Customers running Forms over Internet (WAN)

I am looking for customers running forms over internet (wan). I read the the customer's testimonials at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ids/customers/index.html but
I didn't find any case about running forms application over internet.

Aviana,
Running a Forms application over the internet can be done, but there are a few things you need to consider before you do this. First, all of your users MUST be on High Speed. As Francios eluded to, Forms applications are Java Applets. Therefore, each person using the application will receive all of the Java Archive (.jar) files used by your program in order for it to run on their computer. Each time a user runs your application, the application will either download the initial set of .jar files or it must validate the .jar files that were previously downloaded to ensure they are current. This can be extreamly slow over dial-up and even on High-Speed line that are less than 256 kbps. Additionally, a user must either have the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed our they will need to have Oracle's Jinitiator installed. Past experience showed this was a major trouble spot for Dial-up users.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is make sure there are no better alternatives before going down this path. I worked on an application like this because management thought it was the cheaper way to accomplish what was needed. Four years later, after a lot of user complaints and a lot of time was spent supporting users, the application was rewritten from the ground up as a pure web app because it became too much to support and there were too many user complaints.
Just a thought. :-)

  • Running forms over network

    Hi to all,
I am Oracle Developer , and I want to move rapidly to java , I have a little knowledge on java language, so I have certain questions, one of them:
If I design some forms by java e.g : to input emps data, so can I run it over a network, I mean can I share thia app for many clients for one data source for example 'Oracle database'
    THUNX for reading...

If I design some forms by java e.g : to input emps
data, so can I run it over a network, I mean can I
share thia app for many clients for one data source
for example 'Oracle database' As in "Oracle Forms"? Then that has nothing to do with java - they do what they do.
Or forms in general? If so yes you can do that. It is going to take a lot of work for someone who has not java experience though.

  • REQUIREMENT FOR RUNNING FORMS ON INTERNET

    hello
sir, my forms are connected to db, and oc4j instance gets started and i am able to run these forms on my nearby client machine, whereas i am not able to run on other clients machine who are away from me i.e. the clients who are 4-5 km distance away from the server, what can be the real problem. pls tell the documentation to be referred for this reason.
    thanks for an early solution.

Do you only have the OC4J component running or did you install the Oracle Application Server? The OC4J Instance that is installed with the Developer Suite is ONLY for running the form on your client/workstation. To "serve" the form to users over a network/internet you must have an Application Server setup to "serve" the application. As to the documentation, it can be found right here on OTN (see following link [Oracle Forms Services 11G Documentation|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/index.html]).
If you are running an earlier version than 11G, then select the appropriate link on this page to the version you are using eg; 10g R2, 10g R1, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle forms 11g running forms on internet explorer error

Hi , this is abhishek I am new to oracle forms 11g . My question is that when I run the forms 11g on internet explorer it shows an error . The error is too many tries.
first I like to clarify that before running the forms i start the weblogic server ,along with admin server for weblogic and opmn managed components, i give the user name and password to start the weblogic server, everything starts smoothly . even I have jre 1_6_29 installed to start the servlet . Main problem starts when the java runs the internet explorer browser then a box appears asking for user name and password and database connect string , then after putting the username and password it again asks for the username and password. It happens three times and after that an error appears in a dialog box which shows too many tries . I also checked the net configuration asistant with the local net service name configuration there it shows the service name which is orcl.Home and then TCP --->Host name is localhost with 1521 as standard port number --> yes perform the test and the result is written connecting test successful . what is wrong with the instance , the http listener is working perfectly then why this error is coming, is there something to do with the browser , but the browser is supporting java very well .. please help

I have found the file but it does not have any path except forms_path,oracle_home,webutil_config,etcCurious, my default.env had the following default TNS_ADMIN entry:
    # TNS Entry to locate the database
TNS_ADMIN=D:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\configI modified this entry to point to the location where my tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files are located. I use a generic location and share them accross installed Oracle products rather than maintain seperate copies of these files in each Oracle Home. For example, I commented out the original entry and added a new one.

  • Difference between Share Disks over WAN vs. over Internet using Bonjour?

I would like to find out the Difference between selecting the "Share Disks over WAN" option only vs also selecting the additional "Share disks over Internet using Bonjour" option. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you can access drives plugged into your AirPort extreme base station from outside the network by typing in the IP address of the modem/base station in the "Connect to Server" dialogue on the Finders "Go" menu (or press Command+K when in Finder). You can get the base station IP by opening the AirPort Utility from your utilities folder, and click "manual setup" at the very bottom of the summary tab should be the IP address given the base by your modem.
As long as you have "Share Disks over WAN enabled" when you connect using the IP from another location you will be prompted to authenticate to the AirPort Base station and if authentication is successful you will be prompted to mount a disk (the disk plugged into your AirPort base station should be the only available disk to mount).
Keep in mind you must give out the Base Station password unless you allow guest connections to the disk.

  • DNS: Client can't connect because .local domain isn't in DNS. How can I connect over the WAN to server.domain.local?

So my 2012 server is set up on the LAN with a .local domain name.
Remote Desktop Services are set up and remoteapp stuff works fine on the LAN.
I've set up port forwarding so I can connect to the server over the WAN too, but remoteapp stuff is a bit different. I can connect to the server by specifying the correct IP address. Giving a Web browser the address
    https://serverIPAddress/RDWeb
lets me get the login screen and see the range of apps for me to run. I select one, the connectoid is downloaded correctly (in Chrome) and I click on the downloaded connectoid.
Unfortunately, rather than pursuing the sensible IP-address approach that I started with, the connectoid has been given the server's name on the LAN:  server.domain.local. Clearly, the client machine tries to look this up but DNS hasn't heard of
it because it's a .local address.
I cannot be the only one to have come across this apparent oversight on Microsoft's part. Any ideas as to how this can sensibly be overcome? Obviously, I could put the IP address translation into every client's hosts file (and I've done this and shown it
works) but I've got too many clients to mess about like this. Anybody know 'the Microsoft way' to fix this?
Thank you for checking this out -- I am confident the details of the problem are completely specified in this query but, if I'm wrong, please ask.
    Many thanks again,
    Biffo

  • No check box for "Share disks over Ethernet WAN port"

I've recently bought an AirPort Extreme and have no problem on connecting to Internet and sharing disks. But my "AirPort Utility" looks different from other people's, and I feel uncomfortable about it.
I saw many users' AirPort Utility screen shots, but all of them have "Share disks over Ethernet WAN port" check box under Disks > File Sharing tab. But mine doesn't; at the place where that check box should exist I have "Advertise disks globally using Bonjour" check box, which is usually under "Share disks over Ethernet WAN port" check box.
I think this is very unusual. Does anybody have the same problem?
    Here is the my screenshot:link

    hi,
i have developed an application over internet for video transmission,
from client to server the transmission is good but when from server(Static IP server) to client i am not getting the streaming using public IP
but i am recieving the control information like system info

    wot is the problem here

    Hi Seriphan,
    Thank you for allowing me to access your SA500.  I noticed lots of ethernet WAN errors (eth1) in your error log, like the ones that follow;
WARN Kernel eth1: Using 10Mbps with software preamble removal
WARN Kernel eth1: Using 10Mbps with software preamble removal
WARN Kernel size of this packet is lesser than minimum length
I also noticed that you manually set the WAN speed to 100 Full duplex. This means that any autonegotiation process between the Service providers xDSL modem and my SA520 will fail.
The service providers modem seems to be running at 10meg probably half duplex and you have manually set your WAN port speed to a  fixed speed of  100 meg and  full duplex, as per your screen capture below.
By setting a port  to a fixed speed you without knowing it turn off the autonegotiate process.  Unless you configure the xDSL modem to 100 full duplex you will have WAN connection issues.
Please select auto in the SA520  and allow the SA500 to autonegotiate with the ethernet peer, which just happens to be a xDSL modem..
    regards dave

  • How to control and display video from IP camera using ActiveX control over Internet.

    Hello,
I need to control my IP cameras over the internet. I need to log into the cameras and then display the video.  There's an ActiveX control registered on the computer and works fine with IE to access and control the cameras. Controlling the cameras using IE works fairly well, but there are some quirks that I'd like to eliminate by using my own custom code.
Has anyone created a vi that controls a Foscam FI8905W over the Internet? I’ve attempted, but I keep getting a catastrophic failure when I try to call ManagementConnect Method in the DVM_IPCam2 ActiveX Control Module V1.0. I'm not sure whether I need to establish an IP connection with the cameras first, or allow the ActiveX control to establish it for me.
Some example code would be greatly appreciated. Running LabVIEW 2011 on a Win7 32bit.  Even some code used to control a similar device using ActiveX over Internet would be helpful.

I have an example vi for interfacing to the foscam activex.
I plan on using mouse click events within the activex window to trigger the PT function.
I only have the basic up/down/right/left directions and not the down-right/down-left/up-right/up-left in the enum.  You can load the camera's web page and view the source to see the Java script code that uses the activex control.  There are definitions for the other directions.
I had to mark the control as "Disabled" to keep click events from going to the activex control.  If I double click the control, it goes full screen.  If I then click on it to get out of full screen mode the video never returns or returns to the wrong spot in the VI.

  • REMOTE RECORDINGS OVER THE WAN IN CCX 7

    We have a customer
with CCX 7 local agents and recording services ( BUT NO QUALITY MONITORING)
Normally records all local agents calls ( colocated with CCX.
Now customer has remote agents via WAN and needs to record their conversations.
According specifications and PDI case the sutiationis:
"This deployment model can support silent monitoring and recording for agents at any WAN-connected site by using desktop monitoring. (Refer the Cisco Unified CCX Software and Hardware Compatibility Guide for a list of phones that support desktop monitoring). It can also support SPAN port monitoring for agents on the VLAN segment local to Cisco Unified CCX server. This deployment model does not incorporate additional remote Monitoring components, so silent monitoring and recording is not possible for agents who are using the Cisco IP Phone Agent at remote sites. Similarly, silent monitoring and recording is not possible for agents at remote sites who are using phones that do not support desktop monitoring."
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_7_0/design/guide/uccx70srnd.pdf
    page 4-6
The list of phones not supported for desktop monitoring is listed in the compatibility guide.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
In other words CCX can support "silent monitoring and recording for agents at any WAN-connected site by using desktop monitoring"
But assume you use an IP Phone that supports desktop monitoring
AS RECORDING OPTION WITHOUT QUALITY MONITORING NEEDS MAC ADRESS OF AGENT how can CCX record agent calls taking into accoutn that MAC address is lost when traversing the WAN ...
So the question for this dsicussion is :
IS QUALITY MONITORING THE ONLY WAY TO RECORD REMOTE AGENTS OVER THE WAN OR ARE TEHRE OTHER OPTIONS WITHOUT IT??
    Pease reply to [email protected]

It is possible without QM. When using desktop monitoring, the phone is configured to Span to PC port. The agent must be running CAD and the PC running it must be attached to the PC port on the phone. CAD sees the spanned packets from the phone and then forwards them to the recording service on the CCX server. The big gotcha is that the NIC in the PC must not discard 802.1q-tagged packets. If the NIC discards them instead of forwarding them into the NDIS stack, CAD will never see them. Sometimes this takes a Google search and a registry setting change to fix if it doesn't work at first.

  • Form Builder crashes whenever I try to run form locally

    Hello,
I am using Oracle Developer Suite 10g (Forms 9.0.4.0.19) on Windows XP SP3, IE8.
Whenever I try to execute (run) form from Forms Builder locally Forms Builder just crashes (get error: Oracle Forms Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close ).
    Any help please
    Best regards.

First, the Builder crashing has nothing to do with what browser you are using. The Builder crashing is a Builder issue. It is possible that the Builder is crashing due to a corrupted installation or permissions issue at the OS level. It could also be a bug. So, as I mentioned already, it may be time to upgrade to a more 21st century version of the product or at least consider applying a current patch to what you have. Patches are only available to customers with access to MyOracleSupport.

  • Is there a way to connect to my Time Capsule over internet from an iPad

    Hi,
Could anybody please help me configure how to connect to my Time Capsule 3TB over internet from my iPad.
I would like to use it as Cloud station over internet.
I was able to connect from my Mac on both "over internet and from my local network" using "Back to My Mac"
I was able to conncet also from my iPad from my local network.
I bought some file browser Apps which enable iPad to connect as "afp, smb" but I could'nt manage to make it work?
I made all the setting required: Enabling NAT Port Mapping, File Sharing, Sharing Disk over WAN, but without success?!
Shouldn't Apple includes and supports iPad to make such connection like "Back to My Mac" protocol.
I believe that Time Capsule is a great product, but I think Apple should consider more of software compatibilities.
    Thanks,,

    Thanks Bob,
I already tried FileBrowser and I did all the steps as per the instruction on their webpage, but alwasy give error message.
Could it be that "smb" protocol blocked by my internet provider.
I am connecting to internet using DHCP.
    Many thanks
