Date re-loading

Hi all,
What happens when u load the same data with the same selections again?
1. in cube
2. in ODS
3. Master data tables.
Do they data get duplicated(same records doubled), over written, or the previous data deleted and the new data is loaded?

Thanks for the reply. That was helpful. But one quick question, i have a content cube which pulls data from both the line item table and summary table. Then, the data should be duplicated. then why would some body want to get the data from both the tables, as getting the data from line item table and making aggregates would suffice the need. Is there any other purpose for getting the same data twice but in different forms?
And when u say in the ODS, it depends on the update rules. Where in the update rules do we specify to be overwritten or duplicated?

Data not loading from R/3 to BW

Hello
I am a new user in SAP BW, but i am quite familiar with it now. I am trying to load or extract data from the SAP r/3 system to the BW system. When i check the value of my extractor in rsa3 , i can see the records. But when i try to load into the cube in BW , it shows in my monitor " Not yet completed/warning" and "0 from 0 records" . My status is yellow in my details tab(though "REquests" message is green) I am using BW 3.x. It remains like that for a day and then the status changes to red without the data being loaded.
Can anyone help me out with this? I tried a lot of things, but still not able to find a solutions to this?

Well i know it doesnot even come to the PSA.. ! because I had tried that earlier, it still says the same.
I had tried activating also again , but with no success
The error message in the "Status" Tab is as follows
Request still running
Diagnosis
No errors could be found. The current process has probably not finished yet.

The ALE inbox of the SAP BW is identical to the ALE outbox of the source system
and/or

and/or
the batch job in the source system has not yet ended.

Error messages in the "details" tab is as follows.
->Overall Status:Missing Messages or Warning
   -->Requests (messages):Everything OK (green)
   -->Data Request Arranged(green)
   -->confirmed with :Ok (green)
-> Extaction (messages) missing messages
   -->Missing Messages: Request Received (yellow)
   -->Missing Messages: Number of sent records(yellow)
   -->Missing Messages:Selection completed(yellow)
->Transfer (IDocs and TRFC): Missing messages(yellow)
->Processing (DataPacket): no DAta(yelloW)
These were the errors

Performance issues with data warehouse loads

We have performance issues with our data warehouse load ETL process. I have run
analyze and dbms_stats and checked database environment. What other things can I do to optimize performance? I cannot use statspack since we are running Oracle 8i. Thanks

Hi,
you should analyze the db after you have loaded the tables.
Do you use sequences to generate PKs? Do you have a lot of indexex and/or triggers on the tables?
If yes:
make sure your sequence caches (alter sequence s cache 10000)
Drop all unneeded indexes while loading and disable trigger if possible.
How big is your Redo Log Buffer? When loading a large amount of data it may be an option to enlarge this buffer.
Do you have more then one DBWR Process? Writing parallel can speed up things when a checkpoint is needed.
Is it possible using a direct load? Or do you already direct load?

Data Not loaded from ap_invoice_lines_interface to the base table

Hi ,
Please I'm working on Interface which load invoices from Cobol system to oracle , anyway procedure is working on fine & all data is loaded to the interface as i'm inserting 4 attributes which is DFF on the invoice line level
Now when i ran the import program all data is loaded to the base table except one of the attributes isnot loaded .
will anyone tell me what is the reason or how can i trace that ..........

Deleting master data after loading transactional data using flat file

Dear All,
I have loaded transaction data into an infocube using a flat file . While loading DTP i have checked the option "load transactional data with out master data exists" . So transactional data is loaded even if no master data is there in BW.
While loading the flat file, I made a mistake for DIVISION Characteristic where original master data value is '04000' , but i loaded the transactional data with value '4000' .Then i later realized after seeing the data from the infocube and deleted the request. then i reloaded data with value '04000'. Till now every thing is fine.
But when I see the master data for DIVISION , i can see a new entry with value '4000'.
My question is how to delete the entry value '4000' from DIVISION. I tried deleting manually this entry from 'maintaining masterdata' , but it is not allowing me to do so .
I have also checked if any transactional data exists for that value '4000' , as i said earlier I have deleted the transactional data with that values. even tried to delete the entries from the master data table, but i donot see a option to delete entries there.
Please suggest me on this.

Hi,
Goto RSA1 right click on the Info object and select Delete Master data. This will delete the master data unused existing in the table.
If this master data is not used any where else just delete the master data completely with SID option.
If even this doesnt work you can delete the complete table entire in SE14. But this will wipe out the entire table. Be sure if you wanna do this.

Error Caller 09 contains error message - Data Marts loading(cube to ODS)

Dear all,
          Please ! Help me in this problem, This is very urgent.
          I have one process chain that loads data from BIW to BIW only through Data Marts. In that process chain, one process loads data from one cube(Created by us) & loads data to one ODS(also created by us). Data is loaded through full update & for the selected period specified in 'Calender Day' field in data selection.
         Previously I was able to load data for 2 months, but some days ago, suddenly one day, the process of Extraction got stuck in background for long time,& showed following error :
          Error message from the source system
          Diagnosis
         An error occurred in the source system.
          System Response
         Caller 09 contains an error message.
         Further analysis:
         The error occurred in Extractor .
         Refer to the error message.
         Procedure
         How you remove the error depends on the error message.
         Note
         If the source system is a Client Workstation, then it is possible that the file that you wanted to                load was being edited at the time of the data request. Make sure that the file is in the specified directory, that it is not being processed at the moment, and restart the request.
              Then we killed that process on server & after another attempt, It showed some calmonth...timestamp error. Then after reducing data selection period, It had been loaded successfully, after that I was able to load data for 20 days,Again after some days process got stuck,I followed the same procedure,reduced the period to 15 days & continued, Now I can't even load data for 5 Days successfully in one attempt, I have to kill that process in background & repeat it, then sometimes It get loaded.
         Pls, suggest some solutions as soon as possible. I am waiting for your reply. Points will be assigned.

                  I didn't find any short dump for that in ST22.
                  Actually , What happens is, Request continues to run in background for infinite time. At that time
Status Tab in Process Monitor shows this messages :
                    Request still running
                    Diagnosis

What if i load transaction data without loading master data

Hello experts,
What are the consequences if i load transaction data without loading master data?Are there any other factors except the load performance because of SID generations etc and inconsistencies.

Problem here is:
when the transaction load starts a new master data such as employee(x) would be have been created in R/3 which does not exist in BW and hence transaction load fails.

Hi Rao,
In case you load the master data after loading the transcation data and if there is any look up at the master data in teh update rules, then you can delete and reconstruct the requests in the ODS/Cube so that the latest master data is pulled in in the data target.
Make sure you do the Apply hier/attr change before doing the delete and reconstruct.

or
if you want to set your own error file in maxl using statement
import database dbname data from datafile datafilepath using server rule file filename +on error write to the path where you want to store\file name.err+

How to call a function/event after a Remote Object's data is loaded?

I'm making a call to a remote object that is loading a good
amount of data. I've set up a "please wait" label that is supposed
to display while the data is being loaded and then clear the label
when the data finishes loading.
At the moment I've got it set up like so...
label = 'Loading data, please wait..."
remoteObj.read.send();
label = ''
The problem with this is that the 'please wait' label doesn't
even display because the actual call to the remote object I'm
making finishes so quickly even though the data load does not. So
what I need is possibly an IF statement to check if the data has
finished loading. If it hasn't finished loading, the label stays in
the "please wait" status, or if the data does finish loading, then
the label clears out.
What would be ideal is...
remoteObj.read.send(); // gets the data
if(data is loaded){
label = '';
}else{
label = 'Please wait'
I just don't know how to form the statement for the data
loading in the IF statement.

You are seeing the difference between data loading and UI
rendereing.
Reasonable amounts of data load very fast, expecially with
RemoteObject. Bur rendering the UI is almost always the bottleneck,
event with AS3 FP8+, which is about 30 percent faster than AS2!
I have not found a perfect solution for this myself, but i
think you will want to look into the component data events, to find
one that fires after the component is actually rendered.

CUBE -> Right Click -> Manage-> Requests Tab- > View the loaded Request
See two columns .
Transfered Record and Added number of Records.
Based on Update Rules, Added Record Count might be <= Transfered Rec Count.

Data warehouse Loader did not write the data

I have configured the DataWarehouse Loader and its components.Even I have enabled the logging mechanism.
I can manually pass the log files into queue and then populate the data into Data Warehouse database through scheduling.
The log file data is populated into this queue through JMS message processing" and should be automated.I am unable to
configure this.
Which method is responsible for adding the log file data into loader queue and how to automate this.

Data Mart load does not support Delta load?

For data mart load, we create an InfoPackage for Delta load, under data selection tab, for the InfoObj. 0FISCPER, we pick OLAP variable 0FPER [Current Fiscal Year/Period (SAP Exit)], save this InfoPackage, but when get in again, find under Data Selection tab, on the row 0FISCPER, the From Value column becomes 001/2005 and To Value column becomes 011/2005 and the whole Data Selection tab screen becomes non-editable!
The correct behavior should be that after saving the InfoPackage on this row 0FISCPER, From Value/To Value columns are blank and just the Type column value is 7 and after saving the infopackage and get back in, the Data Selection tab screen is editable.
But if we select Full update mode, then switch back to the Data Selection tab, then the behavior is right.
We wonder if SAP doesn't support Delta load for Data Mart load, why under the Update tab, the Delta load radio button shows up after we conducted an initial load? It doesn't make any sense for SAP!

as alredy suggested, you cannot do different selection criteria on your delta, since you automatically have to load on the basis of initial selection...and, if you think about it, this is logic: you cannot initialize a flow for certain conditions and then decide to upload in delta other (different) records...

clearly, if you perform a full (like a 'repair' full, from a functional point of view), this problem doesn't exist (data is taken from active table and not from change log one!)

Data conversion/loading

Our year end was on 31 March 2007 and since then lots of assets have been retired. The users will still have a display access on the Legacy system. Will the users be able to run their year end (31 March 2008) reporting on both systems should we decide not to take-over the assets that were retired after 31 March 2007.
I am busy doing data conversion/loading.

I have dealt with this in the past. My recommendation is to ask the responsible financial person. He/she must decide what to do with the assets and its history, because it has a highly financial impact!

Each time master data full load removes previous data and load with new ?

We load company code (0COMP_CODE) master data (full load).
1st day, we check company code master data, the record count is 150, 2nd day, the record count is 90. It sounds like the master data full load each time would clean the previous data and load with new data, am I right? If what I guess is right, then what setup is controlling this?

I dont think it does cleanup.
MD records in the new load simply overwrite the records already present in the master data.
I mean if same record comes again its overwritten.If new record it gets added.
I wouldnt expect number of records to reduce drastically from 150 to 90.
Maybe before MD activation records could be more(as there will be both M(modified) and A(active) records).

Depersonalising Data Before loading into DB

Hi Guys,
I need some help on de-Personalizing customer data before loading it into the database using SSIS.
So one all the transformation done and finally want to load the data into respective tables , we need to de-personalize it.
Also, how it will handle datatype of the table for each columns need to be de-personalized ?
Later on we have to again de-cript once its tested by the testers.

As we are not encrypting the client ID that can be used to join with other tables for testing purpose but tester won’t able to see the other Client Personal Data
like account number, address and DOB etc .
we have to decrypt the data back once testing is done.
