Custom video size setup

I have three small videos that were recorded at 320x240. Do I need to set up the Premiere project to that size or do I just set that size when I output the final WMV file?

Custom Video Size

I'm new to FCE and I'm stuck on something that is so simple to do in older products like Premiere: I wish to use a custom video size. I have footage captured years ago at 768x576 which I'd like to work with at that resolution, and I've also a need to work at 128x128@15fps. I don't want to go back to Premiere on OS 9 (which does the job with a few clicks) and I don't want to pay the extra for FCP. Is it not possible just to edit the FCE's presets?

No, it is not. FCE is a fixed resolution editing application. It only works in DV nd HDV size formats and frame rates.

Export Custom Video Size from FCE

Hi all, Happy Holidays!!
I'm A DJ and I have footage of events that I have edited and want to use on various pages of my website. I want to resize or "crop" the video and eventually render it as FlashVideo. I want it similar to a "banner size" you would see as ads on webpages. Possible? I was trying to do this by exporting from FCE in QT Pro but it wasn't cropping, it was just stretching...
Any help would be great..Jeff

OK. So i found a cropping tutorial using QT Pro on YouTube.
1. I first used the cropping in the Motion Tab within FCE.
2. I exported that movie,
3. Opened it up in QT Pro.
4. Took a snapshot of the movie.
5. Opened the snapshot into Photoshop to make a matte.
6. Went back into QT Pro. Opened the "Show Movie Properties" window and selected the 'Video Track' tab/ 'Visual Settings'.
7. Added the matte in the 'Mask window' and it worked great.

Custom video sizes dont make sense

The choices for custom sizes to broadcast are
[160x120;240x180;176x144;280x180 etc.]
Now if I broadcast using the 320x180 and play it back in a
320x180 window, the whole thing is squashed. However, in a 320x240
window it looks dandy.
Anyone know the mystery behind this?

Migration - Custom Print Sizes

I am trying to migrate custom print sizes setup from one user profile to different employee, and there are quite a bit. In the future, where are these custom print settings stored and what is the best way to copy them between profiles?

I'd copy it, change the Permissions to the new user, move the copy to the new users prefs folder & remove the copy from the end of it.

Custom Paper Size in Page Setup grayed out and cannot be selected.

I am playing with the iWork '08 demo and looking at Pages. I need to create an 8.25 x 10.5 custom paper size, which I did, but when I try to select it in Page Setup, it is grayed out. If I open a document made in the previous Pages that was done using this size, it still works.
Any thoughts?

I'm having this same problem as well. I'm trying to set up my page size to B5. I create a new custom size with B5 dimensions in the Page Setup screen but after I save it, I'm unable to select it as my page size.

Where is the "Sequence Preset Editor? I need a custom Sequence size.

On Page 1011 of the PDF manual for FCE 4, it says:
"You can also choose to use the existing settings of the clip or
sequence you are exporting, or create customized settings in a custom Sequence
*Preset Editor*." Where is that?
I cannot get any Export mode to output the same resolution size as my screen capture movie is. Its 1036x778 recorded in AIC codec, so FCE likes it fine.
It seems using the fixed Sequence presets pixel sizes is working against me. I think if I bring my 1036x788 into a Sequence that is 1036x778 I wont get the squishing and distortions of another size. Telling Export to make output 1036x778 never works as it works on the Sequence size not my video size.
How do I get a custom sized Sequence?

FCE does not have this feature as Karsten indicates.
FCE uses fixed pre-set Sequence sizes and cannot be changed.
If you select any Easy Setup you will see the sizes in the fine print.
The info is probably a copy/paste goof up from the FCPro manual.

Z3200 won't print to custom page size

Hello,
I've created a banner that is 23"w x 82"h (in CorelDraw Suite 4). The page setup of the Corel file is 23" w x 82"h. I've been trying to print it on the z3200 designjet, but have had no luck. I created several custom page sizes (23" x 82", 24" x 85", 24" x 82") using both the "Printer Properties" dialogue within CorelDraw as well as adding a "Form" in the "Print Server Properties", none of them work. I've set the correct paper (24" wide HP Bright White Bond, feeding from the roller) on the actual printer itself, and in the Printer Properties.
I've played around with all of the different settings that I can and sometimes see the following error message:
[1/1]Paper size selected (width:23.00 inches, height: 82.00 inches) is larger than loaded paper (width: 24 inches). Please verify your printer setup.
When the page prints, it is resizing the content to be 8.5" wide.
I don't know what I'm missing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problem here in China as well; and I've talked to the tech support in my region and no help. Called the province HP tech rep and he has no clue at all.
Does any Tech/Eng here could help us? Otherwise there's no reason for me to use you guys machine anymore...

Custom Page Sizes - How to change from centimeters to Inches?

