Database Management Productivity Application
Apple supplies quite a few productivity applications for both OsX and iOS such as pages, keynote and numbers. However, they are missing a database management application such as Microsoft Access. I would like to create and maintain databases on the iPhone of items I am collecting in order to keep track what I have and in order to store information about the items I own. None of the current OsX or iOs productivity apps would allow me to do that.
There are a number of database applications available, but none are part of the iWorks family. Teh need to use them across iOS and OS X may limited the choices a little bit, but a search of the App Store and the MAC App store should show you a few.

So I guess, when I get the new HDD, I will first set it to AHCI and then install the OSes on it. See if NCQ helps any, and if not I will turn it back and re-install (if I have to). I am planning to have Windows only in virtualbox in the new drive.
Anyhoo, while I was in the BIOS I found two things which I had questions about :
1) Under Onboard Devices --> Integrated NIC , my setting is currently set at "On w/PXE" and it says the default should be just "On". Would it be ok to change it back to On since its a single machine and its not booting an OS on any server. I just don't want to have to re-install anything now since I will be doing that in the new HDD.
2) How would I know whether my BIOS would support a 64 bit OS in Virtualbox? I checked some setting under Virtualization, but they weren't very clear.

Product Database Management For Manufacturers Web Site - How do I do this W/ Templates?
In short, I have an excell database of product. I am
developing a web site for a factory with many products. I have
never used a database to fill specific template data, except for
3rd party shopping carts...
So, how do create a database, upload it to the site, and
allow users to access product information? Looking for your typical
database to template set up with tags in specics spots withint he
HTML of the template that reference the columns of data in a
specific row of the database.
I basically need a shipping cart, but with no "BUY" or "VIEW
CART" buttons.

you're going to be using. The server can drive what database
you're
going to use.
MySQL?
MSSQL?
Access?
There are others.
If you're on a PHP server you may want to stay with MySQL.
Talk to your
server admin to see what is installed. MySQL has a control
panel called
"Workbench" that can manage the database.
MSSQL uses Enterprise Manager to administer the database.
Whether it's MySQL or MSSQL, each will be able to import
data; same can
be said for Access. Access is probably the least flexible; in
other
words, it's not built for as high of performance but for
small sites
without a lot of traffic, it's probably fine. With Access,
you basically
build the tables and everything on your own computer and then
upload the
mdb file to the server.
Once you have the database, you can start to build a page in
Dreamweaver. The first thing you should do is pick your
server script
language VBScript, php, ... You then create a connection to
the
database. Once the connection is made, those tables become
available to
drag and drop on your page. From there you can do repeats and
form
columns of data to display products.
That's it in a nutshell. -
DR database Needs Different Application Schemas
I am looking for experienced thoughts on Logical Standby database configurations using Data Guard...
I have a Production database containing three application-specific schemas along with a handfull of schemas supporting business data. The DR site needs to receive replicated business data, but allow extra schemas to exist to support DR-side apps, which have a configuration based on location. E.g. the DR-side apps need to be setup using paswords that are hashed using hostnames, which are different given the DR site...
My initial thoughts are to use a Logical Standby configuration to solve this, opening the standby database to allow the creation of extra application schemas.
Can anyone tell me how suitable a solution this is, or if there is a better alternative?
Oracle documentation explains that Logical standby database are generally used to off-load reporting and backups so I am concerned that my solution is going to produce management problems later down the line.
Any comments much appreciated!

I agree that Logical standbys are not ideal for DR, but I can't see any other option in my situation. The problem is that a Physical standby won't work because I need the DR database to contain different application data to the Live site.
Can you think of any other approved/reccommended solutions or technologies that will help, where Prod and DR are both single instance 10g DBs?
One thought is to have separate databases on the DR side: one to host the app schemas and one acting as a physical standby for business data.

I am the Database Management System Administrator for the company I am working with. The company has branches in other regions of the country. In order to control and centralize its operational information management I have realized the need for the database to have internet link to help achieve the purpose. I have tried to connect my apex 11g to the internet but I have not succeeded. I am thinking of an alternative of using the Oracle Online Worskspace. Would Oracle allow me to use it? I shall also be glad if someone can still help me to configure my apex database to be accessed on the internet that can be used to manage large geographical operations.

Thank you in advanced.This happens when the database of WLSE is corrupted. Use " reinitdb " command to reinitialize the database. Then try to stop the service for 5 mins and start again.

Connection of oracle database in database server from application server

I have two servers, one is application server and another one is database server…..
I want to connect oracle 10g database in database server to application server. In application server oracle 10g client is installed……In database server, I have set tnsnames.ora, Listener.ora …while checking in lsnrctl…the particular sid is running fine…
In application server, while I give as sqlplus
After giving username and password its showing error as

While surfing in net it shows check tnsnames.ora and listener.ora….. I have set the environmental variables here in application server…..

Your question is the answer. Oracle9i Database manages all your eBusiness data and Oracle9iAS runs all your eBusiness
applications. In a 3 tier architecture, Oracle9i Database fits in the Database tier where as Oracle9iAS fits in the middle
tier. Oracle9iAS provides an infrastructure to run different types of applications(J2EE thru OC4J, Forms applns, Portal
based applns, Wireless applns etc..)

Basically I have to read collation of two SQL Sever databases and compare them in C# application.

May I ask the meaning of this "collation of SQL Server "? Do you mean data collection or you mean the whole database file?
I saw that you want the two database the same and you want to use C#, in this way I would recommend you check the following tutorial as a start:

Create New Service Session at Solution Manager = Product System missing
We have installed SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 last year but not really use it.
We have setup in the system landscape:
Server (ecc6sbx)
Databases (MCD)
Product System (MCD) => SAP ERP
Assigned them to logical component (eg ZECC6DEV)
RFC destination for MCD was generated
SDCCN Administration at solutions manager display MCD with SDCCN status in green color.
At the satellite system MCD, SDCCN Maintenance job was created and scheduled. Initial single run was also done.
There were no issue. Connection to SDCC_OSS was fine.
Back to the SOLUTION_MANAGER transaction, we created a new solution ECC ERP - Development.
In the Solution Landscape => Solution Settings, we have assigned the Logical Component into the System Group.
However when we expand the tree, and click on the Servers folder it did not display anything.
Click on the Product Systems also did not display anything.
We have another Solution Manager which display information on those Servers and Product Systems folder for satellite system.
Going back to the Solution Manager for the Solution ECC ERP - Development, I tried to Create New Service Session for EarlyWatch Alert. When I click on the Create button, I could only see SAP EarlyWatch Alert for Solutions, there is no SAP EarlyWatch Alert for the Reference Object MCD (<installation number). I could not create a session for MCD.
Does anyone have ideas what I am missing here? I am trying to attached a document which have print screen for reference while creating this message, but there is no such function here.

I have the information on the below from our solution manger
The data for this session is overdue. Data has not yet been transferred from the associated satellite system.
Go to the Service Data Control Center (transaction SDCCN) in the satellite system and check why the data has not been sent.
Typical sources of errors are:
The RFC connection for the SAP Solution Manager system is not working.
The 'Task Processor' background job, which collects the session data, has been changed.
Problems arose while data was being collected (see the detail log for the task that collects the session data).
A periodic 'SDCC Maintenance Package' task has not been scheduled to check whether your SAP Solution Manager system requests session data.
I tried to go SDCCN on the solution manager itself and look at the Maintenance Service Definitions:
I get the information:
No suitable RFC Destination found in SDCCN settings.
When I click ok I get the following
No RFC destionation to source system of service definitions available
Delete Service Definitions (radio button selected).
I did not continue and cancel it as I did not want to delete anything.
I check the Task Processor background job is running at SM host itself.
I managed to get the Maintenance Package job running. However it failed with the following
Error refreshing service definitions from destination SM_SSMCLNT001_BACK
Source and target system may not be identical SSM
The source and target system is the same ==> SSM, will this be an issue? -

It was such a wonderous product that it was buried in the trash can of history when it did neither task very well. -
After upgrading to APEX 4.1 the database management GUI has been removed
I've succesfully upgrated to APEX 4.1 on my database 10gXE
The only problem is that now the database management GUI (Usage Monitor section) has been removed from APEX and I'd like to keep on dealing with DBA activities as before. How is it possibile? Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?

