Database Configuraion Assistant doesn't run

Please answer me to [email protected]
I installed Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition Database on OpenUNIX 8 (SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 + Caldera OpenLinux 3.1.1 RPM). Net Assistant was completed automatically after the installation while the other tool (Database Configuration Assistant) didn't run correctly, so I had to complete the instalation without creating any database. Runing that tool after shows the same error messages as below :
SIGSEGV 11* segmentation violation
stackbase=0x450b8000, stackpointer=0x450b75b0
and then te following as below

If anyone has any idea what's going on please me to the email adress shown at the top.

A.T., I seem to remember it took me hours to download PRE7 4 or 5 years ago.
I'm adding the latest step in this saga in case it helps someone else, as I had not found the following in any of the threads I searched through.
My chat got closed while I was downloading and I got sent an email with details of the case number and a link to the Customer Support Portal online so I can update the case to let them know once everything is downloaded and working (fingers crossed).
When I clicked on the link in the email, I went to a screen with the case link to use to update later.
BUT in the menu bar at the top of the page there is a link to Order History, which then took me to details of my orders, which I had not been able to get to by just using My Orders.  Beside my current order is a button to press to view the order details, so I did and got taken to a copy of the order details, which included a link to Downloads Available.  When I clicked on that, what do you know - I am in the Adobe store with all my Akamai download links for both lots of software and the installer for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems.
How do you find the Customer Support Portal?? I searched Customer Support Portal on the Adobe home page and found this link to use
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/customer-support-portal.html
It looks like you select your location then log in and you should get to your Customer Support Portal, with links to open and closed cases, as well as your order history and returns history.
Hope that helps someone in the same boat in the future.

  • Re: Adobe Download Assistant Doesn't Run (Mac)

I have the exact same issue with the exact same laptop and those troubleshooting documents did not help.
I double clicked ADM to install. Ran the installer. It installed and nothing happened.
Some time later I found that an error popped up and said I need Adobe AIR to run ADM. So I downloaded AIR.
I double clicked the AIR dmg and then ran "Install Adobe Air". Again nothing happened. No error windows or anything. I rebooted, made sure I wasn't missing an error window anywhere, updated my Mac (just in case) and still nothing when I double click "Install Adobe AIR". It's not listed in my Applications folder either.

I did follow your two documents, because I said I followed "The Adobe AIR installer doesn't display a window when launched."
    I'm attaching my installation log.

  • Adobe Download Assistant Doesn't Run (Mac)

I cannot start the Adobe Download Assistant for some unknown reasons. I want to download a trial of Adobe After Effects, so this is necessary. First, I installed the Assistant, and when it tried to open, it said it couldn't find Adobe Air, so I installed Adobe Air. Air itself will not run either, and the download assitant would not run and it is not detected by my system. When I tried to reinstall it, about every third time I attempted to open the installer I would get the same "cannot find Adobe Air" message, even though Adobe Air is installed. The only suggestion in the Troubleshooting section that I hadn't tried was installing updates, so I ran the Software Update program and installed all available updates. Since doing that, I do not get the "cannot find Adobe Air" message anymore, but neither program will run. What should I do when I can't figure out what's even wrong?

Hmm then it would not be the graphic switching issue then.  I would recommend you begin by troubleshooting your installation of Adobe AIR.  Once that is completed then return to the Adobe Download Assistant to try downloading the trial again.  The following documents should aid you with your troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot AIR installation | Mac OS
    Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant
Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions about the steps listed within either document.

  • Database Configuration Assistant on Windows 2K - doesn't run?

Not a lot to add to the subject line, I'm afraid.
I have bot a win2k server and a win XP machine and I get the same problem.
    I click the start->oracle 9i->oracle->oracle -> orahome92 -> Configuration and Migration Tools -> Database Configuration Assistant
The cursor turns to an hourglass for a moment and... nothin. No error message, no nothin (not my idea of robust software).
I can't believe that no one has run into this before, since I have it happening on two different Windows OS's.
By way of completeness, I should mention that I have Oracle 9i and Oracle Developer Suite on both machines.
    Thanks all

Hrmm... Well, its not run out of oemapp.bat It's run using launch.exe
I attempted to grab the stuff out of %ORACLE_HOME%\assistants\dbca\dbca.cl and contruct a batch file so that I could at least see where Java (I hate Java for this very reason) was barfing. It is apparently tripping over its CLASSPATH somewhere - hard to tell where.

  • Install failing when running Database Configuration Assistant

I am trying to install Oracle 9i on a new Solaris 9 box. Everything goes fine until oui tries to run the Database Configuration Assistant. It is at the "Creating and starting Oracle Instance" stage that I get a popup which says:
    ORA-27302: failure occured at: skgpwreset1
ORA-27303: additional information: invalid shared ctx
    ORA-27146: post/wait initialization failed with
    status:28
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device
    ORA-27302: failure occured at: sskgpcreates
I don't understand the "No space left on device" as I have ~30 GB available. I am hoping it is a result of the invalid shared ctx above it. Other than this, the installation completes without any errors.
I have been banging my head against this for over a week! Does anyone have any suggestions. I am sorry I waited so long to post the question, but I could use some assistance urgently.
    TIA,
    Steve

    Solution:
For Solaris 9 the (recommended) /etc/system parameters look like this:
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni= 100
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns= 1024
    set semsys:seminfo_semmsl= 256
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
The other parameters are not needed in this Solaris version.
    I hope this is useful.

  • 10g installation stays at 45% during Database Configuration Assistant

    Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g in my windows XP machine.Installation goes on smoothly and the configuration assistant window appears. The Database Configuration Assistant page showing the progess bar for database creation also appears. The progress shows Clone database creation in progress at 45%. It has been running for more than 6 hours.
What should i do? Can i stop and run Database Configuration Assistant independently? Is installation of all oracle database component complete?
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Jay

    Hi,
I have checked and the Oracle listener is started. The problem is still there.
Where do i locate the files created during DBCA process? If there are any files left will they be replaced when i run DBCA independently?
    Please advice.
    Thanks.

  • 8.1.5 Install Problem: Database Configuration Assistant

I have problems installing Oracle 8.1.5 on Linux.
On the "Configuration tools" screen, I get the following
error for the 'Oracle Database Configuration Assistant':
"A required command line argument is missing"
The installation claims the error is not critical.
When I try to access the database with SQL*Plus and the default
SYS/CHANGE_ME_ON_INSTALL login, I get the following error:
ORA01033: Oracle intialization or shutdown in progress.
I cannot start or stop the database.
When I use "connect internal" in srvmgr, and try to do "startup",
    I get "insufficient privileges".
    When I use "connect SYSTEM/CHANGE_ME_ON_INSTALL", I get ORA01033
    again.
    My system configuration:
    RedHat 6.0
    2x Pentium II 266
    192 MB RAM
    Java JRE 1.6.5
    Kernel 2.2.10
    Hints etc. appreciated.

I have exactly the same setup (ie 2.2.10 etc) with
exactly the same error message on install. In fact
as far as I can tell no database was created because
of this error. I run the "dbassist" sepeartely after the
    install and I get :
    " JNLS Excetion:oracle.....
Unable to find any National Character Sets.
    Please Check your Oracle Installation"
This is a stock redhat 6.0 install with the addition
of the redhat errata updates(ie enlightenment-0.15.5-36
    , X, kde etc) and kernel 2.2.10.

  • Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is now available!

Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is a next-generation GUI migration tool to help you migrate your databases to the Unicode character set. It is free for customers with database support contracts. The DMU is built on the same GUI platform as SQL Developer and JDeveloper. It uses dedicated RDBMS functionality to scan and convert a database to AL32UTF8 (or to the deprecated UTF8, if needed for some reasons). For existing AL32UTF8 and UTF8 databases, it provides a validation mode to check if data is really encoded in UTF-8. Learn more about the tool on its OTN pages.
There is a new Database Migration Assistant for Unicode. We encourage you to post all questions related to the tool and to the database character set migration process in general to that forum.
    Thanks,
    The DMU Development Team

    HI there!
7.6.03 ? Why do you use outdated software for your migration.
    At least use 7.6.06 or 7.7.07 !
About the performance topic - well, you've to figure out what the database is waiting for.
Activate time measurement, activate the DBanalyzer with a short snapshot interval (say 120 or 60 seconds) and check what warnings you get.
Also you should use the parameter check to make sure that you don't run into any setup-induced bottlenecks.
Apart from these very basic prerequisites for the analysis of this issue, you may want to check
SAP Note 1464560 FAQ: R3load on MaxDB
Maybe you can use some of the performance features available in the current R3load versions.
    regards,
    Lars

open a support message if you're not able to do the performance analysis yourself.
