  • Curve 9300 won't charge properly

I've had my Blackberry Curve 9300 for about 7 months now & I've been experiencing this problem for the past 3 months. For some reason my Blackberry "chooses" the chargers that can charge it, i.e. If I use my wall charger, it randomly works, If I use my Boss' Car Charger, it works like any normal charger, I tried using my friend's wall charger, same problem as mine, then I tried another friend's Car Charger, this time it didn't work.
I haven't installed any 3rd party apps apart from the usual package like facebook & bbm so I'm guessing the problem is elsewhere.
The main problem is the "randomness" of my wall charger; sometimes it takes me a few minutes of pluging the charger to the usb port over & over again till the lightning sign shows that it's charging, but most of the time it takes me as much as 4hrs to get that sign to pop up, in which by that time my BB's already dead. The clock appearing at the time you plug the charger in has no effect as I press the return button every time after the clock appears, & the charging sign still isn't there. It's annoying because everytime the battery goes red are the time when I need it the most, like when I need to meet someone outside the office. I don't want to go through the inconvenience of purchasing a new phone of replacing this one as I have had lots of notes & messages that I want to keep but since there's a USB port problem, I can't even connect my BB to my laptop as it says it can't recognise the USB connection. I've tried with multiple cables as well & none can be recognised.
    Can someone please help?

The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.
See if that resolves the problem.

  • Blackberry Curve 9300 won't boot up

So I have a BB Curve 9300, and yesterday it was very slow, timer icon kept popping up etc. This in itself is a fairly common occurence on my phone, as it's 3 and a half years old and well used. Anyway, as per usual when this happens, I did a battery pull and left it to reboot. Anyway, about 5 minutes after I put the battery back in, I noticed that the "loading bar" on the boot-up screen was  roughly two thirds full. Brilliant progress, I thought, and left it to carry on. I checked again 5 minutes later, and the screen hadn't changed, and it still hasn't. I've battery-pulled it several more times, each time getting to the same stage before freezing. I've tried getting it to work whilst charging, without charging etc, and nothing works.
If someone could offer me a solution that doesn't involve sending it away (I'm a teenager who really doesn't like being away from my phone), I'd be hugely grateful

    Hi marmite25
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
Have you recently installed any application before this Problem started ? Think carefully any new application , theme , wallpaper or any recent app update !
If you have then try to boot your device on Safe Mode , On Safe Mode delete any application which you think might be responsible for this issue , from Options > Device > Application Manegement > locate and delete any newly installed 3rd party application , it might help in resolving your issue :
KB17877 : How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
KB10040  :How to view or remove installed application on a blackberry smartphone
If above method fails or you're unable to boot your device on safe mode then only way out is to reload your device OS. As your device struck on a reboot loop so it won't allow a simple reload method . follow the below KB article to reload your device Software.
KB10144  : How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Please note , while reloading in this manner you'll loose all data within your device but if you have a previous back or using BlackBerry protect then you can easily restore them back.

  • Curve 9300 won't use wifi service

So I am not the first person to have this problem.  I've been trawling the web searching for solutions but no-one seems to have any.
The problem is that my Curve 9300 will not use wifi connection instead of network data services.  I can connect to wifi networks just fine.  The phone searches the networks out, connects, puts the little icon on the home screen to say it's connected to a wifi network.  It lists the name of the network up the top.  Everything's great, except that when you actually go to use the internet, the phone connects to your data services instead of the wifi and you get charged for data consumption.
If you turn off the network services to try and force the phone to connect to the wifi instead, you get the error message:
"You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.  As a result, the Browser cannot retrieve any web pages.  Please try again when you are in a different location, or contact your service provider if the problem persists."
    To confirm:
    My Data Services are on.
    My APN settings are disabled.
In Advanced Options, my Default Browser Configuration is set to Hotspot browser.
In General Properties the default browser is Hotspot browser.
In Browser Configuration, the browser is set to AT&T Mobile Web.  I have tried to change it to Hotspot Browser but I save the changes and leave the screen, then when I go back in to check, it's back to AT&T again.  It's not saving the changes to make Hotspot the default configuration.
I did a battery pull to see if that would help and after the restart it allowed me to keep Hotspot as the default configuration but it still wouldn't connect if the mobile service was turned off.  It has now reverted itself back to AT&T and still won't work.
I have read the thread on the Bold forum but for all the people complaining of having the same issue, there was still no solution.  I really want a resolution to this because I do a lot of travelling and my sim card can not always connect to a local network.  I want to be able to go to a local coffee shop and be able to connect, even if I don't have phone service in a foreign airport.  I don't understand what the point is in having wifi on a phone if you can't use it.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Curve 9300 won't update BBM