unfortunately, that management GUI is an XE specific application build into the APEX version that shipped with XE. So basically, what you experience is correct: After an APEX upgrade, you can't use it anymore, because the "generic" APEX versions are not branded for XE.
There is a theoretic possibility of using the command line exporter to export that management application from the old APEX instance before upgrading (or using a different XE instance that still has it) and import it to the upgraded APEX instance. But I would not recommend to do that, as APEX itself has changed a lot from the 2.2-branch that XE 10.2 shipped with to the 4.1 you use now. This can cause severe issues when using that application in 4.1, especially concerning the APEX management part of that application.
Now can I handle DBA activities only by using SQL*Plus and SQL Developer?I'd recommend that. And I really think SQL Developer has become very handy for that purpose compared with the version that was out when XE 10.2 was released...

Database Management Copy Data - Replace Option
Can anyone provide info on how this works? we are using 9.2.1
When using database management to copy data, when using the replace option, even if we only pick a few accounts to copy, it is erasing all data in the Target scenario. Does the replace option clear all data by default before copying in the selected data?
we tried to use the Merge option but apparently that doesn't always work for some reason-could be user error. not sure.

WagsHey Wags- this is expected functionality of the Replace method. It clears all custom/account data for the load entity/year/period combo prior to do the load. For example, if there is P&L data in entity A in Jan 2010 and you load $500 to it in a Sales account, all the rest of the P&L data will be cleared and you'll just have $500 in the Sales account.
Here's stuff from the guide:
Several options are available for loading data into an application. You can merge, replace, or
accumulate the data into the application. You select one of these options for each load process.
Note:
You cannot load calculated data into an application.
Merge
Select this option to overwrite the data in the application with the data from the file.
For each unique point of view that exists in the data file and in the application, the value in the
data file overwrites the data in the application.
Note:
If you have multiple values in the file for the same point of view, the system loads only the value
for the last entry.
If you select the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Merge option, the system
adds all values for the same point of view in the data file, and overwrites the data in the application
with the total.
For each unique point of view that is in the data file but does not have a value in the application,
the value from the data file is loaded into the application.
Replace
For each unique combination of scenario, year, period, entity, and value in the data file, the
system first clears all corresponding values from the application, then loads the value from the
data file.
Note:
If you have multiple values in the file for the same unique combination of dimensions, the system
loads only the value for the last entry.
If you select the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Replace option, the
system clears the value from the application, adds all values for the same point of view in the
data file, and loads the total.
You can achieve the same result as using the Replace option with the Accumulate Within File
option by using the Database Management module. You can organize the data in the file into
groups based on Scenario, Year, Entity, Value, and Period.
Use the Clear Data tab in the Database Management module to clear each unique combination
of these dimensions, selecting all accounts including system accounts. Enter the data manually
in a data grid, or load or copy the data into the application using the Merge or Accumulate load
options. When you perform the Clear operation for a period in a subcube, data, cell text, and
line item detail are cleared, but cell attachments are not cleared.
Note:
You may need to create several small files to load a data file using the Replace mode, especially
if the data is very large or if the file contains ownership data. An error message is displayed if the
file is too large when you try to load it.
Replace by Security
This option enables you to perform a data load in Replace mode even if you do not have access
to all accounts. When you perform the Clear operation for a period in a subcube, only the cells
to which you have access are cleared. Data, cell text, and line item detail are cleared, but cell
attachments are not cleared.
Accumulate
For each unique point of view that exists in the data file and in the application, the value from
the load file is added to the value in the application.
Note:
Data for system accounts is not accumulated.
Accumulate Within File
You can use the Accumulate Within File option in conjunction with the Merge and Replace
options. This option accumulates the data in the file first and loads the totals into the application
based on the load option selected.
File Contains Ownership Data
If the file contains ownership data, you must indicate this by selecting File Contains Ownership
Data. If you do not select this option and the data file contains ownership or shares information,
an error occurs when you load the file.
