Custom WebDynpro UI - Frontending custom ECC RFC's

We're in the process of migrating some custom JAVA UI development from a Websphere platform to SAP Web Dynpro integrated into the SAP Portal(2004s).  Longer term our strategy is to utilize SAP delivered simplified user interfaces provided by SRM/SCM/CRM, etc. but many of those interfaces do not exist yet or do not meet our 3rd party interface requirements.  By porting the UI into the SAP technology stack and the SAP Portal we believe it will be easier to plug in standard SAP components as they become available.
Should we use Web Dynpro for JAVA since our main ERP box will be at ECC 5.0 /Netweaver 2004? Or should we use one of our 2004s environments to leverage Web-Dynpro for ABAP?  Is there a way to use some technology to wrap the existing Java code and present via an i-view in the SAP Portal?  Was hoping someone from could provide perspective on the various options.
If we end up using Web Dynpro for JAVA what are the pro/con factors as to where that JAVA UI code should reside (Portal server, ECC server, separate 2004s WAS instance)?

hi
you are creating custom transaction code to maintain master data, that is nothing but transaction iview in portal. Actually portal is just a container to show the transaction meanwhile you are actually working in R/3. So as you are in R/3 there will not be any control over portal to validate anything e.g. if any mandatory field is empty.
In this case even you cannot use any RFC because it is not Webdynpro Java application. There is only way for validation to do is create BADI and check thats all.

  • OTR CREATION IN BATCH MODE / AUTOMATIC "CIF" CUSTOMER IMMEDIATELY AFTER CREATION IN ECC

    Dear All,
    My scenario is: We have a Web dynpro customized screen for Customer Creation and Sales Order creation in SAP ECC. This screen first send data to CRM where Customer is created and Customer code is flowing back to my screen immediately. Using this Customer Code, Sales order is created from the same screen using standard BAPI.
    Now as per standard behavior, data will be sent to TM immediately after sales order creation for OTR creation, where it will fail as customer created was not CIFed to TM. So as per my understanding, my issue can be resolved by any of the following ways:
    Option 1) Automatic CIF customer at the time of Customer Creation: By this if customer will automatically CIFed to TM immediately after the customer is created in ECC through CRM, then there will be no issue even in creating OTR immediately after Sales order creation.
    OR
    Option 2) Creating OTR in batch mode instead of immediately after Sales Order Creation: By this I can first CIF Customer to TM in Batch JOB and then subsequently OTR will be created in Batch Job.
    Please suggest more feasible option out of two options mentioned above and also how to achieve the same?
    Regards,
    Vibhu Gupta

    Hi Vikas,
    1. Could you please show me one of your FU stages info if allowed and show me what you did to achieve step 4 and 5 in the frontend? I want to check in our internal system and see whether this can be achieved from standard point.
    2. How did you achieve the automatic FO creation when building FU? Because when I create a FU, there is no FO created automaticaly.
    Thanks & Best Regards,

  • Eventing in Portal page between Team Viewer and Custom Webdynpro for ABAP

    We are trying to implement a new Portal page that contains a Team Viewer Iview and a custom Webdynpro for ABAP iview.
    The idea is that the when a manager select one of his direct report in the Team Viewer, the custom Webdynpro for ABAP would pick up the selection_changed event and retrieve the data for the selected employee.
    We followed the instruction provided by SAP in note 1112733 and it worked in our development environment. When we moved the iviews to our testing environment it stopped working.
    I also used the Diagnostic Iviews provided by SAP and I get the same result: Works in Dev, does not work in QA or in Prod.
    We also followed the troubleshooting steps of note 945516 and it still did not help us. We can not find a difference in our system set up.
    We are therefore looking for pointers as to what could be our problem.
    Thanks!
    Edited by: Benoit Fortin on Feb 20, 2009 2:28 PM

    Problem was solved internally:
    The reasons the eventing worked in Dev and not in QA or Prod, was that we had a different level of patch for ESS/MSS between instances, which I was not aware of.
    Dev was on ESS/MSS version 600 SP14 and QA and Prod was on a different level. Once we implemented ESS/MSS SP 14 accross the board, everything was good.

