Customer appointments useless re iPad 2

On Thursday, March 10, I received a phone call from a rep at the local Verizon Wireless store that they would be receiving the iPad  2s the next day, and asking if I'd like to make an appointment to come in and pick one up. So we set up an appointment for 6:00 PM on Friday, March 11. You would think the purpose of the appointment would be so you could just walk in and pick up one that was being held for you, right? WRONG!!!
I got to the Verizon Store at 5:30, just in case my rep finished up early with her 5:30 appointment. The auto sign-in program didn't register the fact that I had in an appointment, and a store employee finally came over  and signed me in. At one point, I managed to snag an employee to confirm that if I had an appointment, they'd be holding my item for me and was told yes. So I didn't worry, thinking my iPad 2 was waiting behind the counter for me. I hung out in the store for awhile, only to hear somebody say the iPads were already sold out. I tried again confirming with someone that one was being held for me since I had an appointment, and was told they were unable to place customer holds on newly released items. I asked what the purpose was of my setting up an appointment, and they couldn't tell me.
Finally, my rep finished up with her other appointment and told me that she had tried pulling iPads for all her appointments, but was told to put them all back. So I asked why I didn't get a phone call, as then I would have known to come EARLY, and stand in line with everyone else and take my chances. She didn't have any kind of answer to that question, and I most definitely did not receive a phone call.
The staff could tell I was upset about making an appointment for absolutely no purpose, and they offered to do what they could to make it right. The only thing they could do was place an order for the iPad, and tell me they'd have it overnighted to be at no cost to me. Fine. They said because of the time, they thought it might be able to ship out on Friday, but that it should ship on Monday at the latest. They said I could check online for a tracking number when I got home. They also said that no flags came up when they placed the order, which meant the item was in stock and would be shipping to me.
Later that evening I tried to check order status online, but got an error message of technical difficulties and to try back later. So I called in, the rep was finally able to locate my order, and said that shipping was showing as process pending. She said I should have it Monday and to call back Saturday morning for the tracking number.
Saturday morning, still the same online error message. I called again, and was still told I should have it Monday. Called Saturday afternoon/evening, encountered a very nice young man, but he gave me the unfortunate news that due to the time the order was placed on Friday, shipping had already ceased for the day, and I never should have been told at all that the item would ship Friday. He looked at the records, and told me that it should definitely ship to me on Monday, and to call back Monday for a tracking number.
I called back around 11:30 eastern time today, and still no tracking number. I explained the whole sorry history to this girl, and told her how frustrated I was that every time I called back to confirm what a previous rep had told me, I was then told I'd been given incorrect information. All she would tell me at first was that it was showing shipping in process, and that once it actually shipped, I'd get it overnight. I went round and round and round, and finally convinced her to check inventory levels of this particular iPad 2 model to verify that Verizon actually had it in stock and that it was not on back order.
She confirmed for me that there were adequate inventory levels and that it was not on back order from Apple. She said to check later this afternoon to see if the shipping department had made it to my order.
I called back a few minutes ago and it's still showing pending. This rep said she would send me a text and let me know whether it did or did not ship today.
I'm very angry that at every step of this process a rep gives me information, then I call in later to talk with another rep, and I've been told the previous rep gave me incorrect information. If this had just happened once, it wouldn't be so bad. But it's been with pretty much every single step of this process.
At this point, if either my local Apple store or Best Buy receives an AT&T version before my Verizon one ships, I'm going to go grab onto the AT&T version, cancel the Verizon order, and buy the AT&T version.
I've been a Verizon customer for so long now I can't even remember, but at least 8 years. I have never received such astoundingly bad customer service in the past. But this experience has been so bad I'm not even sure I want to remain a customer. I'm about ready to switch over to Virgin Mobile when my contract expires in December: $25 a month for unlimited internet/data/tethering of the iPad. I could have 4 phones (mine, husband's, 2 kids) with unlimited data for $100 a month, instead of the $155 I'm paying now for three phones but only mine to have internet access.
Verizon's going to have to work very, very hard to prevent me from doing just that. Save $55 a month and have ALL members of the family able to have unlimited data plans on their Android phones? Why wouldn't I jump at that? There's ample competitor coverage everywhere we'd need to use our phones. I would be updating to an iPhone 4 right now from my enV Touch, but I have unlimited data on my current plan, and I'm not willing to pay yet another $30 a month just to have the same access on an iPhone.
Because right now, I'm very fearful that there really isn't an iPad sitting in a room somewhere waiting on me, and just waiting on the shipping department to get that far through processing the order queue to pack it up and send it on its way to me. I'm very afraid that all the iPads that were originally available have already shipped, and my order is one of those that will be waiting 2-3 weeks for the next shipment of products to arrive from Apple.

