Database 'copy' for programmers
Hi.
Anybody know of a tool (preferably free) to allow non-DBA persons (i.e. programmers and testers) copy a database?
It should be a simple UI tool as these guys are not SQL savvy.
Depending on some specifics about your architecture, table structures, and data, the permissions of the various users, and some of the use cases you're looking to meet, you could use export & import ("classic" or Data Pump), database links, or potentially even external tables to move data around
For more information on Oracle utilities like export, import, and SQL*Loader
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/toc.htm
Unfortunately, without more information, it's exceptionally hard for anyone to know which of these tools, if any, would be appropriate.

Cannot Adding Mailbox Server for Database Copy for Exchange 2013 SP1
Before I upgraded to 2013 SP1 everything works find but after I upgrade to SP1 I cannot add database copy. the details are...
I have 2 sites
Site 1 : 4 Mailboxes (Mailbox01,Mailbox02,Mailbox03,Mailbox04) + 2 CAS
Site 2 : 2 Mailboxes (Mailbox05,Mailbox06) + 2 CAS (just for standby site)
So I have 2 DAG group (6 Mailboxes separate to 3 Mailboxes for 1 DAG group Mailbox01,Mailbox02,Mailbox05 for DAG1 and Mailbox03,Mailbox04,Mailbox06 for DAG2)
After I upgrade Exchange 2013 to SP1 , I try to create new database on Mailbox01 and after that I try to add mailbox02 and mailbox05 to database copy of new database that I created.
"Mailbox05 can added to be database copy but Mailbox02 cannot add database copy for it , Error "Network path not found" occur" but Im very sure that path is the same for each mailbox database server.
so I try to create new database on Mailbox 03 and add database copy on mailbox04 and mailbox06.... the result is the same only Mailbox06 can add mailbox copy of database.
It look like I cannot have 2 mailbox in site 1 for database copy of each new database (I already try to create new database on Mailbox 02 and add database copy on mailbox01 and mailbox05 , the result is only mailbox05 can be database copy of database).
Please help me to fix this out.Hi,
I recommend you check if the Remote Registry service is running on Mailbox01, Mailbox02, Mailbox03 and Mailbox04. If not, please start it and then add mailbox database copy to check the result.
Best regards,
Belinda

How to Create a database copy and specify the source database.
Hello,
In my dag environment I would like to create a new database copy and specify the source. My company has database copies in 2 locations. Instead of transferring the data from one location to the other, I would like to specify the source be the copy that is
in the same location.
Thank you,
~MarkHi,
We can create a mailbox database, then run EMC and EMS to create a database copy.
More details about Add a Mailbox Database Copy, for your reference:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298080(v=exchg.141).aspx
Note: please pay attention to Prerequisites section, for example:
1. The specified Mailbox server must not already host a copy of the specified mailbox database.
2. The server hosting the specified database and the server that will host the database copy must both be in the same database availability group (DAG). The DAG must also have quorum and be healthy.
Thanks

Database Copy can't copy primary key for tables
When I use Tools->Database Copy Wizard to copy my existing schema (for example: azteca_KSMMS) to a brand new schema (azteca), I find the primary key for some of the tables can't be copied, also the views seem not valid under the new schema (azteca). Please give me your comments about that. Thanks for your help.
KevinFor example I have a table called workorder, it has a primary key with name (CW_PKEY_519, on WORKORDERID column) from the source schema (azteca_KSMMS). After I database copy to new schema azteca, the primary key lost. The data of workorder and other indexes have been copied to azteca schema.

Error occurred while processing SAP SQL Tools for SQLServer (Database Copy)
Hello,
We are currently running ERP 6 EP4 support stacks 6. Two weeks ago we
refreshed our sandbox from QAS system and installed support stack 9 for
testing. Kernel was also upgraded from sp69 to sp137 as a part of the
support pack installation.
This week, I was asked to do another refresh of sandbox from the QAS system. As the
kernel was upgraded before to sp139, I copied back the previous kernel
file sp69 to the kernel folder and started refresh process as usual.
When I was running SAP for SQL, it ran successfully thorugh all the
steps but failed in the final steps with the following error logs:

Database Copy Doesn't find tables for moving data
I'm running SQL Dev 3.1.7 on a Win7-64 PC against Oracle 11g. Using the Database Copy function to move and update tables from one instance to another. The application seems to work fine, creating all of the tables, but in the script when it tries to move the data, for some tables it fails as follows:
Moving Data for object MY_TABLE_NAME
Unable to perform batch insert.
MY_TABLE_NAME ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Earlier in the script it dropped and then recreated the table in the target instance. The table does exist in the source instance. This occurred for 24 tables out of 105.
Any ideas what is going on?

Problems with DB copy for old release 7.4
Dear all,
I wanted to perform DB copy from production to test system. Both are 7.4.0.35 version. SAP release is 45B. I know that this is no more supported, but please advice if possible.
1. I shut down the application server and DB of QAS
2. I deleted data volumes in sapdata
3. I copied data volumes from snapshot of PRD system
4. I set database to admin mode and cleared logfile
5. I started the database and it went online
I tried to load system tables with command
dbmcli -d <database_name> -u <dbm_user>,<password> load_systab -u <sysdba_user>,<password>
But I got:

That procedure is exactly where your problem comes from.
Just copying data volumes is not supported for MaxDBs.
A much better approach is to simply perform a data backup on the source system (you can do that online, no downtime required!) and then run a recovery with initialization on the target system
If you want to you can also reconfigure the volumes of the target instance by choosing "Instance -> Initialize" and "Initialize for Recovery" before actually recovering the database.
That procedure will prevent he problem you're facing right now.
It's even documented in note
#129352 Homogeneous system copy with MaxDB (SAP DB)

Basically the problem here is that for the target instances still the old user profile containers are present.
Initialize the instance and recover it to get rid of that.

This lists the content of the UPC files (search for UPC in the SDN MaxDB Wiki to learn more about that).
These are DBM Users - not the SQL Users R3trans and the workprocesses or sqlcli would need.
So, one step after the other.
Do the system copy as described above (or read the note) and you'll be fine afterwards.

System copy for ECC 6.0 system no j2ee process under MMC
Dear support,
This has been observed in many of our clients system which are on ECC 6.0 abap+java system, that after we perform system copy from one system to another
whether it is Oracle platform or mssql server platform ( system copy for oracle using controlfile script ) ( system copy for mssql with restoring .BAK file from source )
systems are running fine but j2ee process table showing no processes like
SDM, dispatcher , server0
even configtool and go.bat are unable to connect.
Is there any specific settings we do after system copy for java side
Please let me know at earliest, as it is most strange thing i have seen in almost all my system where system copy is performed.I have already raised a post against this error but at that time i was not aware of this system copy reason behind the same.
Best regards,
AjitRYour main problem is not, that you don't see anything in MMC (the system can be added manually without much hazzle) - but is, that you database content of schema SAP<SID>DB does not match the data found on the filesystem.
If you copy the filesystem structure from production to test/qa, you need to make sure, the database and filesystem are in sync. You will have two problems if you "just copy them":
- They are out of sync because your production was going on running since you copied the backup files
- all configuration (all java property sheets) is/are set to point to the production system instead of the test/qa system
I doubt, that it will work if you copy it over. This also explains, why you can't even start configtool, because it points to the wrong system/schema. You MAY be able to fix all that manually, but you may encounter subsequent errors because not all configuration is documented, you would need to step into the whole j2ee tree and look at each and every propertysheet to find out, whether it's correct or not. Additionally, the database may have other information (see above) and all that may become overwritten during bootstrap.
So - the best way to get your system up and running quickly is to start sapinst on the source system, export your Java instance (not using ABAP but the Java dump) and re-importing that to your test/qa system.

Javascript error in BEx after system database copy
Hello,
we made a database copy of our BW 3.1 system on another hardware. After having done everything described in the How-To-Guide "Enable SAP BW Web functionality", we called the BEx via URL. The login screen displays and also the Report menu, but there occur JavaScript errors on the page, that didn't occur in the copy master. E.g.
"SAPBWSSgdo is null or not an object" or
"SAPBWItemCatalog undefined".
These errors prevent the choice menu for BW report value options to be displayed, which is quite annoying. Does anybody know where the error might come from? Are there any components required by BEx which weren't copied with the database copy?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Volker HofmannHi Beat,
thanks you're helping me! The MIME-Repository objects like JS-Files, stylesheets and images can be read. The strange thing is:
The J2EE engine is hosted by a provider. When they're calling the BEx web reports, they're displayed correctly. But when we call them (via proxy!), the error occurs. Even the application management doesn't know where the error comes from, after having checked if the proxy caches old data. The error is still not resolved...
Do you have another idea?
Regards,
Volker -

Mailbox Database Copy Status Failed
We have 2 Exchange 2010 servers. We run a DAG. Recently I have noticed that database copy DB2 which is located on Exch-1 is showing "Failed". Database copy DB1 which is located on Exch-2 is showing Healthy. I searched online
for information regarding the issue with the failed database copy. I found information that led me to run these commands.
Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name”
Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name” -DeleteExistingFiles
It went thru the seeding process and completed but the database copy still shows "Failed". Copy Q Length is 19. I have refreshed the console. What else do I need to do to correct this? I did recently shut down Exch-2 server
for maintenance. thanksHi,
It's glade to hear the good news. Thanks for your updating.
Best regards,
Belinda

SQL Developer Database Copy truncates DATE columns
Hope someone can help me. I want to copy all object from one schema to another schema in my Database. I have used the "tools - Database Copy" utility and it copies all of the objects and data however when I query the DATE columns in the destination schema the time element has been truncated? Why has this happened?
tab_h contains a column h_date of type DATE
Query
SELECT TO_CHAR(H_DATE, 'MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') from tab_h;
returns
02-07-2012 09:54:14
from the source table
yet returns
02-07-2012 00:00:00
from destination schema? This is the case for all DATE columns in the tables.
I noticed this was happening in 3.0.04.34 and I upgraded to 3.1.07.42 and it still happens.
Thank youMaybe there's a problem getting the OS settings right; try to add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
AddVMOption -Duser.region=USIf that works, you can try others closer to you.
Hope that helps,

Database limit warning when creating database copy
Exchange 2010 Standard SP3 RU3.
2 Server mailbox DAG.
I have 5 mailbox databases mounted. I have a copy of each database. WHen I try to create a copy for the 5th mailbox database I get the following warning "Server has reached the maximum database limit of 5.
Looking at my server, There was an old database that was never used in the exchange directory but its not listed in the EMC.
Is it possible that information about an old database still exists in AD? Where can I verify in Adsiedit what exchange databases it sees?Hi,
One server limited to 5 databases in Exchange 2010 Standard edition.
So, from the description of your screenshot I summary the following information:
The following databases stayed on NASD-MBX1:
Mailbox Database Admin
Mailbox Database Faculty
Mailbox Database Faculty Large
Mailbox Database Faculty Medium
Mailbox Database Faculty Small (Mounted)
The following databases stayed on NASD-MBX2:
Mailbox Database Admin (Mounted)
Mailbox Database Faculty (Mounted)
Mailbox Database Faculty Large (Mounted)
Mailbox Database Faculty Medium (Mounted)
Public Folder Database (It should be here, right?) (Mounted)
Now, if we try to make a copy of “Mailbox Database Faculty Small”,
it will be available as a passive database copy on NASD-MBX2. However, there are five Database mounted on NASD-MBX2 including the Public Folder Database. So it will
get the error “Server has reached the maximum database limit of 5”. We can delete the Public Folder Database to test it.
In ADSIEdit, please refer the following image to find these databases.

Cannot add mailbox database copy to DR site - .edb file not getting created
I have a DR site setup that I want copies of 4 of my mailbox databases. 3 of the mailbox databases copied over successfully but the last and largest one which is really not that large 69Gbs keeps failing when i Update the database copy. Seems
to not be creating the .edb file. Is there another way to get the .edb file over to the server, possibly manually copying it then doing and update database copy? I have my backups turned off on all the servers that have the mailbox role on it now
thinking that was causing some issues with the database copy? Any suggestions is appreciated, thanks.
Michael DuhonYes manually copy the edb file and paste them in the DR server . Then try to update with for the incremental of database copy. Verify the database is clean shutdown that you are moving to the DR site.
What error message it throws when you performing update the database copy
