Question: Can i have the data manager prompt give parent node selection by default instead of only base members
I have product dimension with ProductLine as parent node and Product Item as base member. In one of our process we have a BADI which takes the Product Line and does amount calculation for all the Product Items underneath it.
My current setup is in the data manager package have a prompt for Product dimension selection. User has to select the Product Line but when the dimension selection opens it by default opens with CALC=N filter which makes the selection only on Product Items. User has to remove the filter, refresh and then select the correct Product Line parent node. Once this is done, the script logic just calls the BADI and in BADI we read the dimension selection. so it goes smoothly.
But users are making frequent mistake by selecting the Product Item (shown default) instead of Product Line(parent), understandably so.
Main question: Can i have the prompt show the parent nodes in selection (custom filtered based on property Product Type ="PL")
What alternatives you may have taken for this situation.

The script looks absolutely fine. It should have worked fine. You just don't need the INFO statement.

As per the link also, SELECT is for all the members, whereas SELECTINPUT is for non-calculated members.
Can you please share the screenshot of the screen where the member needs to be selected.

BPC NW 10.0 - Data Manager Prompt changing from SELECTINPUT to SELECT cleared values

Dear BPC Experts,
We recently went from SP13 patch 4 to SP19 patch 1. When we made changes in the PROMPT values in the Data Manager Organize>Package>Modify Script>PROMPT, we experienced different behavior switching from SELECTINPUT to SELECT in our development system than we did in our production environment. In development, when we changed the value from SELECTINPUT to SELECT, the values entered for Variable name such as %SELECTION% in Property1 and "Select the members to CLEAR" in Property2, and %DIMS% remained. However, when we changed from SELECTINPUT to SELECT in production system, the values for Variable Names and Properties were cleared out. Does anyone know why in our developmet system values were kept but not in our production system during this type of activity? I would like to understand the two different behaviors and what controlled it. We prefer not to have the values for Properties clear.

Excellent point, I should have included images as that likely would have shown this odd behavior.
When I made the changes in our development system to a package to switch from SELECTINPUT to SELECT the values outlined in the image below were retained for Varialbe Name, Property 2, and Property 3 after we applied the SP19 patch 1.
When I made the same change in our system to a package in our production system after we applied the SP19 patch 1, the values for Varialbe Name, Property 2, and Property 3 were cleared per the image below. The odd thing is that initially it looked like the values stayed. It was only after you saved and went back in did you see that the values were gone.
Any help in understanding this behavior change would be greatly appreciated.

What is PROMPT(MESSAGE,[label]) significance in SAP BPC data manager

Hi All,
Do you know the significance of PROMPT(MESSAGE,[label]) of data manager dynamic script editor?
I want to generate a message using this prompt which should be dynamically able to resolve the category in the message itself.
For E.g. In Category dimension for property ID and member FC_CUR i need to check the property PRIOR_Forecast and retreive its member, say FC_SEP. This should be used in my message something like as depicted below:
PROMPT(MESSAGE,"This package will archive the data for prior month %PRIOR_FCST%")
but this command is returning
"This package will archive the data for prior month %PRIOR_FCST%" wheras, the actual desired output is
"This package will archive the data for prior month FC_SEP"
Could you please help me with this or any other TASK/PROMPT/INFO that i can use to achieve this?

Hi Siva,
The desired output message is to substitute the prior forecast dynamically.
In LGF file the code to fetch the prior forecast month is as shown below:
*SELECT (%PRIOR_FCST%,"[FC_CAT]","CATEGORY","[ID]='FC_CUR'")
I want to fetch this in dynamic script editor or make some variable that can be embedded within the message.
PROMPT(MESSAGE,"This package would archive the data for prior month %PRIOR_FCST%").
Could you please suggest any work around?

