    I have been unable to access my purchased music on my new computer (the old one crashed before I could back up my purchased itunes music). I clicked "check for purchases," and received one of several television shows I purchased and NONE of the dozons of songs and albums. When I clicked "check for purchases" again, a box came up that said "all purchases have been downloaded for this account." Does Apple really not allow you to recover your purchased music in this situation? Does Apple really put profits ahead of customer satisfaction to the extent that they've eliminated phone customer service for itunes altogether? Well, I know the answer to the second question from research is yes. How sad. But can anyone help me with the first Q? Is all my purchased music really gone permanently? Thanks. -Matt

    Hi, Matt.
    Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups.
    That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form at the bottom of this page:

  • Lack of realtime customer service for iTunes Store

    I just tried sync'ing my iPod. I was thwarted because I suddenly got a message saying that 590 songs would be taken off my iPod because they were suddenly not authorized unless I entered my password. Note, both my husband & I have iTunes account & we have authorized each other to share our music. Neither of us has had any reason to change our passwords or accounts nor have we bought new iPods requiring authorization.
    I am able to access iTunes store over my network well enough to see plenty of advertising of music I don't give a **** about. I want MY music, for which I have already paid, back. But somehow the networks don't work well enough to accomplish that. I cannot, apparently, access my account or my husband's account well enough to authorize music. It's not even clear to me which account iTunes is looking for. I have changed my password twice now -- sometimes iTunes puts up my husband's ID & says I need to enter that password. I can't change his password & he is working so I don't really have the ability to contact him.
    I am constantly told that there is an unidentified error at the iTunes store. I have rebooted the computer & exited & restarted my iMac several times.
    Basically, I have approximately $600 worth of music that I paid for long ago & which I cannot access. iTunes has no means of putting me in touch with an actual human being to help me figure this out. More appropriately, I want my accounts put back to the way they were as of midnight last night.
    That's lousy customer support. I work in a cubicle farm & my iPod is the main way I am able to concentrate. I don't appreciate being screwed over like this.

    Neither of us has had any reason to change our passwords or accounts nor have we bought new iPods requiring authorization.
    iPods are not authorized or deauthorized.
    Computers are authorized to play songs from iTunes accounts.
    To authorize your computer, go to iTunes menu Store -> Authorize, then enter the account name and the password.
    If for somne reason it's not playing purchased songs, deauthorize the computer and then do it again and then Authorize it.

    Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you are not talking to iTunes Support here.
    If you have a problem with your rental then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :

  • Rate Apple customer service for me

    I'm a new user and finding Apple customer service very un-responsive to resolving a problem I had with an unrecognized charge to my account. Account has been disabled and I have no access while they "investigate." I have given new credit card but that isn't speeding things up. All for a $1.29 charge! I'm not impressed but stuck with them if I want to keep my iPhone! In general, is there usually satisfaction with Apple? Or is there general dissatisfaction with their customer svc responses?

    Apple has been rated #1 in customer service for a few years now.
    With millions of iTunes customers, ther are bound to be some that have issues.
    Usually they are pretty good about getting things sorted out. Respond to the previous email you received and give it 48 hours for a response.

    You are wasting your time. Registration always has been optional and those pages are long gone. Simply don't bother.

  • Bad customer service for my printer

    Today, I called HP customer service for an ink failure issue of my printer. I knew that the printer had out of warranty so I want to ask question how to reset the printer. But the customer service representative told me that I am a valued customer so he will assist my problem over the phone fully without any charges. I really appreciated two attempts (Cleaning, Power reset) and he would give me two options of my problem.
    Those were basically replacement plans that were $30-$60 less than the new one. Of course, those plans are for the manufactured reconditioned with extra sets of ink cartridges and 2 years warranty if I pay another $1. I couldn’t accept this offer at that time because I need to discuss with my wife, but instead I asked customer representative to call me on later tonight. The customer representative supposed to call me later tonight, but I didn’t get any phone call from HP, so I called HP and I was really surprised how HP change their words. I argued around 2 hrs with switching my phone call to 4 different person, and a lot of waiting time, asking that I got offered. I knew that HP would record all the conversation and never response me about this.
    Finally, I found that HP offered me scratched and cosmetic wear printer with guaranteed working. The hardware supervisor gave me this offer and made sure that I am aware of that by reading conditions of printer. Later, I asked for the return policy, and she give me 3 business days. Who is going to buy a $50 less priced printer with a lot of scratches? I know that another sets of ink cartridges will worth to have this offer, but I didn’t because I will disappoint when I first saw the product.
    I totally disappointed of customer service how HP changes their offers and words, resulting me wasted more than five hours, including convincing my wife. I regret that I bought so many HP products (computers, printers, and tablets) I will never buy HP products, and I will not recommend HP products because of worst customer service.

  • COMPLAINT: Nonexistent customer service for hacked iTunes account!

    Since I couldn't find a "Customer Service" forum, and there is no useful email address, support form or phone number to address this issue, I'm posting this here where I hope someone can actually help.
    My wife's iTunes account was compromised within the last few days, and whoever took over her account racked up HUNDREDS of dollars in fraudulent charges. She was able to get PayPal to terminate its connection with iTunes so that no more charges could be made, and she was able to reset the password on her account using the web form. But we have been completely unsuccessful in getting ANY help from Apple on this issue.
    We tried contacting 1-800-MY-APPLE and tried several support options in that system. The first time we managed to reach a human, he HUNG UP on us. The second time, my wife was told there was nothing he could do, and that she would have to fill out an online form. Said form gives no indication of how long it will take to get a response.
    Tonight, my wife got a response from someone at a support center connected to Apple, who apparently CANNOT write in coherent English, and who is saying he cannot find any fraudulent charges on her account. Needless to say, she is not at all pleased, and neither am I.
    Apple, please have a COMPETENT customer support representative contact me IMMEDIATELY. (You should be able to see my contact information in my AppleID account.) Or give me a contact phone number or email address to which we can get someone who knows what they're doing.

    More's the pity. If nothing else, I want other users to be aware that we've already tried that support form and have gotten no support from Apple. Protect your accounts by changing your passwords if you haven't already, because if someone breaks into your account and makes unauthorized purchases, you won't be able to count on anyone from the company to help you.

  • LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE by iTunes/Apple

    I have just about had it with all the problems everyone apparently is having about not being able to have iTunes connect with Music Store. Is no one from Apple or iTunes reading these? I have been up for three solid evenings trying to figure out what to do, all the while, reading these postings. No one has responded to emails I've sent the company. I've done many of the things others have tried - to no avail. I am a Customer Service Manager with a large Financial company in the Mid West, and this simply would not be tolerated from my own employees. My 12-year-old doesn't understand why she can't download any music on her Christmas Present. Was this purchase a mistake???

    In response to "does Apple read these messages” The answer is no, companies to not reads these “user-discussion” threads to help people. That's the whole purpose of these boards, for people to help each other out WITHOUT getting Apple's tech support involved. This is a good thing because most people get there answered resolved through these boards without having to tie up the tech support lines. There are exceptions when the boards will not be able to fix everyone’s problems (such as your case)
    It seems very likely you are doing something wrong. If every single user could not play songs on their ipod, Apple would not be in business anymore. Good luck getting your ipod to work.
