Date validation with different formatStrings

I can change formatString property to show a date in a different format.
For example, I have DD/MM/YYYY so my date is shown like this: 30/11/1980
Now, I am entering a date like this: 11/30/1980. Should I be getting an error?
Thanks

Hi
Use Follwing date formatter to format date
var formatter:DateFormatter = new DateFormatter();
formatter.formatString = "MM/DD/YYYY";
var formattedDate:String = new String;
formattedDate = formatter.format(" "); //Date entered in datepicker
//Condition to validate date
if((formatter.error != null && formatter.error == "Invalid value") || null == " ") {
     showAlert(" ");
     return;
Let me know if any concern
Thanks,

  • How to do a date validation with leap years

    I'm doing a date validation program in my Java class, and well it's pretty hard (for me that is). I have to be able to type in a date, have it say whether it's a leap year or not, and print out the number of days in the month. It seems pretty straight forward, but I get confused on trying to do the 'if else' statements and even the simplest things like getting the day prompting to work. >< The years I'm doing only goes through 1000 to 1999, so that's why those numbers are there. The program isn't complete, so if anyone could help show me what I'm doing wrong in the areas I'm working on then I'd appreciate it...and I'm still kind of in the basics of Java so if you do hint me with some code then I'd appreciate it if it was stuff that's not too advanced so yea.

    Here are some helpfull hints for you:
    1. Your code is really hard to read, there are two main reasons for this. First, your indentation sucks. Second, you seem to be fascinated with saving two (ok four if you count the shift key) keypresses to avoid using { and }.
    2. Not using the brackets (you know { and } which you like to avoid) also is causing your code to do some stuff you don't realize or want to happen, or at least it would be if your code compiled.
    3. If statements require arguements, "year == 1" is an arguement, "3" is not an arguement. Each operator like the or operator ("||") is essentially a new if and requires a complete arguement. So the following code peice:
    if (year == 1 || 3 || 5 || 7 || 8 || 10 || 12)Literally translates to if year equals 1 or if 3 or if 5 or if 7 or if 8 or if 10 or if 12. Doesn't make much sense in english, and it doesn't make much sense in Java either.
    4. I am pretty sure "year" is not the variable you want in the code snippet above (the one used in hint 3), especially considering years 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12 are not between 1000 and 1999. You need to be really carefull not make these kind of mistakes when coding, because they are by far the hardest to track down and fix later since they don't really throw up any flags or anything at compile or run time. Take your time and think thuroughly about each line of code while coding it, it will save you tons of time in the long run.
    5. What exactly do you expect statements like "month = month;" to do? That translates as make month equal to month. Do you go to the bank and say " I have exactly $3.56 in my pocket, so I would like to deposite all $3.56 and then withdraw $3.56 and put it back in my pocket"? How do you think the teller would look at you? Teller would probably do it, but the teller would feel like he/she wasted time with you and that you are not really right in the head. Java feels the same way when you make it do the same thing, and you love to do it.
    6. Code like the following is all wrong, and for more reasons than pointed out in hint 5.
    if (month >= 1)
    month = month;
    else
    if (month <= 12)
    month = month;
    else;Let's say someone put 13 in as the month. It passes the first check because 13 is greater than or equal to 1. so month which is 13, now gets set to 13 (gee that was effective). Now we hit the else and things get confusing because you didn't use brackets or proper indentation (hint 1) so we don't know what your real intent was. Did you mean else do nothing, and the next if statement is then executed, or did you mean to just run the next if statement if the else condition was met? Fortunatly it doesn't matter here because the next if statement is failed anyways since 13 is not less than or equal to 12.
    So, we leave this code with month ebing 13, wait when did we add a 13th month to the calendar? Are you using the Jewish calendar? Could be, except even if I put 1234567 as the month your code would except it as valid, and I know no calendar with that many months. Try writing this in english first and translating it to jave, like i would probably say "if the month is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 12 then the month is valid." Course now what do you do if it is invalid? Hmm, maybe I would actually say "while the month is less than 1 or greater than 12 ask the user for the month" until they get it right.
    There are a few other problems, but most of them are probably things you haven't learned yet, and they are not show stoppers so we will let them fly. You already have a lot of work to do to make this better. But I do have one more really really big usefull hint for you:
    Never, ever, under any circumstances, should you ever ask in any way or even hint at asking for someone else to provide code solutions to your problems. So "so if you do hint me with some code then I'd appreciate it if it was stuff that's not too advanced " was a very bad thing to do, but fortunatly for you you followed it with proof you were trying to write the code yourself. Had the code you provided not been so full of problems it was obvious a beginner wrote it, you would probably have gotten much less cordial responses. I would seriously consider avoiding any implication of wanting code, at least until you become a regular poster here and people know you are not just looking to get your homework done for you.
    Hope some of this helps.

  • Date validation with minValue on 1st February

    Here is my validation on a textfield which expect a date :
    var dateValidation = new
    Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("dateValidation", "date",
    {isRequired:false, format:"dd/mm/yyyy", validateOn:["blur"],
    minValue:"31/01/2008", useCharacterMasking:true});
    Test with these parameters :
    Today date : 31/01/2008
    Try to enter 01/02/2008 and this date is detected as a date
    in the past.
    You can do the same with each year: try to put your today
    date on 31/01/2009 and enter 01/02/2009...
    Is it a bug from Spry?

    I debug the "SpryValidationTextField.js" and I found a bug in
    the date validation function.
    In javascript, when you create a new date, the month is on
    base "0".
    So when your month is January and the value typed is 1. If
    you would like to create a new date based on this month, you have
    to specified the month "0".
    Adobe Spry Team,
    could you correct the line :
    return (new Date(theYear, theMonth, theDay);
    by:
    return (new Date(theYear, theMonth - 1, theDay);

  • IT0041 : Same date type with different values in the same infotype

    Hi,
    Is it possible to store in the 0041 infotype, the same type date but with a diffentent date.
    Example :
    IT0041
    employee 1000:
    date type : xx 01.05.10
    date type : xx 02.05.10.....
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    My two cents.
    I don't think it can be done in standard. Also copying IT 0041 would limit you to enter only 12 dates.
    My suggestion:
    Create a custom infotype with subtype field and a date field like IT 0015.
    On the screen you will only be seeing subtype and date. And assign time constraint 3 to it.
    In this way with the same subtype you can record several dates.
    cheers

  • Can I data-merge with different masters?

    I have a project that has three different page layouts and the choice of layout is data dependent.
    Conceptually what I want is for the 10th field in my data record to tell InDesign which master page to use before merging the data from that record.
    Can such a thing be done with the standard data-merge facility?  Is there an affordable (<$100) third-party solution?  Could this be done with a script?

    Conceptually what I want is for the 10th field in my data record to tell InDesign which master page to use before merging the data from that record.
    Triggering a master using data merge... no, at least not from InDesign only. VDP software such as XMPie (i pick this because I have used the trial version) can do this, BUT it doesn't fulfil the next requirement of being <$100, and I don't think you will find ANY VDP solution for that.
    Instead, I would suggest an alternative. Rather than triggering a master page, I would suggest making a frame in the background of the page that uses a data-merge image field, so if you are changing letterheads mid-stream based on the data in the job, this will work. The catch is, there's no way indesign's data merge will trigger this by itself based on the data in the file. Instead, the data would have to include an additional field that reflects the relevant page background, and if using an excel spreadsheet to make the data, would require some creative if/else statements.
    So it is possible. It slows down the processing of the file tremendously, and I'm not sure how many records are being merged.
    So far as is it scriptable? Yes, most things are scriptable in InDesign. Is someone going to volunteer to prepare such a custom-script for nothing... unlikely.

