Data disappears when a field is added to report

I have a report that uses two files. The first one has a field called "amount code", and the second includes that code field as well as a description of the code.
But when I link that second file to the first one, data disappears when I drag a field from the second file into the report. The first 10 fields in the report are from the first file, and they look fine. But as soon as I drag in any of the fields from the second file, all of the data in the report disappears. (This happens no matter where I drag that field to...data, page headers, etc.)
I'm pretty sure I have the files linked correctly. Can anyone tell my why this happens?
(When I use the either file by itself, things look fine.)

I think I have it figured out (or more accurately, our DBA figured it out for me).
The problem is that in the main file, the code field is only one digit long (string). But in the second file (the code description file), that code field is 8 digits long, even though only the first digit has any data (followed by 7 blanks). Therefor CR doesn't see any matches.
It looks like the solution is to truncate the field in the code description file so it's only one digit long instead of 8.
But thanks for the help...I'm clearly over my head, and very much appreciate your assistance.

    We have added some new fields to the existing database table(Customize). One of the fields is POD_date (data element- sydatum).
    When we look for entries in table with condition POD_DATE EQ '00/00/0000' or space it gives fewer entries. In place it has to give 18k old entries with 00/00/0000 which it doesnt. Ideally it should have done '00/00/0000'  for all older records as there wasnt field at that time. When fetch without above condition it gives 18k records with field in POD (00/00/0000) but when same thing is given in selectioon criterion it gives fewer.

    Dear all,
    I encounter quite the same problem :
    We added an include to the table EKKO containing several fields such as ZZTYPC.
    The initialization flag was not set at creation time so the new fields were populated with the NULL value.
    We would like now to initialize the value for all the records of the field ZZTYPC to avoid problems when we use this field as a selection criteria in Tx SE16.
    As suggested in the previous post, I checked the initilization flag for this field at the structure level (Dictionary : Display structure), save & activate but the modification is not carried over the table EKKO : the "initial values" check box stays unchecked for the field ZZTYPC thus the adaptation of EKKO is useless.
    We use DB2 as database.
    You help would be appreciated.

  • Automatically update Data Flow when table column is added

    Hi, I have identical SQL Server databases on Server A and Server B, and I'm trying to create an SSIS package that will update its own Data Flow task when I've added a new column.  
    When I open the SSIS package up in Data Tools after adding the column, I get the following warning: 'The external columns for OLE DB Destination are out of synchronization with the data source columns. The column "TestColumn" needs to be added to
    the external columns.'  So the package know when it's out of sync with the db.  
    Is there a way to automatically update the external columns?

  • Data disappears when exporting.

    I've just discovered a problem with one of my reports that seems to be dropping information from the details when I export it to a file type. I have reports set to run in enterprise on a weekly basis showing outstanding purchase orders. The report runs correctly when I run it directly from Crystal Reports XI r2, but when it is exported to a different file type, some lines of detail are missing. I have exported to a number of different file types, and still the problems occur. I can print the report from Crystal, and all the data is there.
    There aren't any formulas suppressing any data anywhere in the report
    Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    When you use a report to export, it is best to ensure :
    1. all fields on each sectoin are same height ; and
    2. all fields witin the same column are aligned.
    Otherwise, some data could be missing when export especially Excel because some rows / columns are merged.

  • Why do windows source directory files disappear when their folder is added to iTunes?

    I just got a new Windows 8 computer and installed iTunes. I then copied all of my music to my new computer from the old one into a similar \data\music directory organized by artist and album.
    On the old computer (XP)when I add a folder from \data\music to itunes the source album music files remain inplace.
    On the new computer (W8) when I add a folder from \data\music to itunes the source album music files disappear.
    However, although the album directory is empty, the "parent MUSIC directory" hasn't changed in size. Is iTunes encrypting the source files? Itunes Help does have anything on this happening.
    How do I access my source files if I want to do something with them?
    This is scary stuff. Luckily I still have a copy on my old computer.
    Any clarification on this would really be appreciated.

    Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
    iTunes 11 also adds a Home Videos folder...
    Your library is obviously in the newer layout, the designated media folder (red outline) is C:\Data\Music and the option Keep iTunes Media folder organized is enabled, so music goes in C:\Data\Music\Music\<Artist>\<Album> etc.
    If you're interested you could probably "normaiize" your library with a few carefully chosen steps...

    And that is why many responders use only the custom JavaScript calculation option.
    The UI for the select fields and simplified field nations are only a way to pass field names to a JavaScript function that performs the actual calculation. Sometimes these functions call other functions and pass the parameters can lead to errors in the attempted code.
    I would start to learn code JavaScript for Acrobat.
    The pick field dialog is for performing calculations involving sums, products, averages, minimum, and maximum. I am not sure how that would work with a digital signature. Once a signature is applied the form fields could be locked.

    I have a formula which works well when there is data but when I purge the webi report I get #Error for the cells wherever I have used UserResponse and ToDate function in the same formula.
    Ex: =FormatDate(ToDate(UserResponse("Enter Modified Date:");"M/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss a");"MM/dd/yyyy")
    I tired in multiple reports. I get the same error in all reports when i purge the data but when i unpurge and show the reports with data, I won't get any error.
    Is this known issue? If anyone knows the solution. Please answer it.

    Thanks a lot for all your efforts in trying to find the solution to my question but the formula that you had has a error, as you were using commas instead of semicolon. If you want I can change it & it's not a big deal.
    By the way, I have found even better solution.
    Substrings will kill the processing time and we should try to avoid string functions as much as possible. So I used IsError function instead.

    I am facing problem with inventory management.
    Here we have nearly 15 plants.  10 are already there and 5 are newly added in the last month.
    For the previous 10 plants we are getting the valuated stock perfectly, but i am checking for the remaining 5 new plants data is mismatching.
    while comparing the values from R/3 (MB5B) to the BW query values are different.  So i have checked the contents of Cube.
    There i found a pecular thing that some records having Movement type 641 and Stock Type H. These values are not getting cumulated in the report.  Only these values are coming for the new 5 plants.
    I have already checked the Snotes 589024, 417703.
    Please suggest me how to overcome from this issue.

    As I already said Stock type is defined as same as the previous plants.  But still we are not able to get the data in the query.
    In the cube level I am able to see the data, but when we are going for the report then we are not getting the values which are present in the cube where Stock Type is H.

  • User entered data disappears from view in fields after entry in Reader 9

    This is a repost. The form was recreated and same problem (see below) has occurred. The person who has created these forms is a basic user, and so is not changing any settings or doing any programming, just adding fill-in fields (text boxes) and check boxes, then distributing by email through Acrobat. The problem also occurs with other forms. I cannot find any information on this problem anywhere. Any new ideas? File is attached.
    A simple form with basic text boxes is created in LiveCycle ES and distributed with Acrobat Pro 9. All users have been upgraded to Acrobat Reader 9. But when the user fills in the form in Reader, the text disappears when they tab or enter into the next field. Check boxes are fine. The user also does not see the data when printing. But, after submission, the data can be seen and printed from Acrobat Pro 9 by the original sender.

    This form image was created using a Toshiba MFP and had form fields added with Acrobat. There appears to be a font problem. I saved the form in Acrobat Pro Extended 9. When I opened the form in Reader 9 I was asked to install Japanese fonts since the form uses the KozMinPrN6-Regular font.
    After dismissing the install request, the form fields behaved predictibly in Reader 9 (with the exception of requesting 10MB of Japanese fonts).

    I am not aware of a field type "Help" within a PDF form. I do not see it as a form field that can be added in the form edit mode.
    Forms Central forms do not support all the features of Acrobat forms.
    Are you talking about the "Tool Tips" or a hidden field that only shows when one enters a field and is hidden upon exiting the field.

    You can select the Payment Term at PO Header Level.
    When you book an invoice, that Payment Term will automatically defaulted to Invoice.
    You can define Payment Term in AP.
    Payment terms have one or more payment terms lines, each of which creates one scheduled payment. Each payment terms line and each corresponding scheduled  payment has a due date or a discount date based on either a specific day of a month, such as the 15th of the month, or a number of days added to your terms date, such as 14 days after the terms date.

    I think the data in the PDF file was filled-in using MAC preview.
    One option is to ask the user to fill the file again using Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
