Custom code behind Oracle BI

Most custom code or script I see is added via a dashboard and "Contains HTML Markup" is checked. I don't think what I want to do can be done this way because I want it to be system wide not just a dashboard.
If it is even possible, how would I go about adding custom code to Oracle BI? My goal is to add a div that pops up when a new message is found to notify users of data issues(primarily). The code will be jquery ajax calls to the server.
Is this possible?
Thanks.

You can insert custom HTML, JavaScript and CSS in the dashboards. I use jQuery and jQuery UI to modify default prompts (add checkboxes, treeviews and so on).
To link jQuery and some other js (custom.js file for ex) create file /web/msgdb/customMessages/custommessages.xml and add this code (OBIEE 10g):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1">
<WebMessageTable system="CustomMessages">
<WebMessage name="kmsgCustomScriptsAndStyles">
<HTML>
<script type="text/javascript" src="res/custom/js/jquery.js" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="res/custom/js/custom.js" />
</HTML>
</WebMessage>
<WebMessage name="kuiMainBarActionsTable" translate="no"><HTML>
<MessageRef name="kmsgCustomScriptsAndStyles" />
<!-- inset all content of kuiMainBarActionsTable WebMessage from /web/msgdb/messages/commonuitemplates.xml here-->
</WebMessage>
</WebMessageTable>
</WebMessageTables>

  • Generation of custom code from oracle DB.

    Hi All,
    I am new to oracle BIP which is used to pull reports.I got a requirement to pull the data through BIP using java custom code.I got the API doc for BIP and statrd developing some sample code.My input to the code will be in XML which has one unique attribute and based on the attribute i will run a query to connect to the database and pull some attributes related to the unique attribute input.The output will also be in an XML.When i go through the doc i came to know that "DocumentProcessor" (not sure) is the calss which can be able to pull it data from database.I am using oracle 9i DB.If anyone has any such requirements can you please share the piece of code which helps me to understand and procced further.Here is the piece of code that is written.
    DocumentProcessor docProcessor = null;
              try
              docProcessor = new DocumentProcessor(xmlFilePath, temporaryDirectory);
              Vector outputList = docProcessor.process();
              catch(IOException ioe)
              // If this exception is thrown, the temporaryDirectory information is incorrect.
              ioe.printStackTrace();
              catch(Exception exc)
              //If this exception is thrown, process() failed
              exc.printStackTrace();
    Can yoou please guide me what to do further or the above code is correct.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Narinder,
    Thanx for your advice.
    As far as I understand, JAX-RPC is a specification which different vendors could implement in different ways. So WebServices generated from wscompile of Vendor A doesn't need to run in a WebServiceEngine from Vendor B.
    I have downloaded the Java WebService DeveloperPack, but only Tomcat and the SUN ApplicationServers are supported. In our project, we are now focusing on the technology the SAP NetWeaverDeveloperStudio provides.
    Thanx again and have a nice weekend

    The problem I have is that I only know 11i (and now moving to r12.1.3) report delopment via rdf report style and/or xsl data templates and have no idea how I can take this code in order to create a custom version of it.
    Is there a Note/link somewhere that can tame me through the custom report method using PL/SQL procedures?
    Many,  many thanks.

    There are many examples/docs/tutorials available, just google "XML Report Custom pls/sql" and you should get many hits.

    Hello.
    When disabling custom code in Oracle Forms (EBS R12, using Help -> Diagnostics -> Custom Code -> Off), are calls to CUSTOM.pll the only thing that is disabled, or are there other things that are "Custom Code" too?

  • Custom List Form - newform.aspx with code behind - beginner

    Hi,
    I am working on a request whereby I have to customize the NewForm.aspx. The form will have roughly about 30 controls. One of the controls on the form will pull data from a web service. Another will pull data from a sharepoint list, this is quite complex
    as there will be some logic involved. The form data will then be input as the items into the Main SharePoint list.
    I do know that there will be some code behind on the custom NewForm.aspx, and that it has to be done on Visual Studio.
    I am confused between the application page, custom form web part, or is there any others missing out. Which one of this the best practice, also can someone point out some msdn articles. I found some on the Net, but I find the guides too complicated and am
    finding it difficult to understand.
    Please help

    It depends on how your users will interact with the list, are they going to use list newform.aspx to submit the data or will you be providing separate interface to submit the data. You can always go with custom webpart to incorporate all your business logic
    along with the interface required for end users.

  • SSRS Custom Code Error There is an error on line 0 of custom code: [BC30205] End of statement expected.

