Database Activity Tracking

Hey Gang,
I need to track the User and table activity. My goal is to find out what tables are static and which are not. Which user classes should be changed and how access should be assigned. This will also allow me to tune the database accordingly.

Instead of trying to track individual user and table usage look at statspack for issues related to tuning the database. Generally unless you really did a poor job laying out and configuring your db to begin with the db does not need much tuning. The SQL is another story.

BI publisher report : why "Database Usage Tracking Summary" repport is empty ?

I'me using BI publisher intergated to Grid Control12c (R3), trying to get "Database Usage Tracking Summary" report folowing Oracle documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/usage_reports.htm#EMADM13568)
And I have 2 problems :
1) FTPburst delivery is not working, sftp is configured but still have the folowing error

Thank You for your quick reply. The table permission was alright.
Its very strange that, we configure usage tracking in obiee 11.1.1.6.0 using enterprise manager and that how all document says. And then it should automatically update the "NQSCONFIG.INI". But it was not updated there. So we need to change all configuration settings in both "Enterprise Manager" and also in the "NQSCONFIG.INI". Then it works fine!!

Can't find App for an activity tracker is AUS store..only available on US store

I just bought a wireless tracker from the US.
I live in Australia.
The recommended app to use is from the US store but I only have an account in the Australian app store.
I tried to sync it via bluetooth but my iPhone can't find the device.
It doesn't mention anywhere on the product that it is only for use in the US.
Any suggestions on how I can access the app(or one that will work with the tracker) via an Australian App store?
The product is by Sharper Image and it's called a Wireless Activity Tracker #STRX10

The code you have in the rules file looks like it is incorrect. PCon would not be defined automatically and would therefore return zero. I think what you are actually looking for is something like:

Note that you can determine if the consolidation rules are used from you metadata under AppSettings. Look for the setting called ConsolidationRules. If you set this to Y, it uses the rules under Sub Consolidate(), if you set it N, it will automatically consolidate even if you have nothing under Sub Consolidate().
Further, you can affect what gets consolidated in the metadata. Some of your accounts etc. may not be set correctly. Some things to check:
For Accounts, make sure that IsConsolidated is checked and the AccountType is correct
Also for Accounts, ensure that EnableCustom1Aggr ... is checked
Finally, if the Entities have different currencies, check if you are getting data up to [Parent Total]. If not, the problem is your translation and not your consolidation.

My iPad 1 won't pair with my iHealth Activity Tracker

I am having trouble with my iPad 1st generation pairing with an iHealth Activity Tracker I just recently purchased. I have the latest IOS. The app downloaded fine, but my iPad can not find the tracker. The app is telling me to manually input the Tracker device.

According to their own website, it doesn't appear the First Gen iPad is compatible with the tracker.

Secure Zone Customer Activity Tracking

I'm new to Business Catalyst, so this may be obvious to some of you, but I have a question about tracking customer activity on my Business Catalyst site. I can track logins into Secure Zones, but only whether/not the customer has logged into the site.
What I'd really like to do is track a customer's usage of the site - in other words, I'd like to see what a customer's activity looks like on the site. So if a customer goes from Home (secure zone login), to About, to whatever other page. I suppose how much time they spend is too granular, but if I could figure out how to track their site usage, it'd really help me with a client. The only way I can see how to do it on my own is to require users to log in to every single page, which compromises far too much usability.
So, how about it? Is there anyone that can provide a suggestion, either using the BC interface, or using some other type of tracking mechanism?

BC can't do that out of the box. You may want to use Google Analytics for that.

Automatic database activation

Suppose we have two mailbox servers: Node 1 and Node 2 in a DAG with two databases: A and B.
A is mounted on node 1 and B is mounted on node 2.
Now Node 2 suffers a hardware failure, a windows failure or lost its connectivity to databases (their databases are located in SAN for instance); will the passive copy of database A located on Node 2 get automatically mounted or I need to run some command?

As per your scenario , database A will remain mounted on the node 1 because we have faced the failure only on node 2.
On node 2 we have only one active copy which is called database B.So during failure database B will get automatically mounted on the node 1 unless the database copy B doesn't have any database level activation block.

Investigate database activity at a specific time

I am working on Oracle 10.2.0.4 database on OEL 5.
We had a heavy load on the database yesterday evening and the database was performing very slowly.
Is it possible to check what activity would have occurred at that time.
OEM can be of help but I thought if there are any other database views other than the AWR which stores these information ?
Any suggestions would be of great help?
If it is only through AWR which tables and columns should i query for relevant data?

Intelligent netflow for user activity tracking

Hi All,
I am looking for a netflow system that can track a specific users activity on the network.
What I am looking for is a system that can take the netflow information and create a link from the IP information to a user or website/server so that you can search for a user and get a complete overview of the users network communication.
Anyone know of such a product?

Scrutinizer can do this. This blog explains how we grab the log but, we can also launch a page for a specific IP address.

Activity tracking incorrect

I am having issues with the following and have submitted feedback to Apple...
I exercised today doing a 25 session and to "top up" my time to 30 mins I then went on the treadmill for a 10 min run. My heart rate was 130 or above the entire duration (I am 50 yo) so this should be enough to register as exercise. But the exercise was not registered on the watch my activity still showed 25 mins.
The calories are also not calculated properly, my treadmill said I burned 49 cal while the watch said 22 active cals and 20 resting, whatever this means, I was active on the treadmill the whole time and not resting. Treadmill has age weight data not heart rate so I would expect the Apple watch to be more accurate.
Also there is fault with the stand time as today it has showed that I missed 4 stand hours... I was up an about all day and stood each time I was prompted long enough to get the "you did it message".
I hope they fix these bugs otherwise for me the watch is...just a watch.

As ShomerMaster is saying, i have the same problem.
I lose about 30% of the calories compared to my Polar RCX5. The odd thing is that the AVG heartbeat and the heartbeat measurements
seems in line. I've checked age/weight/height and they match.
In addition i don't get the explanation about active and resting. I ran for 30 mins @ 140 bpm, i don't see where i could get 50 calories from resting...
In addition, wathever calories got burned during the excercise, i believe should count towards the total calories burned...
The result is that during my daily training i previously burned between 650-750 calories, but now the apple watch is showing around 450 calories...
I think this parameters should be clarified by apple.
one final thing: It would be best if the apple on the iphone would show the complete chart of the training... to keep track of the training zones...which doesn't seem the case right now. When i do crosstraining, i always check where my training zone was mostly...

Database activity in SQL Server

Hi, I m trying to develop a query to get specific information like when the last time queries/transactions were executed against a database, other than by
particular login (Agent service). Is there any way to Develop a query to do this?. and also Return who the user was that last executed the transactions/queries?
I have something from Aaron Bertrand like the below link, But that won't filter the login\user level. Is it doable? Please advise. Thank you!

You can schedule a SQL Server Profiler trace to run and capture the TSQL->SQL:BatchStarting, TSQL->SQL:BatchCompleted and Stored Procedures->RPC:Completed events and make sure you include NTUserName and LoginName columns.
The trace file can then be queried like explained on the following resource:

Can anyone help me in writing a procedure which will help me in monitoring the database, i.e. if anybody changes something inside a table say add, update or delete then this procedure will tell me about every operation on that table??

Seeing database activity in real time.

Just a small question about the monitoring that Oracle provides.
I know that dba_tab_modifications provides information about
the following

number of selects could be critical for OLAP apps, and/or OLTP
systems which are being hammered by (selfish) managers who
demand reports no matter what the impact on end-users (i.e.
the poor drones who enter all the data) is.
Any ideas, URL's, suggestions or whatever appreciated.

I've found the pretty pictures in EM on the performance screens are real good for displaying hammers. It can be a real eye-opener as the big 'uns are not always what you expect, and not always the bottleneck you expect. The downside is the reaction may not be what you desire either (ie, throw more hardware at it!).

Any 3rd party Database Activity Monitoring products that read Archive Logs?

I've been doing lots of research to find auditing-related 3rd party software products that read Oracle's archive log files. Many products are available for 'log' monitoring for security etc., but so far I've not found any that read the actual archive log files themselves. LogMiner is useful, but need to know if other products exist.
