is Full update. The infobject which has to be added to a cube is allready available in ODS and also getting populated.
    Now my question is ,
How can I add new infobject to a cube without deleting the contents of the cube.I<b> also need all hystorical data whatever available for that infobject.</b>Hope I am clear.
Points will be definitely awarded for the right answers.

    Hi  Vasu,
if you are using BI 7.0 means.. you can do that through <b>Remodelling</b> .. option... select your cube. and  right clcik  it.. and in the context menu you can find this option...
with this.. with out deleting old data you can add new fileds and populate the data also...
But if you are using 3.x means.. with out deleting the existed data.. you can't addthese  new fields.. and  you can't  load the  those particular data ..
so,  you need to  take the backup of that data.. and  change the structure of cube... and load  all the data from the  start...
