I HAD PROBLEM THAT I WANT MY DATABASE CHARACTERSET IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE..
ACTUALLY I M WORKING ON RUSSIAN PROJECT..
MY PROBLEM IS I HAD TO INSERT DATA IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND WHEN I FETCHED DATA
THROUGH FRONT END USING (FORMS 6I )IT SHOULD COME IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGES..
I DID THE FOLLOWING SETTING IN ORACLE..
IN NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETER I SET THE FOLLOWING
NLS_CHARACTER SET='CL8MSWIN1251'
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET='CL8MSWIN1251'
NLS_LANG=RUSSIAN
NLS_TERRITORY=CIS
AND IN THE REGISTRY OF ORACLE I SET THE FOLLOWING...
NLS_LANG=RUSSIAN_CIS.CL8MSWIN1251
BUT WHEN I INSERT RECORD THROUGH BACKEND IT TAKES JUNK CHARACTERS..
PLZ GIVE ME APPROPRIATE SOLUTION

Did you edit the init.ora parameter file? Things like the database character set cannot be changed merely by editing the parameter file. If you are on 9i, Windows-1251 is also not a valid national character set.
When you are connected to the database, try
SELECT *
FROM v$nls_parameters
WHERE parameter LIKE '%CHARACTERSET'When the database was installed, did you install the Russian language option? If not, things like SQL*Plus won't have the fonts to display the Russian characters.

Set the IP phone SPA 922 display language to russian

I have several IP-phones SPA 922.
I would like to set the IP phones display language to russian.
at the URL http://www.linksys-itsp.com I didn't find a dictonary in russian.
Can I find that dictonary?
Or Can I create the dictonary by myself and how can I do that?
There are no such instructions in the phone guide.

Issue while sending SMS from JavaMail in languages like Russian & Japanese

Hi,
We have a requirement to send multi lingual SMS to users mobile number.
We are using JavaMail API for this. The only changes we have done to send SMS (instead of EMAIL) using a standard JavaMail code are –
1)     Use the suffix @sms after the mobile number. For eg: 919923456789@sms.<domain>.com.
2)     Use “text/plain” instead of “text/html” while setting the content type.
The SMS is sent fine for English and French but we get junk characters for languages like Japanese and Russian even on phones which support these languages.
Could anyone please advice on the below points –
1)     Is this a limitation with respect to JavaMail? If yes, is there any other api that can be used?
2)     Does some setting needs to be done in the SMS gateway to enable sending SMS in Japanese and Russian?
3)     Does some setting needs to be done in the mobile phone to receive SMS in Japanese and Russian?
Any help on this issue will be appreciated.

I tried this but still not getting correct text. If I try with "UTF-16BE"/"UTF-16LE", then I do not get an SMS at all. I have tried with UTF-8 as well.
Does it matter if I change the phone language before/after I receive the message in a language different from the currently set phone language?
I am based out of India and am trying to send these messages to some of my colleagues who are all using Indian service providers. I have tried this on phones which have Russian as a language option.

How to set default language for typing english if my OS language is russian?

Hi. I cant figure out how to set english as default typing language. Opening Skype, new browser window, vpn client, switches my input to russian (my os language). Especially this annoys if im trying to enter login and password.

Changeing language (e.g. to have english menues or keybord layout) on a system, took place in applications too only if the application supports that language, or uses by default the system librarys to adopt the language settings.
Not all applications use automatically the system librarys of your Mac for language settings or spell checking. Most will do so, some only during installation, some never.
Applications can have own language settings others have only the installation language available.
Have you checked this on Chrome (Wrench -> Options -> Advanced -> Change Fonts and language settings -> Language -> Google Chrome language) and your VPN Client?

Unfortunately, there is no much to do. The OS language cannot be converted!!!
If you want to use the Windows in English language you will have to buy the original Microsoft Windows CD with a English version of Win MCE.
Then you have to install this OS and the necessary drivers from the Toshiba driver page.
The drivers can be chosen in different languages.

Database language and characterset settings

Hi to all.
In our company, we are trying to migrate oracle 11g r2 from Ms SQL Server 2000. Our old system has DB links with other MS SQL Servers.
Our new system will be working on 64 bit fujitsu machine with Oracle enterprise linux on it. The company is in Turkey by the way and and the collation of the server ( which has 32 bit processor ) that has to be linked to new oracle system is "Turkish_CI_AS". What would be the best choice for the region, language and the character set of the database or the server?

I would set the database character set to UTF8, which is a variable-length encoding mechanism. It uses between 1 and 4 bytes to represent any one of the million-plus Unicode characters. It has at least two characteristics that are very appealing: it is completely backward-compatible with ASCII formatted files and it typically results in the smallest encoded string.
You can use ALTER DATABASE SET CHARACTERSET UTF8 or the CSALTER script to convert your current database, but only provided your current character set is a strict subset of UTF-8, otherwise data corruption can occur. You set the database character set when you create the database. In most cases, you need to do a full export/import to properly convert all data to the new character set.
NLS_LANG=language_territory.charset. For Turkish I would suggest the following NLS_LANG environment variable:
TURKISH_TURKEY.UTF8

I just got a new Blackberry Style and I need to change the display language to Russian. I know you can add languages using the desktop manager but Russian does not appear as an option. I have tried to update and install the latest versions of BlackBerry 6OS but still no Russian support. Does anyone know if this is even possible? And if so where can I download the language pack? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer!

You might need to see if you can find a version of the OS that has multilanguage support. Now then, a quick check of the Sprint BlackBerry download site shows that the Sprint OSes are multilanguage, so try downloading the most up to date OS to your computer, install it, then see if you can add the language files using the BlackBerry Desktop Software after:

10.4 did not have Russian. Upgrade to 10.5, which does. Or contact http://www.apple.com/ru/ and see if they still have the Russian add-on they made for 10.4 several years ago.

Please start here:

Then, the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

You must reference the first KB I linked as you search for an appropriate OS package
The portal is first sorted by carrier, then by device...so you must spend some time researching to find the OS pacakge that you require, by finding all carriers that support your specific model number, then comparing the OS packages they each make available for your specific device, so as to choose the correct one for your needs
4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
From what you described above, I suspect this step is what you may have not conducted...either that or you simply installed no OS package to your PC at all.
5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
Don't forget to backup.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Can I change language to russian, if my iPhone was bought in USA?

All ios devices can be changed to Russian and any other language listed in their tech specs by using Settings > General > International > Language
