Daily data entry Transaction log

SAP : ECC 6.0
DB : DB2
OS : LINUX 64
Issue : Management need Daily Data entry transaction summary
1. Comp. code
2. Plant code
3. Module
4. User
5. Transaction code
6. Entries entered (count only)
7. Approved if any (count only)
8. . Time spent on this
Is it possible for Basis person to generate a daily/ weekly report ?
An abap developer can do ?
If already some one done this kind of analysis pl. give matching  TCODE/ sql to generate this.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
This seems to be more of a customer requirement. Abapers will be able to write a customized program as per your requirement.
Once data(Plant code,Comp. code etc) is pulled from corresponding tables its very easy for abaper to present the logic in any of the forms like ALV.
Hope it helps.

  • Block size in tt for writing data to transaction log and checkpoint files

    Hello,
what block size is TimesTen using when its writing data to transaction log and checkpoint files? Does it use some fixed block size during filesystem writes?

Although in theory logging can write 2 KB blocks in almost all circumstances it will write 4 KB or larger so yes a filesystem with a 4 KB block size is fine for both checkpointing and logging.

  • Restoring Mailbox data through Transaction logs

    Hello all,
We're running Exhange server 2007 on a dedicated VM.
We're currently running Tri-Daily VM backups and Daily backups via tape in 1 set, and 4 weekly sets of tapes.
Our issue is that now the tape drive has broken and we're trying to source a replacement and or repair of the tape drive, we need to work out how we're going to restore lost data without having to purchase more hardware for VM backups for dailys.
We know that transaction logs can be used to roll forward to a point in time of when the last VM backup was taken, to the time the server went down. to restore as many lost emails as possible.
Our SLA to our users is currently 2-48 hours of lost data on the system, but we'd like to limit this as much as possible, and as it's tri-daily, we run the risk of over running that SLA.
So the main question is, how would we roll our database forward using the transaction logs?

Great link from Ed and regarding rolling logs there are a few things to keep in mind.
    1. in order to use ESEutil to roll logs you MUST have a database that is in a dirty/inconsistent state, i.e. system stopped abruptly (was not shut down gracefully) or an Exchange aware backup was made and you are able to restore the DB to disk without rolling
    up or mounting the DB.
    2. You can only rollup/apply a set of logs to a dirty DB one time, i.e. lets say you have a backup of the DB that is still dirty and the backup was from 1/1/2014 and you have logs up through today 3/11/2014.  So you could then make a copy of the logs
through say 1/31/2014 and use eseutil to roll them up and bring the db to a consistent/clean state.
    3. However if you want to rollup data through say 2/15/2014 you cannot do so with the DB that was rolled up to 1/31/2014 in step 2 because that DB is now in a clean/consistent state and therefore it will not accept additional log rollup for the logs through
    2/15/2014.  To solve this you would need to do the following;
A: get a copy of the 1/1/2014 EDB that is dirty/inconsistent
B: copy the logs from 1/14 to 2/15 into a separate directory
C: Roll the logs into the DB using eseutil.
Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->
    2007 --> 2010 --> 2013 with Lucid8's

  • Two step confirmation with RF device (Mobile Data Entry) - 1st step only

    Hello
I want to implement the following scenario:
    - WM transfer orders are created, relevant for two step confirmation;
    - a user working with RF device confirms the 1st step - picking;
    - then the materials are transported physically to another building (the same warehouse number);
    - another user working with RF device confirms the 2nd step - putaway.
For confirming the 1st step I tried to use standard transaction LM07. Confirmation of the 1st step is working fine but right after that a screen for confirming the 2nd step is displayed to the user. I would like this transaction to finish just after confirming the 1st step and not to proceed with the 2nd step immediately - because the confirmation of the 2nd step should be done by another user (with some other transaction).
What is more: if you exit the transaction manually after confirming the 1st step the system saves the TO number (in table LRF_WKQU) and in some circumstances triggers the screen for confirming the 2nd step even if you do not run LM07 - this is so called "recovery" function which is a nuisance in my case.
So my question is: is there a way to customize LM07 so that it finished processing automatically right after confirming the 1st step for a two step confirmation TO ? (and without storing data for "recovery" function). Or maybe some other mobile-data-entry transaction should be used for that ?

    Hi Vlad,
One more information, which i would like to communicate on this issue.
We have raised OSS message to SAP on this issue. They have replied back that, on screen 1302, we have some custom code which is interfering with the system behavior.
As of now, we have analyzed at our end, and we found that, the enhancement at screen 1302 is restricted for the functionality, and in theory, this enhancement should not be effecting at all the system behavior.
SAP has suggested to test the scenario , without any enhancement on screen 1302.
Still we are in discussion with SAP, and try to find out the resolution.
Can you also check in your system, if you have any enhancement on screen 1302 ? And if yes, does it interfering with the stander SAP codes.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raj.

