Customizing View in Manage User Profiles page in CA

Is there a way to add additional fields to the Manage User Profiles section in Central Administration? It is defaulted to Account Name, Preferred Name, and Email. I would like to add one of my custom columns front an center so that when I search for someone
I see that custom field up front.
Thanks,
Brandon

It is possible. Please refer to:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262327(v=office.14).aspx#create
Just like any other custom search property you could use for User profiles too:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2010/12/23/using-a-custom-user-profile-property-for-people-search-results-scopes.aspx
If you are using Term sets:

  • WebCenter Spaces – Extend User Profile Page

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to modify the default user profile page in WCS.
    We have to remove most of the fields and add additional fields that are specific for the customer. According to the extending the WCS white paper you can only get / set the data in existing fields based on creating a customProfileattribute.
    Is this possible at the current stage of evolution of WCS?
    Cheers
    Bob

    In my current project, we have similar requirement.
    To Remove existing attributes:-
    You can hide profile fields after customizing User/My Profile Pages from WCS -->Administration --> Pages-->System Pages. See following guides:-
    7.3 Working with System Pages: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10149/admin_pages.htm#CJABBBCE
    30.5 Viewing and Editing Personal Profiles: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10149/profile.htm#CHDDIHJG
    To Add new attributes:
    You can add new fields in profile page of WebCenter Spaces by using SampleWebCenterSpacesExtensions application. You can take instructions from following guide:-
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/owcs-ps3-wcs-ext-samples-wp-308576.pdf. There are following two class files in ProfileAttribute project
    a. ExtendedProfileAttributes (You need to add new LDAP attributes in this class)
    b. CustomProfileImpl (You can override existing attribute by using this class)
    Once you done adding new attributes in ExtendedProfileAttributes, deploy this project as a shared-lib. Then you have to follow following guide in order to see your changes in WebCenter Spaces:-
    53 Extending WebCenter Spaces Using JDeveloper: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_wcsres.htm#CHDEECCE

  • PeoplePicker not showing email address after i have added it in Manage User Profiles - Non AD Environment

    Hi There,
    I have added an email address to a user in the SP Manage User Profile.
    When I go to my app and search/select the user to assign against a task, no email address is shown in the peoplepicker window.
    One thing, the users Display Name as "Server\Username" rather than the Display Name of Bob Smith for example.
    This is a non Active Directory Environment on SharePoint 2010.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

    People picker does not query the User Profile Service when resolving a name.  You need a custom claims provider for that.  See details here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg602078(v=office.14).aspx
    There is a timer job (user profile service quick sync) that runs every 15 minutes or maybe 10 minutes, don't remember the interval without looking, against the site collection that will sync from the UPS, but you are stuck with whatever is in site collection
    users until then, which will be nothing until the user profile service quick sync job runs.

    Hi Abhishek,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
    Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
    From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
    Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
    Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
    There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg750257(v=office.14).aspx
    Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:

  • Cisco call manager user web page guide

    Hi all
    Has anyone got a really quick and easy call manager user web page guide? I need one for my users
    cheers
    Carl

    Thanks but I've tried all that. It happens in Chrome also. I've tried Opera and it works on that. I've read other forums and it looks like a Java script issue that Chrome and now Firefox Mobile cannot seem to resolve. My preference is Firefox and I'm sure as more tablets get out then this will be solved at some point. I just don't know how it is prioritized. I do know that in order for Androids to be viable in the business sector they need to address issues like these with a higher priority.

  • Custom View not visible in Overview page as AB unless "Reset to Default"

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing a strange issue here.
    I enhanced the component TPMOE and created a custom view ZTRADESPENDEXCEPTION in it.
    Now i have added this view as assignment block in all 6 configuration available for the overview page.
    I have redefined the DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS and REATTACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS.
    The issue i am facing is that my view assignment block is not visible to the user unless he/she goes to the personalization of the overview page and hits "Reset to Default". Once this is done, later on users can change there personalizations and everything works fine.
    Now i am not sure i can go and tell all end users to go to personalization of the TPMOE overview page and click on "Reset to Default".
    Is there any other way i can show my view to the end users?
    I have done this on the lines of overview page layout changing when you select product planning basis while creating Trade Promotions.
    Thanks and Regards
    Gaurav Kumar Raghav

    Hi Amar,
    My coding is given below.
    In DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS, the coding is:
    Call Super Method
    ls_viewid-view_id = '<My View Name>'.
    Append ls_viewid to rt_view_id
    In REATTACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS, the coding is:
    Call Super Method
    if <flag>  = 'X'.
    ls_viewid-view_id = '<My View Name>'.
    Append ls_viewid to rt_return.
    endif.
    In debug mode, the coding get executed correctly and my view is returned for attachement.
    For each user, the first time, i need to say "Reset to Default".
    After that it works fine, my view is displayed.
    Is the program "BSP_DLC_DELETE_PERSONALIZATION"  a good solution to my problem?
    Thanks and Regards