I'm working on some panoramic prints to an Epson R2400 and I need to set up a custom paper size for printing to roll paper. When I select Custom Page Sizes from the Page Setup dropdown, all my measurements are forced into centimeters. Even if I try and specify it to be in inches when I type in the values, I get an error saying "Invalid Number" because of the " (in mark designation).
And because the input box only allows two decimal places, I can't get accurate inches-to-centimeter conversions because the sizes I need are 3+ decimals when converted to centimeters.
Searching on the web I've come across many pages with info on the Custom Page Sizes dialog box and the images show the values being set in inches, but I've found nowhere that says where you specify where I can change this default measurement?
If anyone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Answering my own questions.
Because I'm Canadian, in Preferences -> International -> Formats I needed to change "Measurement Units" to "US" instead of "Metric".

Editing video in native video sizes - Premiere CS3/CS4

How do I edit with non-specific video sizes such as 640x360 which my still camera captures video to? Everything in Prem CS3 or CS4 seems to be preset editting size environments? I would like to edit the video in it's native resolution and output in it's native resolution.

That is what my feeble memory is telling me too: CS3 was per Project, and the "Custom" was called Desktop Mode, where the attributes could be altered to suit

thats how it works with my cs3... and as you need to match the source in that desktop mode ( and even choose a rendering codec )..its a good idea to use mediainfo or gspot and make notes about video and audio as necessary so that when you 'duplicate' that in the desktop ( custom ) settings you get the right project settings.

Custom paper size - seems scaled for A4

Hi,
I'm trying to print on the front of a card which when unfolded is 15cm x 30cm.
I've made a PDF in Inkscape (page size matches paper dimensions) and opened it in Preview.
I set a custom paper size of 15 x 30cm for my printer (Samsung ML-2010) in the page setup dialogue. The scaling set to 100%. When I print preview everything looks fine.
However, when I print it seems to be scaled for a much larger page and the text is much larger than original and runs off the page. If I print it onto an A4 sheet everything fits but the text is still larger than intended.
Any ideas on what's going wrong?

Unfortunately I don't seem to have that Scale to Fit option... just the usual Scale bit below the orientation (in Page setup) which I currently have at 100%.

Custom page size in Illustrator CS6 and CC

Hello,
send video with error Illustrator CC, which is not renewed custom page size. I have to click to another page and then back up to the size of their own.
In Illustrator CS6 it worked.

Perhaps the developers will notice and correct the error. Gradually I will send videos with the latest Illustrator's mistakes than the older versions.

Customizing page size and layouts

Three topics:
CUSTOM PAGE SIZE. There have been lots of requests for the ability to set custom sizes. One "easy" way would be to create page margins in the same way that padding allows cell margins. This way, a user can create (for example) a 10.5x9.5 "page" on a 12x12 platform. Particularly for those of us printing our own, it's one way to allow customization. All of the built-in layouts would then have to be scaled to fit within the page margins.
If this is done, the next logical extension would be to add a few common paper sizes to the Book Settings. This way, a user could create virtually any page size. For example 14W11H on a 13x19 sheet.
COPYING LAYOUTS. Would also be great to "copy-paste" layouts. After I pick a starting layout and then adjust cell padding, move captions, change fonts, and so forth, I'd like to replicate that elsewhere. In fact, I'm trying to create a left-page/right-page 11x11 on the 12x12 platform using cell padding, and it would be great to copy my customized "left-page" layout to all the left pages.
HIGH-QUALITY PRINT YOUR OWN. I've not yet tried printing via exported pdf on my local printer. Will it be as high resolution and as well color managed as if I printed directly from the Print module? I use icc profiles (some from vendors, some custom created) specific to each paper. I've now spent a lot of time narrowing choices of dual-sided paper to print my own books and I don't want to lose that capability.

Printing from the exported PDF. The quality I get is exactly just as good as printing any file directly.
I have two methods but they are for my Mac system, but I guess you can interpret them if you are on windows.
1 Set the desired parameters for the PDF in the book module (quality, profile to embed etc) and export to a folder
2 import into Photoshop and adjust the parameters if necessary
In Photoshop "save as" whatever file you wish which you can then print normally from PS or else import into LR and print with profiles from there
3 Printing from the PDF by opening in Adobe Reader, setting Page Setup and then "file-Print"
In Mac choose your paper preset, and under Copies and Pages drop down menu you can find print settings (color adjustment "off" etc.) and under color matching on Mac I choose Color Sync, and "Other Profiles"
which shows me all my custom paper profiles

Another simple way on the Mac is to <right click> or <Control click> on the PDF file and choose "Open with Preview" It's important to choose the correct color profile in the Book Module before exporting to PDF so that the correct profile is used in Preview
