Cure for .png text

This is my fix for the .png text issue.
The theory…in short is this: To remove all the references of Arial in the index.xml file within the iWebs Domain file.
NOTE: My site was using the White template & I wanted to change the from Arial to Trebuchet.
What you'll need:
Stuffit Expander:

Make sure iWeb is closed.
I first disabled the Arial 2.90 via Font Book showing the Info (Apple I) to view the version number, all the 2.90 versions were in my home… /Users/username/Library/Fonts/Arial & the 2.60 in the /Library/Fonts/Arial.
At this point I made a note of all the "PostScript name" for the Arial Family ie. ArialMT, Arial-ItalicMT, Arial-BoldMT, and Arial-BoldItalicMT.
Then I made a note of all the "PostScript name" for the Trebuchet Family ie.
TrebuchetMS, TrebuchetMS-Italic, TrebuchetMS-Bold, Trebuchet-BoldItalic.
Now locate the "Domain" file /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain
control click on the file and go to "Show Package Contents", locate "index.xml.gz"
and make a copy to a separate folder on your desktop for safe keeping.
Double click the original to uncompress (using Stuffit Expander).
Open the resulting index.xml file in TextEdit or TextWrangler and do a find for the word Arial
(NOTE: Some of you may see that the result returns "ArialMS" not "ArialMT" I haven't tried this myself but combining the first step of disabling Arial version 2.90 & then changing the MS to MT may partly solve the problem.)
I then started replacing all the instances of "ArialMS" (including the"") and the variants - then I saved the file, compressed the file using NutCase Gzip removed the uncompressed version closed the window and opened up iWeb.
In the site I was working all the fonts including the the navigation buttons were now Trebuchet and selectable text.
One last NOTE: It's been said before on this forum but check that your fonts opacity is set to 100% with no shadow.
I've tried all the other combinations and had no luck but this worked a treat.

Changing font types and some of the other things outlined here didn't help me, HOWEVER, I've uncovered some very random bug. If your text block contains a text link that iWeb has generated on its own, then the block of text will appear as a .png; if the block of text has links in it that you have created manually, the text will appear as HTML text (at least for me). In other words, if I create a new text block and type: "my favorite site is http://google.com" as soon as I tab or click off the text field, iWeb will make http://google.com a link, and subsequently will make the text block a png. However, if I type, "Visit my favorite site here" and I make "here" a link manually using the inspector, the text block will appear as HTML text. This works 100% of the time for me for NEW text blocks. However, you'd think that re-doing URLs manually within problematic text blocks would fix the problem -- it doesn't, at least not for me. So for old text blocks, I'm still lost.

Animating png text in After effects

I have a logo from a company that I wanted to animate to appear as if the script is being written. It is a .psd file that I imported just the layer that contains the letters I want to animate. I tried to used stroke and a pen tool to attempt to create a path that I want the text to me written in, but I think I am doing something wrong. I admit not being too familiar with how to do this in After Effects, however I am on a deadline with the customer and need some guidance. Can someone help? Here is the .png file I created from the .psd.

You are going to run into problems with the intersecting lines that need to be addressed by splitting the layer when the stroke crosses the intersections. The technique is relatively simple. The more complex your text and the more overlapping lines you have the more time consuming it is.
First add your text layer to the timeline (by the way the PNG you supplied is way too big. You could crop it so it was just exactly the size of the text), then add a Red solid to the comp and set the blend mode to Screen. You will be able to see the text through the solid. Now with the pen tool carefully trace a mask path over the text layer. Once the trace is complete add stroke to the solid layer and adjust the width of the stroke so that it is wide enough to cover all of the text. Animate the in or out point so that the stroke traces over the text, then set the stroke to On Transparent. Now use the stroke layer as a track matte for the text layer. As the stroke reveals the text there will be places where it crosses the lines of the text and spoils the effect. At each crossing point you need to add a mask to cover the intersections. I do this while scrubbing through the timeline and make my masks just big enough to cover the spoiled intersections. You set the masks to subtract or check the invert box. When you're done you'll have a bunch of holes in your text layer. Here's how you fix that.
Scrub through the timeline until the stroke comes to the first mask. Select both the track matte and the text layer and press Ctrl/Cmnd + Shift + D to split the layer. Move forward one frame and delete the mask that is causing the hole. Move forward until the stroke appears on the other side of the hole, split the layer and delete the mask causing the hole. Repeat until you have all of the problems solved.
Here's a start on the project using your supplied PNG file. I did the first few crossings for you so you can see how it's done. I only drew a few of the masks on the text. You'll have to do the rest. One more thing, You'll see an extra path on the Track Matte layer that is not covering anything. This stroke is there to give the pen time to move from the first mask over the S to the next letters. Adjusting the length of this stroke is an easier way to fine tune the timing than animating the end point of the stroke. Enjoy.

