Custom dictionary of names

We're using InDesign CS5, and would like to be able to spellcheck using a custom dictionary of names. Each entry in the dictionary would be a first and  last name, and in some case a first, middle, and last name. Is this possible or must dictionary entries always to single words?
Thanks for any help.

OK, so maybe the Mac version handles things differently. If I create a misspelt entry, in say the artist field, then I can have this appear as an auto-complete suggeston when editing data for another file. If I subsequently remove the incorrect spelling, then close & reopen iTunes, I am no longer offered the bad suggestion.
I've had a hunt on the web for any hints that this data might be stored in specific .plist or .xml file but no joy...

  • Custom dictionary of full names?

    We'd like to be able to spellcheck documents for the correct spelling of names against a custom dictionary of full names. By full names I mean first plus last name.  So, for example if the dictionary contained the two names "Jon Burns" and "John Smith", then the name "Jon Smith" would be flagged as misspelled.
    This would be possible if we could enter  multiple words as one dictionary entry, but I don't see a way. Has anyone found a workaround or trick to accomplish this?

    For some good information about your SQL installation you can use something like this:

  • Creating a custom dictionary for Acrobat and Reader.

    I want to create a custom dictionary to be used by all of our users when they access a “forms document” through Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
    Here are some of the issues:
    The default dictionary name under Custom Dictionaries has a .clam extension.
    Is there a way to edit this?
    Does it contain the index settings for all the other added.txt and excluded.txt dictionary files?
    The Reader's default location is under a user’s LocalLow folder.
    C:\Users\PIN\ AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary.
    The Acrobat default location is under the user's Roaming folder.
    C:\Users\PIN\ AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary\.
    This is buried under the users profile and we need to be able to update these files on all the user’s workstations prior to log on.
    This could be done by redirection of the new custom dictionary. What is the location of that setting in the registry?
    Is there is a way to append to the standard dictionary file so as not to replace any setting that a user may have made to the dictionary?
    Is this done to the .clam or .txt file outside of the Adobe Reader application?
    What is the “All” setting in the dictionary?
    Does that imply the program will look through all the dictionaries?
    Is there a way to create a new dictionary name that would appear under the preferences\spelling\dictionaries list. Is there an Index file that would point to a newly created Dictionary folder?

    Custom dictionaries must be created with a 3rd party program provided by Proximity (http://www.proximitytechnology.com/spell_correction.htm).
    The spelling support files are installed in this directory for all users (this is only the default)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\<product>\Resource\Linguistics\Providers\Proximity
    File types include:
    ENV - eg: grmphon.env - the phonetic rule file for the spelling dictionary language. There is one of these “ENV” file for each language.
    CLX - eg: grm32.clx - a language related part of spelling dictionary. There is one of these “CLX” file for each language.
    LEX - eg: grm104.lex - an actual spelling dictionary. There may be several dictionaries for a given language, for example, grm104.lex, grm10401.lex.
    So the answer is:
    Create a custom dictionary with Proximity and use the Wizard or some other method to deploy the files in the correct location.

  • Adding Custom Dictionary using Javascript

    Hi All,
    We have created a javascript to spellcheck the PDF using the inbuilt dictionary.
    Now we got a request to add a custom Medical dictionary to Adobe Acrobat.
    Is that possible to add a custom dictionary to Adobe Acrobat using Javascript.
    I have gone through the "Javascript for Adobe API Reference.pdf".
    But there is no reference for adding a full set of dictionary to it.
    spell.customDictionaryCreate("javascript", "en", true);
    function GetJSTerms(bm, nLevel) { var newWord = bm.name.match(re);
    var ckWord = spell.checkWord( newWord[0] );
    if ( ckWord != null ) { var cWord = spell.addWord( newWord[0], "JavaScript");
    if ( cWord ) console.println( newWord[0] );
    } if (bm.children != null) for (var i = 0; i < bm.children.length; i++) GetJSTerms(bm.children[i], nLevel + 1);
    } console.println("\nAdding New words to the \"JavaScript\" " + "dictionary:");
    var re = /^\w+/; GetJSTerms(this.bookmarkRoot, 0);
    Would this task is achievable through javascript, please advice.

