Custom type of file requester

Okay, here's one for the the LabVIEW gurus....
I've got an app where I'm selecting a bunch of files in file requester- now I want to display a requester showing the files that have been previously selected and allowing the user to close them.
So, question is, any way of hijacking a file requester to display a list of files I specify? They may all live in different directories.

I guessed he meant the express VI, but I still don't see how it could work for all imaginable scenarios.
He wants to only show a list of "previously selected files".
It is not obvious if these files have a certain pattern or even exist all in the same folder. How does the file dialog know what has been previously selected? And where is the "browse opinions" input? I don't have that.

Further note: I have uninstalled this stupid program now THREE different times, including using a registry cleaner, which then deleted my DVD drive, thankyouverymuch. And even after I got the DVD drive back so I could reinstall the program, it was like I'd never uninstalled it (with the exception of the custom brushes still being missing) right down to the canvas size and paint color I had been using when all this started.
So uninstalling it does nothing, resetting preferences does nothing... I can not save my work, period. I've been fighting with this for about 8 hours and I am so frustrated I could just throttle someone with my bare hands for putting me through this crap.
For a product that came bundled with a $200 graphics tablet, it sure isn't worth a damn. Anybody got any ideas? I'm at my wits' end here.

"Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

I am using the latest version of Photoshop CC. When I attempt to open a recent .psd file listed in the Open Recent list, I get the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." I can use the open command to open these files with no problem. The files are not damaged or missing the .psd extension and open normally except when using the Open Recent menu. OS is Mac 10.8.5. Thanks for any clues as to a fix.

As weid as it may sound: simply don't use "Open recent...". Use Bridge to manage, find and start them in PS.

Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.

If you find your camera is supported by your version of Photoshop, you need to download the latest update for Camera Raw. There's more information on how to do that here:

The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

CS3 Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.   Also, all the jpg images I have open in preview only. The only thing I did different about the time these things changed, was upgrading to 10.6 on my mac. Hopefully I can fix this with your help! I really appreciate it in advance.

This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.

Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
     Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
    Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

You can't use iPhoto that way. Poking around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto is just begging for trouble, the fastest way to corrupt your library and lose all your images.
You have two choices with iphoto:
1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, never save as, and don't change the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, although you have to lose the edited version to revert to the original. This doesn't work with raw files.
2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in PSE and then you can make all the changes to name and format that you want. Then import the saved edited version to iphoto as a new file.

For instance: the customer types are churches, schools, organizations. The program type would be dependent on the customer type selection from the first list. Some examples would be: fund raising, gift planning, surveys, and others. The purpose of the trip would be dependent on the program type selected from the second list. The form has to be very simple for our consultants to use, but also give our office the detail we need to process through the correct account numbers. An AcroForm is the name given to the type of PDF form that you create in Acrobat. An XFA form is the type of form that you create in LiveCycle Designer. Although they are both PDF files, they are very different structurally and have significant;y different scripting models. So pay attention to the information on AcroForms and ignore anything about XFA. Be sure to get the sample PDF forms so you can look at how it works and where the scripts are placed.
What you want to do will require scripting, and if you don't have the experience and are unable to use the information in the tutorials to create what you want, you might consider getting someone who has experience do this for you. I'll often suggest code if I can do so quickly, but what you want requires more than a few minutes.

Unable to save ANY types of files in Elements 5.0

Today I was working with Elements, creating a photomanipulation. This involved several layers, including a background of a beach, a horse, and some text. I've done this before with this exact same program on this exact same computer and not had too many problems. But not today.
Today when I try to save my creation, in ANY format, I get this message:
Could not save as
"C:\Users\User\...\Untitled-1.jpg" because the file is already in use or was left open.
GAHH!!!! Well of COURSE the stupid file is open, I'm working ON IT and trying to save my work!!! If I try to close the file, I get the standard question:
Save changes to the Adobe Photoshop Elements document "Untitled-1" before closing?
to which if I say yes, I get the same old crap:
Could not save as
"C:\Users\User\...\Untitled-1.jpg" because the file is already in use or was left open.
Now if I select save as *PSD or *PDD, *SOMETIMES* it acts like it has saved my work, (Instead of just saying it can't) but when I look for what I saved, all I find are a bunch of crap files that can't be opened. Example:
Cannot open 'C:\Users]User\Pictures\Photo Manips\~ps2AA0.tmp' because it is the wrong type of file.
Please note that I never actually chose to save ANY files called ~ps2aa0.tmp at any point in this process.
So I am stuck in a vicious cycle where before everything was working just fine. And it's not just editing photos or doing manipulations. I can take a brand new blank canvas, scribble a line on it with a paintbrush, and I am completely and totally unable to save even the simplest thing in ANY format whatsoever.
I tried uninstalling Elements and reinstalling it and that did absolutely nothing, except cause me to lose all the special effect brushes I spent hours downloading. And when I started it back up, I was right where I was before, it even had the same custom color preloaded on the palette, as if it did not truly uninstall AT ALL. (Just the special brushes were missing, thanks for nothing!)
My computer is maybe 8 months old now, a nice Hewlitt Packard with Vista. I specifically bought this computer so I could do more things with my art and more photos, and the first thing I loaded on it was the Bamboo tablet by Wacom, which came with Photoshop Elements 5.0 free. I've been using it ever since with hardly a problem and now today, I can't save the simplest little thing, and it is really aggravating me to death.
ANY light that anyone could shed on this would be most appreciated. I'm sure it's something extremely stupid, like I found the secret invisible "do not save anything ever again" button and somehow managed to press it. Whatever it is, I can not for the life of me figure out how to make it work like it's SUPPOSED to work. Somebody please help me before I go stark raving mad.

How to use resStr() to set name of custom Type

OK say I create a copy of Action step type (from NI_Types.ini) and rename it Mycustomstep and put this in my own Type Palette, "MyCustTypes", folder(MyCustTypes.ini). The Step Type context menu shows "MyCustTypes | Action" instead of "MyCustTypes | Mycustomstep" nomenclature. When you look in Step Type Menu Editor everything looks the way I expect, MyCustType | Mycustomstep...
Thus to update the custom type with my own name I see the resStr() needs to be changed in my custom type properties. Not sure where to navigate to find the nomenclature using the Expression Browser for Default Step Name Expression, property menu. Since the ini is binary I can't read the ini directly...

There are a couple places to "rename" your custom step type, and they
all affect different areas. To get a meaningful name in the .ini file,
you actually have to right click on the custom type and rename it. To
customize the name of the type as it appears in the insertion palette,
you must right click the custom step type, go to properties, and then
to Menu tab. Here, you can set the name of the step as it will appear
in the insertion palette (Item Name Expression) and select or create
which folder it will reside in (Group). Finally, if you change the
"Default Step Name Expression" on the General tab, you will be changing
the name of the step as it appears when you place the step into your
sequence.
For all of these entry fields, you can simply put a literal string.
You do not need to use the resStr() function. However, if you would
like to, you can find where these strings returned from the resStr()
function are defined in the
<teststand>/components/NI/language/english directory, and add
your own entries.

IMac 500GB HDD occupied by 499.25 "other" files while all other types of files show "0 KB", what gives?

iMac 500GB HDD occupied by 499.25 GB "other" files while all other types of files show "0 KB", what gives?
I've tried cleaning up the HDD from HD tool twice and pressed command-option-P-R while restarting the Mac afterwards. The avaliable HDD space "improved" from 1.3 MB to 121 MB after the first restart and descresed down to 119MB after the second restart. I have kept very little AV files as well as doucment files. My application programs are just several GB. Is this a system problem. Do I have to reinstall the system?

BTW Apple customer service is on HOILDAY these two days from where I'm staying...

I am not changing Oracle.DataAccess.dll at all. I am using the patched version all the way, UDT does not work properly with the unpatched version.
What i am changing is adding an additional dummy attribute to my types to make them work with the ODP.NET driver. I just wanted to know whether this is known limitiation (like the need to a at least one Attribute to Top-Level-Types) or just a bug.

Can someone tell me when the functionality of Multiple "Bill To" addresses for Customer type Business Partners became available? I have a customer on 2007A SP00 PL06 and we cannot create more than one, while in my test system at 2007A SP00 PL41 I do.

Resizing array of custom type

I first create a custom type that is a container of 3 strings.
I then create a custom type that is an array of that custom type and give it size 1 (lower and upper bound = 0).
If I then re-size that array, why does TestStand not make every additional element of that array match the original container of 3 strings?
The same behavior happens both in a .seq file and in the types file itself. I could sort of see in a .seq file if I drop down this custom type that is initially size 1 and try to change the array bounds that it wouldn't automatically make the additional elements match but I wouldn't expect this behavior in the types file. This seems to be a bug to me. TestStand 2012.

I'm not seeing the point of the custom type that is just an array of a custom type (container). I would first remove that level of complexity.
You are seeing the same behavior in both the sequence and type editor? That sounds desirable to me (not a bug).