One more note, I probably would have just used a text layer in AE for this job. There's nothing special about the PNG file that couldn't have been done more efficiently with a text layer.

I'm trying to create a DTP for 0INDUSTRY (texts), but when I assign the DataSource (0INDUSTRY_TEXT), it shows me the next error message: "Target 0industry (type IOBJ) is not active".
Of course I've checked 0industry and it is already active!
I have the same issue with several characteristics.

Try comin out of rsa1 transaction and then going back in...else login and logoff. Its generally happens that the changes dont get reflected and it then shows that error.

Can you no longer have a background color for the text box in the new version of hp photo creations

just updated to the new version of HP Photo Creations, used to be able to have a colored background for the text box - is that no longer possible in this new (not better) version????!!!!! Uuuuuuuuuugh

Thanks for asking. We're working on bringing back that feature. In the meantime, here's another way to add text backgrounds: Add a placeable graphic and then click the Arrange button to send it to the back, behind the text.
That approach also gives you more interesting shapes. The new alignment guides make it a snap to align a graphic with a text box. In the example below (it may take a day for the image to show up here), I also used the new Premium Editing Features to change the color of the graphic.
P.S. — Applying a thick border to an empty text box (also using the Premium Editing Features) is another way to create a background shape. That has the advantage of letting you pick any color for the box. You'll also find several new text styles at the bottom of the new text menu.

How do I make phone vibrate longer for a text message?

I have an iphone 4s and I am wondering how I can set the vibrate longer for a text message. I have it turned on. I have set the vibrate to "Rapid".
I vibrates long for a phone call, but I want it to vibrate longer than a short burst, which is repeated later, on a text message.
Can anyone help?

How to make single column scrollable in ALV report (for long Text)

I dont think there is any standard report for the same. You can however go for an ABAP development :
After entering the item text , save the PO , then go to the PO in display mode and double click on that Text. A new screen will open up for PO text. There in Header Menu select : Goto-> Header . There you will find the text ID and the Text Object which you can pass to tables STXH and STXL and get the texts.

I have a Item UIDRef but facing a problem for getting data as set in "text on path option" dailog box for each "text on path" item.
What I did:
- Getting the pointer "IMainItemTOPData" using item UIDRef as
InterfacePtr<IMainItemTOPData> mainItemTOPData(shapesUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());
- This interface has the method GetTOPOptionData () which return ITOPOptionsData pointer
- But SDK don't have "ITOPOptionsData" class implementation.
Second Approch:
- Used "ITextOnPathSelectionSuite" and getting the correct result for Desktop plugin.But I want the correct result in server plugin also.
Anyone who has an idea how to get this using UIDRef, please let me know.

1. Yes, you can go right now and use a GSM SIM card in your Verizon iPhone 5. Note that you will have a different phone number when you do this.
You are not using a SIM card for CDMA in the US. The SIM card in the device is used for LTE in the US.
CDMA and GSM are different types of cellular technology.

I would also like this issue addressed.
I am using a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and when it is connected to my iPhone 4, email and text sounds are not audible through the phone. The phone just vibrates when a new text or email is received.
I don't really care if it plays through the headset, but it should at least play through the phone. I tested the headset from a BlackBerry and the alerts play fine.

Hi,
As you may remember there used to be a Messages pane to the Preferences where the Font and colour of the Balloons or background and the Font text colour could be changed.
And there was a Format Menu for character, word and Sentence changes in the current IM or iMessage.
Those have gone in Yosemite's version of Messages (Despite it retaining the designation of Messages 8 the same as Mavericks' version).
All that can be done now is set the size of the font and this has been moved to the General Section of the Preferences.
The Yosemite version has also been fixed to using the Balloons style of send and receiving any type of messages as well.
Changing the Font would involved editing the Balloon.transcript file.

I just updated my iPhone and would like to change the color of the bubble for the text reply. Mine is now GRAY and it is much more difficult to read. The outgoing text bubble is still blue. Can I do this?

Yes. Well, sort of: instead of a "path", set the pen tool to "shape" in the tool properties. Then set the fill colour to transparent, and the stroke colour to the colour you want. You can also set the stroke width.
Not perfect, but at least you can see the path more clearly - the anchor points and handles still remain the default colour. Open the path panel, and right-mouse click the path shape to create a selection based on that shape. The Paths panel menu also allows you to create work paths based on that shape.
Unfortunately when you try to move the handles the black thin outline appears again until you release the mouse button.
This is one of several things that works better in Photoline: in Photoline, once the path is set to a specific colour, editing the path uses the actual colour and stroke width. which is extremely handy for creating path based selection with awkward background colours and/or a high resolution screen. In Photoline the handles and bezier points are also much, much larger, which makes it rather simpler to work with as well - especially on a higher resolution screen. And when selected the handles and points are a clear red with a black outline - again easier to spot and identify. I just works better, in my opinion.
