CVI & Driver Instrument

Hi guys. My problem is to see the Rigol DSA1030A as instrument in CVI. I have connected it via USB and following the guide I have downloaded the IVI driver where I haven't found any *.fp file.
Yestarday talking with a NI engineer he suggest me to use the VISA...but I have no idea. Is there any guide where I can read something? or by the way can you help me with this problem?

As I said, I never used Rigol instruments so I don't know the answer to this question.
In the document linked by Wolfgang in your other thread there indeed is a log (report.html) that refers to LabVIEW VIs being generated out of the CVI driver, so it should be available somewhere... There is also a .msi installer: did you tried running it? Has it installed some particular software or document?

LabView 2010 - CVI Driver Import Wizard

I have previously downloaded and used the driver import wizard to create LabView VIs from a CVI driver. Specifically with Labview 8.x and 2009.
However the latest version of the wizard (v1.3) will not install with LabView 2010 and there isn't a newer one to download w- So the question is, does anyone know if there is an intention to update this wizard so I can use it with LV 2010 ?

I am having the same problem. Please let me know if this has been resolved yet.
I tried copying the following directories to labview 2010:
from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\resource\CVIFpConv
to          C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\resource\CVIFpConv
and
from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\project\_DriverCtoLV
to         C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\project\_DriverCtoLV
and the wizard loads and runs until I specify a .fp file and then I get the error in the jpeg attached. When I try to open the block diagram (FC_RFL_Initialize.vi), it says you need a password to view it, so that stops my debugging.

Importing CVI driver to LabVIEW 5.1

Hi,
I want to import a CVI driver to LabVIEW 5.1. I am familiar with the process of converting CVI driver to LabVIEW 7 library but i do not find that tab in labVIEW 5.1
Can somebody help me out?

Hi Siddu,
Since there isn't a direct way to "Import CVI Instrument Driver" to LabVIEW 5.1, you will have to build the code that calls the CVI driver yourself. You can either call the CVI code using a CIN Node or you can compile the driver to a DLL and call it from LabVIEW using a Call Library Function Node. I definitely prefer the latter approach. All you then have to do is create small 'wrapper'-VIs that call each function in the DLL. Remember to connect the front panel objects of the VI to the connector pane, so it can be called as a SubVI.

We have a LabVIEW driver for the 35670A on our website, but not a CVI driver. There is, however, a CVI driver for a 3561A (another HP Dynamic Signal Analyzer). The command sets should be similar and so you should be able to modify the 3561A's driver to work with the 35670A.

Otherwise, http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/other.htm states a few options to obtaining a driver. Drivers are developed based on demand and p
opularity so the more requests, the greater the possibility that one will be developed. It would also be beneficial to notify the instrument manufacturer.

Problème d'utilisation de driver instrument

Bonjour
je dois developper sous labview une application qui pour controler un instrument R&S FSEK 30, j'ai déjà telechargé et installé le driver instrument dans la palette labview. toutes les fonctions du driver y sont visible. Mon problème est que je n'arrive pas à communiquer avec l'instrument. même la fonction exemple du driver ne s'execute pas. je nouveau alors aidez moi. Parcontre en vérifiant sous MAX, l'appareil repond bien à mon query.
Vous avez une idée??

Je viens à l'instant de relancer les commandes. et je pense que le problème est le timeout que je n'arrive pas à gerer voyez vous mm sur les pièces jointes.
et c'est seulement pour l'affichage de la courbe (beaucoup de données à analyser). Car un simple Write, Read me retourne la bonne valeur sous max et sous LabV.
Comment afficher les courbes???

National Instruments has many instrument drivers on its webpage (follow link below to Downloads). If you cannot find it there, you can follow the link to "Other Driver Resources" where other companies place their drivers for use.

If you cannot find it, you may consider finding one for a similar instrument and modifying it to work with your instrument.

NI MAX entry for a Non-NI/VISA Instrument LabWindows/CVI Driver

Hi All,
Sorry in advance if this is not the right forum.
I have created a IVI class and specific instrument driver in LabWindows/CVI for a Video Generator. The generator is a networked, SCPI based instrument. It does not automatically appear in MAX like other NI based instruments.
How or what do I need to do to MAX to use the instrument? Is it as simple as adding the logical name, driver session and advanced driver entries to MAX? Do I need to create a new instrument in the HW section such that the driver session has a device to point to? I have been playing aroud with the networked instrument section in MAX and nothing seemed to make sense to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe this Knowledge Base article will help get you started. I think you will need to add a new VISA TCP/IP Resource in Measurement and Automation Explorer.

What is the DLL for the Agilent hp4145a instrument driver?
I am trying to convert the LabWindows/CVI Agilent hp4145 intrument driver for use in labview 2011, but keep getting errors related to an incorrect DLL.

- this report was automatically downloaded along with the"LabVIEW Instrument Driver Import Wizard (LabVIEW Interface Generator for LabWindows/CVI Instrument Drivers)" *(link listed below), and popped up at the end of the installation.
If any specific details or a screenshot will also be of benefit to solving this problem, I will be able to post them by tomorrow night.

I am currently developing a user interface in labview 8.5 to interface a frequency analyzer HP 8753E, I could not find a solution (normally with the instrument driver) to the calibration of the analyzer (note the calibration can be done manually but I must do with labview)

CVI 2009 - Instruments loaded in project lost when CVI shutdown/restarted

Steps to duplicate:
1. Start CVI 2009; load a project with no instruments loaded.
2. Load instruments into project (the test case in which this problem was observed loaded niScope.fp and FieldPoint.fp; NI-Scope version was 3.5.1, Field Point was 6.0.4).
3. Compile/build project.
4. Shutdown CVI; restart (project will be reloaded by default).
Observed behavior:
1. Instruments loaded into project in prior iteration will not be loaded and need to be reloaded before project can be compiled/built. This behavior was not observed in prior versions.

This is the expected behaviour, I think. At list it was up to release 8.5 (I can't test more further). See here.

Agilent 53131A LabWindows/CVI device driver showing timeout error

Hi All,
I have developed TestStand sequences for Measurements using Agilent 53131A frequency counter instrument. I have developed 2 sequences one using CVI drivers and the other using LabVIEW drivers. The functionality of the sequence is as follows
1. Initialize the instrument
2. Measure the frequency for N number of times
3. Close the instrument
What I could find is the LabVIEW driver based sequence is working fine (for any number of measurements) but the CVI driver based sequence is showing Timeout errors after 1or 2 measurements.

Exactly why do you think that the driver is not supported with
LabVIEW 8? Installing the 7.1 version should allow it to be opened and
saved. Do you get an error message or something else when you try to
open it?
Since it's an IVI driver, you can also create a 8.0 version directly. Look at the link here
about the instrument driver import wizard. All of the available LabVIEW
drivers for this instrument have used this wizard to create them.
Download just the CVI driver to do this.
