Customize the subject of a mail

I want to change the subject of an alert functional email, but I cant find where can I do that.
Searching in the forum, I notice that I cant do this in BPM; instead I go to ALRTCATDEF TCode and surprise!!!! I found tecnical and functional alerts, but in the "long and short text" on the Message title I found something that doesnt appear in the subject mails.
Where can I found this? I just want to add 3 chars at the end of the subject and I cant understand how...

That is what I tried to do but the title doesnt match with the mail subject (the mail subject says "Process xxxx" where xxxx is a large number, and the message title says another thing)
Any other idea? Maybe this is not from XI, Im thinking that this is from the delivery system of outlook, but I'm not sure.

On the subject of bespoke mail clients (with BTInt...

The clients I'm referring to are WindowsLiveMail and Outlook. We have a poor internet conenction (connectivity is pretty constant but speed varies between 1-3Mbps). We exchange quite alot of email (some with reasonable sized attachments).
The question I have is with WindowsLiveMail. Quite often we end up with mail sitting in the Outbox. Getting these to send involves one of:-
1. restart WLM
2. move items from Outbox to Drafts/Inbox whereever, and resend
I have checked that the server timeouts are at their maximum. So WLM is a free product. The question is will Outlook (paid for) perform more reliably?
EDIT: I have confirmed our SMTP settings as "port 465 and SSL with mail.btinternet.com"
EDIT2: Oh I see reports of issues with Outlook. Oh blimey, sounds like could be releated to BT mail migration.

Mail changes itselve the subject of my inbox mails

I do not know what, but the Mail changes the subject of my inbox some mail and notes.
Is very random, so change the subject of any mail or not receive, and also during the day change the same mail several times... It happens in MobileMe, gmail, etc...
It works like a virus, but maybe is my fault.
The good thing is that nothing is changed in the cloud.
I do not if anybody is going to answer, I am trying to find info since 4 of July 20011 but I have not find anything yet.

This sounds like it may be an indexing problem. Are these two account being accessed as IMAP?
Have you ever forced a reindexing, and if so, did you remove the IMAP account folders prior to doing so?

Anyone know how to customize email subject generated by Alerts from BPM

I'm generating Alerts from BPM. However, the Alerts generated this way has subject title with - Process and an id number like this 'Process 000000126930'.
I want to create custom subject line / email title.
I tried by creating and using container variables in the Alert category for the title and it did not work.
Any ideas on how to do this.

Hi Parimala,
You can use the external definition Mail strcuture (Mail.xsd) provided by SAP for XI. You can map your structure with the Mail structure where you can create any subject line and any content as well, depending upon your interface configuration.
Pls find the attached, Mail.xsd. Customize the subject, to, from etc. fields and populate the content branch element to send any message via the email.

Je trouve absurde d’avoir renseigné les cases “Objet et message”, car chaque fois je dois effacer votre texte pour y renseigner le mien.
Cela n’existait pas avec Adobe SendNow !

In Adobe Send, select Personalized Link after you select the file to send. Then, you can customize the Subject and Message as you'd like.

How t o get the sunject in reciever mail using mail adapter

hi all.
i had created a file to mail scenario .
in archive mapping program it was defined to which mailids of reciever side should be mailed and the body of the mail.
but i just want to know if there are any settings under reciever mail adapter to get the subject uner reciever mails and an increment value (the number of times that the mailget posted in reciever mails) to be displayed in subject line of mail after descryption of the subject.

you have to use a UDF in which you define a Container

You can make a counter which increments every time you call the UDF.
Use the UDF in your mail package with the subject.

I have a requirement as you describe. A standard LSO notification (a prebooked course has been scheduled) is displayed in the portal and I need it to be automatically posted to the recipients through email.

Changing the image associated with mail messages (iphone 5)

Hello!
I have an iPhone 5 and use Hotmail as it's default mail send account (I know I know!). I also have several other mail accounts on the phone but use hotmail as the default as it is my most common account. For hotmail messages (and none of the others accounts), a little image appears beside the subject line on mail sent from this account. It is an eagle's head (one of those mac stock images). I'm trying to replace this with another pic, or just remove it altogether. I have a different image selected in all user/contact/mail account info on my imac that the phone syncs to, in my iCloud account, and in my contacts and mail accounts on the phone itself. Still the darn eagle image shows in the subject line for hotmail messages from the phone. Any advice on getting rid of the annoying eagle would be greatly appreciated!

Click on a .jpg file (in Finder) and Get Info (Apple-I). Click the Open With dropdown menu, select Preview, then click the Change All button.

EDIT: My fault - should have read your post all the way through and I would have seen that you did something very similar, but different in that you used the contextual menu and the checkbox. However, you might try the steps I suggested. I just created a new jpg in Photoshop and saved it, a double-click opens it in PhotoShop, then I changed Open With to Preview in the Get info dialog, and now a double-click opens it in Preview. Note that Preview was on the drop-down list, no need to select Other...
If this fails, you can try rebuilding or resetting your LaunchServices database using Onyx. LaunchServices is what associates file types with applications; rebuild can fix problems (such as the one I just noticed - my Open With drop-down in Get Info shows one Preview, but two Firefoxes, three Safaris and four RealPlayers!!). Resetting the database will kill all associations, so each time you open a new file type you'll be asked to pick an app, until the database is repopulated).

How to customize or change the subject of the mail send throu SM36

HI,
i m using SM36 to Schedule some of reports and send the output of those reports as an attachement to particular email ids.
It is working fine people are receive mails with an output of the report as an attachement , but the subject is coming like this
"Job PRODUCTION PLANING REPORT, Step 1" where "PRODUCTION PLANING REPORT" is the job name . What i want is the Subject should be only my Job Name "PRODUCTION PLANING REPORT" the Prefix Iob and the Sufix Step 1, should not appear in the subject. How can i achive this ?

In SM36, under the 'General Data' area, the answer is right there. Click on the Spool list recepient button and place the e-mail recepient in the box. It looks like only one entry can be entered there so you may want to have a distribution group setup accordingly for multiple recepients
My view is as per the line i can see only .html attachment only you can send...
See Mr NA. take intitiative and tell the clients....Clearly that if we schedule thtrough SM36 then we have limited funcitonalities like you can't attach the excel version's specially and Subject issue what you are discussing...
So as of now my suggestion is Using the FM (if it is version 6.0 Ecc prefer using classes....) You can write extra funcitionality to report to send via Email

Service Desk Mail - Modify the subject -adding ticket number and descriptio

Hello,
I have activated the automatic sending of email when a new ticket arrives into the Service Desk. I am using the standard notifcation smartform However all the mails arrive in the inbox with the same subject, so no possibility of making a quick identification of the ticket.
I heard that is possible to add additional fields in the subject of the mail using some "&" parameters. However I do not have a clue where to modify and what type of & parameters are available. Is that I need to copy and modify the smart form somewhere??

Hi Esteban,
The subject line corresponds to the name of the smart form that you can maintain in the "description" field in the sap form builder. you can add dinamyc parameters to the subject by using the placeholder "&". e.g.: & | Action Required.
On se24, copy the class CL_DOC_PROCESSING_CRM_ORDER into the customer workspace (ZCL_DOC_PROCESSING_CRM_ORDER). then edit it and navigate to line 185 and change the following:
REPLACE '&' WITH ls_orderadm_h-object_id INTO ls_output_options- tdtitle.
Other example to use as subject:
Object ID + Priority + Description
Field description value: &1 | &2 | &3
On the class:
REPLACE '&1' WITH ls_orderadm_h-object_id INTO ls_output_options- tdtitle.
REPLACE '&2' WITH ls_activity_h-priority INTO ls_output_options- tdtitle.
REPLACE '&3' WITH ls_orderadm_h-description INTO ls_output_options- tdtitle.

Multiple drag emails from Mail to a finder window and for it to name the files as the subject heading

I have been using Mac's now for about 10 years and this is my first problem.
I have recently moved into an office that use PC's with a Windows server.
I have set up the network to transfer files and view the windows server and it works fine.
I have a problem in that my colleagues on PC need to be able to view my emails which I send and receive using Mail. They therefore need to have logical title names and the date sent and ideally who to or from. I view them and archive them using Mail which is fine for me.
I understand about the archiving and copying of mailboxes but this gives every email the un-fathomable title name 9944847 etc.
I can get round the problem by dragging and dropping every email I send and receive individually and it will automatically give it a more logical title of the subject heading however the date is when it was dragged not when sent. This is a pain if I am away or forget to save an email for a day or two and then the date is inconsistent.
Is there a way to batch copy emails from Mail to a finder window and for it to name the files as the subject heading or to archive the files in a similar way so they retain the detailed information my colleagues require.
And no I can not get to all change to Mac and I don't really fancy using Outlook, Entourage or Parallels.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. If you get a warning that the file is in use when you try to empty the Trash, log out and log back in.

How to stop the subject field displaying in list of mail?

Sorry for the spelling I am dyslex..
I like the new layout all virtical in mail 7 BUT in the list of messages it shows the "subject field" how do I stop this field from showing up?
In the clasic view I can change what fields show up (menu "View" - "Message Attributes" and click the fields I want to see) the only problem with the "clasic" view is the horzontial arangments of two of the panels. I used to use "widemail" plugin to get the arangment of panels in the mail program in Snow Leopard.
Apple have made a big thing of seeing the "subject field" in the mail list pannel but for me I have the preview panel open and so the subject and most of the message is displayed there two so I see this info in two places and it all looks a bit crouded.
Can any one help and in the mean time I will be posting this in the feedback site.