    I am receiving this error with the following code, which counts the number of work days between two parameters and I don't see the problem. Please help.
    Public Function GetDateCount(ByVal StartDate AS DateTime, ByVal EndDate AS DateTime) AS Integer
    Dim TempVal AS Integer
    DimTotalDays AS Integer
    TotalDays = 0
    TempVal = DateDiff(DateInterval.Day, StartDate, EndDate) + 1
    for I as Integer = 1 to TempVal
    If(StartDate.DayOfWeek.ToString() <> "Sunday" AND StartDate.DayOfWeek.ToString() <> "Saturday") Then
    TotalDays = TotalDays +1
    End If
    StartDate = DateAdd(DateInterval.day, 1, StartDate)
    Next
    Return TotalDays
    End Function

    Hi CNet Vase,
    According to your description, you want to use custom code to count the number of work days between two parameters in the report, but when you run the report, an error occurs.
    I reproduced the issue in my environment, the error message: ‘DimTotalDays’ is not declared. The error is caused by there is no space between Dim and variable TotalDays, so the system regards it as a unit. To fix this issue, please type
    space behind the word Dim like below:
    Dim TotalDays AS Integer
    If there is any misunderstanding , please feel free to let me know.

  • Customize Access Requried page with code behind attached to it in sharepoint 2010

    Hi,
    I have modified default AccessDenied page to my custom accessdenied.aspx page and put Request Access button on it and javascript client side redirection to my requestaccess (reqestaccess.aspx, reqestaccess.aspx.cs) application page.
    Here the problem is whenever i try to redirect to custom requesaccess page in _layouts it again shows me accessdenied page since user is not having access.
    I changed requrestaccess to my custom requestaccess through Powershell command (UpdateMapping - 5). I can only modify the UI part of requestaccess.aspx and can not bind code behind where i want user to select combination of what access is required
    on the site, there are lots of controls on requestaccess page e.g. dropdown that fetches data from list\external list and so on.
    I tried many things to attach code behind to requestaccess page e.g. <%@ Page Inherits="codebehind.cs" /> and all.
    Q - How can i redirect user to custom request access page (includes both aspx, aspx.cs) and allow user to interact with custom page? Is there any way OR WORKAROUND to do this in Sharepoint 2010?
    OR
    Can we overide with ElevetedPermissions in UI\CodeBehind and show the application page to user?
    OR
    Can user access application page even though they donot have rights to access site? Anything will do.
    OR
    In short, I need to redirect a user to some .aspx\.aspx.cs page from AccessDenied page, irrespective of user having access or not.
    I hope question is clear enough to understand the issue. :)
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you had an issue about the custom Access Required page.
    Microsoft supported using code behind, but for these pages it seemed some difference.
    However, as a workaround, we can put all the functionality to the aspx page directly.

  • How to use PDF417 Bar Code in Oracle Reports 6i

    How to Use PDF417 Bar Code in Oracle 6i. One of my clients has a requirement that Customer Name and Address to be converted into PDF417.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    PN

    You will need to add this font to the system and Reports configuration files.
    For adding font to the system, refer to your system specific guidelines for installing new fonts.
    After you have installed this font on the system, you should be able to see the font in Reports builder font picker dropdown box. or with unix 'xlsfonts' command
    For adding this font to the Reports application.
    1. Modify the printer definition file ( you can get this info from uiprint.txt file for the .ppd or .hpd file used )
    if the printer defination file is .ppd then look for "*Font Information" section and add the new font name there
    like *Font <new_font_name> Standard '(00.1001)" Standard ROM
    If hpd add the new font tfm file as
    FONT= new_font_name
    /tfm=new_font_tfm file.tfm
    2. Copy the AFM or TFM ( these are fonts metrics files, which font vendor will provide ) into the relevant directory so the the Reports application should pick them up.
    3. If necessary, make changes in the alias file (uifont.ali ) for mapping to this font. If the layout objects in your report are associated with the same font name as the new font then mapping is not required. But if the fonts for the layout objects are different then you need to map the original fonts to the new ones. Make sure that the mapping rules should be defined in the right section depending on the printer type being used.

  • How to Get Resource value which are referred in code behind file using IResourceProvider

    Hi Everyone,
    Currently I'm working on moving the Resource file from "App_GlobalResources" to Database by using IResourceProvider. I created a CustomResourceProvider project using ResourceProviderFactory and able to get the resource values from DB which
    are used in aspx page.
    But i'm not able to get the values which are referring from code behind file.
    Ex: Label1.Text = Resources.Common.Car; // This is still coming from resx file.
    Can any one please let me know how to get the value from DB instead of resx file which are referred in cs file.
    Appreciate your help.
    The below code uses the ResourceProviderFactory which calls this method and gets it from DB. Please let me know if you need any more info.
    public class DBResourceProviderFactory : ResourceProviderFactory
            public override IResourceProvider CreateGlobalResourceProvider(string classKey)
                return new DBResourceProvider(classKey);
            public override IResourceProvider CreateLocalResourceProvider(string virtualPath)
                 // we should always get a path from the runtime
                string classKey = virtualPath;
                if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(virtualPath))
                    virtualPath = virtualPath.Remove(0, 1);
                    classKey = virtualPath.Remove(0, virtualPath.IndexOf('/') + 1);
                return new DBResourceProvider(classKey);

