CUCM 8.6.2a SU2 Cisco CAR Scheduler stopped abruptly

Anyone seen this before on 8.6.2a SU2 (22900-9)
The Cisco CAR Scheduler stopped abruptly due to memory issue. I am not finding any bugs on this in the bug toolkit or release notes for SU3.
There is bug CSCtn99418 which is for the CARIDSPerfmon error but that bug is fixed in earlier 8.6.2 version.
There are no core dumps for this.

Hi,
The OutOfMemory alert points to the following
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCta71863/?reffering_site=dumpcr
Symptom:
High memory usage on CAR Scheduler (carschlr) during auto-purging of partitions.
From "top" command:
PID USER      PR  NI %CPU    TIME+  %MEM  VIRT  RES  SHR S COMMAND
9182 ccmservi  17   0    6 142:11.79 14.8  459m 300m 7116 S carschlr
Possibly,  the "OutOfMemoryError" message can be caught in the CAR scheduler  traces. And/or Total JVM memory usage is close to Max JVM memory  allocated for CAR scheduler. For example:
... JVM status: [Max = 246.56MB, Total = 244.88MB, Free = 3.87MB (1.58%), Used = 241.01MB (98.42%)]
...OutOfMemoryError seen somewhere during CAR Loader Run - Round #2648
Conditions:
When  MAX_CAR_DATABASE_AGE setting is set lower than 34 (31+today+2) days,  and loader is actively running with relatively light traffic. This  setting is controlled via the CAR admin System -> Database ->  Configure Auto purge page. Max Age of Call Detail Records below 34 days  can lead to this condition.
Workaround:
Simply raise  the  MAX_CAR_DATABASE_AGE setting (configurable in CAR's automatic-purge  page), to either its default of 60 days or a value higher than 34.
Further Problem Description:
When  traffic is low, it does not hurt to keep the MAX age at the default of  60 days.  General speaking, raise the MIN/MAX age setttings when call  traffic is low, and lower the MIN/MAX age settings when traffic is high.
The bug is still not fixed , can you try applying the workaround if the setting falls under 34 days.
HTH

  • Cisco WCS service stops abruptly

We have WCS installed on a windows server and lately have noticed that WCS service stops all of a sudden without any intervention and needs a manual restart thereafter.
Is it common or a bug that's causing it or hw can it be addressed ?
    thanks:}

This can be quite complex to troubleshoot. Usually this is an Apache crash of the webserver.
At first I recommend that you make sure you have the appropriate hardware and memory ressources on your server as per the release notes:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6305/prod_release_notes_list.html
Then, it's important to find out what other applications are running on your server and, if you are in a vmware environment, make sure you have the appropriate ressources for your ESX host.
You can post your logs.zip from WCS and I can check what I can find in there.

  • Scheduled Stop and Start all PI communication channels

    Hi,
Is there a way to Schedule Stop all PI communication channels at perticular time and start back at pertuclar date and time?
or is it only a munual way? stop all sender communication channels? if so, how do i keep track of the channels proprties details? like automatic control, external control off etc?
    Thanks.
    Prema

    Hi Prema,
You may try the below steps to start and start the channels automatically.
    1> Open page http://<<hostname>>:<<portnumber>>/mdt/channelmonitorservlet
2> click on "Availability Time Planning" on right top of your page.
3> click on create. Fill up the requied details. Please note the below example is for the channel for which I want to be up only from Monday to Saturday and for only one hour on these days from 11AM to 12PM.
Go to "communication channels" tab enter the channel name as below and it will select the channels for which you want this schedule to work.
Activate this and in communication channel make sure that these channels are in "automatic control". You may do further trial on this and it should serve your purpose if your system has fixed start downtime and fixed start up time.

  • Hyperion Reports Scheduler stopped working after 4 years of reliable servic

    Hello,
I'm puzzled by this, but today at 4:00 AM, the scheduler stopped working. I tried to manually restart the service to no avail. I rebooted the server, nothing. I reinstalled Reports (but selected retain configuration), yet nothing. I'm perplexed as this has been working without issues for 4 years. Next step is to check whether the IT group did a patch upgrade of the OS and may have caused this.
If anyone has an idea, pls forward. Many thanks.

