DatabaseMetaData.getColumns(...) returns an invalid size of NVARCHAR2

Hi,
I have the following problem.
I'm using ojdbc14.jar version 10.2.0.2.0
I'm trying to read table metadata from database using DatabaseMetaData.getColumns(...). And, when I read the size of a NVARCHAR2 column (using either COLUMN_SIZE or CHAR_OCTET_LENGTH) it returns the double of the maximum length (as if it were expressed in bytes!)
Javadocs says: COLUMN_SIZE int => column size. For char or date types this is the maximum number of characters, for numeric or decimal types this is precision.
Does anyone have the same problem?
Does anyone know if there is an open bug on this topic?

I tried changing NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS parameter, and unfortunately it was unsuccessful :-(
I'm using NVARCHAR2 column type and in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams127.htm says the following:
NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, CLOB, and NCLOB columns are always character-based
I also tried to use (in a simple test case) the newest available driver 11.1.0.6.0. (but, for production I need ojdbc14.jar) and I got the same result.

I have two cases:
1. databasemetaData.getColumns("", "SCOTT", "TableOne",null); returns me resultset which has info about all the columns in table 'TableOne'.
BUT
2. databasemetaData.getColumns("", "SCOTT", "SynonymOne",null); returns me nothing. Here SynonymOne is a valid synonym on my database.
Can you please tell me how do I get info about columns by passing a synonym name? This is very urgent and any help regarding this is highly appreciated.

I wish I could help you but I know little of table synonyms. The only thing close that I know of is the long table names in DB2/400 vs. the 10 character restricted system names. Could it be a driver shortcoming? What DB driver and database are you using? MAybe there's a better approach to your overall problem besides sysnonyms?

DatabaseMetaData.getColumns COLUMN_DEF

I want the description of table columns using DatabaseMetaData.getColumns().
When I loop thru the ResultSet I got an exception each time I try to read the column's default value.
Debug traces look like this :
DRVR OPER OracleResultSetImpl.getString(columnIndex=13)
DRVR WARN DBError.findMessage(errNum, obj): returned Stream wurde schon geschlossen
java.sql.SQLException: Stream wurde schon geschlossen
Everything else is just fine

I don't know about it... If there is a fix, it will be in the latest driver
available on the Oracle download page now, so that's the version of ojdbc14.jar
that you should try.
Also, please make a new table, just to test this bug. It can have the same
DDL as your original table, but name it something unique to the DBMS such as:
CREATE TABLE EVERYONELOVESJOE(....)
then run your little metadata query on that table, and tell us if the loop
never ends... In your original test, just how high does i get before you quit?

After successful install, all my adobe cc docs, when open, change pointer arrow, i-beam and window to oversize. When doc closes all return to normal size. I'm on a PC. Screen res set to medium 1920x1200. Any ideas how to fix?

Inadvertently the typesize on the iPad screen has increased until it is impossible to read the screen. Can someone tell me how to return the type size to standard please.

As a newcomer to the iPad, can you please tell me how to return the font size to standard. Somehow I've enlarged the font size until it's unreadable and it applies to the icons as well! Many thanks in anticipation.

LV 2011 (and LV 2012) Compiler Error. Invalid size in _InstSize: 21

I created a subvi in LV8.5 to handle user interface events outside a main vi. The subvi gets the control references which are registered for events, by a queue all actions are sent to a consumer case, nothing fancy. Everything works fine in LV8.5, but now I took all over to LV2011SP1 on a Windows 7 64bit and I get always the same error:
"Compiler error. Report this problem to National Instruments Tech Support. Invalid size in _InstSize 21"
that pops up 3 times. I tried to open the same code also in LV2012, same error... When trying to isolate the problem, I found out that by disabling code in the 3 biggest consumer cases I can get rid of the warning, but then I can't reduce the problem to one single element...
Any ideas?

Try to inline the subvi's.
Try making them reentrant.
Mass compile.
Press ctrl-shift-arrow to force recompile of the entire vi call hierarchy.
Try separating the source from the binary.

IOS Mobile Device Management - The SCEP server returned an invalid response

I am in the process of writing an open source iOS mobile device management module in Java. For this I am referring the Apple provided Ruby code at [1]. I have set this up and it works fine for me. Now I need to convert this code to Java. So far I have accomplished to do that up to PKIOperation. In the PKI operation I get "The SCEP server returned an invalid response" which I believe is due to wrong response I sent to device upon PKIOperation.
However when I do search on the internet I get this is something to do with the "maxHttpHeaderSize" as I am using the server as Apache Tomcat. Although I increase that since still it does not get resolved.

Reset your iPad by holding the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
If that does not fix it, go to Settings > General > Accessibility and turn the items there "Off".

ISE BYOD Microsoft SCEP NDES 802.1x The SCEP server returned an invalid response

Using ISE 1.2 with WLC and on-boarding with single SSID. On occasion the error 'The SCEP server returned an invalid response' is received on the IPHONE being on-boarded - this is intermittent. The issue resolves itself in time. Any ideas on troubleshooting? tnks

On the NDES server regedit EnforcePassword = 0 and still having issues.
This has been done as well;
It is possible for ISE to generate URLs that are too long for the IIS web server. In order to avoid this problem, the default IIS configuration can be modified to allow for longer URLs. Enter this command from the NDES server CLI:

We are trying to enroll iPhone 3GS device with iOS 4.1 to be used with MDM. For SCEP server we use MSCEP in Windows Server 2008. We can't get over "Enrolling Certificate" step because it always fails with message "The SCEP server returned an invalid response.". How can we get more details? Analyzing captured HTTP stream revealed no issues.

We are testing in LAN and have configured our router to translate some domains to our local IPs. Could this be a problem? In payloads there are no IP addresses but these local domains.
It looks CA is issued the certificate, you might seen that from cert manger console. I don't see any obvious reason why cert got rejected by iPhone. (May be some one experts from apple can find from following dump) Anyway I suggest following option to you.
1) try with http if you are using https
2) install CA cert to phone and try again
3) check time between server and phone
4) try to change default scep issue template to issue 2048 key.
5) double check finger print(in SCEP profile) you config with ca cert.