How to set a variable value on the BPC Data Manager

Hello BPC Experts,
I'm creating a BPC10 NW version demo environment for our prospect customer.
I made a data manager to import BW data into BPC model from BW cube.
I need to import just one month data into BPC from the BW cube that has more than one month data.
When I run the data package manually, I can select a member of the time dimension prompt and I can import specific month data I want.
But, in a case where the program (data manager) runs by JOB monthly,
I can't select a member of the time dimension prompt manually.
So I want to know how to set a variable value to the time dimension prompt from a system date etc. automatically.
Are there any way to set a variable value to the time dimension prompt on the data manager automatically from a system date?
Or, do you have any other solution to import just one month data into BPC from the BW cube that has more than one month data by the data manager running on JOB ?
(without selecting a member of the time dimension prompt of the data package manually)

How to use another application's Dimension or not assigned in Data Manager

DATASRC IS NOT A MEMBER OF APPLICAION
It's for fIltering purpose at Package selection
because there are a lot of member id in Dimension but
i want to display specified members to choose for Script Logic

Hi,
A data manager package applies to a particular application only. It cannot access dimensions from another application.

System and Query field disable in Data Manager for Netweaver BI

Dear All.
i have installed Xcelsius Engage Server 2008, when i try to add connection for SAP Netweaver BI from the Data Manager the dialog appears correctly but in Defination TAB only the Name field is enable both System and Query field is disable.
without that how can i configure the connection please let me know how to fix this issue.

Hi,
You give the name of the connection and then click on "Browse". It will then prompt you to connect to the desired system. Log in and then select the appropriate query you want to build a dashboard on.

MDM data manager

Hi Kannan,
Data Manager can only connect to repositories that are loaded and running on a running MDM Server. To check this, you have to use MDM Console:
1. Start MDM Console and mount your MDM Server. A green arrow icon before your server name indicates that your MDM Server is running. If not, start the MDM Server.
2. You'll see a list of repositories available for this server. If your repository is not visible, you have to mount it first. You can do so by right-clicking on the server and choose the action from the context menu. If your repository is visible, login to the repository and check the repository state. Again a green arrow icon before your repository indicates that the repository is loaded. If not, load the repository! As soon as your repository is running, you can conntect to it with the Data Manager.

Default File Selection while Running Data Manager Package

Hi BPC Experts,
What i wanted to know is that is possible to make a file selection as "Default" for running a data manager package.Say for example i wanted to run a simple DMP "Load Transaction data from from BW InfoProvider UI" and the file that i always select is "ZFIGL010" for this is it possible to get "ZFIGL010" file as pre-populated (or pre-selected)instead user going and choosing from long list of files available "Info Provider Selection".

Rahul,
As Ashish said you cant get rid of the info provider name selection as you are using the /CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROV_UI pkg. But if you use /CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROVIDER package you can follow the below steps to get rid of the selection.
Comment the below prompt statement in the Advance script of the pkg which asks you to select the Info provider.Its the first statement of the script. You can comment by putting a ' before begining of the statement.
PROMPT(TEXT,%InforProvide%,"Please enter InfoProvider to download data",)
Add a INFO statement and pass the same INFO statement to the Task. Please refer to image below.

BPC10 - Data manager package for dimension data export and import

Dear BPC Expers,
Need your help.
I am trying to set up a data manager package for first time to export dimension - master data from one application and import in another application ( both have same properties) .
I created a test data manager package from Organize > add package > with process chain /CPMB/EXPORT_MD_TO_FILE and Add
In the advance tab of each task there are some script logic already populated. please find attached the details of the script logic written under each of the tasks like MD_Source, concvert and target .
I have not done any chnages in the script inside the task .
But when i run the package , I have selected a dimension 'Entity' but in second prompt ,it ask for a transformation file , and syatem autometically add the file ... \ROOT\WEBFOLDERS\COLPAL\FINANCE\DATAMANAGER\TRANSFORMATIONFILES\Import.xls
I have not changed anything there
in the next prmpt , it ask for a output file ..and it won't allow me enter the file name .....i
Not sure how to proceed further.
I shall be greatfull if someone guide me from your experiance how to set up a simple the data manager package for master data export from dimension . Should I update the transformation file in the script for import file and output file in the advance tab. how and what transformation file to be created and link to the data manager package for export / import .
What are the steps to be executed to run the package for exporting master data from dimension and import it another application .

1. Perhaps you want to consider a system copy to a "virtual system" for UAT?
2. Changes in QAS (as with PROD as well) will give you the delta. They should ideally be clean... You need to check the source system.
Another option is to generate the profiles in the target system. But for that your config has to be sqeaky clean and in sync, including very well maintained and sync'ed Su24 data.

Enabling data management for a coldfusion data service

Hello,
i have problem in calling a service withen a data service ,, that if i enable the data management i cant insert or update records , if i desable the data manabemt i can insert records but dont have result for get all or any get service all . it was working befor now no i completly remove the data service and created it again but the same problem even i deleted the valueobject and all the actionscript file related to that data service i have the same problem.
but
if i call the create record function ,, then i try to get the record i get the resutl from the database ?!!!
can someone help please

I saw the tutorial but that doesn't actually show how to configure for POST - it just uses GET and DELETE. When you configure for POST, you get prompted to "Specify an XSD that describes the structure of the request content". That implies that it is going to send the service an XML file as the attachment and wants to know the format of the XML file. The service that I want to use doesn't expect to receive an XML file, it expects form fields, and I think HTML forms send these like this:
p_zip_code=22209
p_selection=a
p_selection=b
p_selection=cOf course, the correct answer to my question may be "You can't get there from here" at least until 12c.
Ah ha! I see that some of what Frank mentioned is in the newly released 11.1.2.2, and didn't wait for 12c. I'll give that a try.

Automate Data Manager - for particular infocube in BW

Experts,
How to run process chain /CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROVIDER in the RSPC and hard code it to certain Infocube in BW.
OR
is there a process type which loads data from BW cube to BPC cube using data manager and NOT switching the cubes?
I see that we can use program UJD_TEST_PACKAGE to automate ,but my DM is not running.
I gave the answer prompts below ,can u please let me know if it is correct or the right syntax and method ?
also does the userid need to be SYSTEM userid ?

Set Filter in Data Manager

Hi Experts,
Does anyone know how I can set the filter for the DM packages so that only members that I want to appear will be prompted to the users when they click the member selector for a specific dimension? Right now the only filter setup is for "CALC=N", what if I want to add another filter as default? Does anybody know where I can configure it?

Hi Marvin,
The Data Manager member selector gives you a hierarchical view of a dimension's members so you can choose one or more of them, depending on the context. You can use the member selector anywhere you see a choose members button in the Data Manager interface, such as when you run a package. You can also use the member selector when you select a dimension and click the Show Member List button on the Data Manager toolbar. The Member Selector dialog box that displays after clicking the choose members button allows you to browse and select members. Additionally, you can save and load filters that you set up.
When you create a filter by filling out the filter section of the member selector dialog box, you can save it and then reuse it later.
You can use the Manage Filter button to save the filter, and then you can choose that filter from the User filter list to load the filter.
To save and load member selector filters
1. Access the member selector. For example, run a package and then click the choose members button.
2. Choose the filter criteria from the filter lists.
3. Click the Manage Filter button, type the name of the filter, and then click the Save button.
4. To load the filter at a later time, choose it from the User Filter list at the top.
5. To delete a filter, choose it from the User Filter list, click the Manager Filter button, and then click the Remove button.

You will need to include prompt in your package to let end users to input the variable value and then you need to pass it to logic script using *FUNCTION instruction inside.
So in the end you should have the following lines in your MODIFYSCRIPT:

Data Manager Clear Package - VBA Automation Parameters

Hello guys,
I have built an input sheet, where the user selects members from BPC dimensions (ACCDETAIL,ACCOUNT, ACTIVITY,ASSET, etc.). Next, the user clicks on the "Clear Data" button, which triggers a VBA macro (EPM_Clear). This macro should call the BPC clear package and clear the transactional data for the selected members.
I have two problems:
1) How do I pass on the previously selected parameters (i.e. which dimensions to clear) from VBA to the clear package?
2) When I use the following code, it says ‘Package not found’ .
