Custom Template Questions...

I guess i should explain what we are creating first... this is our first "full length" dvd project. It is entirely in native 16:9 3CCD SD. the main title page will have 4 "titles": main feature, instruction, extras, disclaimer/credits. the instruction and extras menu items will also have sub-menu's once you click on the link - for example, the extras menu will be something like: carnage, bloopers, etc, etc...
we want to create the menu to look exactly like the dvd case: black with two yellow stripes down the left side and a circle/logo at the bottom of the stripes. in the circle, we would like to have the logo fade into video clips. it would be nice to have the motion/loop of the main menu continue through the different sub-menu's - ie, the buttons act independantly from the main menu video clip (does that make sence?)
question: 1- how should i go about creating this (pretend - or not - i'm an idiot) 2- if creating a .tiff in photoshop, what should it set the image size to be for a 16:9 res? is it 720x480? i forget...
any extra input you have would be great!

for your logo, DVDSP4 has a built in overlay called
FadeInNTSC or something to that effect.
To answer your questions "pretending you are an idiot" would take a lot longer than the time i currently have, but all your answers can easily be found in the manual and on this forum in several places.

  • Switching themes with customized templates

    Most typical Apex applications start with a quick prototype containing most of the required functionality, get required approvals, and continue building it up.
    During all of this, the concept of "themes" is mentioned and demonstrated as a reassurance that the "look and feel" of the application can be very easily switched at any point. In other words, let's worry about designing the content and behaviour, the presentation can be easily switched.
    All this sounds very good on paper and is do-able as long as one uses the out-of-the-box Apex themes/templates. But, in my experience, any non-trivial application has lots of customized templates. That brings me to my question.
    As soon as you start to customize templates, modify them, create new ones, etc, you start to get "committed" to that specific theme. In other words, if I have a theme with 10 customized templates, 5 slightly modified ones, etc, and I switch to another theme from the Apex repository, I get all the out-of-the-box templates for that theme. I have to painstakingly re-do all my customizations for the corresponding templates in the new theme.
    And Apex does nothing to help me with this task. There is no "diff" utility between themes, no compares, no merges, nothing. I have to eye-ball the old template, copy the HTML snippets from the Builder into Notepad, pull up my new template and manually copy, paste, modify snippets into the new template. Very error-prone.
    How have people handled this sort of thing? Are there any best-practices, any procedures that people follow to make switching between themes painless?

    I build out themes all the time that are about 70/30 standard templates to custom templates and following that procedure makes the switches fairly easy.

    You need to enable the PerformancePoint Service Site Collection Features(PPSMonDatasourceCtype)
    on the target site collection. go to site action > site settings> site collections features > and enable it and now try again.

  • How to make a custom template the default for Apple Mail (10.7.5)?

    Hi,
    I'm OK with making a new custom template in Apple Mail.  It shows up fine once under "custom" in the stationary pane (and once I take off signature in a new email).  But... that's a lot of trouble to go through everytime I want to send an email.
    So the question is: can I make my custom template my default for all my emails, unless I want to manually change it?  Seems like this should be possible but I can't figure it out and haven't run into any solutions (only on how to make a template).
    Do I really have to select it each time?

    As an FYI: I just solved the problem by going the "low road." I'll be a bit laborious in case someone else wants a solution at a later date (I know I Googled the topic and found nothing). I experimented by simply:
    Opening a new email message
    Selecting my custom template
    Copying the custom signature (Select All)
    Opening another new email message
    Selecting Edit on the Signature pulldown menu
    Hitting the plus symbol to create/add a new signature in the pane
    Pasting into the new signature
    Naming it
    Selecting "Choose signature" at the bottom of the signatures pane
    And violà!!
    It now appears as a possible selection *and* as the default.
    Better yet - it is now my default and will work as a reply to an email.
    I think I got it all right in the list above.
    OK, granted, this is a pretty simply signature - a list of my website, SoundCloud, twitter etc with those names in bold and a graphic of my color logo - but... it works! YMMV.
    Give it to Apple to make it so simple that any fool could do it (that would be me), you wouldn't need a "specialized" app, and - of course - there wouldn't even be instructions on how to do it!