  • Logical fact table with fragmented data sources with different dimensions

    Hello.
    I have a logical fact table with four logical table sources. Three of the LTS's share the same dimensions, but the fourth LTS has one dimension (called Dim_A) less. In the physical layer the dimension Dim_A is joined to the first three physical fact tables, but not to the fourth fact table (since it doesn't have that dimensionality). In the BMM layer the logical fact table is joines to the logical dimansion Dim_A.
    When I run an analysis on this RPD the measures from the logical fact is aggregated correctly (union of all four table sources) as long as I doesn't include Dim_A, but as soon as I include dimension Dim_A I get the error message:
    +State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. (HY000)+
    I would like a solution where the analysis returns correctly aggregated measures also for the LTS with the "missing" dimension, but with a dimension value NULL for this LTS. Or something like this.
    Is there a way to set this up in the RPD.
    Thanks,
    Henning Eriksen

    The SQL could look something like this.
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, fact_a.measure_1
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_a
    ON fact_a.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_a.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, SUM (fact_b.measure_1)
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_b
    ON fact_b.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_b.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT dim_a.col_1, SUM (fact_c.measure_1)
    FROM db.dim_a
    JOIN
    db.fact_c
    ON fact_c.col_2 = dim_a.col_2
    WHERE fact_c.date = '28-nov-2012'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT NULL, SUM (fact_d.measure_1)
    FROM    db.fact_d
    WHERE fact_d.date = '28-nov-2012'
    I would appreciate if you could give me some hints for the RPD.
    Thanks,
    Henning

  • Querying a date field with different masks in form and database

    Dear friends,
    I have a field with date format mask dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss, but the same field has date format dd/mm/yyyy inside the form which queries it.
    If I run this form, obviously I will query this date in dd/mm/yyyy format mask, but this date is not being found because it doesn't include hh24:mi:ss (hour) from the database field.
    How can I solve this problem? I tried to change my form, putting a format mask with hours, but it requires me to query this date with time, and obviously no one needs to know the exact moment (with seconds!) when the date was recorded in the database.
    Thanks, and best regards,
    Franklin

    Franklin,
    You could instruct your users to use the '%' when they enter a date search criteria. Another alternative would be to programatically add the '%' to the date. Also, if your Block based on a view you could alter the vuew to use TRUNC() on the date field to drop the time.
    Another option would be to use the Pre-Query trigger to modify the Block WHERE clause to: TRUNC(date_field) = :block.date_field.
    Hope this helps.

  • Trying to compare date columns with differing formats...

    I have an app that created a series of tables via ODBC using ANSI standard datatypes. For most, this isn't a problem, but one in particular is driving me crazy: TIMESTAMP. In Oracle, it shows up as a TIMESTAMP(6). I don't want to mess with the app's tables, so every time there is an insert to their tables, I have a trigger which creates records in corresponding tables I build using standard Oracle datatypes (DATE).
    I have one function that gets called by several of the triggers that retrieves me a specific row to update, and it uses the value from this TIMESTAMP field in the WHERE clause like this (the value is passed into the function as a parmeter):
    SELECT TIMECARD_ID INTO tc_id FROM TS_TIMECARD_MAIN
    WHERE EMP_ID = e_id AND VEHICLE_ID = v_id
    AND IN_TIME <= logout AND OUT_TIME IS NULL; <----
    I seem to have a formatting issue, because unless the "logout" date is a full day later than IN_TIME, it doesn't pull the record (my code does a check to verify there is only one record matching the criteria but I haven't posted it all here for simplicity). I need it to be able to select the correct record with a one second difference.
    I have NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT set to 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24.MI.SS.FF' and NLS_DATE_FORMAT set to 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'. The relevant describes are included below. Can anyone suggest how to format my query (I expect to use the TO_DATE and TO_CHAR to compensate, but haven't found the right set) so that it resolves properly? Date math is a pain, but it is critical to my purposes.
    Vendor's table
    FIELD3_DATETIME TIMESTAMP(6)
    My table
    TIMECARD_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(10)
    EMP_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(10)
    IN_TIME DATE
    OUT_TIME DATE
    VEHICLE_ID NUMBER(10)
    Also, some sample default output from each table - not sure why formatting is wierd on my table.
    Vendor's table
    UNIQKEY STATUS FORM_ID VEHICLE_NUMBER CREATED_DATETIME
    11515780978071234994451 0 21423 24005 28-JUN-06 05.10.14.000000 PM
    CHECK_DVIR NEW_DVIR SERVICEABLE DETAILS
    1 1 1 everything ok
    INSPECTION_TIME ODOMETER LATITUDE LONGITUDE
    28-JUN-06 05.12.12.000000 PM 119885.1 44.7889490425587 -95.2167677879333
    My table
    TIMECARD_ID EMP_ID IN_TIME OUT_TIME VEHICLE_ID
    5 20044 28-JUN-06 24005

    That sounds a bit complicated. If you post your query I'm sure there will be a simpler approach, perhaps something like
    where  date_timestamp between cast(sysdate -30 as timestamp) and systimestampor if you prefer
    where  date_timestamp between systimestamp - interval '30' day and systimestampas discussed on Re: convert timestamp to date.