  • User profile page very slow to load

    Hello,
    the page that displays information about a user's profile loads very slowly. I occasionally try to visit the profile page of OTN forum users, to know the little they wish to disclose about their name, job, area,... an it's not unusual to wait for a good 30s for this page, when most of the forum page (topics listing, thread,...) display in under 10 seconds.
    Of course I prefer it that way than the other way round, but 30s is around the limit of usability, whereas the info displayed there seems to deserve no complex query (ah, the points total, maybe...).
    J.
    Edited by: jduprez on Feb 24, 2011 3:03 PM
    It seems the profile page is not very well served indeed, I also pointed out this bug in the forum markup: {thread:id=2129240}

    I think it's something to do with the single sign on for the site, and the fact that the profile details are all stored in a central server somewhere rather than with the forum server itself.Ah, yes, that's likely, since indeed one can freely browse the forums listing, topics, etc... but in order to view a profile page one has to be logged in.
    And maybe the profile page are even served by another server, if the same profile page is used in other areas enrolled in the same SSO domain.

    J.

    Hi,
    Please refer to the Client-side people in SharePoint 2013.
    How to: Use the client-side People Picker control
    All you need to do is just add a div tag in your code and some JQuery code.
    <SharePoint:ScriptLink name="clienttemplates.js" runat="server" LoadAfterUI="true" Localizable="false" />
    <SharePoint:ScriptLink name="clientforms.js" runat="server" LoadAfterUI="true" Localizable="false" />
    <SharePoint:ScriptLink name="clientpeoplepicker.js" runat="server" LoadAfterUI="true" Localizable="false" />

    <SharePoint:ScriptLink name="sp.core.js" runat="server" LoadAfterUI="true" Localizable="false" />
    <div id="peoplePickerDiv"></div>
    Place the above code in ContentPlaceholderMain.
    // Run your custom code when the DOM is ready.
    $(document).ready(function () {
    // Specify the unique ID of the DOM element where the
    // picker will render.
    initializePeoplePicker('peoplePickerDiv');
    // Render and initialize the client-side People Picker.
    function initializePeoplePicker(peoplePickerElementId) {
    // Create a schema to store picker properties, and set the properties.
    var schema = {};
    schema['PrincipalAccountType'] = 'User,DL,SecGroup,SPGroup';

    schema['ResolvePrincipalSource'] = 15;
    schema['AllowMultipleValues'] = true;
    schema['MaximumEntitySuggestions'] = 50;

  • Workflow Manager & User Profile Service Application for Extranet Web application

    Hi,
    Recently i have setup HA WF Manager farm and associated it with Intranet web application (on-prem). Now i want to use the same farm for our extranet environment (on-prem) but extranet environment is not associated with UPA. Since user profile application
    is not available for extranet environment so workflow does not work.
    Now if I try to use existing UPA or create a new UPA for extranet environment, then i am exposing users data to all partner and collaborators. But for workflows to work it is necessary that users profile should be there in profile database.
    Is there any way that I can run workflows in extranet environment without exposing user profile data to partners/collaborators? Thanks.
    -Prashant

    Thanks for the reply Paul, but this does not solve the problem.
    Actually in MySite web application external users group is not at all added with any permissions but just to check your suggestion i have given permission to externals group with Deny Read permission. Now UPA is associated to the extranet web application
    and when i access user profile data using RESP API using a partner account I can still see the data. For e.g. I am using this URL
    https://extranet.abc.com/_api/SP.UserProfiles.PeopleManager/GetPropertiesFor(accountName=@v)?@v='abc\uname'
    When I hit this URL in browser using partner account, it shows the profile data of the account passed in the URL.
    MySite web application is https://mysite.abc.com and on this web application external users group is added under policy with Deny Read permissions. Thanks.

  • Attempting to Manage User Profile service results in error messages

    Hello folks. I've been working on this issue for a bit now, and have searched a number of different ways.  Everything I find as a result says "do an iisreset" as the only solution - I've done multiple iisresets and rebooted the server at least twice.
    I've been working on setting up the User Profile service and User Profile Synchronization service.  After a good bit of troubleshooting, I got the Sync service started successfully; I then decided to attempt to get to the user profile service settings
    to begin setting it up for mysites.  When selecting the service to manage it, I get the generic error in the browser, with the correlation ID which points me to these errors in my logs (as provided by ulsviewer, love that app)

    So far, I'm finding nothing that points to any further troubleshooting past "do an iisreset" or "check that the FIM services are running". I've done plenty of iisresets and the FIM services are running.
    Are there any suggestions for this that aren't just doing an iisreset, because that has not fixed it for me...

    Ok so I was able to fix the issue.
    I installed the latest CU package (currently April 2012) available here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/ff800847
    after it installed, I rebooted the SP server, then ran the SP Products Configuration Wizard, then rebooted again.
    Next, I removed the User Profile service I had previously created, then recreated everything following the instructions here:
    http://sharepointgeorge.com/2010/configuring-the-user-profile-service-in-sharepoint-2010/  to the letter (Gotta make sure you do iisresets at the right places!).
    After all this, my issues went away and I was able to proceed with setting up MySites.