    Hello Community,

Cisco IPS is able to detect and block web-server and other application level attacks. You may see web-based signatures in web category in IME/IDM interface or sort by http-related engine. You can also find their descriptions on page
    http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/ipshome.x?i=62
Documentation says that the most applicable environment for Cisco IPS is corporate network. It was designed for using in it. It doesn't say that Cisco IPS can't protect www/db servers.
If your main critical task is to make web-servers and databases secure you can analyze usage of such solutions as web application firewalls or database guards. They were designed for web/db protection as a main feature.

  • IPhone 3G Starts Playing Music In Car Then Stops

    Hey everyone,
I have a new problem with my iPhone 3G. You see, when I used to have the original iPhone, it used to work fine with my car's headunit: http://mobile.jensen.com/jensen/JensenProductDetail.do?ACTIONTYPE_ID=ACTION_TYPE_PRODUCT_DETAIL&ACTION_CATEGORY_ID=STR_CATEGORY_MOBILEMULTIME DIA&ACTION_PRODUCTID=VM9412
That headunit has a cable that would plug into the iPhone and then the iPhone's playlists would show up on the touchscreen and allow me to control it from there. It was very cool and easy. Music would play continuously without a problem.
Fast forward to recently, when I got the iPhone 3G. Everything is fine, I plug in the iPhone to the cable, it says it can't charge it like it could with the old one (that's fine, I guess... still blows), but here's the thing - the playlists will show up, I can select a song, the song would start playing and then it would just stop randomly and the headunit's screen would show "Reading..." When I checked the iPhone after this happened, it seemed like it just reset the connection for no reason: the little "play" symbol would be gone from the top bar.
This would be totally random too, sometimes I would be lucky and it would play a couple of songs before this would happen. Disconnecting and connecting it again would get rid of the "Reading..." and would bring everything back, but the same problem would just happen a few minutes later. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH THE OLD ONE. I don't know if it's the 2.0 software (yes, I have the latest software on mine) or if it's the new hardware or what, but it's incredibly frustrating. I've tried a variety of things, including having Airplane Mode on and off, ignoring the Airplane Mode dialog popup entirely, etc... but still no luck. Also, this is only a problem in the car, when I connect it to a sound dock I have at home, I don't get this problem.
Please tell me what I can do! Thanks.

I do not believe your problem relates to the car or the charger at all. It is a problem with the iPhone. I have the same problem when I take my iPhone along for a run. I'm noting that it happens when I go for a run because this problem occurs after I've been listening for about an hour. Just as in your case my phone will start and stop randomly. It will also play a song for three seconds and then skip to the next song. Also, in my case, when this happens I can't use the phone. If I try and dial someone it'll start the call and then immediately hang up.
I called Apple support and they gave me the line that this is totally new, never happened to anyone before, etc. Then they told me to reboot the iPhone (holding the button on top and the wake-up button at same time for 15 seconds). They said if that doesn't work I should try a restore. Anyway, rebooting works, but after another hour or so of nonstop listening the problem starts up again. I called Apple again and after 1.5 hours on the phone (hold time, explain problem from scratch, repeat old suggestions, getting transferred, hold again, explain problem again from scratch, same old suggestions) they told me it must be a problem with my corrupted data because no one else has reported this problem. They said there is nothing more they can do.
BTW, I have spoken to two other people in my building who are having the same problem. They too were told that support told them they were the only people having this problem.

  • Bluetooth connection between car & iphone stopped; won't reconnect

The bluetooth connection between my car (BMW) and my iphone just stopped one day. Had it back to the dealer to reset connections, and it wouldn't reconnect - altho' the service guy's iphone connected just fine. Any idea how to rectify this? service guy said the problem is with the phone software, not the car's.

One possible solution is that you have multiple devices connecting at the same time.
I have both my Blackberry phone and my iPad paired. If my phone connection is active, I can't pair my iPad.
This isn't usually an issue for me because I usually only listen to my iPad on my way to work when my phone isn't liable to ring anyway.