  • Missing Customizing settings for software component ECC-DIMP

    Hi all,
    While running the T-code IE4n I am getting this error:
    Missing Customizing settings for software component ECC-DIMP
    This is working fine in IDES ECC 6.0 ,Could u please tell me how to resolve it for my othersystems.
    Thanks
    Yinyan Lu

    Dear Yinyan Lu,
    Please, have a look into the SAP note 767108 (IE4N: Problems due to missing notification Customizing)
    Solution
    To correct this error, implement the correction instructions contained
    in this note or import the relevant Support Package.
    In packages
    o  DI in Release 4.6C2
    o  DIMP in Release 4.71 and higher
    o  EA-APPL as of Release 4.7 Extension Set 2 and higher
    notifications are created when installing and dismantling. In this case,
    Customizing must be complete, otherwise errors will occur.
    In DI Release 4.6C2 and DIMP Release 4.71 (and higher),
    follow the following Customizing path:
      Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
        -> Maintenance and Service Processing
          -> Maintenance and Service Notifications
            -> Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and
    Dismantling Parts
    Always maintain the notification type for installation and for
    dismantling.
    Follow the following Customizing path on EA-APPL as of Release 4.7
    Extension Set 2 (and higher):
    follow the following Customizing path:
      Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
        -> Maintenance and Service Processing
          -> Configuration Control
            - > Determine Properties of Notifications for Installing and
               Dismantling Parts.
    Always maintain the notification type for installation and for
    dismantling.
    What must you do if you do not want to use notifications in IE4N?
    1.  You must always maintain the notification type in accordance with
        Customizing described above.
    2.  Create an individual, empty implementation for the BADI
        BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER. To do this, proceed as follows:
    a) Execute transaction SE18.
    b) Specify BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER as the BADI name.
    c) Use the menu <Implementation><create> to create an individual
           implementation with a corresponding name in the Z namespace.
    d) You enter the BADI Builder. Name the implementation, and then
           save and activate your implementation. It is important that the
           methods CREATE, FILL_CUST_DATA, MODIFY, SET_HEADER_MESSAGE, and
           PRINT_NOTIF are empty.
    Note that these steps are required, since the BADI
        BADI_CCM_NOTIF_GENER is equipped with a default source code that
        includes the use of the notification.
    As of ECC600, Note 1368876 replaces error message IEN 126 with error
      message IEN 026, which is more precise.
    Caution:
    o  The error message mentioned above indicates that Customizing is
             missing. To correct the problem, you must perform the relevant
             Customizing settings for transaction IE4N.
    o  As of ECC600, you do not have to activate the DIMP switch (this
             may not be useful).
    o  For more information, see Note 1368876.
    I hope, it helps.

  • Approval Step using custom webdynpro to use it in NWBC

    Hi,
    I have created an webdynpro application for employee approval process. I did configuration for each workflow task , so that it will open up webdynpro screen on each dialog step.  When we click on "Approve" button in NWBC, how my webdynpro applciation responds ( need to update some database tables). Do I need to implement any interface in my custom webdynpro to respond to events from NWBC POWL. Or Do I need to create approval buttons on my webdynpro itself ?  Please suggest me.

    Hi,
    Not sure I understand your question. However, the usual way to get information from a WebDynpro screen back to the workflow is either:
    (1) reserve the workitem, update the workitem container directly (using its unique identifier - the WI_ID) and then complete the workitem
    OR
    (2) raise a terminating event for the workitem from the webdynpro
    cheers

  • Register Custom WebDynpro to FPM (mapper)

    Hi All,
    I have a custom Webdynpro embedded to a Standard WebDynpro, in better words Standard WebDynpro has 3 standard tabs (each tab is a different webdynpro) and I added a 4 tab (custom).
    I want to click Refresh (FPM button) and refresh my custom WebDynpro.
    If I click Refresh the 3 standard tabs  Refresh, but my custom one doesn't.
    How I can register my custom WebDynpro to the mapper of FPM?
    thanks!
    Jason PV

    Try the following code in the init method of your wd.
    * register the mapper to the component
    *  READ TABLE wd_comp_controller->mt_mapper WITH TABLE KEY mapper = wd_this->mo_dodm_ctr_ov_bd TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
    *  IF sy-subrc NE 0.
    **  "add the mapper only one time (if several views use the same mapper)
    *    ls_mapper-mapper ?= wd_this->mo_dodm_ctr_ov_bd.
    *    INSERT ls_mapper INTO TABLE wd_comp_controller->mt_mapper.
    *  ENDIF.