  • Creation Of Custom Transaction For RF enabled devices "mobile data entry"

    Hello Everyone,
i need some information, or some material or some example's for creating custom transactions that will invoke the standard good issue transaction of sap from the handled device using the RF , so can anybody give some reference which will help me in creating custom transaction for a RF enabled handled device, which will invoke the standard sap goods issue transaction( mb1a) ,, there are some LM-transaction which do goods issue from the RF enabled handled device, but in my case i want to do goods issue using reservation as my input, so can anybody guide me or send some reference material matching to my problem, i would really appreciate it..
    thanks in advance...
    sapient2006

    Hi Hussaini,
    Here are the steps.
1> Customization needs to be completed in SPRO. Logistics Execution -> Mobile Data entry section. Also compare entries with LM01 for understanding.
2> In the 'Define menu management', you can create dynamic menus. For Menu or transaction type, if you enter "1", a menu appears; if you enter "2", a transaction appears. Custom transactions can be created and assigned here.
Once that is done, when you execute LM01 you will see your custom transactions come up. Make sure that these are created keeping in mind the RF device screen size and limitations.
    Regards,
    Anand.

  • Recovering data using SQL transaction logs

Hi-If we have a backup of our HFM database (in SQL) as of 8am today, and we backup the transaction logs too, can we use them to restore the database in case of an issue. Example, the database gets corrupted or someone deletes the wrong data. Can we restore the backup and then use the transaction logs to recreate the activities since the backup? Would this work if some of those activities were data loads via FDQM?
just checking if it makes sense to do these transaction log backups in SQL as it relates to HFM 9.2.1
    Thanks
    Wags

If your company performs full backups at the close of business every Friday and differential backups every Monday through Thursday evening. You could include hourly backups of the transaction log during business hours. Assume a database failure at 11:05AM Wednesday. Under this strategy, you would use Friday's full backup and Tuesday's differential backup to restore the database to it's state at the close of business Tuesday. This resulted in a loss of two hours of data (9-11AM Wednesday). Using the transaction log backups, you could apply the 9AM and 10AM transaction log backups after the Tuesday differential backup to restore our database to it's state at 11AM Wednesday. Restoring all but five minutes of database activity.

  • Transaction log growth during the import of huge data volume

    Hi,
I've a table in a staging area with an identity primary key where I want to import some millions of data. I need to acquire some nvarchar(100) fields and a nvarchar(2048) field. During the ETL execution, the transaction log of the staging area db grows,
allocates more 50-60 Gb and then the related job go in error.
Is it the right behaviour for the transaction log depending on row number and field dimension?
Do I need to perform any particular action to solve this issue?
    Many thanks

Is it the right behaviour for the transaction log depending on row number and field dimension?
Do I need to perform any particular action to solve this issue?
    Many thanks
Its expected behavior in full recovery model each row insert would be logged hence filling the transaction log. Unless you are doing bulk insert bulk logged recovery model wont help. Or any transaction that supports minimal logging.  Plus you loose
point in time recovery during minimal logging
Instead let recovery model be full please do insert in batches it would be best

  • Need a Walkthrough on How to Create Database & Transaction Log Backups

Is this the proper forum to ask for this type of guidance?  There has been bad blood between my department (Research) and the MIS department for 30 years, and long story short I have been "given" a virtual server and cut loose by my MIS department
-- it's my responsibility for installs, updates, backups, etc.  I have everything running really well, I believe, with the exception of my transaction log backups -- my storage unit is running out of space on a daily basis, so I feel like I have to be
    doing something wrong.
If this is the proper forum, I'll supply the details of how I currently have things set up, and I'm hoping with some loving guidance I can work the kinks out of my backup plan.  High level -- this is for a SQL Server 2012 instance running on a Windows
    2012 Server...

