Database Adapters - Limit on max records read/written to a DB table

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a limit to the number of rows/records that a DB Adapter can fetch at one go? We need this information to fine tune the performance.
Thanks

Marc,
I think I was not able to convey what I wanted very clearly. What I needed to know is whether there is an upper limit for the number of records that a DB Adapter can read at a time. For ex. does it say anywhere that I can read a max of 1 million(any such number) rows using my db adapter. Put otherwise, if I try to read more than the max allowed records (1 million in my example) from a table my db adapter might throw an error.

  • Error: Max processing time or Max records limit reached

    Hi All,
    While I run the report in Infoview, I get the below error:
    Unable to retrieve object:
    Max processing time or Max records limit reached
    Kindly suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Meena

    There is a default limit on the number of records returned and on the time out of an 'idle' connection..These could be set in the CMC , however first try to check the query for that report and see if it is applying your record selection criteria at the database level  ( use the Show Sql option and see if all your selection criteria have been turned into WHERE clauses)
    - this will drastically reduces both the number of records returned to the Crystal and the time it takes for...
    You can find setting here:
    CMC>servers>page server>properties
    Its always not recommended to set it to unlimited as page server is not a robust server, you need to schedule such reports that uses job server which is more robust.

  • Max processing time or Max records limit reached (Crystal Reports Server)

    Although my report runs fine from with Crystal Reports (designer), I get an error when I try to run it from the Crystal Reports Server portal.
    I get an error u201CMax processing time or Max records limit reachedu201D.
    How can I solve this problem?
    Iu2019m accessing a DB2 database on an iSeries Server thru ODBC. I know that the report uses a lot of data. Therefore I have set u201Callow query timeout yesu201D within the ODBC data source. The data connection itself is not the problem, I have no problem running other reports on the same connection.
    PS. A do not know whether or not this is the right forum for my post. I first posted within "Java Development - BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, Crystal Reports Server" but I did not get any response.

    I found the answer to my problem:
    1) Log onto the CMC
    2) Goto "Servers" in the dropdown menu
    3) Expand "Service Categories"
    4) Select "Crystal Reports Services
    5) In the right window will be listed the currently running services.  The 2 services that Dell mentioned are in there under "Description":  CrystalReportsProcessingServer and CrystalReports2013ProcessingServer
    Hope this helps somebody else.

    Hi,
    pls let me know whats the limit of max no of concurrent sessions in oracle9i database .
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Oracle no longer offers licensing by the number of concurrent sessions.
    There used to be 2 initialization parameters : - LICENSE_MAX_SESSIONS and LICENSE_SESSIONS_WARNING . these have been deprecated.
    Therefore Jaffer's statements stands.....

    Ok it looks to me that there are more than 20000 rows in your backend system that have to be fetched.
    You can change this limit in the Central Management Console . Login as administrator and go to Servers . Double-click on the Crystal Processign server and change the value in the field Database Records Read When Previewing or Refreshing (0 for unlimited) according to your needs. AFter the change you have to restart the Crystal processing server.

  • Max records that retrieves in pdf and excel

    Hi All,
    I have one XML report whose output should be viewed in excel/pdf.The report is running fine for few number of records and if the count is very large i.e, more than 6lacs the report is erroring out.To my knowledge i am thinking the pdf/excel will have max records that it can handle so it is ending with warning.
    Please can any one help me on this issue.
    Thanks in advance...........
    regards,
    kalyan

    Not sure what you mean, I am guessing here a bit.
    You probably have issues in Excel 2003 due to the fact that it can't handle this amount ??? If so this is due to the max. 64K row limit excel 2003 has. Try excel 2007 (that doesn't have this limit)

  • Opening multiple reports in Crystal Reports for VS causes database connect limit to be reached.  Seems to be no way to force Crystal Reports to close database connection (other than exiting application)

    I am working on upgrading an application that has been in use for many years.  The application is written in VB6 and I have been tasked with upgrading the current application to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio.  I am using Crystal Reports for VS Version 13.0.12.1494.  The system's database is a Sybase SQL Anywhere 16 database with an ODBC connection using integrated login.  Each of the reports has the database connection set up from within the report.  There is only once database server, so each of the reports are pointing to the same DB.  The database server is currently installed as a "Personal Server" with a limit of 10 connections.
    I have implemented the CR viewer as part of a COM-callable wrapper that exposes a COM interface for VB6 to interact with.  Inside of my viewer component is a Winform that embeds the Crystal's Report viewer.  The COM interface basically maps the basic Crystal apis to methods that the VB6 can call (i.e., Load Report, Set Field Text, Update SQL Query, etc).  This architecture is working as designed and the reports are displaying correctly and responding correctly to changes in queries, etc.
    The issue is that after I open 9 reports, the tenth one will respond with an error indicating that the database connection limit has been reached.  The database connections used by the reports aren't released until after the application is closed.  The application is designed for a secure environment that prohibits the non-administrative user from accessing the systems desktop, so asking the user tor restart the application after 10 reports isn't a viable option.
    I have checked and database connection pooling is turned off for the SQL Anywhere 16 driver.
    I have been digging on this for a few days and have tried adding code in the FormClosed event to close and dispose of the Report Document as follows:
    ReportDocument reportDoc= (ReportDocument) crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
    reportDoc.Close();
    reportDoc.Dispose();
    GC.Collect();       // Force garbage collection on disposed items
    I have also tried the following (as well as maybe 20 or so other permutations) trying to fix the issue with no success.
    ReportDocument reportDoc= (ReportDocument) crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
    foreach (Table table in reportDoc.Database.Tables)
         table.Dispose();
    crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = null;
    reportDoc.Database.Dispose();
    reportDoc.Close();
    reportDoc.Dispose();
    reportDoc = (ReportDocument)crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
    GC.Collect();       // Force garabe collection on disposed items
    Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I have been pulling my hair out on this one!

    Hi Ludek,
    Thanks so much for the quick reply.  Unfortunately I did not have time to work on the reporting project Friday afternoon, but did a quick test this morning with some interesting results.  I'm hoping if I describe what I'm doing, you can show me the error of my ways.  This is really my first major undertaking with Crystal Reports.
    If I simply load the report, then close and dispose, I don't hit the limit of 10 files.  Note that I do not logon manually in my code as the logon parameters are all defined within the reports themselves.  The logon happens when you actually view the report.  Loading the report doesn't seem to actually log in to the DB.
    What I did was create a very simple form with a single button that creates the WinForm class which contains the Crystal Viewer.  It then loads the report, sets the ReportSource property on the CrystalReportsViewer object contained in the WInForm and shows the report. The report does show correctly, until the 10 reports limit is reached.
    The relevant code is shown below. More than I wanted to post, but i want to be as complete and unambiguous as possible.
    This code displays the same behavior as my earlier post (after 10 reports we are unable to create another connection to the DB).
    // Initial Form that simply has a button
      public partial class SlectReport : form
            public SelectReport()
                InitializeComponent();
            private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                ReportDocument rd = new ReportDocument();
                ReportForm report = new ReportForm();
                try
                    rd.Load(@"Test.rpt");
                    report.ReportSource = rd;
                    report.Show();
             catch (Exception ex)
                  MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
    // The WinForm containing the Crystal Reports Viewer
        public partial class ReportForm : Form
            public ReportForm()
                InitializeComponent();
            private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
                this.crystalReportViewer1.RefreshReport();
                this.FormClosed += new FormClosedEventHandler(ReportForm_FormClosed);
            void ReportForm_FormClosed(object sender, FormClosedEventArgs e)
                ReportDocument rd;
                rd = (ReportDocument)crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
                rd.Close();
                rd.Dispose();
            public object ReportSource
                set { crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = value; }
    Again, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • About populating a non-database item in a multi-records block

    Hi, all
    I have a problem about populating a non-database item in a
    multi-records block. This block is set to database block with a
    controlled item which needs to be populated after query. so I
    create a post-query trigger, but my problem is when the records
    listed in this block are less than 10 ( the record number is set
    to 10), the trigger fires no problem. but when the retrieved
    records are greater than 10, the error message is 'post query
    trigger raised unhandled exception ora 01403'. anyone can help me
    fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Diana

    Diana,
    When you have an unbound item in a block and want to fetch
    some data into it you need to write a post-query trigger.What
    you have done is right.But it seems that u are getting a No data
    found error.I am sure about how u r populating data into that
    field.If u have written a select statement to fetch the data in
    post-query trigger, kindly handle an exception and find out the
    problem.Having a look at ur code(pos-query) would be much more
    helpful for giving a better solution.Try this a let me know.
    Thanks
    Vinod.

  • Uable to connect to citadel database on network in MAX

    I have a question regarding the "Citadel 5" in MAX 3.0.0.3/LV 7.0 (Win2k environment). Using MAX I can open/browse a database stored on the local PC and browse the tag names, but when I try to connect to a PC on the network with the same configuration, I am unable to browse the tag names of the remote database. I can well see the database name itself on the remote PC. In the database symbol of the MAX browser there is a yellow exclamation mark with red border displayed. I can't find any information what this means.
    The remote PC is configured to allow full access for the local PC. Using the logos:// protocol I am able to read and write to the remote database.

    Yes, I can browse the tags locally on the remote PC.
    Citadel version is 5.

  • External table max record length check

    This question is regarding fixed length input file.
    I am checking to see if it is possible to add a check to verify the max length of a record when defining an external table.
    For example, if I am expecting a fixed length file with max record/row length of 100, is it possible to reject lines in the

    Dear all,
    a very simple question. What is the maximum of records during runtime in an internal table.

    Any Suggestions will be reciprocated with points
    Nick

    hi Nick,
    it's records read from database and transferred to front end/query,
    normally this can be used to 'judge' if aggregate creation will help to improve query performance or not, aggregate may help if the ratio is > 10 (AND % of db time > 30%). check details in 'query performance tuning with aggregate'

    From the fine Reference Manual:
    DB_FILES specifies the maximum number of database files that can be opened for this database. (emphasis mine)
    What does DBA_DATA_FILES say about the STATUS and ONLINE_STATUS of the files in question?
    What does V$DATAFILE have to say?
    Will you be able to create database objects in these database files?   What does it cost to try it and see for yourself?  With the proviso that you cannot directly specify what file an object goes in.  You can only specify a tablespace.  If that tablespace has only one data file the test is simple.  If the tablespace contains more than one data file, it gets more complex because oracle will use data files within a TS as it sees fit.

  • Does anyone know the max record time in voice memo?

    Hi I am trying to find out what the max record time is for 1 voice memo on an i-phone 4 with 32 gb of ram.
    I can not find it documented any where.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Thanks Ingo2711,
    The pages you suggested point to the local carriers as the only authorized service centers.
    The problem with Etisalat is that they outsourced that service to another company called Technocare.
    That company sent the phone back twice (for the reasons mentioned above) and suggested that I have it fixed at a third party, which I am refusing to do since that will void my warranty. Additionally, they are refusing to give me any thing in writing to that affect.

  • ODSI vs Database adapters

    I have a conceptual doubt about these tools.
    I think data services are very important in a enterprise architecture but I dont think that using database adapters inside a composite applications could be a clear and scalable solution. Maybe using dataservices integrator could be a better way integrating after inside composite applications in SOA Suite.
    What do you think about it? What your experience in real world in data services development?

    Yes. Any sense of real-time data aggregation between multiple data sources (e.g. Oracle databases) would have to occur in the SOA composite's component logic -- for example a BPEL process calling one adapter, then the next, then mashing the data together and returning the results as an aggregate. Sometimes this would make sense and would be part-and-parcel of a service orchestration pattern.
    But the fact is, that the Oracle Database Adapter alone is not a real-time, multi-source data aggregation component as ODSI and some non-Oracle products are designed to be.
    This capability we believe is very important in a large enterprise and have given this feedback to Oracle. Oracle may still be trying to rationalize where ODSI fits in its stack -- kind of like SOA, kind of like BI. It may have fell in the product management crack. Shame.
    I would like to see Oracle leap over competitors by bundling ODSI-like capability as a deployable SCA component. From a Service Infrastructure point of view it makes a lot of sense to me. You already have powerful mechanisms to expose services and wire components, you have an engine lifecycle support system, you have easy ability to pull in Coherence data grid for powerful result caching, etc.
