Current wait events in oracle database
Hi guys need your help
I got a dataabse ruuning very slow and I need to find out the current wait events in the oracle database and can I find out what reason each session is waiting for.
Use @wait.sql script to find out the wait events :
select sid, event, seconds_in_wait secs_wait, state,p1,p2,p3,wait_time,p1text,p2text,p3text
from v$session_wait
where sid in
+(select a.sid from v$session a, v$process b where a.paddr = b.addr+
and a.status = 'ACTIVE' and a.username is not null)
order by 1

Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2
Hi
I am upgrading oracle 10G to 11GR2 in AIX 5.3 Environment with SAP ECC6 , I have just just installled Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 according to the "Database Upgrade Guide -Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". After database software installation , in upgrade manual in section 3.4.4 it says, you need to install current patch set for oracle database 11g R2 and referencing a SAP note 1431799.
I have just read note 1431799 which says Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2 is not generally available for SAP customers until December 2010, also I donu2019t find the note 1522330 as mentioned in 1431799.
Please let me know how I can get current patch set to apply with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (Is it in SAP service market place?)
I also want to upgrade my installation to oracle 11.2.0.2, please let me know where I get the patch set to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2,
or
I have to live with 11.2.0.1.0 and apply SAP Bundle Patch ( SBP)Abu Al MAmun,
I understand from your posts that you recently upgraded to 11.2.0.2.
I am having the same difficulty, of finding the current patch set for 11.2. Could you please let me know how you worked around it?
Thanks,
Siri
Hello Everyone,
I did read the post on to how you have to install the current patch set for 11.2.
But honestly, it pretty much flew over my head.
I am trying to upgrade our SAP AIX 64 bit test system from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.
And so far I have downloaded all the required sw for the upgrade, except for the current patch set 11.2.
This is what I have right now:
1) Oracle 11.2 AIX 64 bit upgrade sw - 51038805_part 1 to 51038805_part 7 and 51039800.
2) Database Patches -->Oracle 11.2.0.2 -->
All they have here is
a. Database RDMBS - SAP_112020_201012_AIX.zip and b. SAP_112020_201101_AIX.zip
b. OPatch - OPatch_11201_Generic_v3.zip and mopatch-2_1_6.zip
c. Database Vault - DV - >Generic - p9656644_112020_Generic.zip
If I am not wrong, the Database RDBMS files are nothing but the SAP Bundle Patches that have to be installed after installing the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2 using MOPatch.
But I did not find the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2.
Could someone please explain the process to me in detail? This being my first time , I am finding it a bit hard to catch up with some of the stuff.
Thank You!

How to view current connections to an Oracle database?
Howdy all.
Can/Will anybody tell me how to view the current connections to an Oracle database? I would like to be able to see what connections are happening, what username the connection is under, what the hostname is (the machine the connection is coming from), and also what SQL or PL/SQL is currenlty being executed (if any).

Streams AQ wait event on Oracle 10g
Hello,
I have ECC 6.0 on W2k3 with Oracle. I have some wait event about Streams AQ :
Streams AQ: waiting for messages in the queue
Streams AQ: qmn slave idle wait
Streams AQ: qmn coordinator waiting for slave to start
What does it mean ? What can I do to fix that?
From what I read, it's seems to have something to do with parameter : aq_tm_processes
What this parameter whould be set to? It seems to be set to O now.
Thank you for any help,
NicholasHi,
What is the Patch Level of Oracle 10g which is in use ?
Please refer Oracle Meta link 428441.1 to get more information. It will tell you the reason and the possible alternatives to deal with it. You can refer SAP Note 758563 to get Oracle Meta link access.
Unless you use Oracle Streams Advanced Queuing , there's no need to set this parameter.
If AQ_TM_PROCESSES is not specified or is set to 0, then the queue monitor is not created.
In 10gR2 parameter AQ_TM_PROCESSES shouldn't be set explicitly in pfile/spfile, because Oracle autotunes it.
Also refer the [this link|SRM Alert Management does not determine recipient runtime?; to get more info.

How to create new or check current business event in Oracle INV/PO?
Hi Gurus,
How can i define/create new business event related to items or suppliers?
I know we need to login to WF admin responsibility. But i just wanted to where we can able to create event from frontend and that too from inventory or purchasing responsibilities.
I have collected five from oracle.apps.inv.item realted to items and four related to suppliers.
Could you please help me in how to create Business events from frontend and that to from oracle inventory.. and even i would like to here some thing on trading partners setups also.
I'm new to this Business events, hence required your help on high priority.else send me an document with existed business events.
Awaiting on your response.
Regards,
AjayNo, in this case, I'm using standard JSP with ADF and struts validator.
If I don't use struts validator and there are errors (such as putting a string into a number which produces a jbo-25009), the list value will be retained.
When using the validator, it appears that it is NOT retained.
I've written some code to attempt to set the list element back, which "looks like" it's working right now.
There's still a problem with the second scenario:
1. user clicks checkbox and hits [submit]
2. get's error - you have to enter 5 address items
3. User wants to backout, so he unchecks the box and resubmits
4. The box redisplays as "checked"
SO, at that point, I thought... can't I use YOUR EXAMPLE on how to handle a checkbox.
I place some code in the reset method of the form to perform this:
map.put("AddressChangeFlag", (String) "" );
(that is, I've detected via the request that this flag is null), so I'm trying to make sure it retains it!
I do that and it runs into a problem during the processUpdateModel aT:
BindingContainerValidationForm updateForm= (BindingContainerValidationForm) actionContext.getActionForm();
//Get the binding for our particular column JUCtrlAttrsBinding checkBoxBinding = (JUCtrlAttrsBinding)updateForm.get("AddressChangeFlag");
call, with an error:
JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.ClassCastException, msg=java.lang.String
java.lang.String
The value for updateForm.get("AddressChangeFlag") is "", which I'm assuming means the form field is no longer in the request object??
I'm lost at this point, and have been working on it for more than 1 day.
Thanks for responding though, and I await feedback ;) -
How Performance can be improved at Oracle Database level
Hi Everyone,
Need a suggestion ......
I m managing SAP Landscape of Retail Sector Client.
where SAP ERP PRD database size is : 2 TB.
at SAP Application Layer .... we have setup five application system to distribute load because around 1200 users work concurrently.
Out of these 1200 Users around 300 Users keeps on fetching
reports from database which worsen database performance.
We have changed parameters of Database to improve performance.
What we have thought to setup replica of PRD system .
On which Only Report Users will execute reports.
& that System will work as Disaster Recovery Site of PRD System.
In process of that We have restored the PRD Backup on another System. But How can we replicate daily changes of PRD System on Restored System.
One which we have thought by applying offline archive files.
daily . But somebody has told us that we can not apply
offline archive files of PRD System to restored system
because that Restored database is in Open stage & being
used.
(ii) Secondly, Incremental Backup which is very time-consuming action.
Please suggest , If you have an idea & I want to know How
offline archive log file application on DR Site .
Thanks in advance !!!

Hmm.. might happen.

Oh - which ones? Why? Who told you to?
> What we have thought to setup replica of PRD system .

This setup does not work for SAP environments. To get reports out of a system with SAP the database must be open to writes.
> In process of that We have restored the PRD Backup on another System. But How can we replicate daily changes of PRD System on Restored System.
Such thing would be done via a Standby-DB.
> One which we have thought by applying offline archive files.

That person told you the truth.
> (ii) Secondly, Incremental Backup which is very time-consuming action.
Depends on your reference. Compared to what is it very time-consuming?
Compared with a full DB-Backup this is likely to be the less time-consuming option.
> Please suggest , If you have an idea & I want to know How
> offline archive log file application on DR Site .
For a how-to in Standby-Setup you may want to have a look into the Oracle documentation like here [Introduction to Oracle Data Guard |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/concepts.htm#SBYDB00010]
> Thanks in advance !!!
You're welcome !!!
> Points will be rewarded !!!
Oh - nice !!!!!!!!!!
Now get a bit earnest as well:
From what you described it sounds like you're setup is a bit undersized.
If your report users use BI for their reports, than it may pay off to setup a seperate BI system that gets it's data from the ERP system automatically and not whenever a user starts a report.
Another option may be to consider using a RAC cluster - but this would be a very expensive option.
In any case the important first step has to be to find out, what the real cause for the performance degration is.
Perhabs the I/O Subsystem is the problem, perhabs the network. Perhabs another CPU would do wonder.
You'll never know - before you analyse this in depth.

Oracle Database 10g Enterprise version supported on Win 2003/Win 2008?
Hi,
The Current version of SAP we are using is SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 version (operating system- WINDOW NT )and the database is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 u2013 Prod
Please help to advice me:
Can currently running version of oracle database be supported on Win 2003/Win 2008?
Can SAP application support the existing oracle database server upgrade to Windows 2003/Win 2008?
Is it possible to have Oracle database separated to other server on SAP DEV and SAP QA?
Many thanks in advance.Hi,

Hi,
I need to check the current size of my Oracle database, and the remaining storage space.
Does anyone know if I could do that from my SQL prompt? If yes, how would I do that?
thanks,
MattyHi,
In resume, you can use these query's below:
select sum(bytes) as total_size from dba_data_files;
select sum(bytes) as free_size from dba_free_space;
select sum(bytes) as used_size from dba_segments;Cheers -

Kuassi MensahI suppose that is nice.
It would be even nicer if the drivers actually conformed to JDBC so that one could for example reliably use blobs in a J2EE server with CMP. -
What is ges reusing os pid wait event
What is wait event "ges reusing os pid". In our RAC environment it is one of the top wait events. How to minimze it.
This is a wait event in Oracle 10g for Global Enqueue Services (ges) waiting on an operating system process id (os pid).
How to resolve this issue? I checked the bug list on Metalink and there is a patch set for the issue that may help.
Question: what version and patch release are you running for Oracle RAC?
Also, you probably want to tune your public network and private interconnects between the nodes in your Oracle RAC cluster.

Ben Prusinski

Hi: I'm analyzing this STATSPACK report: it is "volume test" on our UAT server, so most input is from 'bind variables'. Our shared pool is well utilized in oracle. Oracle redo logs is not appropriately configured on this server, as in 'Top 5 wait events' there are 2 for redos.
I need to know what else information can be dig-out from 'foreground wait events' & 'background wait events', and what can assist us to better understanding, in combination of 'Top 5 wait event's, that how the server/test went? it could be overwelming No. of wait events, so appreciate any helpful diagnostic or analysis. thank you very much!Hi: just know it now: it is a large amount of 'concurrent transaction' designed in this "Volume Test" - to simulate large incoming transaction volme, so I guess wait in eq:TX - row is expected.
The fact: (1) redo logs at uat server is known to not well-tune for configurations (2) volume test slow 5%, however data amount in its test is kept the same by each time import production data, by the team. So why it slowed 5% this year?

RE: Looking for some database statistics and wait event statistics
Hi:
We are using Oracle 10g RAC on Sun Solaris 5.9.
1) In GV$SYSSTAT, we cannot find the following database statistics:
'global cache converts',
'global cache convert time',
'global cache gets',
'global cache get time',
'global cache convert timeouts',
'global cache defers'
2) In GV$SYSTEM_EVENT, we cannot find the following wait event:
'buffer busy global CR'
For 1) and 2), could you please tell us where to retrieve the above information,
or suggest a reasonable alternative?
Have these stats been removed in Oracle 10g?
Have they been renamed? To what?
3) We currently compute the number of additional redo logs that can be accommodated in the free space of the archive directory using the formula:
(arhive directory free space / redo log file size)
However, using ASM we find that the free space for a ASM diskgroup is being reported as zero in the table v$asm_diskgroup if the diskgroup is mounted manually. How would one go about retrieving the free space for a logical volume?
ThanksHi:
