Customized Skins in Non-English Projects
I have a customized skin that when used non-English projects,
it omits special characters in the buttons for Contents and Index.
I didn't create the skin so I don't have Flash. Any suggestions on
how to fix the buttons to display the missing characters?
If she's no longer with the company and she was using Flash,
could it by chance be a company license for Flash that you could
take over...?
Rick referred to the LNG file, which exists in both the
source files and the output files. Do the copying and pasting with
the source versions. (The output version will be overwritten from
the source version every time.)
If Rick's suggestion doesn't work, the only other thing I can
think of would be to check the .fla files themselves in Flash. The
person who tweaked the files may have done something to the dynamic
text fields for the button labels. If you can get a copy of Flash,
you could check two things on the button label text field
(double-click the Label object twice to get to this point):
1. See if "Use device fonts" is selected in a dropdown on the
left side of the Properties panel. This selection won't let you
embed fonts. If it's selected, try #2 below instead. If it isn't,
select it, export the movie, and put it in your output files.
2. Change "Use device fonts" to "Anti-alias for animation."
Click the Embed button. Select every option with Latin in it, and
click OK. Export to a movie, and put it in your output files.
Note that you'd have to do this for each button that isn't
displaying the characters properly.
Hope this helps,
Ben

Customer conversion for non-english language
Hi:
We have a requirement to convert customer data from lagacy system to Oracle EBS supporting English and Non-English languages. Our conversion programs for english is working fine but we are not sure about the approach for other language converions. Can anyboody share the knowledge if faced similar requirements?
Thanks /SantanuI believe your conversion programs should work regardless of the language the data is stored in, as long as the database and Apps use UTF8 characterset. To the code, data is data, whether it is in English or in another language. Your approach should be to test your conversion programs in test instances and tweak them as necessary. Are there specific concerns you have with using data in other languages ?

Cannot open projects or import custom skins into RH*
Hi,
I just got a new laptop and I'm unable to open ANY projects or import custom skins into RH8. I was on 8 previously, but I cannot open my projects nor can I import skins. I click on Skins>import>choose the skin, then nothing. It's like it's not even recognizing I'm doing anything. Any suggestions?
Thanks! If you can't open a project, how are you getting to the File > Import > Skin menu item? Also can you give us some additional information about the laptop (e.g. the OS).

We have a document-level customization solution for Word and are experiencing problems during deployment in an environment running on terminal services. The OS (Windows 2012) is English and Word (2013) is non-English (German).
Installation is done into the "Program Files" folder correctly. But when trying to start a word document linked to the specific template. The "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" pops up with the error.
"There was an error during installation"
From: file:///C:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto
Downloading file:///c:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not succeed.
Exception: ....
System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDonwloadException: Download file:///C:/Programme/[Companyname]/Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not suceed. ---> System.Net.WebException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Programme\[Companyname]\[Productname]\[Productname].vsto'.
---> System.Net.WebException: ...... ---> System.IO.DirectoyNotFoundException......
The problem seems to be that the installer is looking for C:\PROGRAMME instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES. C:\PROGAMME is the German localized name of PROGRAM FILES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_Files).
The installer installs the solution correctly deployed into c:\program files, but when the later a user tries to start it and the Microsoft Office Customization Installer is called, it tries to access the non-existing "c:\programme" folder. This
doesn't exist, because Windows is English.
Is there any thing related to deploying solutions on a platform which has different languages (mixing/matching of OS language and Office language?)
Thank you for your helpHello,
1. First, I would confirm with you whether you dealt with the localization for your document-level add-in?
2. Did you use this way to define the Create a class that defines the post-deployment action part of Put the document of a solution
onto the end user's computer (document-level customizations only) and did you get the path with Environment.SpecialFolder enum?
To handle this, I would recommend you consider using Environment.SpecialFolder to set that property.

Carl

Only VBA does not recognize non-English characters
Hello guys,
I have a new laptop with Windows 8.1 bought in the USA and I'm having a difficulties with Excel VBA (Office 365 University-64x bought in the Czech Republic - Central Europe). The VBA does not recognize non-English characters (particularly "ř" and
"ů") which causes me problem when running some codes that I wrote earlier on my previous laptop (Windows 7, bought in the Czech Republic with the same Office).
The problem with non-English characters has occurred only in VBA so far, otherwise I can use these characters normally in Excel cells, Word... I tried to install both English and Czech version of the Office with no change, I also installed Czech proofreading
tools and set everything to Czech in the Office. The location and language preferences in the Windows are also set up to Czech. And it is not a problem of a font. I also mentioned that when I tried to look up these characters, using Ctrl+F, it changes
original ř to r after a search and again this is only an issue of the VBA.
Thank you very much for any help.
TomHi Tom,
VBA for Excel can only recognize ASCII code from 0 to 255, if you use other special characters like "ř" or "ů", it will returns 63(?) to you. To use this kind of characters, you have to utilize ChrW function to parse a decemal to the
character.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee177465.aspx
for example, the hex code and dec code for these two characters are as below:
Hex Dec
ř 159 345
ů 016F 367
So to get these two characters in VBA, you could code as below:
ChrW(&H159) or ChrW(345)
ChrW(&H16F) or ChrW(367)
You can get the hex code of the character by searching in the system character map(in the Win8.1 start view, search "character map"), then convert the hex code to decimal code by yourself.
Range("A1").Value = ChrW(&H159) & ChrW(&H16F)
Range("A1").Value = ChrW(345) & ChrW(367)

LINK Excel.Sheet has issues with Non-English Office
In non-english office when we issue
LINK Excel.Sheet.12 command, the range parameter is causing "Error! Invalid Link" error (¡Error! Vínculo no válido in spanish).
Example if we do:
{LINK Excel.Sheet.12 C:\\Temp\\Text.xlsx Test!R1C1:R2C2 \a \f 4 \h}
We get invalid link error (in spanish).
But when we remove the range parameter:
{LINK Excel.Sheet.12 C:\\Temp\\Text.xlsx \a \f 4 \h}
It works. This of course by default links only the first sheet by default. Anyone knows if this is a bug in Office for non-english? We are using Office 2010.Hi V.C.A,
Based on your description, it seems that your issue was related with the field link feature of the Word, and this forum is mainly discussing about the Word development questions related to VSTO, VBA and .etc. For your issue, I will recommend you going to

English reviews in non English app stores
In the past it was possible to see the English / American reviews in non-English app stores. It would be more than nice to get that ability back. In small countries there are often not that many reviews and also English speaking people in non-English countries should be able to read reviews.
Are you referring to the Customer Reviews? iTunes doesn't distinguish which language is used by the customer in writing the review so it can't filter out those you don't want to see. In fact someone could write one review and use many languages in it, but it seems those that speak German are the most vocal in the Swiss store.
This is also a user forum. Responses are from other users of Apple products. It is mainly for other users helping you with a problem that they can fix. If you want to give feedback to Apple select Provide iTunes Feedback from the iTunes menu from within the iTunes application. -
Issue with applying plugin in non-English version of AE on non-English version of Windows
Hi There,
I am encountering an issue related to my plugin and differing language versions of AE. When I apply my plugin to a layer within a project opened in an English version of AE, everything behaves as expected. However, when I apply the same plugin, in the same manner, on a non-English version of AE, I get an error message. I am dealing with this debug process on Windows 8 in Spanish. Here is the error I am receiving from the the Spanish version of CS6 on Windows8 (Spanish):
"After Effects error: no se pudo cargar el plugin "Debug.aex" (126).
( 48 :: 46 )
That basically says that the plugin could not be applied. Is there any reason why I might get this error in the Spanish version and not receive it in the English version? Do I need to setup VS2012 to build in release mode for it to work? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
ArieI did find this in the documentation, but am not sure if this is relevant.
LOCALIZATION
Thanks to the Unicode support added in CS4, localization is much less painful. For non- Unicode strings, such as in older function suites, we expect strings to be multi-byte encoded using the application's current locale. On Windows, you can use the WideCharToMultiByte() function, specifying CP_OEMCP as the first argument. On Mac OS, use the encoding returned by GetApplicationTextEncoding().
I do not care if the actual strings are in english even though the plugin is loaded in a non-English install of AE. Do I still need to do what this part of the documentation is specifying? Can anybody show me some examples of localization for plugins?
Thanks,
Arie -
Non english characters in bi problem
dear all,
i have problem with non English chars in bw. in r3 side my client uses non English chars which is allowed, however when i get data to bw side it gives error when i see psa , i see records which has # in it, leads to error.
example : wbs element.
any help for that? i have checked customizing in spro about non English chars.
thanks in advance.Hi,
Try RSKC --> type ALL_CAPITAL --> F8 (Execute)
OR
Go to SE38 and execute the program RSKC_ALLOWED_CHAR_MAINTAIN and give ALL_CAPITAL or the char you want to add.
Check the table RSALLOWEDCHAR. It should contain ALL_CAPITAL or the char you have entered.
As a long term you can apply some user exit in source system side or change your update rules to ensure that this field is getting blanked out before getting loaded in cube or add that particular char to permitted character list in BW.

PDFLPrintDoc functionality on non-English OS?
We are using Datalogics PDF 8. 1 librrary in an exe. This has the functionality of printing a PDF region to a custom printer that generates a .EMF file. For this, we are setting few printer params using PDPrintParams and PDFLPrintUserParamsRec and then call PDFLPrintDoc.
Now, on a English XP SP3 OS, this works fine and as expected generates a .EMF file with the custom printer that is added. However, on Swedish and German OS, it is NOT working. The printer just doesn't seem to do its job.
Any ideas on what's causing this failure? Is it due to the printer params not being compatible on non-English OS? OR is there any other api call for printing on these OS?
Any suggestions/comments or samples would be of great help.
Thanks in advance! Thanks for ur reply.
So, as you said, it might be a problem with the custom printer and driver that we are referring. But, its kinda getting difficult for me to trace the code that is failing for this OS as the driver is a native c code.
Other than this, I tried printing it to a file with the existing Adobe PDF printer (that has Adobe PDF converter driver) and it worked fine. Is there any other way that I check the printing? You have mentioned printing to a postscript..how do i test this?
Also, as you have mentioned to check the support contract with DL, before contacting them, is it documented anywhere about the compatibility of PDFv8.1 library on OS's that it supports?
Please let me know.
Once again thank you! -
Wrong sorting of non-English characters (iTunes 11.2)
Since version 11.2 of iTunes, there is a problem with sorting of names with non-English characters (such as ž, š, č, ř or other in Czech). It seems that iTunes completely omits these characters when sorting. As an example, I have Čajkovskij (which is the Czech spelling of Tchaikovsky) among artists in my library and it is currently sorted between Adele and Alan Parsons Project, i.e. it seems that the character Č has been completely omitted while sorting and thus the artist is sorted as Ajkovskij.
All my ID3 tags are of version 2.3 and in Unicode, thus this should not be any encoding problem. I even tried to change the ID3 tags to version 2.4, i.e. UTF-8, and it did not help.
I think that there must be many more people experiencing this problem. Not everyone has only English or ASCII names in the library and I am surprised that I could not find anything on this bug anywhere on the net yet.
Thanks for any help on this.Looks like a bug in the latest build. See this recent thread.
You could report the problem via iTunes Feedback or sign up for a free Apple Developer Connection account and make use of Apple Bug Reporter.