  • Using Federated Security in BizTalk against custom Token Provider and Custom Token

    Hi,
    I as the topic states, I'm trying to get BizTalk to use a Custom Token Provider with custom tokens.
    So I thought this would be rather painless using ws2007FederationHttpBinding but got stuck. The problem is that the service expect soap action and a special structure (se example):
    Request:
    <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:wsc="common.namespace" xmlns:ws="securitytoken.namespace">
       <soapenv:Header>

    Containing Custom Auth header information tags, about 20 or so

       </soapenv:Header>
       <soapenv:Body>
          <ws:SECSSecurityTokenCreate_V1_0InputArgs>
             <ws:SecurityTokenCreateRequest>
                <ws:securityToken><!-- signed SAML assertion --></ws:securityToken>
             </ws:SecurityTokenCreateRequest>
          </ws:SECSSecurityTokenCreate_V1_0InputArgs>
       </soapenv:Body>
    </soapenv:Envelope>
    Response:
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Body>
    <SECSSecurityTokenCreate_V1_0OutputArgs xmlns:ns2="common.namespace" xmlns="tokenservice,namespace">

    </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope>
    Error Message in BizTalk, when I send message via ws2007FederationHTTPBinding to the SOAP service, as expected the soap structure dosent match the expected one from the server, most obvisly is the missing SOAP action and incorrect BODY element.

    My plan to solve this is to try using beahviors added to the "inner" wcf binding that will help reconstruct the message from the standard form that I has, but I'm a bit vorried that I start to solve this and later on I'll have to add custom handling
    for token extraction and handling since the token should be placed in a custom header in the soap envelope with custom namespace =).
    So my question is, could this be solved via sw2007FederationHttpBinding or is an orchestration and some custom code for signing the path forward?
    Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!
    /Mattias

    It's a little tough to use sw2007FederationHttpBinding, I faced similar situation before. :(

  • How to create a custom tag for a custom converter

    In Jdeveloper 11g, I have a project where I have created a custom converter class that impements the javax.faces.convert.Converter class. I have registered the converter with an id in the faces-config.xml file of the project, and the converter works fine by using the <f:converter type="myconverter"> tag. However, the custom converter has a field which I would like to set from the tag itself. Hence, I would like to add an attribute to <f:converter> tag if possible or create a custom tag that has the attribute.
    I have done some reserach and I found that a custom tag can be implemented: I need to create a class which extends from the ConverterTag class or javax.faces.webapp.ConverterElTag class, which I did, but I also need to create ".tld" (tag library) file which defines the tag itself.
    The part about creating the ".tld" file and registring the new tag is what I'm not sure how to do.
    Does someone know how to do this?
    thank you

    Hi frank,
    that's a good document, and it explains how to make a custom converter. I already created the custom converter, it converts a number to any currency pattern. I know java already has a currency converter, but it doesn't support Rupee currency format, and I need that format.
    My converter works, but I would like to pass the pattern of the format through an attribute in a tag. Since f:converter doesn't seem to support that, I created a custom tag which uses my converter, and it enables me to pass a pattern to the converter.
    All of that works, but I need to be able to pass the pattern as an EL expression, and it's not evaluating the expression before passing it to the converter. It just passes the whole expression as a string. I'm thinking It may be something I'm doing wrong.
    this is the tag library definition file:

  • Custom Validator for a Custom Component

    I am having troubling passing values from my custom component
    to my custom validator (via a model). For some reason when the
    validate() function is called for the validator the value parameter
    passed to the validator is not showing the value from my custom
    component.
    I have attached some example code to illustrate.
    Here is my model:
    <mx:Model id="myModel">
    <root>
    <mod>
    <name>{myTextInput.text}</name>
    <date>{myDateField.selectedDate.getTime()}</date>
    <length>{myComp.getLength()}</length>
    </mod>
    </root>
    </mx:Model>
    When I update the value of myTextInput or myDateField the
    model (as sent to the validator) shows the correct value. When I
    change the value of myComp the change is not reflected.
    Is there a particular event (or something) being dispatched
    in the other components to cause the model to get the new value
    that I need to include in my custom component? I am pretty stuck
    and would appreciate any help.
    Many thanks

    Does myComp extend EventDispatcher (or any class which does)?
    You need to flag the getLength() function as bindable and to
    dispatch an event:
    [Bindable('getLengthChange")]
    public function getLength() : Number
    // does whatever it does
    When you update myComp have it dispatchEvent( new
    Event("getLengthChange") ) and I think it will work.