  • User management/User profiling/Security

    We are developing a Intranet/Portal for our organization.we want to give personalized view for each and every portal user and with very high security.
    We are not very clear how to make the user profile.
    What is
    1.role based security
    2.rule based security
    3.Is there any standard or models are there for Grouping the user.
    (ie) is there any articles or case studies for this.Please tell me is there any books or web resources for this.

    Role based security is when the system allows you to create roles which represent a set of permissions and assign users to these roles. An example might be an admin role in a database where anyone belonging to the admin role has permission to add/remove users, tables, etc. Rule based security is not a term defined in EJB per se but I would assume it means that there are policies which represent sets of permissions that are more dynamic than roles. Users can dynamically be assigned permissions via rules that administrators can change at runtime. The best references on security in J2EE are in the J2EE spec and blueprints, both of these you can get at http://java.sun.com/j2ee/download.html

  • How to send a list's custom view to multiple users on weekly basis?

    Hi,
    I have a custom view for a list.  I need to send this view, like a color table with data, once a week to multiple people.  Can this be configured in SP13 or does it have to be developed in Visual Studio?
    Thank you.

    Hi lajasminetea,
    There is no such OOTB feature to achieve it.
    As a workaround, you can create a console application to retrieve list items using CAML Query and then generate HTML table mail body with the items.
    After generated the mail body, you can create a task schedule to run the application to send mail weekly.
    More information:
    Read List Item programmatically:

  • How to view individual customised users portal pages

    Hi all,
    We have a portal site in Production which will have up to 3000 users. Users are allowed to customise pages by adding portlets to them. They can also customise individual portlets.
    The site has 24 x 5 support from a dedicated support team. We need to find a way of letting the support team view the users page (including the customisation) without having to ask the users password and actually logging in as them.
    I'm sure that this must be a common support issue in other organisations (including Oracle).
    Any help on this issue is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Roger

    hi,
    You can certainly do it for hourly basis but i am not sure whether it could be done quarter an hour basis. Also The portal nodes within a cluster can be in different time zones, yet the activity data from all nodes are aggregated together and reported together. To enable the reporting of hourly data from different time zones, portal activity reports display hourly data based on the GMT time zone.

  • View mysite contents on profile page

    I have created mysite on SharePoint foundation.
    Now how can I put my custom created list or document library as Web part on my About me page. As it is a part of subsite and I want to put it on top site.
    I can not perform Import/Export web part and all operations. Is there any other way ?

    It isn't easy.
    The about me page is in the MySites web application 'Root' site collection.
    Each user's mysite is a separate site collection, this is a significant security boundary that it's quite hard to jump through. You'll need to identify exactly what you want to happen if you want to get that to work.

  • User Profile Pictures not deleting / replacing

    Hello,
    I have been struggling with this issue for a couple of weeks and think I may need some help.  I have a user profile sync application which works fine, it syncs several attributes from AD into SharePoint, it also exports user profile pictures back to
    AD for Exchange and Lync to use, this all works fine.
    I was asked to replace a picture for a user, which I did using the 'Manage User Profiles' page in Central Admin.  I didn't realise there was an issue until I was asked again a week later, it seems the update had not worked.  I tried again, and
    lo and behold the picture managed to revert back to the old one again.
    After a lot of messing around deleting the picture, syncing, adding the new picture, syncing again etc I could not get the new picture to stay, the old one kept coming back. I do not think the issue is related to the sync, but more with SharePoint itself,
    here is a symptom I believe is related:-
    I delete a user's picture from 'Manage User Profiles', the picture is gone and the user's mysite page shows the placeholder pic.
    Looking in the mysites site collection in User%20Photos/Forms/AllItems.aspx the 3 pictures for the user have disappeared.  However if I browse to the url of the picture - User%20Photos/Profile%20Pictures/*username*_SThumb.jpg (or mthumb or lthumb) the
    picture appears in my browser.
    Next if I add a new picture for the same user through central admin, I then see the new picture in their mysite, I can also see 3 thumbnails of the user's photo under the mysites site collection in User%20Photos/Forms/AllItems.aspx
    So far so good, however, if I browse to the url of the picture (including the filename as above) then I am shown the old picture :S
    So it appears that the pictures in User%20Photos/Profile%20Pictures/_w and User%20Photos/Profile%20Pictures/_t are updating with the new picture, but the pictures in User%20Photos/Profile%20Pictures/ do not get updated, or even deleted properly when they
    are removed.
    Hope somebody can shed some light on this as it's really annoying me now! Thanks :)

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that the replacing picture not work properly in MySite.
    I tried to reproduce the issue in my environment(SharePoint server 2013+SP1), it works without any issue.
    Did the issue occur for all the users?
    To narrow down whether the issue is related to the User Profile service, you can use other accounts to check whether it works.
    If that is the case, you can recreate the user profile service application to check whether it works.
    If your environment does not install any updates, you can install SP1 or latest update to check whether it works.
    You can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
    To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
    For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS
