Database utility SE14 purpose

Hello folks,
I have read a few forums on the functionality or SE14, but and unable to understand the exact occasion on when to use this TCode.
Its been said that SE14 is automatically executed while moving the transports.
We had an issue while moving the transport to production while one of the transparent table was locked in the database.
Due to this there was an inconsistency between the SAP Application table and the Database table and the ALTER TABLE function failed.
So, my question is does SE14 adjust the DB table by using table conversion.

give your table name and press edit. on the next screen select activate and adjust data. This will adjust your data in the table according to new structure

I've got an iMac with database corruption found in the DB.. What happens if I rebuild the DB, an option the Database Utility is giving me? Will it wipe out my files or will they be protected?

I've been having issues with my iMac, particularly with the Office:Mac Suite. I took it to the Genius Bar and they confirmed there was some corruption and decided the best thing would be to transfer all my files to the external hard drive I had brought with me. After the transfer, they completely wiped all apps off the computer, then reloaded them. They then reloaded my data from the external hard drive back to the computer hard drive. I reloaded the Office mac 2008 Suite when I got home. Since then I have hooked up the external hard drive back to the computer (it's my time machine) and all is well, except, when I open any of the programs on the Office: Mac suite, I get the following message:
There is a problem with the Office database
Office might be unable to access the database or the database files might be damaged. Without the database, you might beunable to use the Address Book, Scrapbook. and other features that store your personal information
To rebuild the database, open Microsoft Office 2008/Office, and then open the Microsoft Databse Utility. For more information, open the Database Utility application, and on the Help menu, click Database Utility Help.
I did this and it gives me the option of rebuilding the DB but it gives no indication if there is danger of losing all my files. Does anybody else know what will happen? Is there another solution? Should I simply reload the Office: Mac suite again?

Copy your DB to the internal hard drive and then run the rebuilder.
It might be the in the process of reinstalling Office the copy protection file was removed and thus you need to revalidate or something also.

Error apdapting database using database utility(transaction se11)

Hello;
     We have a several z* tables of an aplicattion running for a year in a production enviroment. We have to change 4 data elements used in these tables.
   These elements were QUAN 4 decimals 0 and we have to pass to QUAN 4 decimals 2. I have change the data element in the devolopment enviroment by adjusting these tables with database utility(transaction se11) without problems. The values were transformed adding 2 decimals.
   I try to do the same in the quality eviroment(production copy) and appears an error adapting these fields. The tables have a lot of registers (more than 100.000 ) the error DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR; the table appears in the dicctionary but it is not created in the ORACLE.
     Do you know how can I finish this step?. It is possible these transformation QUAN 4 decimals 0 to QUAN 4 decimals 2?? In development I have not problem.

I have analysed the short dump; I and the "error analysis"; and debugged where it fails. ... and I can't find a solution...
I paste the code where it fails...
         INSERT QCM8ZSD11 CLIENT SPECIFIED
            FROM TABLE QCM8ZSD11_TAB ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS.
The temporal table generated is QCM8ZSD11 and the original the ZSD11.
It fails in the 5 step.

   5 Conversion of data to new table, deletion of renamed table
   6 Creation of sec. indexes

DB Utility (SE14) when adding new fields on standard dictionary table

Hi all,
we're searching of an official SAP document (or OSS Note) that certifies the mandatory use of DB utility (SE14) when we add one or more custom fileds on an append structure of a standard table (i.e. like VBAP).
Note: The custom append Structure already exists.

Microsoft database utility

hi there:
so, at work, we just upgraded everyone to entourage 13, web services edition. ran into some problems, natch. basically, i have user whose identity got corrupted (if i try to import her identity, it looks like it'll work, but it only takes like 2 seconds and then there's nothing there).
so, i want to run a repair on her original identity ("main identity"), but when i open the ms database utility, the only identity i can choose from is "main identity 1" (the new identity).
i've tried right-clicking on the main identity's database and opening with the utility, but nothing happens. i've tried several renaming tricks, but i just cannot get this stupid database to open in the tool.
there's probably a terminal command, but i haven't had any luck finding it.
can anyone help me with this? i'm dyin' over here!

NAC Profiler database utility for upgrade

I am trying to upgrade NAC Profiler Lite by following the following Cisco Doc

In section Upgrading 2.1.8 Cisco NAC Profiler Server and Profiler Lite Standalone Systems to 3.1.0.
I'm trying to run the database migration utility. Utility is showing in the home/beacon directory. When I run the command specified in the Doc to untar the utility package (tar xvfz DB-utility_218to31x.tgz) I receive the followinig errors:
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Any suggestions?

The file name is DB-utility_219to31x.tgz and the MD5 on the download page is 335b7ca5215394ccc94c7b48ca242a3b.
I'm not sure if it is changing during the download to my workstation or not. I had our IA Security guy look at it and he said there is no way for him to check the MD5 of the file on my workstation. Once I put it on the profiler, the MD5 is

Database utility

Hi all,
Here i have changed the lenght of field in the table pa9103.
custom field only .
i try to activate but it is giving some errors
then i went to se14 and try to adjust the table but the system is saying error in step 2.
can any body help me in this regards we are using ECC 6 .

I need to generate 2 TB of database. This is for test purpose, so please provide me with any information that could achieve this in simple steps.
If you could provide script that will be the best. I have 10.2.0.4 database on HPUX 11.31 PA-RISC server.

You need to be a lot more specific about what you mean with testing purposes.
I have 10.2.0.4 database on HPUX 11.31 PA-RISC server.Note that premiere support for 10.2 has been terminated in July 2010 - whereas it only terminates in January 2015 for 11.2. So it makes a lot more sense to be on a newer version of Oracle.

ADX Database Utility failing on FS2 patch system

View-does not exist on the database

Hi Experts,
Our Data Source/Extract Structure (R/3) is based on a view.
There is an Issue with the View/DAta Source
If i go to SE11>view Name> Display then i am getting
'View ZART_ATTRS is not in the database' and then the next screen is the view definition
This is a database view which is defined in the ABAP/4 Dictionary but does not exist on the database. No data can be read for this reason
If i go to RSO2 and enter data source name and select display...
Then it will display data source status as 'Saved' how can i activate it
and i go to RSA6 select my Z data source which is based on the above view....context menu display data source/Check data source...when i get error
'Only Tables and views are permitted for extraction'
How can i overcome it

Hi,
As your view is existing in ABAP DICTIONARY , you need to take help of your DBA to get this created in the underlying database. This can be created using Database utility se14 transaction code. But it is good to have your DBA involved so that you have proper table space allocated to it.

Transfer structure Activation Problem

hi guys...
i've just installed new bw system and done all post processing steps correctly...
while working in this bw...
if i try to activate any Transfer structure, it is giving an error with the message...
'no ddic tabel /bic/000004000... exists...'
if i go to detailed message...
it is saying that this table shud be created by the system automatically.. otherwise create one in the database utility(se14)...
what does it mean... i'm not understanding what table is this and y i'm being asked for this...???
pl tell me the solution how to rectify this problem...