    Thank for the response. We have a medical dictionary with us. Which contains all the words, how do I add the full dictionary with the addWord functionality. Is there is any option to load the dictionary file through scripting. Shaji

  • Add custom dictionary files

    Hi,
    I am trying to add custom dictionary files to our office installation on a TS server.
    its 2012 R2 server running office 365 32bit.
    i have a script that adds the paths to the custom dictionaries to the registry.
    the script adds 2 entries for each dictionary
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom
    Dictionaries\
    the name and the value is the path
    and then "name_state" with a hex value of 01 00 00
    this worked on 2010 but isnt working with my current setup.
    the dictionaries work if manually added through word.
    though if done this way 4 reg keys are created
    with name_roamed and name_external.
    the name also contains the username.domain if created in word.
    in the script the name is just a number,  "10" for example.
    any ideas on how to deploy custom dictionary files into office 365 on server 2012?
    Thanks]

  • Way to import custom dictionary from word?

    I have an extensive custom dictionary that I would like to import into pages. Any suggestions.

    Pages will save a custom spelling dictionary in Users > your name > Library > Spelling . If the Spelling folder doesn't exist Pages will create one when you Learn a word. You can open this custom file in TextEdit. You can add word to the list. I believe the list have to be alphabetical sorted.
    I don't know how the corresponding Word Spelling document looks like. It might have extra data that needs to be deleted first.
    On Leopard there was a small free app one could use for editing the Spelling document. I don't remember the name of it. It is bound to be in these discussions but maybe some 2 years ago.

  • Cannot Enable/Use custom dictionary in iOS4

    Hi,
    I cant seem to enable the custom dictionary. I've tried to solutions I've found online, adding an international keyboard, and the other resetting the current dictionary to it's default. no luck.
    if anyone can assist, that would be great.
    thanks

    I understand the usage of User Dictionary as envisioned by Apple a little better after thinking for a while.
    This is only a way of including words in a dictionary so that spell-check will no longer trip over them or auto-correct them. I believe that even with the Chinese - Pinyin fudge, this probably works, in the same way that including a word as a name of a contact also works for this.
    It is not conceived to function as (for example) Autotext on Blackberry, in which a given word or phrase is substituted for another phrase (for example, "ty" and a space converts to "thank you").
    Except that I was really hoping for that second function, which would make iPhone use much more convenient.
    Fingers crossed for iOS 5.0, and hoping that Apple catches up to 2005.

  • Error in compiling a custom dictionary for text analysis

    I got a error when I tried to compile the custom dictionary for the Text Data Processing transformor. I am looking for help to solve the problem or work around the error.
    The error is as follows:
    [ERR] Can not create file [C:/ws_sclg.1]
    Here is the command I was using:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\bin> tf-ncc -d ..\TextAnalysis\languages -o C:\Sample Source\Dictionary C:\Users\jack\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\XMLFile1.xml
    It appears to me that the command was trying to create a log file or some temporary file in my C drive root directory, and the OS denied the action. The Data Services is running on a Windows 2008 Server R2. I wonder if there is a way to specify where to create this log file or tempory file?
    Any insight or help is appreciated. Jack

    Instead of calling the command from the windows shell command interface, I was able to call the compilier from Data Services; this problem is now resolved.

  • AP to GL Transfer: How to have a custom Journal Header name in GL.

    Hi,
    Does any one know how to have a custom Journal Header name while transferring the Journals from AP to GL?
    Assume that I am transferring the Journals which belongs to a Single Invoice from AP to GL. When these Journals are transferred from AP to GL, Oracle will create a Journal Header with the default naming convention. The Oracle generated Header name will be as shown below.
    *123456 Purchase Invoices USD*. Where 123456 is AE_HEADER_ID and USD is the Invoice Currency code.
    Our requirement is, we want the Journal Header name something like *"Hello World"+TIMESTAMP*, where TIMESTAMP is the date when the user has ran the AP to GL transfer program.
    I know that when building the AAD(Application Accounting Definition) we can define the Journal Header descriptions and Journal Lines descriptions. But, I did not see any setup option to have the custom Journal Header name in GL.
    Any suggestions on this issue are highly appreciated.
    Advanced Thanks,
    Lokesh.

    Hi Lokesh,
    The best way to have a custom journal header name is using hook package.
    When data move from XLA to GL, every time it creates a new dynamic table as GL_INTERFACE table but the name is different (XLA_GLT_XXXXX).
    This table information stores in 'gl_interface_control' table but after use the record has deleted from 'gl_interface_control'.
    So we can't see table information after finishing create accounting program.
    What the modification you will made in this table it will affect GL base table. So to made custom journal header name, we need to change Reference4 column of dynamic table.
    Here is the code to get the table name and through procedure you can update the Reference4 column.
    FUNCTION pre_module_hook(run_id IN NUMBER,
                   errbuf IN OUT NOCOPY VARCHAR2) RETURN BOOLEAN IS
    chr_errbuf varchar2(50);
    chr_retcode varchar2(50);
    l_interface_Table_name varchar2(2000);
    BEGIN
         SELECT interface_table_name
    into l_interface_Table_name
    FROM gl_interface_control
    WHERE interface_run_id = run_id;
         BEGIN
    xxdb_gl_icaccntgdist_pkg.gl_int_jrnl_update (chr_errbuf,chr_retcode,l_interface_Table_name);
    RETURN(TRUE);
         END;
    END pre_module_hook;
    Make these changes in GL_IMPORT_HOOK_PKG.pre_module_hook function.
    You can make the changes through calling procedure using dynamic query under the function pre_module_hook.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav K

  • 64-bit Spell checker in OPPM v9-Sp1 works, but need Custom Dictionary

    My client adopted Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management (formerly ProSight) -- which is NOT P6, a couple of years ago. It entered production with v.8.0 which had a spell-checker included but which does not work with the approved 64-bit O/S (ie: Windows Server 64-bit). After being disappointed with the v.9.0 release also not supporting 64-bit O/S, the recently released v.9.0-Sp1 finally does. Good news!
    I have the instructions (“Primavera Portfolio Management 8.0 Customizing the Spelling Checker.pdf”) for adding a custom dictionary to the system, but cannot find any information on doing this for OPPM v.9.0-Sp1.
    Does anyone know if the same instructions still work, or where I can get new instructions for adding a custom dictionary (to avoid having the users need to add many new terms, including their own misspelled ones)?
    Thanx in advance.

    Hi Sachin:
    Actually, after my message yesterday, I managed to find the document, buried in with the OPPM technical docs. Looks identical to the OPPM v.8 version. Thanx for your help.
    Now that I have poked around a little more, I realized that I haven't seen anything about how to EDIT the dictionary files once created. How does one clean them up of accidentally (or unintentionally) added mis-spelled words? Every other application I've ever used with a spell checker has that function somewhere, but I can't see it in OPPM.
    Any info on this issue? Thanx in advance.

  • Indesign CS6 Custom Dictionary

    I'm a copywriter, and I use Dynamic Spelling in Indesign CS6. I work in an industry that uses a huge amount of unconventional spellings. I cannot find a dictionary setting that checks spelling using my custom dictionary when each page is opened; but when I add a new word to the dictionary, it checks the whole page. The simplest workaround I have devised is to add a nonsense word starting with a zero to the dictionary for each page; when I do this, the whole page gets checked. I remove the nonsense words from my dictionary (where they appear at the beginning, because of the initial zero) on a monthly basis. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Yes. I had tried adding it via Preferences > Dictionary, but the same problem occurs (InDesign quits).
    And there is no other formatting or characters in the txt file. It purely contains words separated by a hard return.

  • Select option "Show this View : in Folder of Content type : {Custom Content Type Name}" while creating view using CSOM

    Hi,
    I am trying to create "View" in a Document Library and need to enable following:
    1. Mark as default View
    2. Folders -> Show this view : in Folders of Content Type : {Custom Content Type name}
    I am using following code which sets "in Folders of Content Type : " to "Folder" rather than selecting custom content type despite passing Content Type ID of custom content type.
    code:
    var itemContentTypes = clientContext.LoadQuery(web.AvailableContentTypes.Where(ct => ct.Name == viewContentType));
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    var itemContentType = itemContentTypes.FirstOrDefault();
    view.ContentTypeId = itemContentType.Id;
    view.DefaultViewForContentType = true;
    view.Update();
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    Please highlight what seems to be missing?
    Thanks
    Sonal

    Hi,
    Before you set the content type ID for the view, you need to add the custom content type to the library firstly.
    You can add the content type to library using OOTB feature “Add from existing site content types” in library settings or using Client Object Model.
    Here is a code snippet for your reference:
    var list = context.Web.Lists.GetByTitle(listTitle);
    list.ContentTypesEnabled = true;
    var contentType = context.Site.RootWeb.ContentTypes.GetById("0x0120");
    list.ContentTypes.AddExistingContentType(contentType);
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    More information about add exist content type using Client Object Model:<o:p></o:p>
