Database configuration in Tomcat

Can anyone tell me how to configure the database connection(SQL Server) in Tomcat? I got a "Can't create connection pool" error and not familiar with the setup issue. I would appreciate it if anyone can help me on this. J

The standard Tomcat documentation is here:
That should guide you through most of it.
Tomcat 5: http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
Tomcat 5.5 http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.5-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html(remove any spaces that the forum might helpfully add in the above)
What have you done so far?
Can we see the full error message and part of the stack trace?
Any messages in the log file?
What driver are you using?
What connection string?
Do you have a SQL Server JDBC driver?
Is the driver in your [TOMCAT]/common/lib directory?
Cheers,

  • JReport Database configuration

I just downloaded an evalution version for the JReport in order to know and experience the features its provided. however, im encountering the db connection problem so just stuck here. would like to seek help from you all.
As for your info, i've installed JDBC Ms.SQL Server 2000, I am having the problem in setting up JDBC driver and do not know how to edit the %installroot%JReport\bin\JReport.bat to append the achieve file of the driver to the classpath.
    Anyone can advice?
    Thanks,
    Veasna

I went with the Tomcat install for the server.  Our reports all work fine in the client.  The databases that we are using are Oracle and Foxpro...I have an ODBC for the Foxpro and Oracle client and ODBC for those databases as well.  When I put in my paramters I get Error in File Donor Activity: The table could not be found.  The ODBC on the server matches my computer.  The report DOES prompt me for the paramters and I can input them, but the I hit OK and it gives me the error.  I am using original database login with no data in the username or password field (database configuration).  Any ideas...I am totally stumped have been working on this for days...

Just don't install the sample schemas. See the installation guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10831/installation.htm
    Using the Database Configuration Assistant
When you install Oracle Database with the Oracle Universal Installer, the sample schemas are installed by default if you select the Basic Installation option. Selecting the sample schemas option installs all five schemas (HR, OE, PM, IX, and SH) in the database. If you choose not to install the sample schemas at that time, you can add them later by following the instructions in section "Manually Installing Sample Schemas".
Choose a custom install and don't install the sample schemas.
All other schems/tables installed are REQUIRED by Oracle

  • 10g installation stays at 45% during Database Configuration Assistant

    Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle 10g in my windows XP machine.Installation goes on smoothly and the configuration assistant window appears. The Database Configuration Assistant page showing the progess bar for database creation also appears. The progress shows Clone database creation in progress at 45%. It has been running for more than 6 hours.
What should i do? Can i stop and run Database Configuration Assistant independently? Is installation of all oracle database component complete?
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Jay

    Hi,
I have checked and the Oracle listener is started. The problem is still there.
Where do i locate the files created during DBCA process? If there are any files left will they be replaced when i run DBCA independently?
    Please advice.
    Thanks.

  • 8.1.5 Install Problem: Database Configuration Assistant

I have problems installing Oracle 8.1.5 on Linux.
On the "Configuration tools" screen, I get the following
error for the 'Oracle Database Configuration Assistant':
"A required command line argument is missing"
The installation claims the error is not critical.
When I try to access the database with SQL*Plus and the default
SYS/CHANGE_ME_ON_INSTALL login, I get the following error:
ORA01033: Oracle intialization or shutdown in progress.
I cannot start or stop the database.
When I use "connect internal" in srvmgr, and try to do "startup",
    I get "insufficient privileges".
    When I use "connect SYSTEM/CHANGE_ME_ON_INSTALL", I get ORA01033
    again.
    My system configuration:
    RedHat 6.0
    2x Pentium II 266
    192 MB RAM
    Java JRE 1.6.5
    Kernel 2.2.10
    Hints etc. appreciated.

I have exactly the same setup (ie 2.2.10 etc) with
exactly the same error message on install. In fact
as far as I can tell no database was created because
of this error. I run the "dbassist" sepeartely after the
    install and I get :
    " JNLS Excetion:oracle.....
Unable to find any National Character Sets.
    Please Check your Oracle Installation"
This is a stock redhat 6.0 install with the addition
of the redhat errata updates(ie enlightenment-0.15.5-36
    , X, kde etc) and kernel 2.2.10.
Yes logged in as the "oracle" user which also has group
    dba priv.

  • Problem using template in database configuration assistant Oracle 10g

    Hi,
I created a database using the database configuration assistant for Oracle 10g on a Windows Server 2003 box. The database I created worked perfectly, and I had saved it as a template so I could save some time when creating similar databases (which I have to do on occasion)
When I try to use the template though, I get an error (at about 4% through the database creation) saying:
    ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-09314: sltln: error translating logical name
I'm creating this new database on the same server as the one I created my previous database on and NOTHING has changed on it, I did this just minutes apart and can duplicate it at will (just try and use a template)
Heres the template file contents (KM1.dbt)

  • Crystal Report Server: Cannot save Database Configuration in CMC

I already posted this question as SAP internal CSN message (message number 1896093 2009) but did not get any answer so far.
I have installed a test version (which I'd like to become permanent some
day...) of Crystal Reports Server 2008 on a local machine to be able to
share Crystal reports within our department.
I created a couple of reports which I would like to get updated
regularly. The issue is here that I get a logon screen to the underlying
SQL Server as soon as a user clicks on "Refresh" when viewing a report
from InfoView. The SQL Server is running on integrated security
via SSO, which I cannot change...
To get around this issue I would like to change the default Database
Configuration of the reports. Hence I do the following:
    1) I open the Central Mangement Console
    2) I select one of my reports
    3) Rightclick on Properties
    4) On the Default tab I select Database Configuration
    5) the config is set to "Logon Screen" and I ant to change this to SSO,
    so I set this
    6) Now I click on Save
=> The setting is reverted to the old "Logon Screen" settin1g
This behavior is the same for all the reports I'm using.
Looking forward to any help, kind regards
    Wolfgang
P.S.: Ultimately this issue arises, because I cannot refresh my crystal report data in batch job mode, because the reports are reading data from an SQL server, which allows SSO-logon (integrated security) only. Thus I have to open each and every report for update manually and click on the refresh button.

    Hi Manish,
thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I'm still stuck in this matter.
Does this happen with the sample reports too? I think it will be a good approach to try this to see if your system is behaving differently for sample reports and reports published from outside
I did not really try this, but viewing and editing my reports in Crystal Reports 2008 Designer works perfectly fine. As well can the user view my reports in the InfoViewApp.
Also, does it revert to the login screen setting immediately after you click Save or does it show the setting as changed after clicking Save but, does not retain it when you come back and check the report settings again?
The data is reverted immediately after clicking "Save"
    Kind reagrds

  • Siebel database Configuration wizard unable to identify index tablespace

    Hi,
I'm installing Siebel CRM 8.1.1 on AIX platform. We have RAC enabled database at backend and in that two tablespace has been created, one for data and another one for index. Now in the database configuration wizrd where we have to provide the name of both tablespaces; we provide the name of data tablespae in the Table Tablespace filed and index tablespace in the index tablespace filed of the configuration wizard. Now when we click on the next button. The configuration wizrd gives error of unable to identify index tablespace.
Why is this happening as index tablespace is properly created in the database. Please help me in this. You quick respance will be highly appriciated.
    Regards,

I thought it might be. grantuser.sql generally needs to be modified to suit the underlying database configuration. Glad you got it working.

  • Security problem in oracle 9i Database Configuration Assistant

Inside the tool Oracle 9i Database Configuration Assistant there is an option by which you can make a "copy" of your Database. This "copy" is called a template and you don4t need any password or aunthentication to do it, you just need the tool to be installed in your server. Once you have a template, you can bring it anywhere and recreate the original database (including data). Again, you don't need any password or aunthentication to do it, further more, in the last step of this process you can change the password of any user (inluding SYS, SYSTEM or another DBA user). The thing about this is that anyone with access to the computer where the database is can make a template of it, take this template to another computer and recreate my database having FULL access to it (structure, data, code ...). And everything without needing any password!!!. I really thing that it is a big problem. Is there any way of preventing this operation?. How can I safely protect my database?. I thought about unistalling the product, but someone can re-install it and everything would be the same. Can someone give me an answer?
    Thanks for everything.

You must protect your database from casual browsing at the OS level. This is not a security hole, per se, since this is a known issue with any and all software. Database Configuration Assistant is not needed for this since one may copy the database without it.

  • Database Configuration Assistant fails during instalation of Oracle EE 8.1.7

My machine runs RH 6.2 and I have tried to install it Oracle. After executing all pre-instalation steps, I run ./runInstall and instalation process goes on. I select Typical Instalation and instalation proceeds until 100%, when OUI tries to configure Net 8 Assistant and Database Configuration Assistant. Both applications fail in this phase. Unfortunately, OUI shows a message (Database Configuration Assistant) informing that /u01/.../JRE/bin/jre does not exist. However, I have installed JDK 118 and JRE link seems correct, so that I can access JDK directory throught JRE link.

  • Oracle 11g Database Configuration Assistant Hangs At 45% During 1st Install

Platform: Windows Vista 64 Bit Version
Downloaded: Oracle 11g Database 64 Bit
    Service Pack 1
Greetings to all my Oracle Seniors. I have been attempting in vain to install the Oracle 11g database software package fully. I was able to complete the initial installation and made it to the second recommended action which was the Database Configuration Assistant operation. After 3 attempts, the progress bar stalled at 45%. I tried to look at the log file cfgtoologs (cloneDBCreation, and CloneRmanRestore), but it said that I didn't have permission. My pre-check cleared OK on everything. So, please direct me as to how to correct this issue.
    Thanks

    System Integrator

Well, that is not much of an option right now. I discovered that I have to reinstall the XP Pro OS after attempting the 11g installation 4 times and the install always stalled at 69% during the initial installation. I did have Windows Service Pack 3 installed on the system. I down graded and added 1 G of additional memory and checked the pre-check with no problem. But, the install continued to stall at 69%. So, and, yet, here we are.
Now in regards to the metalink notes, I am new to the forum, so I don't know my way around quite yet. Isn't the metalink the paid suppport option? If so, I don't have that access.
