DAQ PCI-4452 and TestPoint ?

Is it possible to use a DAQ PCI-4452 with TestPoint?
I allways get the ni error message 10080.

Currently the PCI-4452 is only supported under the following programming environments.
LabVIEW
LabWindows/CVI
Visual Basic
Visual C/C++
One option you may want to consider if you need to run your application in TestPoint is to create a dll from within one of the above mentioned programs and call the dll from TestPoint.

    "Thanks for your attention,
I have Dynamometer with four analog outputs to respective amplifier's,all of which I have to connect to NI's BNC 2140, which will be connected to PCI 4452, now I even have PCi 1200 which is also a DAQ card I suppose. I want to know whether I need to connect both of these together in anyway, and ultimatly will they appear on single VI together or seperatly. Like I have developed single VI for both, but Is it possible to Develop VI with access to both.
Also is it necesary to use both, I want to know whether my application will be handled by PCI 4452 alone,
I suppose I am clear this time about my application and things available with me.

  • How can I configure NI PCI 6221 and DAQ SCB-68 for pressure sensors?

    Hello
    everybody,
I am using the measuring board (NI PCI 6221) and DAQ
    SCB-68 for the data acquisition.
With the DAQ-Assistant I created AI for the voltage of
pressure sensors. In a big indicator panel from this DAQ-Assistant I see the
voltage for both sensors in the correct size. But if I set sensors in the
blockdiagramm to control the signals for sensor one I get a wrong voltage size
    and for sensor 2 nothing.
How can I configure this data acquisition equipment to
    get the correct signals?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I do not know the type of sensor you are using. But pressure transducers may have a very low output voltage(in the mVolt range). They also need an excitation voltage. Here is an introduction. http://focus.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/an/sloa034/sloa034.pdfThen working with pressure sensors I always use 3 stages in the circuit.
1 Instrumentation Amplifier as a preamp
    2 filterstage
3 Final amp and output buffer
(you may combine stage 2 and 3)
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • Magma-box and DAQ PCI 6034E card

I had installed a magma-box (64-bit 2 Slot Series) on my laptop. And I installed NI-DAQ 7.1. Than I had plug the PCI-6034E card in the magma-box. My laptop identify the PCI-6034E daq card in the Device Manager; but with a yellow exclamation point and give the Error code 10 (Cannot start the device). The same used with the PCI-6377 card.
I have tried with the cards in the differend slots.

    Hey Wim,
I am not sure what a magma-box is. I have searched all over google and I haven't been able to find one. This brings up my next question of how you are installing a PCI-6034E and PCI-6377 on the laptop. National Instruments driver does not support this and I am pretty sure the DMA on the devices wouldn't work as well. The main difference between the PCMCIA devices National Instruments sell and the PCI devices is the DMA channels. If you need to use a laptop I would recommend purchasing the DAQCards or DAQPads that can connect to USB, Firewire, or PCMCIA slots. These devices are supported on laptops. The PCI devices are designed to work on desktop computers with standard PCI busses that allow for DMA channels and ISA based interrupts.
    I hope
    this helps out.

  • Will DAQ with PCI-4474 and a Kinemetrics Episensor ES-U sensor work?

We are planning to setup a DAQ system measuring some low level vibration. The system considered will be a PC based card, PCI-4474 and a Kinematrics Episensor ES-U accelerometer. Before purchase,we would like to find out is there any compatibility issue between these two devices or any complicacy in setting them up. Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

    Hi Zenz,
I just want to ask how is your project going regarding the PCI-4474 and a Kinematrics Episensor ES-U accelerometer. I am using the same model of accelerometer from Kinemetrics but now it's power by an old ADC from Kinemetrics also. Now were planning to shift to NI DAQ including the power supplies. Were more on vibration testing.

  • PCI-4452 triggering

    This is 'Urgent'...
How can I read only one scan right after triggering with PCI-4452?
I have a rotary encoder which generate 625 square waves (TTL) per one revolution,
    whose speed is around 7kHz.
This is going through the EXTTRIG line on PCI-4452 DIO channel.
All I want is to scan one Analog signal datum whenever these TTL rising edges
occure, so I'll have 625 data per revolution.
Even though it's pretty easy concept, I can't still make it in Labview with
PCI4452, which has been already done in C language with the pretty decent
    DAQ hardware.
First of all, I wonder if this is possible for PCI-4452.
And I wonder if anybody know what kind of loop and algorithm should be used.
I hope if I could get some example programs. This is pretty
    general concept
for the vibration test to syncronize the rotary system.
    I really need your help.
I really appreciate your kind consideration.

I have tried to use a standard board to read from an encoder before. Good
luck. I had to finally get a quadrature input board, and write my own .dll
file to use. That was before NI made a motion control board.
I used a Kiethly Metrabyte M5312 board, and was able to read and write
on a register level. It kept count (Up and Down), I did the math to derive
    depth of Coiled tubing.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi Rimi,
While searching for a possible solution to your question, I came across a Knowledgebase entry on our web site. Its ID is 251BSUKN. Although PCI-6023 is not specififcally included there, taking a look at it might provide you some good insight into the problem. Also in this knowledge base, you will find an attachment of the kdf files. Please do take a look at the tutorial under the related links too. To access the knowledgebase, go to ni.com/support and type this knowledgebase ID in the search box at the bottom of the page.
    I hope this helps.

  • Thermistor measurement using NI PCI-6036E and CB-68LP

    Hi everyone,
I am quite new to LabVIEW and DAQ and I am in an attempt of performing temperature measurement using the only existing hardware available which are NI PCI-6036E and CB-68LP. I was in the attempt of trying to perform the example of temperature measurement based on a book by Robert H. King "Introduction to Data Acquisition with LabVIEW", but as I go further I realized that the hardware I have is totally different that the one in the book, as the one in the book can perform direct resistance measurement from the thermistor.
I have learnt that there is a need of external excitation current needed but I am not sure of now to create one.
Is it true that I need to do a lot of external circuitry in order for me to realize the temperature measurement with only PCI-6036E and CB-68LP? I don't have a budget to buy SCXI or BNC-2120 accessory.
I bought a breadboard and a few resistors and connected to a voltage supply to build the external excitation but it failed miserably.
I am using Windows XP PC running LabVIEW 2011.

    Hi Lynn,
Thank you for your reply. I was just wondering at which terminal should I connect the AI0 of the DAQ card. I did the connection accordingly, by placing the external resistor in series with the thermistor. I connected the +5V source to one end of the external resistor and at the same point I place a connection to the AI0 and at the other end of the thermistor to the ground. The voltage seems to be a constant 5V.
I wanted to monitor the change in temperature of the thermistor by monitoring the voltage variation. When I measure the voltage with an external multimeter there seems to be some changes in the voltage, from 4.51V to 4.54V when I place my thumb on the thermistor to give some heat. However, I couldn't monitor any variation with the VI on LabVIEW. Did I misconnected everything?
I build the VI solely using DAQ Assistant to measure voltage.

  • Wrong info about PCI-4452 on Catalog 2005?

Hi. I found that on page 254 of Catalog 2005 there's a table where it says that NI PCI-4452 has IEPE conditioning. Is that true?
    Regards,
    Daniel Ramírez

The PCI-4451 and 4452 do not have IEPE conditioning built-in to the board itself, but the BNC-2140 does. If you need IEPE conditioning, this is the terminal block that you should choose with the PCI-4451/2.
    Sorry for the confusion.

    Hello,
It seems to be a common mode voltage or ground loop problem.
When you are sourcing an output signal from your DAQ board, the signal is already grounded, it means that it has already a reference. If you measure this output with a measurement device, which has also a ground, the both ground potential are not necessary equal. This difference is the common mode voltage and influences your measurement (offset).
Please check the following links to have more detail about grounded signal.

  • How to reduce reading and recording data time/ Visual C++, PCI 6024E and PCI-MIO-16E?

Right now I am working on a data communication programme. The time of reading digital signal and recording data is more than I expected, which is about 100 microsecond. I need to reduce the time. The software I am using is Visual C++ 6.0. I use two DAQ boards, which are PCI-6024E and PCI-MIO-16E. I have set the priority of Visual C++ to be realtime by task manager. The operating systme is Windows XP.
I am wondering how to set the interrupt of reading or writing data to be the highest and stop any other kind of interrupt.
    Thanks in advance!

The primary limitation you will encounter when trying to do high speed
digital I/O using your E-Series hardware is that the digital lines are
all software timed.  This means that for each and every digital
read it is necessary for your software to issue a command to your
hardware, read a single point, then receive the response from the
board.  This prevents you from performing digital operations at
very high speed.  In general, I would say that 100 microseconds is
a very good response using software-timed digital I/O on a Windows
    computer.
It is difficult to make a good recommendation without more detail about
what you are trying to do.  You may need to consider switching to
a Real-Time operating system, or upgrading your DAQ hardware to a board
that will allow you to time your digital acquisitions on the board
itself.  These devices, such as the m-Series DAQ or the PCI-653x
series, would allow you to use hardware triggers for your digital
acquisitions, change detection, and buffered data acquisitions to
reduce the software overhead involved in a rapid acquisition.

  • NI PCI 6221 and SCB-68 and timer

I'm using NI PCI 6221 and SCB-68.  Can I use timer with Single Two-Signal Edge-Separation Measurement. Is this type of measurement can be set with that hardware combination. I,m asking becouse when I,m using DAQ ASSISTANCE it pointing the pin name that doesn,t exist on the SCB-68.

    Hi Fazi,
The SCB-68 has pinout labels for E-series DAQ cards while the NI PCI-6221 is one of the newer M-series DAQ cards.  The Single Two-Signal Edge-Separation Measurement you want to take is possible with your card.  Below is a KnowledgeBase article which gives the SCB-68 pinouts for M-series cards. Let me know if this fully answers your question or I assumed something wrong.

  • DAQ PCI-6034E for RTX

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to read data from the  DAQ PCI-6034E board using RTX ?
    thanks

    Hi,
I think you have to write a register level driver for the PCI-6034E to use RTX... No National Instruments driver exists for E series and RTX.
Below is a link to help you ....

Personnally, I recommend you to use new M series (similar to E series) because they are supported under RTX via NI-DAQmx Base 2.0.

  • Is there a known conflect between PCI 6034E and 7344

I just installed a new PCI 6034E and now the DAC on my PC 7344 motion board seems to be putting out non-linear voltages from my position encoder. Does anyone know why?

    LA 75,
Thanks for your answe,r here are mine.
    1. The 7344 worked fine until I stuck the PCI 6034E in it. I have an update for you on the problem which I learned after more testing. The quaditure count on the encoder is 16384
I only need to measure -20 to 90 degree angles in my application. When I set up my DAQ channel (using a PCI 6025E which I still have in place) I calibrated based on +10 volts
out of the 7344 DAC channel (axis 3) = 90 degrees an 0 volts = 0 degrees. What's really happening is that the DAC output is now 12.4 volts and its saturating the DAQ input
channel. If I recalibrate with 0 volts = 45 degrees I can work around the problem...the thing is I don't know what caused this and what other safety implications there might be.
    2. The new board (PCI 6034E) is in the last slot and the 7344 is in the first slot...in between is an ethernet card and the PCI 6025E.
    3. I do not have another PC to test this thing in.