Hi, I have a Curve 9300 with V5.0.0.845 (6.3.0.34 platform), Blackberry App World V2.1.2.19 and BBM V5.0.0. Since BB App World is been telling me there is a new version of BBM (V5.0.3.22), I have tried to update my device with no luck. If I try to update it connecting the phone via wifi or data service, it tells me that BBM is not available for download via BB App World, and if I connect the phone to a pc and try to install it via the pc, it gets me an unknown error. Please help.

    Hi
I have the 8520, so next one down from yours.
Have you tried it directly from your phone, AND plugged into a PC via USB?

  • BB Curve 9300 won't connect to email servers

Hi all please bear with me as I try to explain this!
I have a BB Curve 9300 on PAYG with Orange. It has always worked fine and emails for all email accounts always came through.
Then yesterday Orange tried to take the £5 for the BB services but I didn't have enough credit so obviously it all ended. I topped up today and they have taken the money. However my emails are not updating/downloading.
I have checked and I have the latest software and I have gone into options -device- advanced system settings etc and it says my handheld is registered for bb services. (But now when I go to options, I can't find the device option to re do this!). If I go to setup - email accounts, it tries to open up the emails I had set up it says checking etc then comes up with your device had a problem connecting to the server.
I've tried a battery out reset etc to no avail. If I click retry it just keeps coming up with the same message. I can access Twitter and Facebook on it (Twitter is slow and alerts take a good few minutes to come through).
My wifi is set up and working, I've got the 4/5 dots, i'm connected to 3G and have UMA in the top right of the screen. So everything appears to be the same as it was before the payment problem.
Can anyone please suggest what to do? Please keep it simple as I'm not that great with IT stuff, until I know what i'm doing!
Any advice will be much appreciated!!
    thanks
    Mary

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you could try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Help! curve 9300 won't stay charged for more than 8 hours

I'm hoping someone can help... My curve is nearly 2 years old so my warranty is over. I replaced the battery 4 months ago b/c my phone wouldn't stay charged for even 1 day. Virgin said they could do nothing for me so I went ahead and just bought a new battery. The same problem has arose but its getting worse each day. The battery symbol shows its at about 80%, I will send one bbm and it will shut off (and not turn back on) until I plug it in. When I do so the battery is at about 20%. I don't even use my phone all day! So I don't know if the problem is the phone or the battery, but since its a new battery I can't help but to think the problem is the phone. I'll take any suggestions to avoid having to get a new phone.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From what you describe, I fear your deduction (that it is the BB) may be correct. But, to truly know, you must complete the following:
    1) Obtain a known-good and already fully charged battery...put it into your BB and see what happens.
    2) Obtain a known-good and identical BB...put your battery into it and see what happens.
The results of this will give a better indication as to the root of the problem. From your post, you may have partially completed the first part of this...but cannot tell if that new battery was already fully charged when you first used it. It's important to use these precise conditions as they best indicate the root of the problem.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Curve 9300 won't send or receive BBM messages

    Hi
I have a blackberry 9300 and it won't send or receive any BBM messages for some of my contacts. When I send a message it shows the tick without a "D" or "R" over it and I can't receive messages from some of my contacts. They also can't see any updates I do like status update, display picture update, etc. My BIS is activate because I can go onto the internet and I can use Whatsapp, the problem is only with BBM. I have tried deleting and sending service books but it hasn't worked. I also deleting my contacts and re-invitign them again but that also doesn't work. My last resort was deleting BBM and downloading it again, it also didn't work.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!
    Be Afraid! Be Very Afraid!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
SMS is a purely voice-level service provided by the mobile service provider, and not technically a component of the BB-level services. Hence, you need to work with your formal support from your mobile service provider to resolve this. If you are paying them for SMS services and they are not delivering them, then they need to resolve that. If they need enhanced assistance, they can formally escalate to BlackBerry for that...but you cannot.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8320 won't charge

I have a new Curve 8320 that doesn't charge.  It worked for a week and then it just stopped charging.  I've tried the USB charger, three different BlackBerry wall chargers, and two different batteries and nothing has worked.  I had a friend charge my battery in her Curve and the battery and phone both worked fine until it was time to recharge again.  Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? If not, does anyone know where I can send the phone to have the problem fixed?  BlackBerry has been less than helpful since I don't pay for their technical support (which is BS if you ask me....it's not like I'm trying to run the world from my phone, I just want it to charge).  The phone less than a year old.
    Thanks in advance,
    WJ

Where did you purchase the device?
The carriers which sell the devices provide the initial first line support. If it is less than a year old, in most cases, the warranty is good for a replacement device. That will vary for some carriers.
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).

  • Curve 9360 won't charge

This morning when I plugged my phone into charge, instead of showing the usual lightening symbol in the battery bar, it just showed a red charge symbol, which it's never done before. It won't hold any charge, even though I turned it off for a while, I battery pulled, waited 30 secs, pressed alt+shift+del twice, and used a different charger. The little light at first flashed red but now is yellow, and has been for the best part of the phone being plugged in to charge. The tricky sitch is I bbought it in England but am in Germany for the next two weeks. Anyone know of a way I can fix this for now, bar having to buy a new battery? Thanks

    Hi Franziww
Sorry to hear that it still not working for you ! But as I said If you can manage or borrow a charge battery from any of your friend it may help , use it on your device it let you know if the issue is because of a battery or your device itself has encountered an issue.
If your device get working after using a fully charge battery then simply replacing the battery will fix the issue and if you notice that the issue is with your device you can try a few things like :

  • Blackberry Curve 9300 won't start

Hi, I was using my blackberry on low battery, listening to voice notes on blackberry messenger (another user was sending some series of voice messages, one after another), when my other phone rang I've pressed the pause button to answer my other device. When I came back to my device, I noticed it was totally dead. I assumed it ran out of battery, but after 3 hours plugged to the wall charger, I still have no sign of life from the phone, not even the led light turned on.
So I unplugged it and try to connect via USB to the notebook, no answer either.
Is there anything else I can do?
    Regards.

    Hi cacao,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
You may need to start a software reload without the battery inserted then reinsert the battery after the software reload has started. http://bbry.lv/k9pwuZ
If your PC is still unable to connect with the BlackBerry, try the following steps to reload your device software:
    1. Verify that your BlackBerry Device Software is installed on the computer. You can download it from your wireless provider's website in this list. http://bbry.lv/ad7CII
    2. Remove the battery from the BlackBerry. Do not re-insert it.
    3. Connect the BlackBerry to the computer with the USB cable.
    4. Navigate to the file path shown here for your PC OS. http://bbry.lv/nPyBiQ
    5. Open Loader.exe and follow the prompts.
    9. When you have clicked Finish and the application load starts, insert the battery into the BlackBerry smartphone.
    Hope this helps.

  • BB Curve 9300 doing random things, won't let me type my unlock password, send/receive texts or phone calls

I have had my BB Curve 9300 for 1 day, today it appears to be doing random things, when I try to type my unlock password it is putting random characters in. Its also sending random text messages out and I am unable to answer any calls? Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like this could be a software issue. Have you upgrade any of the software or changes any settings or put a different OS on the phone?
    If Not
I would suggest taking it back to where you bought it and have them issue it as an OBF (Out of Box Failure). Afew BBS have this problem and usually they come with a 7 days warranty in case of a manufacturing fault. Should that be the case I would recommend that you take your 9300 back and demand for either a replacement of for them to fix it for you free of charge.
But should you have changed something or added new software then the fault lays on you and you're responsible for the fixing of the BB.

  • Curve 9300 takes long to charge and discharge in 6 hours without use.

    Vodacom South Africa
    curve 9300 6.0 with bundle 2949
I got the phone in September. About 4 days ago the battery started to discharge even when I didn't use it. It only hold for about 6 hours. It also takes about an hour and 50 min to charge from 10% to full. I did about 3 battery pulls and it didn't help. I switched the battery with another one. It charges normal in the other phone and my phone does the same thing. I'm using the original charger.
    My apps:
    AccuWeather
    Facebook
    Twitter
    Flashlight
    Google Maps
    Groupon
    Memory Booster
    Opera mini
    Photo Studio
    Telmap5
    TuneWiki
    Vectir Wifi Remote Controle
    Whatsapp
None of these apps is running.

I noticed today that the charge stays normal for about 6 hours. Then before 7 hours it drops from around 65% to red. I also have signal problems. It shows the cross that there is no signal and then suddenly its full again.
