Data to control slider
How do I get data input from a user interface to control the
position of the pointer on a slider on my bar chart
The position of the pointer on the Slider is controlled by
setting the Slider's value property:
<mx:Slider id="miles" minimum="0" maximum="5000" />
miles.value = 238;
I don't know what other control you have in mind for changing
the position of the pointer, but most interactive controls support
the change event:
... change="miles.value=event.currentTarget.
value" ...
If the control were a NumericStepper, then value would be the
right property; if the control were a ComboBox, then you might want
the currentIndex or perhaps a field of the currentItem.

Want Access Data Grid control in SharePoint 2013?
Hello everyone!
Recently we noticed something funny in SharePoint 2013. While quite many people were hoping to have the datasheet view like those in SP2007 and 2010, Microsoft has chosen a different interface to display datasheet view.
Now, if you try to create a sub site under a publishing site, and use the
Publishing Site template then try to create a datasheet view in the sub site, SharePoint will try to use the Access data grid control to display the view. In some situations the view will display and other situations it will not, and will show this
error:
The list is displayed in Standard view. It cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls,
a component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled.
If you create a sub site using Publishing Site with Workflow instead, then the datasheet view will be created properly using SP2013 interface.
Using PowerShell, we can see that both Publishing Portal and
Publishing Site With Workflow are using the BLANKINTERNET 53 template. The
Publishing Site on the other hand is using the CMSPUBLISHING 39 template.
Want to try it out and let me know if that happens to your SharePoint too?Hi Conway,
I tested the issue in my environment per your description and it returned the results as below:
I created a subsite using Publishing site under a team site in SharePoint server 2013, the datasheet view in a list displayed as pic1
I reproduced the issue in SharePoint server 2010, the datasheet view in a list displayed as pic2
It turns out by design the datasheet view in the subsite based on Publishing site template displays as your situation. Here is an article which explains this:

While there can be many causes for this generic error message, in my case the first parameter or ddwrt:DataBind function inside the SharePoint:FormFields element was
'i' and I was working with an Edit Form. Changing it to
'u' as it was with every other FormField fixed the issue.
<SharePoint:FormField runat="server" id="ff1{$Pos}" ControlMode="Edit" FieldName="Esittaja" __designer:bind="{ddwrt:DataBind('u',concat('ff1',$Pos),'Value','ValueChanged','ID',ddwrt:EscapeDelims(string(@ID)),'@Esittaja')}"
/>
Explanation:
DataBind operation type parameters (the first parameter) are listed below:
'i' stands for INSERT,
'u' stands for UPDATE,
'd' stands for DELETE.

Control parallel port (data and control lines)
I need to control the output on the parallel port (LPT1) - Both data and control lines. Once the data is written (Pins2-9), I then need to toggle the Sprocket signal (PIN1) - on the parallel port. The sprocket signal is also referred to as the Data Strobe Output.
The required method is as follows:
1. Lower the sprocket signal on PIN1
2. Send the data (Pins2-9) and wait
3. Raise the sprocket signal and wait.
4. Repeat.
I am looking for a method to control the data on LPT1 pins 2-9 and then be able to toggle PIN1 - Strobe signal - without the data falling from the other pins. What I have found is that whenever the state is changed on the strobe - the data that was written to Pin2-9 falls to zero. This will not work for my application - the strobe tells the hardware device that the data is ready. If it falls to zero when I toggle the strobe - that will not work.
Regards,
GuyHello Adam,
I am familiar with both references. If you look more closely at the library reference - it allows me to communicate using VISA across the parallel port pins 2-9. It does not permit direct communication to pin1 (the strobe signal) - property nodes don't allow the strobe to be refereced either (similar to control lines/signals for COM ports).
Worse, I have also located examples using OUT PORT that does enable pin1 to be toggled. The problem is, when those VIs are used, the data falls from the data pins when the strobe signal is written, even if its value is not changed. For example, if the strobe is already high, if another high value is passed, the data falls from the data lines. The other issue, when using VISA, as soon as the data is writen, the strobe signal automatically goes high even though I need a wait before setting the strobe high. This is in complete contradiction to the second article you referenced which clearly discusses writing data to pins2-9 then taking the strobe high to indicate to the printer that new data is available. It must be possible since this is the typical handshake.
I am still looking for a more complete answer/solution.

Mark Feetham Senior Supportability Program Manager, Internet Explorer.Hello,
There seems to be an entry missing in the
versionlist.xml file.
There is an entry missing for wsdetect.dll (isInstalled Class ActiveX Control) from Java 1.7, I believe (there is an entry for 1.6, 1.5, 1.4 but 1.7 is missing).
Here is the relevant portion of the XML file:
<blocklistentry key="{5852f5ed-8bf4-11d4-a245-0080c6f74284}" entrytype="2">
<versionentries numberofelements="4">

<versionentry groupname="Java(TM)" filename="*" productversion="*" fileversion="*" />

This causes the alert prompt to appear when using Java 1.7 update 67 even though it's allowed by XML.
To reproduce, please go to a site that uses wsdetect.dll like Wikipedia (like here

Data Access control in J2EE technologies/apps
Hi Guys,
I am working on a project that requires that i implement a mechanism for controlling data access to the content that is displayed on the pages of a Struts based web application.
First off to clarify, i am not refering to the ability for different users to log on to a specific page and or view specific pages. That is a different type of access control. I am more interested in the "Data Access" i.e. where multiple users can view the same page but the data that is displayed depend on the data access control privileges they have.
I am intersted to know of the different approaches/frameworks out there to implementing "data access" control. Is there a framework out there for this kind of thing?
Im thinking to do this the controls/privileges need to be configured (i.e. data access categories, users etc) somewhere probably in the database. The rules can get quite complicated so im wondering whether there is already a framework that i can use to accomplish this rather than implementing it from scratch.
Thinking about how it will work, the rules the govern the access are very specific to our business domain so i am not really sure whether it is possible if there is any third party framework that i can use that is very generic and will allow the rules to be configured.
Thanksyou are right, access control is very application dependent, and is therefore not a good target to turn into a generic framework.
In my opinion the king of security frameworks is Spring Security, so you could take a look at that.
[http://static.springsource.org/spring-security/site/|http://static.springsource.org/spring-security/site/]
Other than that, I have used a simple setup using Javaserver Faces. I had a user bean with a set of boolean flags indicating the user's capabilities (directly mapped to a database table) and in the components I would have rendered="#{user.userRole}" attributes where necessary, to conditionally switch off elements when the user wasn't allowed to see it, in some cases rendering a readonly view in stead.
Its a chore to test, but quite easy to maintain and to read IMO. -
JDev Team - how to add a Data Aware Control to grid control
The default editor for GridControl cells is a data-aware TextField, but I want to use a ComboBoxControl. If I use the setEditor() method of the TableColumn, the cell is edited using a combo, but there are problems:
1. Navigated events do not fire when focus is moved in or out of the cell and
2. When focus moves to another cell in the same column, the cell losing focus is blanked.
How can I setup/attach a custom editor based on a Data Aware Control to avoid these problems?
The code I am using
1. declares combobox controls to be used with grid as member variables of my frame class
ComboBoxControl comboBoxSrcSystem = new ComboBoxControl();
ComboBoxControl comboBoxSrcSysVersion = new ComboBoxControl();
ComboBoxControl comboBoxSrcTable = new ComboBoxControl();
ComboBoxControl comboBoxSrcColumn = new ComboBoxControl();
2. sets up the combo in the jbInit method of the frame class :
// for gridControlMapRuleSrcCols column SystemName
comboBoxSrcSystem.setListKeyDataItemName("infobus:/oracle/sessionMapTool/rowSetSystemCombo/SystemName");
comboBoxSrcSystem.setListValueDataItemName("infobus:/oracle/sessionMapTool/rowSetSystemCombo/SystemName");
comboBoxSrcSystem.setDataItemNameForUpdate("infobus:/oracle/sessionMapTool/rowSetMapRuleSrcCols/SystemName");
3. In the frame constructor calls a method to add combos to the grid
addMapSrcColGridCombos();
which is defined as
private void addMapSrcColGridCombos() {
// add combos to gridControlMapRuleSrcCols grid
JTable mapSrcColTable = gridControlMapRuleSrcCols.getTable(); // access the JTable
addComboEditor( mapSrcColTable, "SystemName", comboBoxSrcSystem );
addComboEditor( mapSrcColTable, "SystemVersion", comboBoxSrcSysVersion );
addComboEditor( mapSrcColTable, "TableName", comboBoxSrcTable );
addComboEditor( mapSrcColTable, "ColumnName", comboBoxSrcColumn );
4. It makes use of the following method:
private void addComboEditor( JTable table, String colName, ComboBoxControl combo )
TableColumn col = table.getColumn(colName);
col.setCellEditor( new DefaultCellEditor( combo ) );
nullGiven the usual deafening silence from the JDev team, I'll post my resolution of the problem.