  • 2 Init with different selection

    Hi All,
    I want to run 2 inits on a single data source with different selections for that , after running the first init do I have to remove the init from the first package and then run the second package?
    Thanks.
    Tina

    Hi Tina,
        There can be many Init runs in your infopackage given that the selection ranges for the different Inits are not overlapping.  For different Selection ranges you can do different Inits.  You can check the Initilization table in the Scheduler menu of your Infopackage.
    Hope it will be useful
    Thanks

  • Load one text file with 12 periods' data into 12 different periods at once?

    Hi guys,
    In one swoop, can we load one .txt file with 12 periods of data into 12 different periods?
    The scenario:
    Budget data is required for monthly comparative reporting with actuals, so we have 12 periods in our Budget version.
    From a non-SAP system we get one .txt file containing 12 periods worth of budget data,
    - it is in the correct format (and we don't want to create risk by opening and editing it) so it is loaded into each period and the other 11 periods of irrelevant data are obviously ignored.
    Some extra tasks (such as validation, cashflow calculations) are then performed per period.
    Because this has to be repeated 12 times, this can be a time consuming process
    We now have multiperiod monitor functionality (from EHP2) and I see how it works for the automatic tasks (very well).
    I'm aware that the guide says that manual tasks will be ignored during the automatic run, this is true.
    However, if I remember correctly EC-CS used to allow it with upoad files, so i was expecting it in BCS 6.02
    - is there anyway to load a file containing 12 periods worth of data into 12 individual periods in all at once?
    (NB we still have an improvement to the previous situation, the user can scroll between periods more quickly and load the file 12 times, then go back to the start and run all auto tasks at once)..
    One thought was to use a file server location with a hardcoded filename but his would require work beyond my expertise.
    All suggestions welcome

    Hi
    I wil suggest mapping the path based on a common location is the best way and then map the same logically in the Upload method
    If you are using Citrix then it becomes all the more easy to have a commmon location

    They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
    I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment)  one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
    How can I copy
    the whole library still in  "Events" to an external hard drive?
    the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
    and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
    Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
    Thanks

    UPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
    Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
    Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
    So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
    I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
    Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.
    Thanks, Sean.

  • Issue in Data from DSO to DSO Target with different Key

    Hello All,
    I am having Issue in Data from DSO to DSO Target with different Key
    Source DSO has Employee + Wage + Post numner as key and Target has Employee + Wage Type as key.
    DSO semantic grouping works like Group By clause in sql, is my understanding right ?
    Also if someone can explain this with a small example, it would be great.
    Many Thanks
    Krishna

    Dear, as explained earlier your issue has nothing to do with semantic grouping .
    Semantic grouping is only usefull when you have written a routine in the transformation for calculations and in error handling .
    Please go through this blog which explains very clearly the use of semantic grouping .
    http://scn.sap.com/community/data-warehousing/netweaver-bw/blog/2013/06/16/semantic-groups-in-dtp
    Now coming to your above question
    DSO 1
    Employee WageTyp Amount
    100          aa          200
    200          aa          200
    100          bb          400
    100          cc          300
    If we have semantic group as Employee .   If we have Employee as key of the target DSO and update type as summation .
    then target DSO will have
    Emp                Amount
    100                 700
    200                 200
    In this case Wage type will be the last record arriving from the data package . If the record 100  cc  300 is arrivng last then wage type will be cc .
    2) Case 2
    DSO 1
    Employee WageTyp Amount
    100          aa          200
    200          aa          200
    100          bb          400
    100          aa          300
    if we do Semantic grouping with Emp and Wage Type   If we have Employee and wage type as key of the target DSO and update type as summation .
    then target DSO will have
    Emp     Wage      Amount
    100          aa          500
    200          aa          200
    100          bb          400
    Hope this helps .
