Currency Translation with dynamic exchange rates

Hi Gurus,
i want to know if its possible to translate currencies
with dynamic exchange rates. If so how ?
Example :
By selecting values from February to April the exchange
rates should be :
exRate Feb + exRate Mar + exRate Apr / 3
corresponding exchange rates for every month / number of month.
Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks alot in advance.
Ali

Hi Deepu,
could you explain in more detail how to do it. The paper
is not really enough for me

  • Currency Translation with dynamic scaling

    Hi Experts,
If you have experienced such a requirement,
    pls share what you leant.
As you know, the scaling option is fixed for
    each key figure.
Under such situation, if you changed currency
using currency translation, you will feel
this scaling is not suitable for this currency.
    For example,
    Default -> 1,500,000 JPY
    Scaled by 10,000 > 150 JPY with scale 10,000
If translate JPY to EUR, by rate of "1 EUR = 150 JPY".
(Scaled is fixed by key figure setting.)
    Default -> 10,000 EUR
    Scaled by 10000 > 1 EUR with scale 10,000
But this is not suitable for the EUR user, like German people.
So we want to change scale dynamically on the currency.
Do you have any ideas on this ?
    Best regards,
    Manabu from Japan

You can do VBA code to check currency and adjust the values (not exactly scaling factor ).
If you are using web template based reports, there might be more options there, take a look <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/61/2a813b731fd60ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here</a> for scaling factor adjustment in reports.

  • Currency translation with user defined exchange rates in a BEx report

    Hi guys,
our business department requests a new functionality in our BW system. They want to simulate a currency translation in a BEX report. But this currency translation should be so flexible, that the user can change the exchange rates directly in the report.
For example: The report should show a list of all our local company revenues. In the first column the plan revenues will be shown in the local currency (each company has its own local currency: USA->USD; Japan->YPN, Great Britain->GBP and so on). This revenues comes from a normal infoprovider, loaded via flat-file.
In the second column the user should be able to enter or change a plan currency rate. The entered exchange rates should be stored in BW for a next use. They won't maintain the rates directly in TCURR, because this rates are only for simulation use !
In the third column the translated Revenues in Euro currency has to be shown under the use of the exchange rates from the second column.
I investigated a lot of time in the SAP help and here in the SDN, but I didn't find any solution to realize this. Is there generally a possibility to make a currency translation with exchange rates out of the TCURR? Would it be an option to use the integrated planning function of BW? Or is this requirement to far away for an simple implementation in SAP BI ?
I hope, someone of you has also fixed a similar problem or has a good inspiration.
    Thank you in advance.
    Thomas

    thanks for the prompt reply!
Unfortunately, exchange rates are not a part of my cube. They are held in different tables, and referenced depending on what kind of exchange rates I need to be looking at (average rates, daily, planning etc.). The only way for me, at the moment, to know which rates have been used is to go to query global view, and look at the type of conversion, and then try to figure things out. Plus there can be a different key date used in the query, which makes things more complicated.
    Anyway, it was worth asking
    Thanks again.

  • BPS Currency Translation with rate from previous year

    Dear All,
I am trying to use the BPS currency translation function. However, I would like to use an exchange rate from the previous fiscal year, in order to reveal currency effects.
I would appreciate any help, hopefully regarding ways to mend the standard function. I am afraid a workaround with the FM CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY would end up in a giant crutch.
    Thank you in advance,
    Lars Biederstedt

Thank you for your answer, Marc.
I would definitely like to know more about option 1.
Option 2, a fixed data, would not work, because data had to be translated monthly, with the exchange rate from exactly one year ago. I was really surprised, that you could not enter a variable as a time reference and use offsets, like you can in queries.
I ended up using an Exit-Function with the function module convert_to_foreign_currency. Unfortunately you cannot change characteristic values with Exit-Function, so I have to repost after every currency translation.
    Anyway, it works.
    Best regards,
    Lars

  • Currency Translation with different time dependencies

    Hello,
I'd like to use different currency translations within my query.
Values of the time period 01.2006-07.2006 should be converted
    1. with the exchange rates 01.2006-07.2006 (done)
    2. with the current exchange rate 01.2007-07.2007
The problem is that I don't know how I can manage the second step. It would be easy if I had one period per column but I need  to show several months in 1 column....
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Best regards,
    Thomas Markus

is table TCURR maintained in R/3 with the exchange rates you want and the proper date ranges?
Then, is that table imported in BW?
If you answered yes to both, I'm not too sure what the issue is, can yopu clarify?

  • COPA Document with different exchange rate

    Hi
We have created a Sales Order in 2007.
Now in 2008 we have raised credit request for this order. The accounting doc generated correctly and currency translated as per the exchange rate maintained in the table as on today.
But the copa document generated with the exchange rate of 2007.
Can you please let us know is it the correcy way of behaviour or the COPA doc also should generate with current date exchange rate.
    Thanks and Regards
    RS

    Hi Ram
    Thanks for your reply.
    This is my scenario.
The company code currency is THB.
The second local cuurency is USD.
    The Operating currency is USD.
    Reporting Currency is USD.
We have created a Sales order in December 2007 for currency THB. The billing document and accounting document also generated in the same year. The exchange rates are picked correctly as per the exchange rate table.
The exchange rate is @42. The COPA document also created with exchange rate @42.
Now in the month of January a credit note created against the order. The accounting doc generated @32 as per the exchange rate tables. But the COPA document generated with exchange rate @42.
This is happening only for the credit notes.
Can you please let us know is this standard behaviour or something wrong with customization.
    Best Regards

  • Depreciation run to be updated with Historical Exchange Rate in NonLdg Ldgr

    Hi All,
Our Company code is using parallel currencies 1LC is CAD, 2nd LC is USD & 3rd LC is GBP. (In T.Code: OB22)
When we look at the values for local currency 3 (GBP) in ledger 0L, all the entries have been translated from CAD to GBP at the same rate each month, which should be the proper treatment.  In fact the translation to GBP is occurring at the historical rate for the fixed assets, which is correct.
However when we look at the values for local currency 3 in the parallel ledger (N1) we can see that the same CAD values have different LC3 values each month.  The rate being used to translate the depreciation expense changes each month and looks like it is the current rate in place at the time depreciation was run.
We want the depreciation amounts for LC3 that are posted each month to be translated using the historical rate in both the leading (0L) andparallel (N1) ledgers.  Our issue is how do we make the change. (Depreciation Run to update Non Leading Ledger N1 with historical exchnge rates as in Leading Ledger 0L.
Unable to understand the system behaviour. The depreciation posting run in the NON Leading ledger should happen with Historical Exchange Rate.
    Thanks in Advance

Is there a way to turn off the summary posting that occurs in AFAB, so that your substitution idea could work?
I do not know if there is a setting that causes summarization when posting AFAB, for multiple assets having the same accounting parameters.  Is it optional in other words?

  • In an accounting entry vat line should post with different exchange rate how to do that.

In specific jurisdictions invoices in foreign currency should also show
exchange rate and translated VAT amount in local currency. The required
exchange rate may change by country, although often the central bank
rate is required to post the VAT amount. and  BASE AMT to be posted in  'M'(MOR) rate
So base amount and vat amount will be converted with 2 different
    exchange rate types respectively.
    below accounting entry should generate.
                                                GBP        EUR
    DR CUst                              100          111.11          0.9 MOR

  • Currency Translation with Variables

My currency translation is not working and I can't figure out why. Here's what I've done:
    1. Created a variable on 0CURRENCY, processing by user entry.
    2. Created a currency conversion type. Exchange rate type 1001. Source currency from data record. Target currency from variable (defined in step 1). Current date.
    3. Created a query in the BEx. Set my key figure to use the currency conversion key defined in step 2. The target currency is set to the variable created in step 1.
When I run the query it asks me to enter my currency. However, it does not do a conversion on the key figure. i still have some rows showing different currencies.
Can anybody see if I have done something incorrectly, or suggest how I can get this to work.
    Cheers

Have you transferred the exchange rates from R/3?
RSA1 -> source systems -> rightclick on system -> "transfer global settings" -> check currencies and update

  • Purchase transaction with different exchange rate in GRPO and A/P Invoice

Hi, can someone help me with this situation.
My Local Currency is USD with INDIRECT exchange rate posting.
    I'm using perpetual inventory method.
I recorded GRPO in FC (IDR) when the exchange rate is 10.000/usd.
    The GRPO created this JE:
    Debit :Inventory  FC=100.000 ; LC=10
    Credit :Unbilled Payable  FC=100.000 ;  LC=10
When I record A/P Invoice, the exchange rate is 11.000/usd.
The A/P Invoice created this JE:
    Debit : Unbilled Payable   FC= 110.011 ; ; LC= 10
    Debit : Inventory              FC=  -10.011 ; ; LC=  -0,91
    Credit:     Vendor             FC= 100.000 ; ; LC=    9,09
    Is this JE correct?
I have no objection about the Inventory and vendor balance.
But i'm confused with the unbilled payable balance. Yes, it have 0 balance in LC. But it still have balace in FC.
Should i ignore the FC balance?
    Thanks for the support....

    Arin,
If you have a development company test this.....
    use:
    Financials>Exchange Rate Differences
Check Business Partner and uncheck G/L Accounts
    Enter Code from To
    enter Excecution Date
Make sure you have all your Exch Accounts set
    and Execute
Have a look at the outcome, it may help, it would be better then having a balance in FC me thinks!
    Kind Regards,

  • Convert a sales value to the reference currency with the exchange rate of a specific date

    Hi Friends,
I Have 2 Dimensions: Time and Currency
I also have to fact tables, exchange rate and sales
Both fact tables have references to Time and Currency Dimension.
The user want to select using excel the sales in the local currency and the correspondent conversion in the reference currency (the reference currency is fixed) in the selected date.
To obtain the desired exchange date I need a date and a currency. The user select in excel a specific date but the currency must be the current currency in the sales table. I achived something like this in the query editor:
    with
MEMBER [Measures].[Current Rate To Euro] AS (
    ([ISO Currencies].[ISO Curr Code].CurrentMember, [Time].[Date Id].CurrentMember, [Measures].[Exchange Rate To Euro]))
MEMBER [Measures].[Net Sales Euro] AS (
[Measures].[OOH Net Sales Dom Snapshot]/[Measures].[Current Rate To Euro]
    SET NE_measures as {[measures].[Net Sales Value Domestic], [Measures].[Exchange Rate To Euro]}
    member m_NonEmptyCheck as
    Generate
    NE_measures
    ,{Iif([Measures].CurrentMember, [Measures].CurrentMember, NULL)}
    ).Count = NE_measures.Count
    ,NON_EMPTY_BEHAVIOR =
    {[measures].[Net Sales Value Domestic], [Measures].[Exchange Rate To Euro]}
select {[Measures].[Net Sales Euro], [Measures].[OOH Net Sales Dom Snapshot],[Measures].[Current Rate To Euro]} on 0,
    Filter(
    {[ISO Currencies].[ISO Curr Code].[ISO Curr Code]}*{[Time].[Date Id].&[2581]*[Customers].[PDU Description].[PDU Description]}
    ,m_NonEmptyCheck
    ) on 1
    from [DM ISR DEV];
But I don't know how to translate the last select in a calculated measures in order to let the customer only to select this measures in the values area and the time in the filters.
    Any comment would be appreciated
    Kind Regards

Was not so difficult as I thought, however, it took me several hours to understand how could it work:
    with
MEMBER [Measures].[Current Rate To Euro] AS (
    ([ISO Currencies].[ISO Curr Code].CurrentMember,[Time].[Date Id].CurrentMember, [Measures].[Exchange Rate To Euro]))
MEMBER [Measures].[Net Sales Euro] AS (
SUM([ISO Currencies].[ISO Curr Code].[ISO Curr Code],([Measures].[OOH Net Sales Dom Snapshot]/[Measures].[Current Rate To Euro]))
select {[Measures].[Net Sales Euro], [Measures].[OOH Net Sales Dom Snapshot],[Measures].[Current Rate To Euro]} on 0,
non empty {[Time].[Date Id].&[2580]} -- specific datatime, in my db is the 23 Jan. 2014
    *{[Customers].[PDU Description].[PDU Description]} on 1 -- An attribute of the customer hier.
    from [DM ISR DEV]
I think all of my confusions come from my Sql background. A calculated member is a member that is resolved by calculating an MDX expression to return a value, not a set, for this reason the key to solve my problem was the SUM function.

  • Sales order takes Translation date for exchange rate calculation

    Hi
I am creating the debit memo request via DP91 with reference to the contract. In the debit memo request pricing date has been set as current date but transaltion date has set the contract transaltion date.  Debit Memo request document currency is EURO, local currency is GBP and condtion currency is CHF.
In this scinerio in order exchange rate has been calculated against the transation date insted of pricing date.
Can you please advise why the system behaving like this.
    Thanks & regards,
    Siva.

    Mike,
I assumed your question is for an additional local currency for a company code (this can be changed in OB22).  For the first local currency, the translation date type in OB22 is always set to 3 (Translation Date) and cannot be changed (hence, greyed out).  Following that, in accounting entry transactions (for example FB01), you will see a field (Translation Date) where you can specify a date for which you want the system to fetch exch. rate from the exch. rate table.  In your situation, you will have to enter 'document date' there.
PS: The reply above by Ravi applies only to tax items' translation, not for all items.  He is basically talking about the indicator that you see in OBY6.

  • Currency Translation: Query use different Rates based on country/Currency

    Hi Friends,
There is a requirement from our client to apply two different Exchange Rates on the rows of a single query (based on the Inflationary status of countries/Currencies).
For regular set of countries(or Local currencies), we want normal P&L Rate to be applied on local curency.
But at the same time if it is a High Inflationary country (or currency), the Global Currency should be displayed as it is without any translation.
Both these effects should happen and appear on the same Key figure column.
    How can we achieve this?
Looking forward to have your inputs. Thanks in Anticipation!

    Hi Vikram,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
It seems as if this suggestion could work only when we want to excute for a given country code. In Reality the query will be executed for all countries in one go and we want the query result rows follow different logic for Different LEs or Currency.
    Any further Ideas Pls. Thanks!

  • MIGO with PO exchange rate

    Hi,
Is there any solution that GR also should be valuated at the exchange rate given as per po.
    thanks
    prasad

While Creating po in ME21N  / ME22N Purchase order change Set the Exchange Rate Ficed Indicator in Po header Details and save.
Then The exhcange rate is Fixed till Invoice Verification.
    Please go thru the words:
Determines that the exchange rate used for currency translation purposes calculated or entered in the purchasing document is fixed.
    Use :
If you fix the exchange rate, the purchase order currency and the exchange rate cannot be changed during invoice verification.