  • Cisco IPS 4240 stops file downloads at 90%

Hi everybody. I have a Cisco IPS 4240 with version 7.0.4 installed and upgraded to the last signature. But since it was installed i have the issue with some file downloads because the IPS stops the file at 90-99% of download percentage (in some cases, not all), The ips is inline in front of firewall, some partner say me that i have to change the mode to promiscuous for the solution of the issue, but i think that if the IPS was designed for work inline, i dont have to change anything and maybe some expert of the forum have the correct answer.  Or this issue have solution with configuration changes.
Sorry by my write english.... I try to find some signature that causes the issue but if i disabled the sensor, the issue occurs. The firewall is not the problem because if i connect a laptop in front of the firewall and behind of IPS the issue occurs too. Well i have now some months trying of find a solution. In the page of Cisco not find some similar.... [:-(
Pd. An example of files that stop when downloads is Apple Itunes... or Microsoft Patch, or Vmware software by example.
Thanks for your response are greatly appreciated.

Thnaks for your help this is the last packets before freeze the download:
The size of the download with problems is random, sometimes ocurrs with small size downloads sometimes ocurrs with large downloads. The download of the example have 47 MB, I think that the traffic is dropped and the tcp conn timeout. Do you see some anomalies in this traffic portion?.

  • CISCO ACS has stopped handing out IPs from IP Pool

I've setup ACS to assign a user an IP address from the IP Pool assigned to the group. Gave the pool a 10.1.16.150 - 10.1.16.250 range. 20 clients worked fine, and now it won't hand out any addresses. I rebooted the ACS and one of the clients that did not get an IP address now gets one, but now others don't.
    Any ideas?

All addresses in an IP pool must be on the same Class C network, so the first three octets of the start and end addresses must be the same. For example, if the start address is 192.168.1.1, the end address must be between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.254.

  • Scheduler stops working

We are running Oracle 10g and are making use of the Oracle Scheduler to execute stored procedures every second. On one server we used the enterprize manager to set up the schedule and it works fine and it work continuosusly with no issues for weeks.
We use the script generated by the EM on the first server to create the same schedule on a different server (This other server does not have the enterprise manager installed). The schedule will work fine when started but when it runs out of work to perform it will halt and not start up again.
Details of the scheduled task: When the task is run it will look for records in a table with a COMPLETION field = N. For each row it finds it will process the record and then mark the COMPLETION field with a P or F for Pass or Fail. It will work until there is a lull in records. After this lull the task does not appear to process new records. Dropping the job and re-creating the job makes it start working again until the next lull.
Below is the generated script that works on the server with EM installed and fails (after a while) on the server without EM. Is there an Oracle Scheduler configuration setting that could cause this behavior?
    Thanks , Jeff M.

  • Backup Schedule Stops after 12 am-Dbacockpit

    Hi Guys,
I am having strange issue on my server.
    System:BW
    OS:Windows 2008
    Database :Sybase ASE 15.7
I have schedule the automatic full backup let say 6.30 pm after business hours  and transaction log every hour which I have scheduled at 6.45 Pm .The full backup and transaction log backup works fine every hour but after 12 am ,the transaction log stops that means the last backup will be till 11.45 pm .I don't find any log information in Dbacockpit as well as in ASE.log.
Any suggestion or any one has gone with same kind of issue.
    Thanks
    Asim

    Hi Asim,
please check and follow the instructions which are provided in SAP Note: "1912165 - SYB: Discontinuous execution of scheduled jobs" if you are running Sybase ASE 15.7.0.110 or higher.
If run an ASE version lower than 15.7.0.110 try the following workaround:
    1. Delete the existing reoccurring job
    2. Schedule a new reoccuring job (e.g. every 1 hour) which starts at the next day 00:00: o'clock
    3. Schedule a new reoccuring job (e.g. every 1 hour) which starts at the current day next full hour and ends current day at 23:59 o'clock.
    Best regards
    Christoph