honestly make the switch. I am soon. I have been seening this happen alot lately. Verzion looks at as we have the iphone or pads and we can treat them like crap now. There thinking they will stay becuase were better then ATT. I have been looking at other services as well. I am seeing i can get better covrage and save alot more and get a better phone with them. make the switch

  • Over the weekend I added appointments to my iPad calendar, then went to sync the appointments with my Mac and iPod. The calendar in both of those were wiped clean. The calendar with new appointments are on my iPad but it will not sync with the Mac

Over the weekend I added appointments to my iPad, then went to sync those changes to my iCal on my Mac and iPod. The calendars on my Mac and iPod were wiped clean. All the appointments I have on my iPad are there but I am unable to sync with the Mac or the iPod. Help,

Since there was no response I upgraded to Outlook 2010.  All sync problems have been resolved now... but I have to learn a new version of Office.

  • Recurring 'Custom' appointments in Calendar

How do I create recurring appointments such as, 'the second and forth Thursday of each month or the first Thursday of each quarter.  I'm in healthcare and this is frequently the format used for scheduling hospital meetings. Before iOS7, this was a 'Custom' appointment section beyond The Recurring button. I cannot figure out how to do in iOS7. What am I missing or was this feature removed? I use the iPad4 and iPhone 5.

Apparently, it's not possible in the Calendar App any more. I guess you'll have to set it up in the Calendar app in OSX or however you sync calendars. I'm surprising that's gone, it must have not been noticed in the seeding process. Or it was, and the software designers decided that no one cared.
I would suggest mentioning it here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
I'm going to do it, cause that's annoying.

  • Numbers by Apple: Can I create a custom format on the iPad, like on Mac?

    A

    Hi A,
I don't see how you could create it directly in iOS. Any table with custom formatting created on a Mac should import those formats to your iPad.

  • How do I get custom hardware approval for iPad-app?

    Hi!
The company I´m working at is in pre-production on an app project for which we would like to manufacture an optional hardware controller. We have read all the app store review guidelines, and we can´t see any reason as to why the project shouldn't be approved by apple in a future review process. But since it seems risky to start production and manufacturing I also thought that it might be a good idea to run the basis of the project through this forum in case we have missed anything.
The project is most easily visualised as Guitar Hero for iPad, with the added choice to buy an optional guitar controller to play the game. Our concept is actually a bit different than the above description, but I believe that this is the easiest way to describe the project wihout getting too wordy.
Four (4) controllers will communicate simultaneously with the iPad via Bluetooth LE. Since the connection to the iPad is done via Bluetooth LE, and since we do not wish to conform to the specified "standard control" layout, or an "extended control" layout, we do not see the possibility, or the need, to join the MFi program.
So my first precise question would be: Does anyone see any reason as to why we would not be allowed to make our own custom controller using Bluetooth LE, without the MFi approval?
My second question would be regarding selling the app, and the hardware, from the app-store.
We hope to be able to sell the app, together with the custom controller, via the App Store. We imagine it could work in the lines of the customer being presented with the options to buy the app with or without the hardware, and if the customer chooses to buy the app and the hardware he/she will be prompted to provide a shipping address and that information will be sent to our supplier.
The way I understand the guidelines you can't use in-app purchases to sell physical goods, but maybe the app could provide a gateway to our online store?
So my second question would be: Does anyone see any reason as to why we would not be allowed to ship our hardware to the customer after they have bought the application via the App Store? Or are there any other apple approved ways of providing our customers with the hardware via the App Store?
    Thank you for your time!

  • How to test and develop the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer on IPad?

    Hi
I have been tasked with developing and amending the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer as nicely detailed and explained by Derek Lu here:
    https://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/html-default-library.html#
I can see that by removing the reference to libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js in Index.html i am able to "test" on the desktop.
    <!--
        The DPS library/store API.
The include below should be commented out when testing on the desktop.
    <script src="libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js"></script>-->
and that data is bought in via the fulfilment XML feed and the parse method is called on Librarycollection.
I have made the changes to hook up the viewer to bring in some folios that we are developing.
However, although this provides the ability to test and develop on the desktop in one form since we are using JS and Backbone, there are various checks within the provided code to see if ADOBE.isAPIAvailable.
If it is, then the behaviour is different than on the desktop, so once the viewer is packaged up and put on the IPad there is disparity between what you were able to check and test on the desktop version against what is shown on the IPad.
The question therefore is... is there a quick way to develop and test on the Ipad ... it doesnt seem like a viable option to develop blindly on the desktop and then package up the content viewer within Adobe DPS to check how those changes behave on the IPad?
To re-iterate the viewer is to make use of backbone / js example to provide greater functionality and options for customisation.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Dave

Thankyou for taking the time to respond and for providing such detailed articles on adobe dps development, it is much appreciated.
I had completely missed that article and was struggling to find anything useful from googling!

  • We need to cancel / delete further use of B2B custom app installed on ipad. how can we do this. we dont care that the redemption code is reusable. we just want to disable the app on the ipad. how can this be done ?

we need to disable a previously provided b2b custom app on a non supervised ipad. can we cancel the redemption code to stop access to the app for the user who used the code? any help is appreciated.

Wow, sorry to hear of your experience. Seems strange that your disk would just eject like they did. It could be a lot of things but more than likely you just kind of have to start all over.
What I would do is insert your system disk and instead of going immediately to an install I would go to disk utility and erase the drive. That will erase everything on the disk and give you a new blank disk to start with. After that I would try to reinstall the system. Assuming that goes well then you should be restored to where it was when you purchased it. After that you can reinstall all your applications or personal files. I hope you have good backups.
I remember one time I was having a similar problem and don't ask my why I did it but I actually could not get it to install a system. I removed both of my ram sticks, shut the computer down for about 10 minutes including unplugging it from the wall plug, then reinstalled the ram, plugged it back in and started up from the system disk and all worked just fine. To this day I have no idea if pulling the ram helped but I have never had to do it since and for some dumb reason that solved the problem I was having, which is the same problem you are having now. Call it voodoo but it worked.
    Good Luck!!

  • I am still not getting my appointments from the ipad to my desktop on ical, maybe i am doing some thing wrong or is this not possible?

I am still not able to tranfer the appointments made on my ipad cal back to the mac desktop's calender.

Okay, not a problem. It is still possible, but not as simple as logging in.
On 10.6.8 you are running Snow Leopard. If in the future you choose to upgrade to Lion (or Mountain Lion this summer) after updating you will be asked if you want to use iCloud, and once you log in your iCal will be updated.
But as for now, you can still sync your iPad and iCal on your desktop.
    First.
On your iPad, are you using iCloud?
If you're not sure you can double check this in the settings App, under iCloud, it will show you the account name you're using or ask you if you'd like to turn it on.
With iCloud turned on, make sure you have selcted 'yes' to Calendars.
    Second.
Now on to iCal on your Mac.
Select Preferences from the iCal menu
    Go to the 'Accounts' tab
Click on the "+" (this will add the new account, i.e. your iCloud account from you iPad)
Select the 'CalDAV' option under account type.
Enter in your 'User Name' (Your iCloud email address)
    Enter in your iCloud password
    Enter in your 'Server Address'
This is a little complicated for the last step. I found this link that explains it very well.
              http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20111014102515403&msg=15
It will be of the form pXX-caldav.icloud.com (the XX would be numbers of the dedicated server). I was able to determine this value by sending an invite to another one of my other email accounts and clicking the 'Accept' button. This will open the reply in a web browser. If you look at the long URL, at the end there is a pXX value and that's the dedicated server.
Once that is done, the calendar will show up iCal. However, a few minor updates will need to be done so that it behaves just like in Lion's iCal.
Click the 'Server Settings' tab for your new calendar and update the 'Server address' with your pXX-caldav.icloud.com.
Next you need to update the 'Server path'. The way that it was configured is based on the MobileMe configuration and it needs to be updated to the iCloud. The value that MobileMe has is /principals/users/1.XXXXXXXXXX/ (The XXXXXXX is the dedicated number for your account. Update the path to /XXXXXXXXXX/principal/.
Update the 'Port' to 443 and select the 'Use SSL' option if is not selected.
Restart iCal in Snow Leopard. The Calendar will refresh.
And there you go. iCal on your Desktop will sync to your iPad.

  • Customizing Safari Page on iPad

When I open Safari on my iPad, there appears below the search box several website icons - Apple, Yahoo, Disney, and others.  How can I delete these?  They don't seem related to previous search or bookmarks, so I'm stumped.

They are part of the new iOS. 7 version of Safari.
Tap the bookmarks icon (the open book) in the upper right corner of the Safari toolbar, then tap Favorites, them tap the Edit button at the bottom of that window. Tap the red circle to the left of the favorite and the red delet button will pop up. Tap done when you are finished.

  • PC Laptop, MacBook, or what I really want.... The iPad 2

I am a community college student in Eastern North Carolina. This past summer my laptop of several years finally ground it's last gear and since then I have been without a laptop. I do not receive financial aid, or help of any kind, paying for my classes and textbooks so I was going to go to my local Wal-Mart and just buy the cheapest laptop they had so I could complete my assignments. I said as much in one of my classes and my professor who happens to have all Apple Products had a lot to say. Yet I am still unsure of a few things and need some clarifications before I make a purchase (I have read everything I can find, but I am worried I've misread or misinterpreted something):
What I need to be able to do:Write / Create:
    Research Papers
    Excel Documents
    Power Point Presentations
Create, Open, Edit, Save and Send the above type of files so they can be opened, edited, saved and sent on Windows 7 Microsoft Office 2010
Surf the Internet (I am aware that Safari fulfills this need)
Back-up my files, pictures, music, videos, etc. on an external harddrive should (God forbid) something happen to whatever product I purchase. (I feel much safer with a hard copy)
Stream online video(s) and audio to complete assignments for classes.
Carry my product with me all day, every day. (I leave home at 6am and rarely get home before 9pm)
What I want to be able to do:
Keep track of assignments, appointments, and work schedule
Have my music, videos, and pictures with me while I am on-the-go
Watch an occasional movie from iTunes or Netflix without using all of my available memory
Consolidate! (My bookbag is extremely heavy from lugging around textbooks, notebooks, and various items and supplies for both work and school)
PURCHASE eTextbooks (CourseSmart offers only rentals, and as a Psychiatric Social Work major I want to keep some of my psychology and social work textbooks as references later on down the road. Purchased eTextbooks can't be ruined, lost, or stolen like printed textbooks and so seem the smarter choice)
    Questions:
What is the big difference from an Apple Laptop and Apple's iPad 2?What can the laptops do that iPad 2 cannot? I know there are no USB hubs or any ways to install a program from a CD, but with iCloud and the AppStore won't I have everything I will need?
If I decide to buy the iPad 2:
Do I buy the iPad 2 from the Apple Store, Wal-Mart, or Best Buy?Honestly, what is the difference? The Apple Store for Education offers free next day shipping as a "discount" but this is going to be my Christmas present for myself and it is going to have to sit in it's box until December 25 anyways. Or I can always drive 25 minutes to Best Buy and not have to worry about any kind of shipping at all. Everyone's prices are all the same so I see no difference. Am I missing something here??
Which memory size do I buy?
I had a lot of music on iTunes, but have forgotten my password. Since I no longer attend the school which provided the e-mail account I had (stupidly) linked to my iTunes Account there is no way to find out my password. I have 2GB worth of songs on my new iTune's account, and I do expect that to grow.
I do have a lot of pictures, but they are all on Facebook and Google's Picaso Application. I really do not see myself using the iPad 2's cameras much, and not to mention I heard they left the consumer lacking.
I perform a lot of work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; however with iCloud and the 'Dropbox' App I should be able to save my work online, right?
I do not travel much, but when I do travel it is long distances. (Example: 2008 - England for 1 month, 2009 - Ireland for one month, 2010 - Wales and Scotland for one month) Would WiFi  work in the UK, Italy, Greece, India, Peru, Guatemala, etc.? I cannot see how it would be, but I am just now truly jumping on the technology bandwagon.
Can I back-up ALL of my iPad 2's files on a external hard drive via a PC Computer?
    WiFi Only or WiFi+3G?
