Database in Gigabytes - Optimized Replication - Assistance please

Hi,
I ran into a problem and have to find a solution.
We have two Oracle database servers. say X and Y. Both are on separate machines.
Y is a subset of X.
Periodically, Y need to update itself with the changes/updation of X.
Estimate of amount of data being copied is in Giga bytes.
In theory, oracle provided replication scheme of one Master and one destination sites ( 'Materialized Views Replication') would take extensively long time to complete.
Can any one help please?

I am playing the role of R&D person at the moment.
Our main database is Oracle 9.2 handling loads and loads of transactions each day.
We have another readonly database for reporting purpose.
The voulme of change occuring in the main database each day is too large, estimate is 2 to 3 gigs.
Can anyone please provide a high level guideline to a performance friendly solution?
Till now, i have been researching on Both Signle and Multimaster replications, but none of them appears to be performance friendly.
Oracle Streams however, felt little better approach.
Comments and suggestions are badly needed.

is the background apart of your image or is the image on a different layer?
if the white background is on a different layer you can simply delete the layer for the layers window which you can find in Window>Layer. you will need to delete the background layer by dragging it into the little rubbish bin icon down the bottom right of the layers window.

Unable to setup Database control using emca on linux Please help!

I have read about a dozen post on this issue and no one gives exactly what they did to solve the problem. Seems like i have an incomplete installation that is screwing me up. I've read of some people removing the SYSMAN schema, people removing certain roles, etc.
The only thing ive tried:
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
Can someone please give me the exact steps I must follow in order to have a COMPLETE fresh clean dbconsole?

I honestly have no bloody clue why its saying invalid user/pass.. all sys accounts are working fine..what am I missing here.

symptom: ERROR = 12571

symptom: Database operations continue successfully
cause: The most common cause for the above error is an ungraceful
disconnection of a session from the oracle db while the db is currently running
a dml statement issued by that session. The error is recorded when oracle
attempts to reply back to the session with the results of the dml and cannot
access the session. Overall database operations are usually not affected.
An ungraceful disconnection could cause by but is not limited to any of the
following:
- the client machine crashed
- the network connection crashed
- the user exited the session improperly (not issuing the 'exit' command)
- the user application allows the user to exit the application without properly
terminating the session.
The above can cause problems with corrupted rollback segments if occurring on a
regular basis and is not addressed. This would require db recovery and
possibly a db rebuild (not a light matter)
PMON will usually rollback most transactions in the rollback segments for a
session if it finds that the session has been ungracefully disconnected, but
there is always a chance that it cannot and this will lead to rollback segment
corruption.
fix:
The dml and the user that issued the dml can be determined from the trace file.
The current dml is in the tracefile header section. The user can be found in
the process state dump of the trace. The process state shows the machine,
o/suser, and user for the session.
The DBA can use this information to determine what the user was doing at the
time and if there was an ungraceful exit from the session the user was
utilizing.
The DBA should then address the cause of the ungraceful exit to reduce the
possibility of recurrence.

Colleauge, what is the purpose of making a connection to a non-existent database.
connections are made to the database to retrieve some data or put some data.
for which the database should exists.
so please create the mydb database first using Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) which is much easier as it is GUI based rather than doing it with sql scripts.

I have a Web server which is on a Linux box but the database I wish to connect to is on Windows NT. How can I connect to the data source.
Both Linux and Windows machines are on the same network at the moment but will change later on.

I think there are 3 ways to do so
1. JDBC
2. ODBC-JDBC bridge
3. don't remember the third
I would check it with JDBC section of the javasoft site. Also since your web server is on a linux box, you probably will not be able to use ODBC-JDBC bridge. I would try the JDBC method, but that requires you to get the JDBC driver for the database that you are trying to connect to!

Nedd your help for aceesing database in minisap 4.6 d (please help)

hi all sap masters please help me.
i have installed the minisap 4.6d system in the windows 200 prof os.
i had the following problem in my minisa access.
while Displaying table contents with transactions SE11 or SE16
gives an error "No changes on SAP objects allowed".
while Accessing the logical database F1S gives a syntax error because the
include DBF1SF01 is missing.
so i have used the mbspatch1 that comes with the cd.
i have copied the mbscorr0104200 file in the directory '<MBS_DIR>\trans\tmp' as mentioned.
and i have followed the steps as follows.but i have the same problem.please have a look at the
process below and hel me to make it work roerly.
this roblem is really eating me a lot and since many in this forum are sap master,thought
you all can help me please.
C:\>cd mbs
C:\MBS>dbenv.cmd
C:\MBS>REM Setting environment for db connect to MBS
C:\MBS>set dbms_type=mss
C:\MBS>set DIR_LIBRARY=.
C:\MBS>set MSSQL_DBNAME=MBS
C:\MBS>cd trans\tmp
C:\MBS\TRANS\TMP>r3trans -i mbscorr01042000
'R3TRANS' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
hope there was some problem here only,but to continue i have pasted the r3trans in the folder C:\MBS\TRANS\TMP
C:\MBS\TRANS\TMP>r3trans -i mbscorr01042000
This is R3TRANS version 6.05 (release 46D - 04.10.00 - 09:16:00).
2EETW169 no connect possible: "connect failed with DBLI_RC_LOAD_LIB_FAILED."
R3TRANS finished (0012).
then i have done the generate program step .
(4) Generate programs:
     - Logon as user BCUSER to the MBS system.
     - Start transaction SE38.
     - Enter the program 'SAPLSTRD' and select 'Program -> Generate'.
     - Enter the program 'SAPDBF1S' and select 'Program -> Generate'.
while generating the second program i got the error Accessing the logical database F1S gives a
syntax error because the include DBF1SF01 is missing.
hope somebody could have got the same problem.so please help me with your experience.iam new to this
minisap problems.
again all the roblem of acessing the tables exit even after doing the steps.
hope i have explained my problem very clearly.
please find where i went wrong or suggest some help to acess the datadase tables with the minisap cd.