    You cannot do that from Pages. You do that from the Finder.

  • Creating custom templates in Lightroom

    I'm new to the Adobe forum, and I have a question regarding Lightroom.
    I want to create a paper proof/order form for a school portrait photography business I'm starting up. I need to create a custom template that I can drop and drag images together with meta data into. (the meta data will act as an order reference for customers)  I've been told Adobe Bridge can handle this, but could this be done in Lightroom and Indesign. Or is there any other software out there that would do this?

  • Lms v4.2 template question

    in lms 4.2 i have successfully imported mibs, created templates, created associated pollers and run reports on the data.
    the question/problem is.... some of the default templates have a Computation feature.  For example, the default template for Interface Utilization takes the polled stats for In/Out Octets and computes % utilzed for RX and TX based on the link speed.  When i create my own interface utilization template there is no where to add Computation to the template and therefore what the report shows is large numbers of bits or bytes which makes it not so easy to deciper...esp for mgmt.  Even when the default template is copied, the Computation value is not there anymore.
    How can i add Computation feature to my custom templates?
    anyone have any ideas?

    Unfortunately, this is not a problem, this is by design. Those system templates which generate the data in % etc, needs computation of data from output of multiple OID's. Like for interface utilisation following formula is used :
    As this is possible to be done for system templates at the background and show correct data, which is a little difficult with custom templates.
    So with the custom templates, it just polls the device and shows the information as it is returned by the device.

  • Editing my custom templates

    OK lads just two quick questions.
    I'm creating new templates and there isn't an option to store them anywhere other than my users folder and as I need to 'collect' the media, my boot drive won't have enough space, it's already told me so.
    Anyone have a workaround for forcing motion to allow me to store custom templates somewhere else?
    2nd question. I would like to give my custom theme folder an appropriate icon instead of the default folder icon. I've copied a preferred jpeg, did 'file info' on the theme folder, pasted the jpeg into it's icon tab and in the finder the folder has the appropriate icon but in Motion it ignores the pasted jpeg and still presents the default folder icon . Again is there a way to get Motion to accept the icon I've created for the Theme folder?

    First of all you can store the Template anywhere, but if you want it to be available in FCP, then it needs to be in a specific place which just happens to be in the Master Templates folder inside Application Support. If your system drive is that full, I suggest you take steps to remedy that as it could affect any application that you run. Either move your itunes library or other large, unnecessary files off the system drive, or buy a larger system drive and set that up as your boot drive. Either way, the templates need to be in a specific place to be available in Final Cut.
    2ndly, Mark Spencer has a quick tutorial that shows how to give your custom template a custom icon. Go to his website at: www.applemotion.net and check it out.

    Your question was posted in the Numbers community, a place for discussions of issues and techniques specific to the Apple spreadsheet application Numbers, part of the iWork set.

    Where in that post do you make it clear that the custom templates you are talking about are "MS Word" templates? Where do you even mention that fact?

    Actually, you did not report "there is no iWork in (your) system,"t. You did report that "iWork does not show up" when you followed the path given.
    You had made no mention to that time that iWork was not installed on your computer, and the fact that you had posted a question about removing templates in a forum(and in a discussion thread) specifically for one of the iWork applications would lead any reasonably intelligent reader to assume that the application was on your computer, and that, like the other users in this discussion, you were asking about Numbers templates, or at least about templates for one of the iWork applications.
    Given that assumption, and given that the supplied path was the correct path to a user's custom templates for numbers, the most likely explanation of iWork's name missing from the path would be the one Yvan assumed—a misstep by the user at the beginning of the path.

    The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
    You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
    You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
    Menu > Format > Import Styles
    The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.