  • Scheduling Stopped in Discoverer

    Hi,
I have scheduled some reports in discoverer. Scheduling was working perfectly.
But, the report which was running in scheduler has been stopped by killing the session. As the report was taking too much, we had killed the session.
After killing the session, reports which are scheduled are not executing. I have scheduled new report which is also showing status as 'Scheduled' and not running.
    Please advice ...
    Thank..
    Ramesh C. Gnaji

Ramesh, that is indeed an interesting issue.
I would look at the following things.
    1) Check dba_jobs to ensure that your jobs are in fact getting properly setup. It sounds like they are b/c you can still submit the job for scheduling, but its good to check your bases.
    2) If you have pre-existing jobs that are not running utilize the functions to delete from dba_jobs and remove them. Sometimes its best (when feasible) to remove your current items that are not working properly and work up from the ground 1 step at a time.
    3) Check your permissions in the discoverer administration application. Ensure that the user is setup properly to run scheduled workbooks. If you are utilizing a single user's schema (via batchusr.sql) to schedule your workbooks ensure that is in fact how they are getting scheduled. You can look at this under Disco Admin -> Security -> Privleges -> Scheduled Workbook tab. Lookup the user you are scheduling and ensure the option of where to save results is properly specified.
#3 is key b/c based on where you are specifying the target store of data it will try to exec the EUL5 packages for setting up and executing your scheduled item.
    4) Ensure that in your target user(s) that you don't have uncompiled package states for the scheduling piece of discoverer. In 10g R2 (10.1.2) they would be packages such as eul5_batch_disco_admins, eul5_batch_repository, eul5_batch_rep_secure (when using a single schema to schedule/store).
Hopefully these items help you out. This is where I would start my troubleshooting. If you pass all of these criteria then start I would start to take a deeper look into logging/execution of the packages etc.

  • Since upgrading to iOS 5.1.1 docks and car connection stopped working

Since I upgraded my iPhone last night, my iHome dock, Philips dock and BMW car connection are failing.  When connecting the phone to the docks I get a "This accessory not supported" message on the phone and when I hook it up in the car the car display plays music but is stuck on displaying only the name of the first song and doesn't change when moving from one song to another.

Exactly the same.  Upgraded to 5.1.1.  Now docking port on BMW X5 2009 has stopped working completely...flashes back and forth on the screen "audio accessory connected" to the album covers, 1-2 times per second.  Absolutely no music. The car no longer sees the phone.  Bluetooth voicecalls work fine.
Also, "accessory not supported" flashes constantly on my Bose stero dock.  If I repeatedly plug in the phone I can get it to work 1/2 the time.
iphone that can't play music......great.  How was this missed on QA?
    Anyone know Tim Cook's email??

  • Flexpod X2 car charge stopped charging

I used a Flexpod X2 charger/ FM transmitter in my car and it worked fine for two weeks. Then a message popped up on the IPhone 3GS "Warning cannot charge with this device". After this it acted very strangely.
First the device continued to charge, but no longer required the cable to connect the phone to the charger for the FM transmitter to work.
Then the phone stopped charging and again required the cable to play through the radio.
Do I need a new charger? Can I somehow reboot the phone to get it back to work the way it used to?
    Any ideas suggestions?
    Thanks,
    MikeC

I have tried safe mode now, and it still will not take a charge running in safe mode.
I did a factory reset (with my phone restoring app data from google servers) and it did not solve the issue.
I then did a factory reset WITHOUT restoring any data other than my contacts - still did not resolve the issue.
It almost seems like a hardware issue at this point, but the hanging point for that is that if I power it off, it charges, or if plugged in while booting, it charges. So the charging port is clearly working fine.
Almost seems to be a basic OS issue, but the odds of that happening at all, let alone on only a single phone are astronomically slim.
    Any other ideas?

  • Car Charger stops playback

I am using a Belkin car charger with my iPod Touch 2G 8 GB (purchased this past summer). When I attach it, anything playing immediately stops and I return to the song-listing or album listing screen. I can't get it to play no matter what I do.
Any ideas why or how to fix this problem?
Is there any more information you need to help?

yup that was it.. The bumper has a little plastic piece that stooped the charger from fully seating... So I had to perform surgery on my $29.00 Apple bumper so the accessory that are made for it fit.. Nice...