I could not find a way of creating an editor directly from a ComboBoxControl which would behave properly in a GridControl. However, JComboBox does work, so I
1. add a Navigated listener to the GridControl
2. in the navigatedInColumn event handler I create a JComboBox from a ScrollableRowsetAccess and
3. use it to create a custom CellEditor for the target column.
(I also remove the editor in the currently focused column in the navigatedOutColumn, but I don't think this is strictly necessary.)
This solution also works after a Rollback, when the columns of the gridcontrol are reset/rebuilt, and handles dynamic combos that are dependent on the current row values.
Unfortunately, unlike ComboBoxControl JComboBox does not allow for a key/value mapping, so the combo editor can only display the values to selected from, not a user-friendly label.
I attach some code snippets to illustrate the solution:
1. declare member variables
// declarations for Custom Grid Editors
NavigationManager navMgr = NavigationManager.getNavigationManager();
static String SYS_NAME_COL_NAME = "SystemName";
static String SYS_VER_COL_NAME = "SystemVersion";
static String TAB_NAME_COL_NAME = "TableName";
static String COL_NAME_COL_NAME = "ColumnName";
RowSetInfo rowSetSystemCombo = new RowSetInfo();
AttributeInfo SystemNamerowSetSystemCombo = new AttributeInfo();
ScrollableRowsetAccess sysNameComboRS = (ScrollableRowsetAccess)rowSetSystemCombo.getRowsetAccess();;
static ImmediateAccess sysNameComboIA = SystemNamerowSetSystemCombo.getImmediateAccess();
static RowSetInfo rowSetMapTgtColTableCombo = new RowSetInfo();
static AttributeInfo TableNamerowSetMapTgtColTableCombo = new AttributeInfo(java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);
static ScrollableRowsetAccess tgtTabNameComboRS = (ScrollableRowsetAccess)rowSetMapTgtColTableCombo.getRowsetAccess();;
static ImmediateAccess tgtTabNameComboIA = TableNamerowSetMapTgtColTableCombo.getImmediateAccess();
2. in jbInit() set up the combo rowsets (use Design mode)
SystemNamerowSetSystemCombo.setName("SystemName");
rowSetSystemCombo.setAttributeInfo( new AttributeInfo[] {
SystemNamerowSetSystemCombo} );
rowSetSystemCombo.setQueryInfo(new QueryViewInfo(
"SystemComboView",
rowSetSystemCombo.setSession(sessionMapTool);
rowSetSystemCombo.setName("rowSetSystemCombo");
SystemVersionrowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setName("SystemVersion");
rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setAttributeInfo( new AttributeInfo[] {
SystemVersionrowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo} );
rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setQueryInfo(new QueryViewInfo(
"SourceSystemVersionComboView",
"SYSTEM_VERSION DESC"));
rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setMasterLinkInfo
(new ViewLinkInfo(rowSetMapRuleSrcCols,"MapTool.MapRuleSrcColSysVersionComboLink"));
rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setSession(sessionMapTool);
rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo.setName("rowSetMapSrcColSysVersionCombo");
TableNamerowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setName("TableName");
rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setAttributeInfo( new AttributeInfo[] {
TableNamerowSetMapSrcColTableCombo} );
rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setQueryInfo(new QueryViewInfo(
"SourceTableComboView",
"TABLE_NAME"));
rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setMasterLinkInfo
(new ViewLinkInfo(rowSetMapRuleSrcCols,"MapTool.MapRuleSrcColTableComboLink"));
rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setSession(sessionMapTool);
rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo.setName("rowSetMapSrcColTableCombo");
ColumnNamerowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setName("ColumnName");
rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setAttributeInfo( new AttributeInfo[] {
ColumnNamerowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo} );
rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setQueryInfo(new QueryViewInfo(
"TargetColumnComboView",
"column_name"));
rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setMasterLinkInfo
(new ViewLinkInfo(rowSetMapRuleTgtCols,"MapTool.MapRuleTgtColColumnLink"));
rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setSession(sessionMapTool);
rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo.setName("rowSetMapTgtColColumnCombo");
3. add methods to handle the Navigated events (use Design mode to ensure add listener code
is generated)
void gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedInColumn(NavigatedEvent e) {
debug("gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedInColumn");
show_nav_info();
String dataItemName = navMgr.getTargetDataItemName();
String columnName = dataItemName.substring(dataItemName.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
JTable table = gridControlMapRuleSrcCols.getTable();
if ( SYS_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
addComboEditor( table, columnName, dbMapTool.sysNameComboRS, dbMapTool.sysNameComboIA );

else if ( TAB_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {

else if ( COL_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
addComboEditor( table, columnName, dbMapTool.srcColNameComboRS, dbMapTool.srcColNameComboIA );
void addComboEditor
( JTable table
, String colName
, ScrollableRowsetAccess rs
, ImmediateAccess ia
// note must get TableColumn afresh each time because when grid is reset
// on rollback the Table ColumnModel is rebuilt
TableColumn tc = table.getColumn(colName);
debug("add JComboBox as editor");
Vector v = new Vector();
try {
// Retrieve and store values for JComboBox using the InfoBus API.
boolean moreRows = rs.first();
while (moreRows) {
// stores value in vector
v.addElement(new String(ia.getValueAsString()));
moreRows = rs.next();
// make column Cell Editor a JComboBox with retrieved values
tc.setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(new JComboBox(v)));
catch (Exception e0) {
e0.printStackTrace();
void show_nav_info() {
debug( "Focused Data Item = " + navMgr.getFocusedDataItemName() );
debug( "Target Data Item = " + navMgr.getTargetDataItemName() );
void debug(String s)
System.out.println(s);
void gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedOutColumn(NavigatedEvent e) {
debug("gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedOutColumn");
show_nav_info();
String dataItemName = navMgr.getFocusedDataItemName();
String columnName = dataItemName.substring(dataItemName.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
JTable table = gridControlMapRuleSrcCols.getTable();
if ( SYS_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
removeComboEditor(table, columnName);
else if ( SYS_VER_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
removeComboEditor( table, columnName );
else if ( TAB_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
removeComboEditor( table, columnName );
else if ( COL_NAME_COL_NAME.equals( columnName)) {
removeComboEditor( table, columnName );
void removeComboEditor ( JTable table, String colName ) {
debug("remove JComboBox as editor");
TableColumn tc = table.getColumn(colName);
tc.setCellEditor(null);
4. Note that when navigated event code is added through the designer, jbInit() is
amended to add a Navigated Listener to the grid
gridControlMapRuleSrcCols.addNavigatedListener(new oracle.dacf.control.NavigatedAdapter() {
public void navigatedInColumn(NavigatedEvent e) {
gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedInColumn(e);
public void navigatedOutColumn(NavigatedEvent e) {
gridControlMapRuleSrcCols_navigatedOutColumn(e);

How to Use ADF Region With Data Bound Controls in JDeveloper 10g
I want to use Data Bound ADF Components in Region. Is there any way to acheive this. I want to get Employee Information from a View Object and display it in a region and use this region on different pages.
I could not understand the dynamic part.
Actually the problem is that i use Data Controls in Region but when i use the region in other pages it does not display the Data Control.
Let say i have a data bound outputtext field.
<af:panelLabelAndMessage label="#{bindings.EmpmasterinfoViewEmployeeid.label}">
<af:outputText value="#{bindings.EmpmasterinfoViewEmployeeid.inputValue}"/>
</af:panelLabelAndMessage>
But this field does not display any thing.
How i will be able to diplay other data bound controls like table etc.
Thanks for your reply -
How do you edit date/time title slide???
I've used date/time title slides in my movie, but I can't edit the date/time. I want the time of the clip, instead it just shows the date/time I inserted the title into the movie. On other title slides, you just click on the info to edit but it doesn't seem to work???
ThanksIt will pick up the metadata from the clip.
So the first thing to check is whether your clip has metadata. Click VIEW/PLAYHEAD INFO and skim your mouse over the clip. Do you see any data and time info?
You can add date and time info in iMovie by right-clicking on the Event clip and editing the date and time. i am not sure if this will populate the title, but it might. In older versions of iMovie, it would not.
A better solution (assuming you know the date and time) is to select that clip in the Event.
Then right-click on the clip and select Reveal in Finder.
In the Finder, right-click/COPY. Go to your desktop and right-click PASTE. On this copy of the clip, change the name of the clip to clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss;ext where hh is hours in 24 hour time, ext is the current extension, and the rest should be self explanatory.
Once you have done this, import it into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT/MOVIES...
It is OK to import it into the same Event.
Now it should have the correct date and time metadata. -
Problem with the log file path on the Data Logging Control Veristand
Hello everyone,
My problem is that I use a computer as a gateway on the network. It is connected to PXI in Real Time. I have another computer connected to the gateway to read the given PXI. I am unable to record on my local hard drive using the Data Logging Control VeriStand on the second computer. However, it can save me on the hard disk on the network. Moreover, I have no problem to record if the computer is a gateway.
Regards,
Kamal BouamranFor simplicity, let's call the computer running Veristand Computer A and the gateway computer Computer B.
So, just to clarify, you're running the Veristand workspace on Computer A, which is connected to your network and the RT PXI (on which the system definition file is deployed) through a gateway, Computer B. With this setup, you can't use a data logging control to save a file to Computer A's hard drive. However, you are (from the workspace running on Computer A) able to save a file to Computer B's disk or to another drive elsewhere on your network. Is that all correct?
What happens when you try to configure the control to log to computer A's disk? Do you get an error (and if so, what error)? Does the file path default to a different location?
Also, what version of Veristand are you using? What version of Windows are you PCs running?

Working with data navigation controls
Hi Experts,
I am developing an add-on and chose to create and register it as user-defined object in Business One as document type. I have managed to utilized its features. However, I am unsuccessful in making the data navigation controls work (next, previous, first, and last record).
Hope somebody could shed some light on how to properly do it.
Thanks.Hello
If you using UDO, and building your form based on UDO type the navigation buttons working automatically
same code for building your form.
Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
Dim creationPackage As SAPbouiCOM.FormCreationParams
creationPackage = SBO_Application.CreateObject(SAPbouiCOM.BoCreatableObjectType.cot_FormCreationParams)
creationPackage.UniqueID = "YOURUDONAME"
creationPackage.FormType = "YOURUDONAME"
creationPackage.ObjectType = "YOURUDONAME"
creationPackage.BorderStyle = SAPbouiCOM.BoFormBorderStyle.fbs_Sizable
oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.AddEx(creationPackage)
The important parameter is:
>creationPackage.ObjectType = "YOURUDONAME"
and you should provide a fields which is drives the browser object. This example for Mater Data Type UDO, ITEM UID is CODE and the browseBy Property of this form is linked to this item UID.
oItem = oForm.Items.Add("CODE", BoFormItemTypes.it_EDIT)
oItem.Top = nTop
oItem.Left = 220
oItem.Width = 100
oItem.SetAutoManagedAttribute(BoAutoManagedAttr.ama_Editable, BoAutoFormMode.afm_All, BoModeVisualBehavior.mvb_False)
oEditText = oItem.Specific
oEditText.DataBind.SetBound(True, "@UDOTABLENAME", "CODE")
oForm.DataBrowser.BrowseBy = "CODE"