  • Embedding code behind a site created in muse to trigger a desired effect

    I built another great site using Muse but the client wants to use a third party processing application that requires I:
    1.) embed script (not a url) in the body section of the html (not the head),
    Instead of placing the code in the <body><body> section (which I do not know how to access in muse), I tried placing the code in the head section available via the "Page Properties" metadata field -- and it does work. However. now I need to create a custom button to trigger this effect.
    2.) I want to use a custom button but the client wants the button to blink between to colors. The third party vendor provided a code that would trigger the action of the first code but I need to find a way to make this all work.
    First, I created the blinking effect by using a blank slideshow and placed a .png version of a button I created in ai in the fist position followed by a button also created in .png with the alternate color on top. I Then set the "Fade" speed to the minimum of .06 seconds. This method did provide the desired effect, but now how do I make it clickable?
    I tried using the "Rectangle Tool" to place an empty, sans stroke div over the blinking button that I created with the idea that I would copy the designated action code into the html by way of the "Object" > "Insert HTML" but instead of placing the code behind the empty rectangle div, it creates it's own link with a "?" mark image. As a test I placed the unwanted "?" on top of the blinking button and previewed the page in the browser and it works causing the intended trigger effect when clicked. Also note that placing the element over the rotating slideshow did not obstruct the blinking effect.
    The only problem is that I don't want to show this "?" that the "Insert HTML" path created, I need to show the blinking "Order Now" button that the client asked for.
    Can anyone help?

  • How to call the custom  code in Seeded OA pages when an event Occured.

    Hi,
    I need to call a Oracle Create Task API when User saves the data from Seeded OA Page(Sales OA Page).When User Pressed on the Save button,based on Value he selected in " Sales Methodology" Field ,I need to call Call API.
    How can I achieve it.Is it suggestable to call Custom Code in OA Page.
    Thanks
    Raju.

    hi
    extend the controller
    1.) In PFR method of controller capture the event of save button.
    2.) If the save button event ocurred capture the value of Sales Methodology.
    3.) if select Sales Methodology is required value then call the API using the below method (change it accordingly)
    import java.sql.CallableStatement;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.Types;
    OADBTransaction txn = getDBTransaction();
    CallableStatement cs =
    txn.createCallableStatement("begin dbms_application_info.set_module(:1, :2);
    end;");
    try
    cs.setString(1, module);
    cs.setString(2, action);
    cs.execute();
    cs.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle)
    try { cs.close } catch (Exception(e) {}
    throw OAException.wrapperException(sqle);

  • Technical Upgrade Guide for Custom Code

    Hi,
    My client is in the process of upgrading from 11.5.9 to 12.1 and has a relatively large customisation footprint.
    There is a wealth of infomation on high-level technical changes made in R12 i.e. banks moved to TCA, suppliers moved to TCA etc. however there is little information on schema or low-level changes.
    On a site with a large amount of customisations such as this it is often unfeasible to analyse every piece of code. In this case the client has to rely on customisations failing on compilation or execution to determine that an upgrade fix is required.
    However, certain changes in R12 have been implemented in a way which will not highlight a problem using the approach above. For example, the table RA_ADDRESSES_ALL is retained in the archive tablespace however addresses are now maintained in TCA. Code that references this table will pass compilation however will reflect incorrect data.
    Naturally Oracle are not responsible for custom extensions to the E-Business suite however it would be useful if there was a document which detailed the changes that needed to be made to make them compatible with R12.
    Is there a published document on recommended upgrade checks required for custom code that I have missed?
    Is there any further information that could be of assistance in this area?
    Many thanks

    I asked the developer working on this, for steps to duplicate the error, and I followed them:
    "...the easiest way I’ve been testing it, is to log into US Super HRMS Manager | People Enter and Maintain. When the window pops up to search for a person, just click the New button like you’re going to enter a new hire. Type in a last name, first name, Mr/Mrs, then click the drop down on the top right for “Create Employment.” Then click on the field below that for the employee number. Then the message will appear.
    I have noticed that it will allow you to click OK through the message and continue, and if you stay in the form and try to create another new person, the message doesn’t seem to come up a second time. But, if you log out and in and try again, you will get the message again."
    When the message pops up, it spews quite a bit of data, and then stops until I click something.
    Below is the text from one "USER_EXIT" of the full spew up to the one that looks like an obvious error, and it stops until I click OK on the "Application Emergency Message" error pop-up:
