Database headers
I must be missing something. I want a text field's content (a name) to appear on every record in a database file with 38 records on a particular layout. Normally, once you define the field and enter the name, the content only appears on that record. I suppose I could use a regular document header, but the fields I want are already defined and it would be redundant to re-enter them as text. I read there are database headers, different from the regular document headers, that will do this. I went to the layout menu, clicked 'insert part' and selected 'header'. It appeared on the document just fine. However, every time I dragged a text field into the header area from the body area, I never saw the field data in the browse mode, only the field label (page view or not). Moreover, once I dragged it into the header area, I could no longer enter data into the field in browse mode. What am I doing wrong? Can I get a text field to display on every record or is this not possible?
PowerBook Mac OS X (10.2.x) Appleworks 6.2.9
I must be missing something. I want a text field's
content (a name) to appear on every record in a
database file with 38 records on a particular layout.
Normally, once you define the field and enter the
name, the content only appears on that record.
As it should. Fields (except Summary type fields) are containers for data in a record. When you enter the name into one record, it appears on that record. Records with ne data in that field will show an empty sapce. Just as when you fill in your name on a single credit card application form it appears on that individual form (and not on the other seven forms that arrived in the mail on the same day).
I
suppose I could use a regular document header, but
the fields I want are already defined and it would
be redundant to re-enter them as text. I read there
are database headers, different from the regular
document headers, that will do this.
Headers and Footers (in any type of document) are used to show the same material (text and/or graphics) at the top or bottom of each Page of the document. Besides fixed text and graphics, Headers and Footers can contain information (eg. page numbers, current date, current time) calculated from the document itself or calculated from the computer's clock. In Database documents, Headers will appear only once (at the top of the document) unless Page view (in the Window menu) is checkmarked. In Page view, Headers will appear at the top of each Page. If your DB shows only a single Record to a Page, then the contents of Headers will appear with each record.
I went to the
layout menu, clicked 'insert part' and selected
'header'. It appeared on the document just fine.
However, every time I dragged a text field into the
header area from the body area, I never saw the
field data in the browse mode, only the field label
(page view or not). Moreover, once I dragged it
into the header area, I could no longer enter data
into the field in browse mode. What am I doing
wrong? Can I get a text field to display on every
record or is this not possible?
Data fields (except Summary type fields) will display, and are accessible for data entry, only in the Body part of a database layout. Any Text field placed in the Body part of a layout will display its content on every (visible) record. But there must be data in that field in that record for the data to display with a particular record.
What to do:
If the name is part of the data of each record, then you must place it into each record. (See below for a couple of ways to go about this.)
If the name is simply a label and you do not need it as part of the data, then forget about the Text field, and place the name directly onto the Layout, using a Text Frame placed in the Body part if you want it to appear with every record, or into a Header part if you want it to appear at the top of each Page.
Putting the name into multiple records:
For a small number of records, go to List view (Layout > List), select the text in the already filled field and Copy (command-C).
Now alternate pressing command-return (moves you to the same field in the next record) and command-V (pastes the copied text into the current field).
To set a field to the same value in all of a large number of records it's easier to redefine the field twice.
Press shift-command-D (Define fields)
Click the 'Name' field in the list of fields.
Change the Type to Calculation
Click Modify (and OK the warning that this may cause you to lose data loss).
Enter the name, enclosed in quotation marks (eg. "Louis") into the Formula box.
Set Format result as: to Text.
Click OK, then click Done.
This will set the contents of the field to Louis in all records, and will not allow changing that value in an individual record. To change the value in ALL records, repeat the above (skipping the unnecessary steps), using the new value in the formula. If you want to be able to change individual records, change the field type back to Text as below.
Press shift-command-D (Define fields)
Click the 'Name' field in the list of fields.
Change the Type to Text
Click Modify (and OK the warning that this may cause you to lose data—Your data is compatible with this type of field).
Click OK, then click Done.

Running Mac OS X 10.7.4 with M/S Outlook 2011. I am a two day old ¨baby¨ on a MAC [heretofore a M/S OS PC user]. Did a M/S update yesterday including a ¨CRITICAL¨ M/S Word 14.2.2 version installation. Following the installation, I got a notice that "an older version of M/S Database daemon is running and I must first delete "daemon" from Startup Items & then restart my computer. See MAC OS help." OK, I confirmed daemon was not in the Startup Items and restarted my computer. Now, when I attempt to open M/S Outlook I get a notice that "There is a problem with the Office database. To use the database you must rebuild it using the Database Utility"...Two choices " Cancel" or "Rebuild" If I chose "Rebuild" I am notitified immeditely that "To use the database utility, you must first quit all Office applications" [There are no office applications open EXCEPT the Database Utility which I confirm using the Mac´s Force Quit Application]. In any event, I <click> "Quit All" and after about 3 minutes a box popsup telling me the same thing "to use the Database Utility I must first quit all Office applications". If I choose "Cancel" on the the original notice that stated "There is a problem with the Office database. To use the database, you must rebuild it using the Database Utility." the notice disappears from the screen for about 5 seconds and then reappears. The notice is currently on the screen as I type this plea for help with this issue. As an aside, I followed the instructions detailed by Christopher Breen, Macworld.com dated 18 April 2012 article "Undoing the damage wrought by Microsoft´s Outlook update" wherein he details a procedure to "REPLACE" M/S Outlook´s Database Headers with a working copy and thereby rebuild the Main Identity Database. Here again, after I <click> "REBUILD" in the Database Utility it comes up "UNSUCCESSFUL" in rebuilding the Main Identity database.

We are migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. We have installed the Exchange 2013 but it only has a couple of mailboxes on this server, all the mailboxes are still on the Exchange 2010 server.
I have run a Windows Backup of the Exchange 2013 but I am still seeing a ton a log files in the mailbox folder.
Also the database file is only about 1.1 GB but the backup is now 40 GB.
Is there something that can be done to truncate these logs and make the backup smaller?Hi ,
1.Does the full backup completed successfully ?
2.what about the status for the below mentioned command ? Does the mailbox database headers updated with the latest time and date ?
Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | ft name,*full* -au
3.Just check the application event logs for the event id
2046 and that should state that the log truncation for the mailbox databases has been initiated or not.
4.Before initiating the backup just make the exchange writer is not on error.
vssadmin list writers
In case if it on error state ,please restart the Microsoft exchange replication service and check the exchange writers status again by using the above mentioned command.

Please help with Database and JTable.
The class listed below is for a JTable. The main in this class is for testing only, when complete main will reside elsewhere. I need to know how to make this JTable universal. How can I set it up so that when called in a main and passed parameters it will display the information contained in that users database?? Again it must be universal so no matter who uses it, it will perform the same on all database's.
Here's the code:
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.table.*;
public class DisplayTable extends JFrame{
public DisplayTable() {
JFrame jf = new JFrame("Window Title");
jf.setSize(1100,700);
jf.setLocation(25,50);
jf.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter(){
public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e){
System.exit(0);}
TableModel tm = new AbstractTableModel(){
String[][] data = { {"How to get database data??"}};
String[] headers = {"How to get database headers??"};
public int getRowCount() {return data.length;}
public int getColumnCount() {return headers.length;}
public Object getValueAt(int r, int c) {return data[r][c];}
public String getColumnName(int c) {return headers[c];}
JTable jt = new JTable(tm);
JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane(jt);
jf.getContentPane().add(jsp, BorderLayout.CENTER);
jf.setVisible(true);
public static void main(String args[]){
DisplayTable dt = new DisplayTable(Database Parameters to be given here);You could generalize it, but it gets tricky to deal with the data types and if the JTable is editable because you would read the DB table data at run time. Using the ResultSetMetaData, you would be able to find the column type too. But, how can we cast an object at run-time?
Below, I have provided an overview as of doing a read-only (all-strings version) of it. You may have some ideas from there.
The database parameters that you pass to the constructor would tell the model where to connect and which DB table to read the data from. Couple of options:
1. You can read the data in the constructor of DisplayTable into final variables and have the inner class (model) set its data and headers from those variables.
Or
2. Pull out the model as a separate class extending AbstractTableMode. Doing this, you can pass on the DB information to the model and have the model talk to the DB.
And, I would use dynamic datastructures like Vector or List instead of arrays.
You would have the following logic wherever you chose to talk to the DB:
I am assuming that you are trying to read a complete DB table into your JTable (or may be you would pass a SELECT-query alongwith your DB information). Whatever may be the case, you would execute a select- to the DB and get a resultset back. Using that you would be able to get the ResultSetMetaData, which will give you the column count and column names. You may chose to use these column names as the header names for your JTable. With the column count you would query every row to get the object at each column.
Here is a sample model:
class MyModel extends AbstractTableModel {
ArrayList columnNames = new ArrayList();
ArrayList data = new ArrayList();
MyModel(<DB Info>) {
// Use the DB info and get the resultset
ResultSetMetaData rsm = rs.getMetaData();
int col = rsm.getColumnCount();
for(int i=1; i<=col; i++) {
columnNames.add(rsm.getColumnName(i));
// Read the data
while(rs.next()) {
ArrayList row = new ArrayList();
data.add(row);
for(int j=1; j<=col; j++) {
// Here is the tricky part which I did not figure yet. For now, I am reading in all as Strings.
row.add(rs.getObject(j).toString());
public String getColumnName(int c) {
return (String)columnNames.get(c);
public int getColumnCount() {
return columnNames.size();
public Object getValueAt(int r,int c) {
ArrayList row = (ArrayList)data.get(r);
return (String)row.get(c);
public int getRowCount() {
return data.size();
}If you figured a way to handle run-time casting, please let us know.

Error 18000 during outlook 2011 rebuild
After recently having the hard drive in my iMac replaced, I get an "Your database could not be rebuilt. [-Error 18000]" when I try to restore my applications from Time Machine. How do I get past this problem.
There are two different ways you can recover your data. The first way is basically following the instructions at http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/05/how-to-recover-your-data-when-rebuilding -restoring-and-upgrading-fails/, however, with the following modification.
Do NOT copy the folder “FOLDERS”, but copy “CATEGORIES” instead.
This will result in you being able to recover all of your data, but you would lose all you folder names and hierarchical structure. (Eg. I had 10 folders at the top of my hierarchy, with loads of subfolders inside subfolders inside subfolders etc… In total the number of folders I have is 558). When my data was recovered in this manner, I had 558 folders at the top level all named “Recovered Folder 1″, “Recovered Folder 2″, “Recovered Folder 3″, etc… Obviously, it would be a nightmare to try and rebuild that hierarchical structure again. In fact, in my case, it would almost be impossible. If you don’t share my problem of having to recover the folders named and organised and sorted, and you just need your messages back, then this first solution would be easier for you.
One thing to keep in mind though, before I start explaining the second recovery method, is that memory is the key to recovery. My database is 12.7GB and I had 120GB of free space on my hard drive, but that failed to recover. It even failed to rebuild a non-corrupted identity. And so I freed up some space and tried again with 200GB of free space on my hard drive, but that failed too. I freed up even more space and tried again with 310GB of free space on my hard drive, and that succeeded to build. (WIERD BUT VERY TRUE) I also did notice that during the rebuild, my computer was using about 6.8GB of RAM. So, I would recommend that you make sure you have at least 300GB of free space on your hard disk and at least 8GB of RAM installed. Otherwise, you would just be wasting your valuable time. By the way, these memory constraints apply to both of the recovery procedures; the one described above and the other one described below.
If you wish to rescue your folder structure, read the steps below very carefully and try to follow them precisely and hopefully you will be able to recover your data.
1. Make a duplicate copy of your data to work with and keep your original corrupted identity safe in case this method of recovery doesn’t work for you.
2. Use the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768 to completely remove all Microsoft Office from your system.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Install the original Office 2011 14.0.0 onto your computer, and make sure it is activated.
5. Open a blank document in Microsoft Word, and allow it to fully load up. Then quit Word.
6. Launch Microsoft Auto Update and upgrade Office to SP1 14.1.0. Make sure that you do not install any later updates than that.
7. Open a blank document in Microsoft Word, and allow it to fully load up. Then quit Word.
8. Manually download and intsall update 14.1.4 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28405.
9. Disconnect your computer from the Internet and do NOT reconnect it again until you have completed the recovery.
10. Open the Microsoft Database Utility, and delete all the existing identities. There should only be one. Your corrupted identity should not appear in there. DO NOT DELETE IT if it is there (you must have done something wrong….start over).
11. Now that there are no identities in the list, create a new blank identity. It will automatically be named “Identity 1″.
12. Quit the database utility.
13. In the duplicate of your corrupted identity (created in step 1), delete the database file. Then navigate to the “Data Records” folder and delete the “Database Headers” folder.
14. Now copy the “Database Headers” folder from “/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Indentity 1/Data Records” and paste it inside the “Data Records” folder of the duplicate of your corrupted identity. What you have done now, is copy a clean “Database Headers” folder that has database headers in version 14.1.4. What you intend to do here, is trick the database utility v14.1.4 to think that your SP2 identity conforms to its own version and will then attempt to rebuild it.
15. Delete “Identity 1″ from the location mentioned in the previous step (you won’t need it anymore) and then move the duplicate of your corrupted identity in its place.
16. Now launch the database utility, and you should only see that duplicate of your corrupted identity. Nothing else should be listed there. Now click Rebuild and keep your fingers crossed (that’s of course only if you have enough memory as explained earlier. Otherwise, it would just be a waste of your time because the rebuild will probable fail).
17. You should receive a message saying that your database was rebuilt successfully. Now, quit the database utility.
18. While you are still disconnected from the internet, start Microsoft Outlook. (and there you go, all your data back in front of your eyes….with all the folder structures maintained)……BUT HOLD ON, you’re not done yet.
19. Follow steps 1,2,3, and 4 from http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/05/how-to-move-your-data-to-a-new-identity/
20. Once you have quit Outlook in step 4 at that link in the previous step, start Microsoft AutoUpdate and install all available updates until you Office is updated to 14.2.4.
21. Now go back to http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/05/how-to-move-your-data-to-a-new-identity/ and skip step 5. Go to Step 6 and continue to the end of that document.
22. You should now have your Outlook looking exactly as it did the day your identity got corrupted, hopefully with no data lost at all.

Headers when create a Database table
Hi,
I think this question would be simple.
I'm working with a mySQL Database. I proceed as follow:
1) I open the connexion (OK),
2) Insert data on table -table1- (OK),
3) Execute a query (OK?)
4) Create a new table (table2) and Insert data from query.
In step 3, when I visualize all data (fetch all) in table, the headers belong to table1, but data are correct.
Also, in step 4, no data has been inserted in new table (in fact, the new table has not been created). This is the error:
"Error 1 occurred at DB Tools Create Table If Not Exist.vi->DB Tools Insert Data.vi->00_Volcado a la BD.vi
Possible reason(s):
Argument error; the number of columns does not equal the number of parameters."
Any idea?
Thank you

create new table.JPG 113 KBThanks for answering chad_vi,
Finally I decided to create the table from mysql. The next step was to select the data to insert (via query).
I ask myself the following:
The recordeset reference of subvi 'DB tool execute query ' maintains the structure of the table read (in this case table 1) but only shows me the desired values in the query? If so would mean that do not match the number of columns.

Database wizard table headers are blank
This is an ongoing issue with crystal reports 2008. I have a progress Database with an ODBC connection. If I setup a connection to the database using the database wizard in CR 2008 I can see all of the tables, but if I add one of the tables to my report the table name does not display and I am unable to remove that table from the list. If I follow the same steps using crystal reports 11, this works without any issue. Does anyone know if this is a bug in crystal reports 2008?
Edited by: Kheasley on May 21, 2009 8:31 PMHi Russell
Which database you are reporting off?
You can try following workaround and create indirect ODBC connection.
Create a report using OLEDB connection and select Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers and then create a report .
This will point to your existing ODBC connection through OLEDB provider.
For the tables name that are blank do you have hyphen '-' in their names?
As advised by Jayendra you can try with Service Pack 1for Crysatl Reports 2008.
Hope this helps..

Hi Supports,
I am using sapinst homogeneous system copy in Linux on sybase.
I stuck on the the step 27/49 "create Database".
I checked Firewall is off.
i got points in my sapinst_dev.log that "
1)The log segment in the target database 'SID' is too small (9216 MB) to accommodate the log segment from the dumped database (10240 MB)"
and
2)"Can't change the owner of the master, model, tempdb or sybsystemprocs database"
Do i need to increase "sybase/SID/saplog_1" ? because my "saplog_1" is 49 mb now.
if it is ! how do i increase in this stage.
can any one know about this error???
Thanks,
Aziz.Hi,
When i seen SID.log file so its showing deadlock and checkpoint occurring,
Is any solution ???
Is this because of networks?
we had 2 servers on this same IP. but i stopped one server and one is still running.
please find my SID.log file and revert back if any soltion.

Problem with Join Queries using PHP and an Orcale Database
Ok, I am trying to build a simple php querying tool for my oracle database and for the most part it is working however I am having a problem getting data from my join queries. If I run the following query :
QUERY:
SELECT lastfirst,EnteredBy,Debit FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
Lastfirst EnteredBy Debit
caiu, test 204 1
But when I run the query correctly I get no results
QUERY:
SELECT sts.lastfirst,gl.EnteredBy,gl.Debit FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
sts.lastfirst gl.EnteredBy gl.Debit
and if I run the query combining the two above methods and adding a field (schoolid) that has the same name on both table I get the following result sets
QUERY:
SELECT lastfirst,EnteredBy,Debit,sts.schoolid FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
lastfirst EnteredBy Debit sts.schoolid
caiu, test 204 1
QUERY:
SELECT lastfirst,EnteredBy,Debit,schoolid FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
NONE
Therefore, I have to have something written incorrectly in my php code and I just can not figure it out. My entire code is pasted below please provide me with an assistance you might have to offer. I have change the odbc_connec line so I could post it to this forum. In addition, I had to phrase out the column headers there for when you write the column headers you have to use ~ instead of , as the separator and then I turn back into the correct format for sql.

And currently the Enterprise manager is not be able to conenct to the database and my database is still running.With my listener is up.
But from the Enterprise manager's it show that everythg is down.

And i would like to know how to set up the environment variable for Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
Please kindly assist me on this.Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

After displaying ALV report output, if you want to update database table based on your selected record, then use the below logic in your User_command subroutine.
You will get the index of the selected record in rs_selfield-tabindex. using this index read the respective record from the internal table and move corresponding field to the table fields and then update.
data : wa_data like t_data.
read table t_data index rs_selfield-tabindex into wa_data.
if sy-subrc = 0.
move-corresponding wa_data to ztable.
insert ztable.
endif.

Save report as pdf in the database
Hi all,
is it possible to save the generated pdf from reports10g in the database?
RegardsHere is what I was looking for:
re:How to get cookie information or http headers values inside Oracle reports
pr_example in the above forum was written under 8i. In 9i, they added the timeout which is set to a default of 60 seconds. Look at the UTL_HTTP package spec on more information on setting this timeout.
Plus, printing the BLOB is easier too. You can just use wpg_docload.download_file instead of using the while loop.
Anyway, that example shows you how to call a report from a stored procedure, store it in a blob, and even it print it back to the browser. -
Incomplete List of Values in Interactive Report Column Headers
Oracle Database 11g 64-bit
Apex 3.1.1.00.09
I created an interactive report that results in over 10,000 records, and several of the columns have incomplete filter values when you click on the column header. It's not even close in some instances. It's not even showing the values that are loaded in the visible page.
I have tried recreating the report on a new page, as well as creating a database view with the query and then just querying the view (in case there was a problem with query complexity).
I'm at my wits end as to why this is happening. Have any of you seen this happen, and is there any way to get around it? I know I can write my own LOV query for the column headers, but those won't be dynamic like they are supposed to be out of the box taking applied filters into account.
Thanks in advance.Tim,
Did you find a solution to this. I have the same problem.
Cheers

i will insert it into db_header and db_details
db_header has tbl_pcountheader with fld_Rack_No(char) PK and fld_DateAdded(date) PK
db_details has tbl_pcountdetails with fld_Rack_No(char) PK, fld_Barcode(char) PK and fld_Quantity(int)
then i will lookup in db_products
db_products has tbl_products and tbl_barcodes
tbl_products has fld_ItemCode
tbl_barcodes has fld_Barcode and fld_ItemCode
now i want to make a prompt contains