Thanks all, after posting this I'm going to read the materials provided above.  As for the details:
I'm running on a virtual Windows Server 2012 Standard, Intel Xeon CPU 2.6 GHz with 16 GB of RAM; 64 bit OS.  The computer name is e275rd8
Drives (NTFS, Compression off, Indexing on):
    DB_HVSQL_SQL-DAT_RD8-2(E:) 199 GB (47.2 used; 152 free)
    DB_HVSQL_SQL-Dat_RD8(F:) 199 GB (10.1 used; 189 free)
    DB_HVSQL_SQL-LOG_RD8-2(L:) 199 GB (137 used; 62 free) **
    DB_HVSQL_SQL-BAK_RDu-2(S:) 99.8 GB (64.7 used; 35 free)
    DB_HVSQL_SQL-TMP_RD8-2(T:) 99.8 GB (10.6 used; 89.1 free)
    SQL Server:
    Product: SQL Server Enterprise (64-bit)
    OS: Windows NT 6.2 (9200)
    Platform: NT x64
    Version: 11.0.5058.0
    Memory: 16384 (MB)
    Processors: 4
    Root Directory: f:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL
    Is Clustered: False
    Is HADR Enabled: False
    Database Settings:
    Default index fill factor: 0
Default backup media retention (in days): 0
    Compress backup is checkmarked/on
    Database default locations:
      Data: E:\SQL\Data
      Log: L:\SQL\LOGs
      Backup: S:\SQLBackups
There is currently only one database: DistrictAssessmentDW
To create my backups, I'm using two maintenance plans, and this is where I'm pretty sure I'm not doing something correctly.  My entire setup is me just guessing what to do, so feel free to offer suggestions...
    Maintenance Plan #1: Backup DistrictAssessmentDW
Scheduled to run daily Monday Through Friday at 3:33 AM
      Step 1: Backup Database (Full)
Backup set expires after 8 days
        Back up to Disk (S:\SQLBackups)
Set backup compression: using the default server setting
      Step 2: Maintenance Cleanup Task
Delete files of the following type: Backup files
Search folder and delete files based on an extension:
          Folder: L:\SQL\Logs
          File extension: trn
          Include first-level subfolders: checkmarked/on
File age: Delete files based on the age of the file at task run time older than 1 Day
      Step 3: Maintenance Cleanup Task
Delete files of the following type: Backup files
Search folder and delete files based on an extension:
          Folder: S:\SQLBackups
          File extension: bak
          Include first-level subfolders: checkmarked/on
File age: Delete files based on the age of the file at task run time older than 8 Days
Maintenance Plan #2: Backup DistrictAssessmentDW TRANS LOG ONLY
Scheduled to run daily Monday through Friday; every 20 minutes starting at 6:30 AM & ending at 7:00 PM
      Step 1: Backup Database Task
        Backup Type: Transaction Log
        Database(s): Specific databases (DistrictAssessmentDW)
Backup Set will expire after 1 day
        Backup to Disk (L:\SQL\Logs\)
Set backup compression: Use the default server setting
Around 2:30 each day my transaction log backup drive (L:) runs out of space.  As you can see, transactions are getting backed up every 20 minutes, and the average size of the backup files is about 5,700,000 KB.
I hope this covers everything, if not please let me know what other information I need to provide...

  • Database Transaction log suspected pages

We migrated our Production Databases to New SQL Cluster and when I run query to find any suspected pages entries in MSDB Database .I found there are 5 entries in msdb.dbo.suspected_pages tables .These enries for Production Database Transaction file (File_id=2)
, Pages_id =1,2,3,6,7 and the event _type was updated to 4 for all pages after I did DB restore and error_count is 1 for each page_id.
As my understanding , before I did the DB restore ,there were transaction log pages were corrupted ,but the restored repaired those corrupted pages .Since pages are repaired then there is no need to concern for now .I have now Database consistency check
job scheduled to check the Database corruption on Report server each night .I restore Database on report server using the a copy of Production Database Backup .Someone please help me to understand what caused the log file pages to get corrupted .Page_id 1,2,3,6,7
are called boot pages for the log file  ? What shold I do if I will find the Log file supected Pages ?
Thank so your help in advance .
    Daizy

Hi Andreas , Thanks for your reply .
FYI- You have the event_type 1and 3 for your Database , but the event_type was updated to 4 on my system after I did restore and the date/time shows the exact date/time when the event_type was updated .
Please help me understand usually Database Data file is organized in pages ,not the log file ??
    Thanks
    Daizy
    Hello Daizy
yes, the event types 1-3 were the error-state before the "repair".
After I did a Full backup + Restore I now have type 4 just as you do.
Yes, the Log files is organized in so called "Virtual Log Files"/VLFs, which have nothing in common with the 8-KB data-pages of the data-files. Therefore a page_id does not make sense there.

  • SQL0964C  The transaction log for the database is full

    Hi,
i am planning to do QAS refresh from PRD system using Client export\import method. i have done export in PRD and the same has been moved to QAS then started imported.
    DB Size:160gb
    DB:DB2 9.7
    os: windows 2008.
I facing SQL0964C  The transaction log for the database is full issue while client import and regarding this i have raised incident to SAP then they replied to increase some parameter like(LOGPRIMARY,LOGSECOND,LOGFILSIZ) temporarily and revert them back after the import. Based on that i have increased from as below mentioned calculation.
the filesystem size of /db2/<SID>/log_dir should be greater than LOGFILSIZ*4*(Sum of LOGPRIMARY+LOGSECONDARY) KB
    From:
    Log file size (4KB)                         (LOGFILSIZ) = 60000
Number of primary log files                (LOGPRIMARY) = 50
Number of secondary log files               (LOGSECOND) = 100
    Total drive space required: 33GB
    To:
    Log file size (4KB)                         (LOGFILSIZ) = 70000
Number of primary log files                (LOGPRIMARY) = 60
Number of secondary log files               (LOGSECOND) = 120
    Total drive space required: 47GB
But still facing the same issue. Please help me to resolve the ASAP.

    Hi Babu,
I believe you should have taken a restart of your system if log primary are changed.  If so, then increase log primary to 120 and secondary to 80 provide size and space are enough.

  • The transaction log for database 'EMP_SP_SearchApp_CrawlStoreDB_32fdb1522c5249088db8b09c1917dbec' is full due to 'ACTIVE_TRANSACTION'

    Hi
we have a sharepoint farm for uploading documents in huge number daily and we conifgured RBS for sql server content db.
we are facing issue in sql server instance:
Suddenly the SQL server instance restarts and sometimes failover to node1 and sometimes just restart and keep running on the current server
and did some invistagations we found that
-Analysis of data shows that the slowness of IO for tempdb.ldf is cause of the issue
-tried to check tempdb using db properties but I couldn’t see the properties it gives me error,
-There might be a big transaction locking the tempdb.
Also noted  that there are lot of errors:
The transaction log for database 'MOJSP_SearchApp_CrawlStoreDB_32fdb1522c5249088db8b09c1917dbec' is full due to 'ACTIVE_TRANSACTION'
This might also be part of the problem causing locking.
    we found the errors like
The transaction log for database 'EMP_SP_SearchApp_CrawlStoreDB_32fdb1522c5249088db8b09c1917dbec' is full due to 'ACTIVE_TRANSACTION'
I see that log_reuse_wait_desc (reuse of transaction log space is currently waiting on as of the last checkpoint) is 'ACTIVE_TRANSACTION'

    Hi Adil,
    Method1:
On your SharePoint SQL Server database, open the SQL Server Management Studio.
Connect to the local SQL Server.
    Right click Your Database Name.
Go to -> Properties -> Options.
Change Recover Model from Full to Simple -> Click OK.
Right click Your Database Name, go to Tasks -> Shrink -> Shrink Files.
Select a File type of Log, then Shrink.
    Method2:
Run SQL Management Studio and login to your SharePoint instance.
    Click on "New Query".
    Type in the following commands:
    USE [database name];
    BACKUP LOG [Your Database Name] WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY;
    DBCC
    SHRINKFILE ([Your Log File Name], 1);
Replace [Your Database Name] and [Your Log File Name] with your log file.
This will truncate your log file to 1mb.
    Method3:
    Issue CHECKPOINT on the tempdb
    USE tempdb
    GO
    CHECKPOINT
    GO
Take Transactional log backup on the user database
BACKUP LOG CustomerXS TO DISK = N'M:\MSSQL\Backup\MSSQLSERVER\XS and RT\XS_Movement.trn'     WITH COMPRESSION     GO

  • ICP Data Entry

    Hi,
I want to disable the ICP for one of my entity. But, the entity already has some IC Transactions ( through data entry & journals ) in the past years and it shows some integrity contraints while loading metadata. So, if I disable ICP for that entity through metadata - it will yield incorrect results in the past years. Is there any other way to prevent IC data entry to this entity in future. I also tried HS.Noinput"I#<EntityName>" and it did not work. Any suggestions is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your help.
    Regards,
    Samy

Thank you guys. Hs.NoInput"I#<ICP Member>" worked perfectly. The problem that existed earlier when I tried was because of few incorrect input statements that preceded the actual NoInput statements that I was testing. It did not show up any error in the log file but affected the NoInput Statements that followed it.
    Things are working fine now.
    Thank you once again.
    Regards,
    Samy

  • Change Button from Mobile Data Entry Menu

Hi, as we know, we can start the mobile data entry menu via t-code: LM00, my question is, how to change the button sequence, or add addition button, or remove button from the mobile data entry screen...
    Please kindly help.
    Best Regards.

You do this with configuration.  You need to setup a menu, attach the menu to a queue and then the queue to a user profile.
    Go to SPRO,
      Logisitics Execution
            Mobile Data Entry
                  Define Menu Management
Here create the menu,  Give the menu name and for each transaction you want on the screen you assign a different tcode.  Say you have 3 transactions tied to this menu, this means that you will have 3 buttons on the initial screen of LM00.
Back out of that, and now go to "RF Queue Management"
Choose Define Queues from the menu,  Create your queue .
Now go to "Assigne Processor to Queues"  Here create a record for your user and assigne the queue and the main menu.  Now when this user logs on and runs LM00, you should see the buttons that you just configured.