One mile from my house in every direction some form of high speed internet is offered, but my family and I are stuck using dial-up (shhh.... shhh.... it's okay.... don't cry for me too hard). My HTC Desire cellular phone contracted through US Cellular offers a Mobile WiFi Hotspot and only offers 2GB of service. Can you sign up for a iPad 2 WiFi+3G data plan without having a cellular plan through either AT&T or Verizon? Is the 3G service only offered in the USA?
How to the WiFi Only and WiFi+3G differ? Just being able to get online even when there isn't a WiFi connection available?
Will the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote Apps fulfill my need for Mircosoft 2010 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint?
I must be able to create, open, edit, save, and send work to my professors. I understand that I can accomplish all these things should my professor use an Apple Product; however, what if my professor does not? Will Windows 7 Microsoft 2010 be able to open my work?
Is there a video, book, ebook, or guide on how to use Pages, Numbers, and Keynote? I have never used these applications and from what I have seen it will be quite an adjustment for me.
Can I take music or videos off my iPad should my space begin to run low?I have bought several songs and videos on my iTunes Account, but what if I sync my iTunes Library only to find when it has finished that I have only 3GB of memory left? (Probably a stupid question, but I am trying to cover all angles before making such a purchase)
Can I buy textbooks via the iTunes Store, CourseSmart, or Textbook Application?
I have researched CourseSmart to the best of my ability and it seems that you can only rent eTextbooks. Is the accurate? Not that I am complaining! By renting textbooks on the iPad 2 via the CourseSmart Application the device will have paid for itself in just two semesters. Considering I have at least another 3.5 years of study ahead of me there is no telling just how much money I can save!
Should actually buying eTextbooks not yet be available is there any chance it might be in the near future???
Are there any Stylus Pens available that can write on paper while also writing on the iPad 2?
I am a very heavy-handed person and am scared I will somehow damage (Scratching the screen, accidently pressing down too hard, etc.) the iPad 2 should I try and use a Stylus on the screen.
Should this product not exist: If I were to use an available Stylus (Which are good and which are bad??) would there be a problem with both the Stylus and my hand touching the screen at the same time? When I write my fingers and hand both touch the paper, and so I am worried I will make a useless purchase.
iPad 1 released in 2010. iPad 2 released in 2011. iPad 3 released in 2012?
Does anybody know if Apple is currently working on or close to completing the iPad 3? I do not wish to buy the iPad 2 at the end of December and then have a newer model with better hardware upgrades come out 2 or 3 months later.
I understand that technology advances quickly, but will iPad 2 continue to be the world's leading tablet device or is Apple going to release the next 'world's leading tablet device' soon?
I wish to thank any and every person who responds to this. I know this is a lot of questions, but to me the iPad 2 means paying up a lot of money. I work part-time at a Boys and Girls Club and I have to make every cent count. The iPad 2 seems to be an absolutely amazing device and I truly hope that it will be the best product to fulfill my needs. I must make a decision soon because Santa Claus is on his way!
Again, thank you for your responses and for your time!
    Hunter Shelton

The ipad is certainly no replacement for a computer/laptop.
It is used in conjunction with a laptop/computer. It is simply a big ipod/iphone.
I would not even consider the ipad for your needs.

  • Looking for a calendar that syncs with my other iPad in the cloud?

I have tried numerous calendar/agenda programs, but none sync easily through the cloud with my other iPad.  Could be me being inept.  Trying to input appointments on my iPad at work and sync it with my iPad at home.  Appreciate any help.  Thanks  Peter

Isn't it just called 'Calendar' ?  The one with a red bar across the top.  If you've put other calendar apps on the phone take them off because they'll take over some of the functions of the Apple software and stop it working properly.
Make sure you're using the same account on both iPads.  For instance, you might have one connected to your 'work' account and the other connected to your 'home' account.
If you enter an event into an iCloud calendar using one device, and it's connected to the internet, it should quickly show up on all devices using the same iCloud calendar, as soon as they can connect to the internet.  If that's not happening, something is wrong with your setup.

  • ITunes Radio Stations on Remote iPad App

How do you display iTunes Radio stations, including custom stations in the iPad Remote app? I'd prefer to see large tiles the way albums are displayed. I've seen them displayed that way previously, but now I'm stuck with only able to show this category list?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

I just stumbled upon this problem too and found that if you press edit on the "more" menu and drag the radios icon to the toolbar, it stays there. I played with this for a while and it doesnt disappear.

  • How do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipad?

I have several custom playlists that I have made and they are in itunes on my computer under the playlist section. They are underneath the four standard playlists: classical, music videos, my top rated and 90s music that come already set up. These have a different logo, a musical note. I want to get these custom playlists onto my ipad along with the files necessary to play them. How do I do this?
    Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8) ipad2

Start iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad to your computer.
Select you iPad in iTunes on your computer.
Select the Music tab in the row of tabs presented.
Select the music you want on your iPad.
    Click on Sync or Apply.
Note that on your iPads iTunes is for purchasing music. Use the Music app to listen to your synced music.

  • How can I make a button that will work on iPads? (animate only on Mousedown)

I am making an interactive page in Adobe Edge Animate. It will double as a low-mem website and also as an iPad page and is part of a larger flash website which is highly animated.
This website sports two kinds of buttons; the ones linking to a label in the timeline and the ones linking to a URL.
The problem is that I do not want the buttons to work on mouseover because that will be completely useless on iPads and similar devices. That is why I want the thing to animate on mousedown.
What I did initially was to load the on and off states of the button to my timeline and made them into a symbol, after that I made two labels inside of that symbol; one for the on state and one for the off state. Below the first label there is a "sym.stop("ONstate");" action  and then my off-state button graphic has a mousedown "sym.stop("skipON");" action. Then comes the tricky part, I wanted to reference the label on which it should land in a onclick action on a root level. It didn't work at all. I used "_root.stop("label");". As you can see my programming abilities are extremely poor, I'm a graphics guy.
Next, I decided to leave the mousedown action inside the symbol and do the onclick action on the main timeline, which did work for the most part, however it behaved weirdly. First off, the mousedown action worked perfectly, but not at the same time with the onclick action; You would click on the mousedown thing and it would stop on the frame and then you would need to click it a second time to go to the label.
There must be either something  I'm doing wrong or this function is not supported by the Edge Animate beta. But my programming abilities are so poor to pinpoint the real cause of the problem.
    Can anyone help me please?

    Hi, redcrowdesign-
Part of the problem is that you're using ActionScript syntax in a JavaScript environment.  Instead of using _root, you can access the Stage object.  If your symbol is only one level down, you can use sym.getParentSymbol().stop("label");.  If you have a nested symbol, you may find sym.getComposition().getStage().stop("label"); more effective.
That being said, you might want to rethink your UI model and focus your iPad interactions on the touch events, which are much more performant than the mouse events.
    Hope that helps,
    -Elaine

  • Is it possible to transfer photos from the iPad that are not in camera roll but in albums I have created?

Hi there. can someone please tell me there is a way of doing this because I was on the phone to 121 for two hours and they couldn't help in the way I wanted.
I have a customer who took his iPad on holiday and with a cable adapter used it to back up the photos from his campact camera.
Whilst he was out there he took the time to separate all the photos into albums using the standard iPad 'Photos' app. There must be 50 or so albums in there.
So now he wants to get those photos off but keep the organisation the app has allowed him to do but if we plug it up to either his Macbook pro or Windows neither the hundreds of photos or thier albums are nowhere to be seen.
The only way I can find to get them out using Macbook or Windows is to transfer photos back into the camera roll or to share them via the cloud but both ways lose the album organisation.
Obviously if there is no way to do this (which seems bonkers for a modern device) then we shall have to painstakingly do just that. It would be nice not to have to endure the hours of work is all.
    Thanks in advance!!!
